Was excited to try this place after seeing on social media while planning a trip for our 10th anniversary and it didn't disappoint. We had a friend go 2 weeks ago who recommended we get there early around 6ish and that was some amazing advice. Got there an around 6:30am, later than we had initially planned but it worked out. Ended up waiting about an hour and walked out 2 huge cinnamon rolls, a ham and cheese croissant, and dozen cookies. The cinnamon rolls didn't disappoint. So light and fluffy. FREAKING HUGE! Between the two of us, we couldn't even finish 1. Which ended up being nice because they still warm up in the micro pretty well. The ham and cheese croissant was a pleasant surprise. Ended up being really good. My wife isn't usually a ham person, but she said it was like hand carved ham you'd have at Christmas. Cookies were okay. I usually prefer a fluffier soft cookie. Usually when we visit Hawaii and I want cookies , we usually are on Oahu and my go to there is Cookie Corner. Service was great. While waiting, they'll come out and take coffee orders. Only thing was their espresso machine was down that day but was still able to get iced coffee. And once they open, they keep it pretty efficient to keep the line moving. Overall, having to wait for an hour for the croissant and cinnamon rolls was worth it. Probably wouldn't do the cookies again. I've seen some other reviews saying they had to wait 2-3 hours, which is pushing it. I dunno if I'd be willing to do that. But if you can, wake up early, and plan to be there an hour before they open.

Was truly an incredible experience! Arrived at 5:30am line wasn't too bad at the time and you were able to order coffee. The coffee was absolutely fantastic. Had nice conversations with strangers and just hung out watching the line grow. At promptly 7:00 the line started moving inside to make orders and man you could smell everything by this point. Was absolutely drooling just from the smells alone from outside. Once inside it's a cute decoration with a big menu sign very hard to miss. Ask about shirts!! They are a family business. They are truly so friendly and caring people. Absolutely outstanding service. Now the food I tried THE cinnamon roll (WORTH IT!!!) the tropical scone and the chocolate croissant. It was all so good I would wait in line again just to have these.

Papi Ohana was absolutely worth the early morning adventure! I drove about 45 minutes on a Thursday morning, arrived around 6:30 a.m., and waited close to two hours to get their famous cinnamon rolls. The wait might sound long, but the experience made it worthwhile. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They genuinely appreciated when customers took photos and videos and were so much fun to interact with--they really embrace social media and make everyone feel at home. The cinnamon rolls were huge, priced at $12 each, and served warm. They were perfectly moist, soft, and not overly sweet, which made them even better. If you're visiting Maui and don't mind getting up early for one of the island's most popular treats, I highly recommend adding Papi Ohana to your list. It's a memorable experience with delicious cinnamon rolls that live up to the hype. But definitely go early since they sell out everyday!

Amazing! My visit was back in 2024, and I absolutely love how much this business is still striving I can't believe I forgot to post about our visit. Huge line around 6:30am but worth the wait. Since it was our last morning in Maui I didn't buy too much but had regrets not to bring extra home to share with the kids. Cinnamon roll was delicious and we ordered another pastry just to try something savory and I loved it just as much as the cinnamon roll. It was quick service type establishment but I enjoy watching how much passion and love they have for the community supporting their business.

Very almost, laminated dough and uber buttery-- but the two hour wait PLUS lack of proper cinnamon ratio to dough-- hm. Love the NON DENSE DOUGH-- it's the same dough as my fave viennoiserie: pain aux raisins!!! As a believer, megapoints for Phil 1:3 verse on pizza box, and I am truly encouraged by the verses that I can claim as promises from God... Tis the reason I came, after all. My first Uber driver also a believer from El Salvador. It's a slog in line; given that I arrived 6:45, I would say come at 5:35, and your wait won't exist. Wear sunscreen and order iced coffee! PS aha--- he did train under a French baker! The dough IS laminated; my tongue didn't lie. PPS I respect the Sox off David and wife: this ministry l can very much appreciate. Why can't I retire now and just join their ministry and church... pinings...

Is it good? Yes. Is it "stand-in-line-forever" good? Not for me. I'm just past the stage of chasing hype, but based on the crowds wrapping around the corner, I'm clearly in the minority. The cinnamon rolls, though, are the real deal: soft, gooey, draped in glaze and yet somehow isn't overyly sweet, and when they're warm they just melt in your mouth. They're basically a hug in pastry form and go perfectly with a hot cup of coffee. We also tried the scones, croissants, and cookies, and they were all very tasty--but let's be honest, you're really here for the cinnamon rolls, and they know it.

I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn't for me. Waited 3.5 hours on a Tuesday morning (from 6:30am-10am, their croissants were sold out so we bought 4 of the cinnamon rolls & a box of cookies. The cookies are delicious, I love that they put pistachios in it & it's not overly sweet, they were my favorite. The cinnamon rolls unfortunately fell short for me. There was something about them that just didn't "wow" me enough to be believing the hype. However, I'm still glad that I tried it. & to each their own.

If you don't feel like reading my whole review, here's the short version... the hype is real and worth the trip! My wife's sister, who just moved away from Hawaii told us about this place. She told us we had to come here. She made sure to mention to carve out a couple hours of the day, because we'll be waiting in line. As you can see pictures from other people's reviews, that's definitely the case. We took an Uber over there, and as soon as we got in the car and the driver mentioned the address he said, are y'all ready to wait?!?! I think we got there around 10 AM and the line was already long! We knew we would have to be very patient this day. Luckily it wasn't super hot outside so that helped with the waiting process. They did have someone come around and offer coffee and water to purchase while we waited in line. I thought that was pretty smart under the circumstances that everyone has to deal with while waiting here. After probably a 2 hour wait... we finally got in! They have other options of things to eat. Scones, croissants and things like that. We were there for the star player... the cinnamon roll! These things are huge! My wife and I said since we waited so long, we might as well get two and enjoy one of them for later. I never envisioned myself waiting two hours for a cinnamon roll, or any other type of treats, but this was well worth it. We wanted to have one while it was fresh out the oven, so we found a bench to sit at around a bus stop. It was so soft, pretty much melted in your mouth. The icing was tasty. It was so fresh, it's the best cinnamon roll I've ever had in my life. I'm sure spending two hours of your time being in Maui you don't want to sit in line waiting on something like a cinnamon roll, trust me I felt the same way. After doing this, I WILL do it again the next time I'm there! Next time, I would be there first thing in the morning and waiting in line before they open up, that way I'll have time for other activities around the island that I have planned for the day. The wait is worth it, and I highly suggest this place!

Delicious! Def best in the island. Not as flakey as my top cinnamon roll ever but it was delicious and we loved it

Thanks to a fellow Yelper, I learned the trick of going later in the morning. I hardly waited five minutes. And I know some people show up long before they open and wait in line for hours. It does look fun to be part of the community waiting together and being on their daily Facebook video. But... I was good with the short wait. And....what a de-licious cinnamon roll. I only got one to share between three of us. I had to stop myself from eating more than my share! Lovely friendly service too! I'm a fan!

cinnamon roll ($12) - when i first had it i wasn't that impressed but it's only because i havent had that many cinnamon rolls in life and i was never a cinnamon girlie, but after having another one from Cinnamon Roll Place for comparison, this is indeed heavenly - first of all the texture oml, i don't think any place would easily surpass this; it was pillowy soft inside while the exterior was a bit crunchy and flaky; so soft it felt like it would collapse if you don't eat it quick - second, it came out HOT N FRESH - third, the size is massive - fourth, the flavor was on point; i have nothing to complain about - the only part i didn't like was that they put too much cream cheese glaze; hence, it was too sweet blueberry scone ($10) - this was soooo dry it felt like my tongue went scavenging through the desert - other than the dryness though i do appreciate the rugged texture and the blueberry flavor was pretty rich - would not get it again rating: 4.8/5 - theyre known for cinnamon rolls so despite the blueberry scone being unsatisfactory, the rating is still high - i loved the texture and flavor; you can taste the quality - it wouldve been an almost perfect score if it could just lessen the cream cheese glaze AND if the line wasn't so bombastic because we waited for 1.5 hours in the sun - super welcoming cheerful service though; they also provide umbrellas and a few chairs for you to wait in the sun - very small interior for you to place your order; no place to stand or sit; grab and go only IG: @nom.noms.only

    You need to try this.

Big ass cinnamon roll. Soft and pillowy. Gooey and sweet. Buttery with a hint of vanilla or coconut. I couldn't place my finger on it. It's the size of a plate lunch. The line is nuts but if you go around 11:30 you might be able to snag the leftovers with no line.

Can't believe no pics were taken. That's how you know food and company were both incredible! Finally tried their pizza and it did not disappoint. Had the veggie pizza and it was simple yet flavorful. We had 2 separate pickups, one for my brother and one for his in laws, 4 pizzas in total. I think all together we had vegetarian, pineapple/pepperoni, Hawaiian and vegetarian plus pepperoni. Everyone from the kids to grandpa enjoyed the pizza and dare I say it might even be better as cold leftovers? Crust isn't heavy so it's easy to want to grab another slice. They also got cookies and they too were delicious. I think they had milk & white chocolate chips as well as macadamia nuts. Another great meal and experience from start to finish. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and everything I've tried has been wonderful! New go to pizza for sure. Just make sure you call earlier on the day to reserve your pickup time!

It starts at their building in Lahaina, which has a little café/coffee shop, plenty of chocolate for sale, and a rooftop experience that looked interesting but we didn't get to try. By the time we finished the tour, the kids had reached the "we have successfully experienced enough things today" portion of the vacation. Fair enough. From there, you take a fun little ride out to the cacao farm, and that's where this became much more than "let's go eat some chocolate." Our guide, Andrew (I'm about 95% sure I'm remembering his name correctly!), was fantastic. He seemed genuinely interested in cacao, the process, the company, and what they are doing there. That makes such a difference. He talked about how cacao is grown and processed, the history behind Kuʻia, and a little about founder Dr. Gunars Valkirs and his rather fascinating path to chocolate. Then, of course, there was the tasting. Lots and lots of little squares of chocolate. This is educational work I was willing to undertake. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which particular varieties were my favorites because apparently I was too busy eating them to take adequate scientific notes. What I can tell you is that there really wasn't one I disliked. What surprised me most was how much flavor there could be in chocolate that wasn't buried under a mountain of sugar. The differences and complexity of the cacao actually came through, and it made me think about chocolate completely differently. The chocolate sample they gave us back at the counter was also fantastic, as was the coffee drink we ordered. My only regret is that we didn't buy more chocolate before leaving. Be warned, though: apparently this tour has side effects. I went in expecting a fun Maui family activity where we'd learn a few things and eat some chocolate. I left wondering about cacao varieties, fermentation, processing, climate, chemistry and several other questions that absolutely nobody in my family asked me to investigate. It's been a few weeks and I'm still going down the rabbit hole. Five stars. Great guide, fascinating process, excellent chocolate, fun for the family, and potentially hazardous to anyone predisposed to acquiring new interests while on vacation.

After learning all about the process of growing, harvesting, and drying the cocoa beans, we got to partake in a delicious sampling in what can only be described as an adult "treehouse". With 360 panoramic views, and a wonderful breeze, we listened as Gabriel explained the various chocolates we were sampling and I thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone. Once back at the shop, we had the opportunity to purchase chocolate and also try a variety of items from their café menu if we wanted (for additional charge). All in all, the tour was a wonderful and educational experience and definitely opened my eyes to the deliciousness of the Maui Kuia Estate Chocolate.
