If you like Deb's Artisan Bakehouse in Middletown, you'll like this place. They're modeled very similarly though Deb's opened a few years before. The pastries are excellent and HUGE. They do have limited indoor seating with plates and utensils plus some beverage options for purchase. There's also some seating outdoors, but most people just grab their box(es) and go. Not much parking nearby, either get a spot on the street or park in one of the garages/baker park and walk. Staff is friendly and efficient but the line is always super long. Get there early because they close at sell out. Menu changes frequently but some pastries are available every week like chocolate croissants.

Holy cow, this place is so, so, so good! You've got to get there early because they sell out... kind of quickly. This small bakery in downtown Frederick has all sorts of delectable bites. We got the sticky bun pecan thing, and I don't think we've ever had anything like it. It's big enough for three people and heavenly. It's filled with cinnamon goodness, with sticky pecans on top. Honestly, you have to taste it to believe it. No description will do it justice. There are a couple tables, but I think most people just grab and go. Clearly, I highly recommend visiting Bakehouse. Run, don't walk... early in the morning!

Get here early! Stopped in at 9;30 and glad I didn't wait. Even though the line has 10 people in front of me, it moved swiftly. 3 people were working behind the counter getting people what they wanted - fast. Today I got the pecan maple bun and it was so incredible. Mountain of pecans was already good. Big enough to share with my daughter glad I only got the 1 because it ruined all other desserts for me... well for the day. Oh and I say come early because by 11 they were sold out. I walked into check, sure enough everything was bought up. If you make it here, you won't be disappointed there's something sweet, savory or coffee for everybody.

Worth the wait. We got there once it opened and there was already a line out the door, for a good reason. The line went fast and the food was so worth it. The store itself has few seating inside but there is also some seating outside. Its a small store but very cute and cozy. There was only one thing I didn't enjoy and it was the pig in a croissant blanket. If they used two hot dogs instead of one it would've been better but it was basically just a croissant because the lack of hot dog. The cream cheese everything but the bagel thing was amazing and also the monkey bread. I would definitely come back even if I had to wait hours in line. Worth it.

Everything about this place is five stars. The food is obviously amazing, but the staff really goes above and beyond to be so sweet to each customer. They are so friendly, so willing to meet the needs of each customer. I can't say enough good things about this place!!

I wanted to try a local bake shop in the Frederick area and was pleasantly impressed by the Bakehouse. I got there when they had sold out and the owner was very kind enough to check the back of the house and get some pastries for my sister and I completely free. One Place to Check Off my Foodie Bucket List Among local foodie, this bakery has become legendary. It's been on my "foodie bucket list" for a while. You have to go at the right day, at the right time of day. It has be plan with precision, to achieve baked goods rewards and success, I woke up at 7 AM on Sunday, and phone a greedy little foodie friend, who'd be game. We set out for Frederick, Maryland, the next county over and about an hour away. Parking can be difficult in Historical Frederick but there's a parking garage. Sometimes, if you are blessed you find street parking. Once you arrive, you get on the line that snakes out the door, into the sidewalk. You wait patiently, then it's your turn so be ready with your order. I used my yellow notepad in my iPhone. The menu is posted once a month, plus you may encounter a "special item." My only advice is be ready with the order, arrive early. The baked goods are legit out of this world, I got cruffin, coffee cakes, Gouda and Prosciutto, jalapeño flavored pastries, and the best dessert of them all, strawberry shortcake. The service was excellent, friendly, amazing, quick and fast. The bakery is a beautiful store front that gives the feel of an old house. In my long dessert eating experience, the baked goods were delicious, incredible and sublime. Some real show stoppers. On the side of the building is a commission piece of art of a famed jazz musician, Lester Bowie. I find that art can inspire you to learn about the past and/or a new perspective or culture. All-in-all, it was an excellent way to spend a Sunday.

Long line but moved quickly, but excellent treats. I shoes up about an hour and a half after opening and some of the baked goods, including the pear almond honey croissant I saw on the menu, were already sold out for the day. It wasn't my first choice but I got the cardamom crumb cake and it was delicious. It was also enormous and I ate it over three sittings. Got a drip coffee and took my breakfast to go on a lovely stroll along the nearby creek and neighboring park. The staff was friendly and efficient. A local treasure!

Amazing baked goods, WOW! You have to arrive early because a lot of items sell out rather quickly, but it was worth the wait on line. The line also moves pretty quickly. They have tons of options to please everyone- including both savory and sweet baked goods- availability based on first come first serve. The staff is also super kind and you can tell they take a lot of pride in their work. I am excited to come back next time I'm in Frederick!

Got here right before they opened, and there was a line already formed. I absolutely love the space. It is filled with plants, greenery , and an amazing baking scent. Such a great minimalistic store with really nice pastries. There was a good size line that got longer as we waited. The line moved surprisingly slow really with all the food already prepared sitting out front and the amount of staff. Clearly the quickness wasn't an issue by the amount of people willing to wait. The wait lended itself to conversation with strangers which may or may not be by design. The selection was small, not too small, but with a nice variety. We left with wayyyy too much. The scones, the cinnamon popover thing, the croissants, the almond croissant....it all was just a little different than we've had before. Different in a good way too! Not a great selection of beverages but there are some. For us this little unassuming gem was well worth a little the little detour. *****forgot to take photos but these are the items we got and looked just like that!

where do I begin? This place is a gem here in Frederick. There's a line always so get there early. Everything ran smoothly, even though there was an extremely long line and excited customers ready to consume the baked goods. it's so quaint and welcoming. The baked goods were out of this world. It truly reminded me of being in Canada and visiting French bakeries. I'm so glad I have a place near home that I can go and get amazing baked items. It's reasonably price for what you get. may find the prices a little bit high but I feel they are moderate for the items being sold. Open until sold out well that doesn't last long. If you're in the mood for fresh because Thursday through Saturday get up early, start the line!

I've always looked forward to Kim's bakes every weekend during Bakehouse's time at the Frederick market scene and I'm so happy to have their storefront a few blocks away from my house. Honestly everything she makes is amazing but a few of my favorites are her almond croissants, blueberry scones, and cardamom coffee cake. The shop is absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait to see all the amazing things Bakehouse can offer now that they have a storefront space. read more

Best bakery I've been to in the area. Everything I've had was fantastic! They specialize in pastries (croissants, muffins, cookies, dessert bars, etc). If you're in the Frederick, MD area, it's worth a visit. The bakery is open (Thur - Sun @ 8am - 2pm) or until they sell out for that day. I've never seen the place make it until 2pm, that's how well it does. It's a first come first serve setup, there is no online ordering to reserve yourself some goodies. The staff is amazing and friendly and on top of their game. The only issue I've run into sometimes, is not knowing that they've sold out for the day, as I was making my way there. After making the trek there and seeing the Sold Out sign out front, it's like "Noo" . They do try their best to post that they've sold out on social media to give people a heads up, but sometimes they're too busy, that the update gets delayed. So get there early! Be prepared to wait outside in the line to get inside when they open, dress appropriate for the weather. read more

we went on a saturday morning (the earlier the better) and jumped in like for a fresh cinnamon bun the aroma as soon as you walk in reminds you of the holidays with all the baking going on. it's open with a clear screen to see what they have while waiting in line. they have a prosciutto and gouda croissant that was out of this world a perfect balance of sweet and savory the bread is like fresh clouds you must try it and fresh if you can! very nice with pricing and fresh coffee there as well. it's a must if you're in the area. great location right by the creek read more

Thursdays are the best day to go. Definitely have to wait in line any day or time you go but SO worth the wait. Blueberry lemon scones were so good last month! Staff is the nicest people I have ever met. Croissants are to die for. read more

I eagerly drive out of my way to go to Bakehouse. I am extremely picky about my bakeries and desserts in general. The service is wonderful. The selection is fantastic and the items taste even better than they look. The quality in ingredients and construction is evident with every bite. Today I discovered their honey buttermilk biscuits. It was amazing! I never knew there was such a thing and that its flavor and texture would blow my mind, but here we are. Hands down best bakery in the area. read more

This is the most Amazing Bakery. The Pecan Bun is just Delightful. The Croissants are perfect. Everyone starts smiling as soon as they walk through the door. I drive from Baltimore to Frederick MD. The desserts are worth the drive. I asked the owner when he was opening a store in Baltimore. Hopefully he is thinking about it. read more

Superb! No other word to describe this downtown Frederick gem. I found out about Bakehouse recently and had the opportunity to try them out today. I tried a cookie, croissant and morning bun. Omg! The best baked goods I've had since childhood. It's going to be a challenge maintaining my low carb lifestyle but these pastries are worth the extra workout time and effort. We were thrilled when Bakehouse opened their storefront and have been countless times in the short span they've been open. We're always welcomed with friendly faces and their baked goods are consistently delicious. It's difficult not to buy every item they offer because it's all amazing. We love trying out the various croissants and scones but we always come back to their morning bun... there's nothing like it! They are such a great addition to Downtown Frederick and we will be loyal customers for a long time to come! read more

I am actually amazed. These pastries were phenomenal! I got the morning bun, coffee cake, 2 chocolate cookies, apple crumb crossiant, and the cheese Danish. Everything was sooo flaky and yummy. Highly suggest getting there as soon as they open because they sell out quickly! I can't wait to go back and get the prosciutto gruyere crossiant and the white cheddar scallion scone. Also, points to the staff for being extra nice and personable. They have mastered smiling with their eyes while wearing a mask! read more

This place is great! I came by this morning for the first time and was very impressed by the decor and atmosphere. I remember when this used to be a Subway, so it was a nice surprise walking in! The staff behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming. They had a nice arrangement of various pastries and we ended up buying three and an iced coffee. Everything tasted very flavorful and fresh! This is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite to eat in the morning and carry on with your day. In the future I definitely plan on having a pastry at one of their outside tables. I'll be back! read more

I discovered this place at the field fresh farmers market in Frederick, MD. I've tried a lot of her items and everything I've had has been incredible. The croissants are flaky and buttery, the scones have such amazing flavors and aren't super sugary. My personal favorite is the salty chocolate chip cookies. Just the perfect combo of sweet and salt. Ever time I go to the market I have to visit the stall and stock up. Hopefully they get to open a store front soon. But until they do I will wake myself up early on Saturday and go to the market. read more

If you love croissants then you can't go wrong here! We ordered three (the original, jalapeño cheddar corn, and smoked gouda prosciutto) and they all were amazing. The jalapeño croissant has a normal jalapeño spice level (sometimes jalapeños aren't too spicy) so not for those that have a spice intolerance. However, if you are okay with a little heat, the flavor is out of this world! The smoked gouda prosciutto has a more subtle flavor profile allowing you to enjoy more of the deliciousness of the croissant itself. They open at 8 and sell out by 11. Come early if you want the most options. We came at 10 am and they already sold out of blueberry almond croissants and their sticky buns! read more

Bakehouse is a staple in our house! We discovered these delicious pastries on a Saturday at the Field Fresh Farmers Market. Our favorite is the Cinnamon Morning Bun. Everything I have had is delicious from the pastries to the cookies and the cake. Very reasonable prices for the amount of labor that goes into these baked goods. I have ordered bulk orders and had a great experience. I would HIGHLY recommend them!! read more

Many people avoid pork for religious reasons, and dismissing that concern is unacceptable. Accuracy and transparency with ingredients are basic expectations, especially when it comes to meat. We got a few baked good we got silvana was good. The biko was gods cooked well the sweetness was balanced. The restaurant was clean and quiet. The vibe was chill. But that doesn't outweigh the impact of being misled about what I was eating. Trust is broken, and I won't be returning. Gwenies need to train their staff and they need to clearly label meats and take customer concerns seriously especially when religion and dietary restrictions are involved. I have been a fan of Gwenies for years and would even travel to their original location in Rockville MD. Please make sure you check your bowls get to her correct meat you order! I won't be returning such a shame.

Overall it was amazing; it's everything I like in ice cream; something super rice and creamy, and flavors which come from real ingredients instead of extracts or flavorings.

The owner of this establishment is the least professional, passive-aggressive, and toxic boss that I have ever had the displeasure of knowing. My daughter worked there for four months. There were numerous instances, including over the July 4th holiday, where she was scheduled to work, and was literally told not to come in just hours before her shift was to start. This happened over and over again, and is completely unacceptable. My daughter missed out on babysitting opportunities and a Fourth of July vacation because she was scheduled to work, only to have those hours canceled at the last minute. Who does that? When she was first hired, my daughter had no problem getting 15 to 20 hours per week. She let Miss Deb know she would be interested in getting at least that many hours per week once the summer started. Quite the opposite, she was only given 5 to 10 hours per week consistently with no explanation as to why. Miss Deb thought nothing of trash talking my daughter to the other employees. The other employees who got along well with my daughter, proceeded to let her know all of the terrible things Miss Deb said about her behind her back. My daughter continued to work there, as she was trying to save money for college. My daughter has had other jobs in the past as a lifeguard and a barista. Nothing compares to the poor treatment, lack of respect, and overall toxic environment that Deb promotes in her establishment. Truly, she should be starring in the sequel of the movie "Horrible Bosses." I understand this is a family business, created by her parents. She should be absolutely ashamed of herself for making this the legacy of "Sweet Babes Creamery." Disgraceful behavior from a grown women towards teenagers who are ready and willing to work. Shame on you.

I visited this spot this morning and had a delicious cappuccino! The barista even put a little…read morebunny on it. So I was really hoppy about finding this place. Until I entered the bathroom. And saw the "under" orientation of the toilet paper, which violates the original patent for toilet paper holders from 1891, where the paper clearly goes over the top. The "over" configuration: * prevents the roll from brushing the wall * makes it easier to grab with one hand * reduces accidental unrolling * and, most importantly, does not make decent people feel like they're living in a lawless society. What you have here is bathroom anarchy. I must admit that tile and brushed metal fixtures actually look really nice, which somehow makes the backward roll even more upsetting. It's like a beautifully plated meal served on the floor. Moreover, the ceiling contains approximately 400 judgmental eyes observing you while you attempt to live your life. The wallpaper on the ceiling (on the ceiling!!!) has a pattern based on the "evil eye" motif (sometimes called nazar), which shows up in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern design. Traditionally it's supposed to ward off bad luck or jealousy. All it does in this case is confirm the establishment has abandoned reason and at least one of the people who work has met a psychedelic mushroom. Still, the vibe everywhere else in this place is amazing and the coffees are very very good!

This review comes from a place of love... and frustration. If this review were only about the product, there would clearly be 5 stars above. The Bakehouse makes excellent (if overly large) baked goods and pastries, full stop. (And the brewed coffee is pretty good too!) Moreover, the personnel are extraordinarily friendly and generous. However, this review is only 2 stars because of two persistent problems. The first is the speed at which they process customers. Nearly every morning, there's a LONG line outside the doors of the bakery, often snaking many yards down the street. This forces customers to wait a *very* long time. We regularly turn away every time we see the line extend outside the Bakehouse because we're simply not willing to wait 30-45 minutes for a coffee and a pastry. This long line would be totally understandable for a relatively new establishment that hasn't yet developed efficient processes for conducting business. But that's not the case for the Bakehouse -- it has been in its current location for some time. The second issue is the interior ambience. In short, it's plain and not terribly inviting. The place seems somewhat schizophrenic -- it cannot decide whether it wants to be a cafe where people come and enjoy baked products on the premises, or merely a bakery where customers come in, pick things up, and go. Given the long line snaking thru the interior and onto the street, the spartan interior, and the lack of drinks beyond brewed coffee, it seems like they're aiming for the latter. If that's the case, why isn't there a pick-up window/door/table off to the side, where pre-orders can be picked up quickly? An online pre-order capability, with side window/door/table pickup, would provide more business predictability to the owners. In summary, having a long line of hungry (hangry?) customers is probably a good problem for the owners to have, but what this obscures is how many customers are turning away because they see the line and don't want to wait. We are truly hoping the Bakehouse remains a part of the downtown scene, and our fervent wish is they focus on process improvements. If so, we look forward to updating this review to 5 stars. read more

I am not an early bird but by all means I try to make it their before they sell out. Really good pastries - Strawberry Glazed Croissants, Salty Chocolate Chip Cookies... can't go wrong with anything from there. The service is great also! Looking forward to going to Bakehouse tomorrow read more
