We chose to sit outside, and the staff brought our food directly to our table as soon as it was ready and the food arrived in a timely manner. They offer a wide variety of bagels. we ordered the smoked lox bagel on a jalapeño bagel and the chicken salad on a sun dried tomato bagel. The chicken salad sandwich was a bit dry. Looking back, I regret not paying the extra 50 cents for lettuce. I also didn't get much sun dried tomato flavor from the bagel itself. The smoked lox bagel was good, but not the best I've had. The sandwich felt a little sloppy and unevenly assembled, with some bites getting much more of certain ingredients than others. The drinks were probably the biggest disappointment. I originally wanted an iced tea, but they only offered regular unsweetened iced tea. As someone who typically enjoys green tea or jasmine tea, I found the cold tea selection pretty limited unless you're ordering hot tea. The iced coffee also had a strange aftertaste that reminded me of charcoal. In addition, the iced drinks were served in hot coffee cups, which felt a little odd. Decent spot for some bagel sandwich and coffee. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese and it was solid. The potatoes were filling and hot. A little pricey but what can you do. My orange creamsicle was what stood out to me, really tasty. My wife's coffee got the job done. It took about 15 mins for the food to come out (during like 1pm on a Thursday afternoon), and parking was a little limited. The person who took our order was super nice too. While visiting family, we had enough time to walk around town for the morning. We stopped in for some lattes since it was cold to us Californians. The man working the front counter was super kind and very sweet. The lattes were good and fairly priced. The best part about this place is that he knew every single customer's name and they knew his. This is the PERFECT hole in the wall spot for breakfast in Frederick. They're very customer service focus with a great menu of breakfast and lunch items at a very affordable price. It's a bit on the small side but there's plenty of room if you eat in as most order their food to go. Listen, you know it's good when the cops are eating there lol You can tell the bagels and croissants are made fresh and the bagels are awesome (try the Jalapeno everything bagel) They have a wide variety of coffee and espressos, too. We were in Frederick today and stopped in for a coffee (and bagel). My first sip of my Cafe Orleans Latte was amazing...it may be the best latte I have ever had. From the first sip to the last it was utterly amazing. I also had an egg everything bagel with the lox spread. Came here for breakfast. Latte was terrible (think lukewarm milk, lots of syrup, and no espresso, which caused my depresso). The actual breakfast was okay, but something I could whip up in a minute and tastier honestly. Black coffee was lukewarm too and nothing to write home about. Service was good though. Located in a super charming little area in Frederick, this bagel shop is the perfect addition to the row of little shops and restaurants. Parking was not too hard to find which was a bonus. The shop itself was small but had some seating both inside and outside. There were even hard hats in the front for sitting outside to protect from acorns falling on your head which was really funny. They had a wide variety of bagels and sandwiches on the menu and I got the sun dried tomato bagel with the sun dried tomato cream cheese. I haven't seen the sun dried tomato flavor profile that much so I was intrigued. I definitely made the right choice. The amount of cream cheese was great and the flavor was great! The bagel was good. The sausage on the breakfast sandwich was perfectly browned to a crisp. American cheese is not my favorite, and in this case it didn't really melt on the sandwich. Probably could have used some butter or mayo because the bagel was a bit dry for a sandwich. Could not locate any hot sauce, but every table has a bottle of ketchup, so that worked well enough. The coffee was hot, thin, and acidic, as is the common style in the region. Also not my preferred profile for bean juice, but it does taste better with food. Pittsburgh Steelers memorabilia plasters every square inch of the walls. The floors are sloping and creaking. Beverage coolers buzz loudly and vibrate the floor while your order. I hate leaving a bad review. And actually, I basically never ever do it. But I can't with the food here. I got a mandarin orange cake, it smelled like rancid milk, and didn't taste good at all. I got three bagels, two sweet with strawberry cream cheese and one jalapeño with sun dried tomato cream cheese. The strawberry cream cheese was not good at all. Store bought is easily better. The jalapeño bagel was ok. The sun dried tomato cream cheese was ok. The servers were kind and friendly. But I will definitely not be eating here ever again. I'm nauseous from the sour milk smell. What a find! An Italian Peach Soda was featured, which I had and it was delicious. As were the bagels with sun dried tomato cream cheese and veggie cream cheese. Their breakfast sandwiches are by far my favorite - the bagels are thick, the eggs are real, and the cheese is melty. You can't beat it! They have a large menu of food and drink selections, so I look forward to trying additional options. Lastly, the owner is a rockstar! I really wish I could recommend Beans & Bagels. Unfortunately, I can't. Neither my girlfriend nor I had a positive experience. We had breakfast at 10:30AM on a Sunday. The restaurant was busy but not crazy busy. Outdoor dining was full as was the front dining room, however, there were three empty tables in the back section. When we arrived there were four people waiting for takeout and three in line to order. Okay, so maybe it was crazy busy for this relatively small restaurant/coffee shop. So what led to our poor experience? * the first employee/owner I came in contact with to place our order was grumpy and unwelcoming, as was the server/food runner. Neither wanted to be there and their lack of enthusiasm showed. * as to the food, the meal was a reflection of the cooks lack of passion for creating great food. The eggs were overcooked, the hash browns were undercooked, to the point of being inedible. They were basically raw potatoes on the inside, but nicely browned on the outside. Strange. They had little seasoning and even less taste. The bacon was limp, fatty, paper thin and wet with grease. The highlight of the meal was the rye toast. * as to the decor, they say a picture paints a thousand words. See the photo of the dilapidated vinyl bench seat attached. I'm not sure what was worse, the food or sitting in the hot restaurant on top of sticky electrical tape. Based on the condition of this piece of furniture, I'd say the owner of this restaurant has just given up. Not recommended. read more

The food is good, but the bagels are okay, better than supermarket quality and many other restaurants but not as good as Panera or even close to NY City bagels. Nice neighborhood eatery. This was a coffee and bagel shop recommended by her friend that was super close to the air bnb we were staying out, so we decided to try it out! There was a line out the door, which means this is definitely a spot lived by the locals! I went with a black coffee and an egg and sausage on a jalepeno everything bagel. My girlfriend got a cafe nut latte with an egg, ham and cheese on a plain bagel. And our friends got some egg and cheese bagel sandwiches as well! Craving a good bagel? Look no further! I haven't met anyone that doesn't like bagels yet but if I did, I'd probably bring 'em here to change their minds. I know parking in downtown Frederick is a B sometimes but it's worth it! Nestled in-between other shops, you'll find the unassuming B&B. It's a small little cafe with a bit of a retro-ish, no frills vibe going on and a forever friendly face behind the counter! Bagels are made fresh and you can even call ahead to place your orders. If you do choose to order in store though, it's not much of a wait which is nice! There are lots of different flavored bagels but I think my favorite is the jalapeño everything bagel so far. Add cheese, eggs, and a side of home fries and you've got yourself a very tasty breakfast (or brunch)! You can also order your bfast sandwich with bread or a croissant/wrap but bagels are the way to go! They also have a bunch of other breakfast options and deli sandwich options for lunch but I haven't tried any yet. The coffee menu is also fairly large and I haven't been disappointed with anything I've ordered yet! My current fav though is an iced Kurt's Special - it literally hits the coffee spot for me every time. The service is always great and I love that they remember their customers and their orders if you come in often enough. The only reason I docked a star is because I wish they offered some turkey bacon or turkey sausage; otherwise this is a solid spot to grab a bite! This place is like a tattoo. You forget how bad it is until you go back again. Lack of options also factors into reluctant repeat visits. We want to support this small business but the bagels, coffee, and ambiance are all equally terrible, every time. The bagels are crunchy, stale, and brought in from somewhere else. There is no other way to describe the coffee other than it's disgusting and lukewarm at best (on numerous occasions). The interior is dark, gloomy, unorganized, and dated. Today it smelled so bad of Clorox bleach that I could not wait inside for our bagels. The staff is meh, sometime pleasant and other times in a state of chaos. I came here for the first time because I had heard great reviews about it. After trying the food and coffee here I now know what the hype is all about. It's a vintage, cozy breakfast/ lunch cafe. Perfect for a family gathering, quick to go or a date. It serves all purpose. Service was Tier 1 and food top notch. We ordered egg and cheese on an everything jalapeño bagel, egg and cheese on a croissant , chocolate cream cheese cake (made by the owner's wife) . Also ordered caramel latte and mocha. Bagel was soft and fresh , full of flavor, eggs were perfectly done and I couldn't have asked for a better combo. Croissant was flaky and buttery and with egg and cheese , it was a royalty. Cake was simple yet delicious and reminded me of how my mom and aunts made cakes when we were kids. Simple and delicious. One weekend morning, my initial goal was to just get a Latte and call it a day, but instead, I got something else knowing that I had foodie plans within the hour at a different spot. As I stood in line, I looked above me to see the layout of what was in store for me - it had a list on a blackboard of all the different drink choices and what is in them - I saw latte, expresso, mocha cream, hot chocolate and everything else in between. I decided to try their Café Nut Cream, described as expresso, steamed milk & hazelnut syrup. I eventually added a little sugar and it was perfect to taste (will try again). Now as I was paying for my drink, I noticed that they have food too (outside of the beans & bagels). So I opted to get their Egg Salad Melt on Sourdough (not a fan of Rye which was one of 2 other choices on bread), however I got 1/2 as I only wanted just a taste and that I got. The sandwich lived up to its name as it was certainly melted all over. There was no dainty way to eat one of these sandwiches as I had egg salad falling out of my bread as I ate it, but it was too good to think about those things. I actually enjoyed both the sandwich and the drink and neither were heavy. It ended up being a great way in starting my day. read more
