Bacon Egg & Cheese on a Jalapeño Everything Bagle
    Ryan V.

This is the PERFECT hole in the wall spot for breakfast in Frederick. They're very customer service focus with a great menu of breakfast and lunch items at a very affordable price. It's a bit on the small side but there's plenty of room if you eat in as most order their food to go. Listen, you know it's good when the cops are eating there lol You can tell the bagels and croissants are made fresh and the bagels are awesome (try the Jalapeno everything bagel) They have a wide variety of coffee and espressos, too. My only wish is that they were open before 8am but other than that I have nothing but great things to say about my experiences there. They do take cards etc. and I always call my order in ahead of time. I won't even mention that they're Steelers fans

Ruben was delicious. Staff friendly. Clean. A Steelers hang out place. Great memorabilia around the restaurant to look at.

Egg sausage and cheese breakfast sandwich on Jalapeno Everything Bagel.

The bagel was good. The sausage on the breakfast sandwich was perfectly browned to a crisp. American cheese is not my favorite, and in this case it didn't really melt on the sandwich. Probably could have used some butter or mayo because the bagel was a bit dry for a sandwich. Could not locate any hot sauce, but every table has a bottle of ketchup, so that worked well enough. The coffee was hot, thin, and acidic, as is the common style in the region. Also not my preferred profile for bean juice, but it does taste better with food. Pittsburgh Steelers memorabilia plasters every square inch of the walls. The floors are sloping and creaking. Beverage coolers buzz loudly and vibrate the floor while your order. It's a tiny old shop that is equally as cozy as it is imperfect.

Beans & bagels was the perfect 'hole in the wall' spot to grab a quick and delicious breakfast before our day of sight seeing. Their sandwiches were filling, and you can tell the bagel and croissant were both baked fresh. The home fries were also perfectly seasoned, and the serving size was generous. The staff ate friendly and love to joke around. Lots of locals were stopping in to grab their food to go, and the staff were greeting them with first names. Overall, recommend.

This is our FAVORITE bagel shop in Frederick! Since we moved to the area earlier this year, we've tried many places that offer a bagel selection but nothing measures up to Beans & Bagels. Their breakfast sandwiches are by far my favorite - the bagels are thick, the eggs are real, and the cheese is melty. You can't beat it! They have a large menu of food and drink selections, so I look forward to trying additional options. Lastly, the owner is a rockstar! Every time I've seen him, he's greeting frequent customers by name and asking about their lives, or joking around and making small talk with new customers. Love it!

I really wish I could recommend Beans & Bagels. Unfortunately, I can't. Neither my girlfriend nor I had a positive experience. We had breakfast at 10:30AM on a Sunday. The restaurant was busy but not crazy busy. Outdoor dining was full as was the front dining room, however, there were three empty tables in the back section. When we arrived there were four people waiting for takeout and three in line to order. Okay, so maybe it was crazy busy for this relatively small restaurant/coffee shop. So what led to our poor experience? * the first employee/owner I came in contact with to place our order was grumpy and unwelcoming, as was the server/food runner. Neither wanted to be there and their lack of enthusiasm showed. * as to the food, the meal was a reflection of the cooks lack of passion for creating great food. The eggs were overcooked, the hash browns were undercooked, to the point of being inedible. They were basically raw potatoes on the inside, but nicely browned on the outside. Strange. They had little seasoning and even less taste. The bacon was limp, fatty, paper thin and wet with grease. The highlight of the meal was the rye toast. * as to the decor, they say a picture paints a thousand words. See the photo of the dilapidated vinyl bench seat attached. I'm not sure what was worse, the food or sitting in the hot restaurant on top of sticky electrical tape. Based on the condition of this piece of furniture, I'd say the owner of this restaurant has just given up. Not recommended.

Nice family run business in the heart of Frederick. The food is good, but the bagels are okay, better than supermarket quality and many other restaurants but not as good as Panera or even close to NY City bagels. Nice neighborhood eatery. The salmon spread was very good with fresh veggies in it, the veggie omelet and egg, cheese and bacon were good. Want proof this is a good place to eat? How about the 18 years in business or the lines to get in the door? Pretty good indicators I think. I recommend this establishment. I

We woke up this morning hungover and in need of coffee and grease to bring us back to life. We did a quick search of bagel places in the area and hopped in the car to Frederick. We both ordered bacon egg and cheeses on bagels (Everything and Jalapeño Everything). Both were tasty. I ordered a Cafe Caramel Latte and Dan a black coffee. All items totaled $20. We learned the owner is a Steelers fan and signs were proudly displayed in the store. COVID policies being enforced - face masks to enter and worn by staff. Dining room is closed with a few tables available outside on the sidewalk. Beans & Bagels is located Downtown with street parking and parking garages available.

I had driven two hours and was hungry, but I was also committed to making good decisions. Or at least mostly good decisions... The hostess offered me a seat at the second-floor bar rather than the quoted 25-30 minute wait. Great! Solo diners love surprise upgrades. Unfortunately, when I got upstairs, the one "available" seat had apparently been claimed by a diaper bag and a giant straw sunhat belonging to the woman sitting next to it holding a too-little-to-walk baby sitting at the bar. Uhhh...this isn't going to work. Back downstairs I went. I gave them my name and number, found a shady spot outside, and settled in for what I assumed would be a long wait. Five minutes later, my table was ready. Thank you, Universe! My server greeted me with water immediately, explained the QR code menu situation, and told me not to order through the app because she'd be right back. No worries, friend. I'd already done my homework. I knew exactly what I wanted. One Martha Stewart's Prison Pizza ($22), please. (Sausage, broccoli, ricotta, Calabrian chili peppers, lemon oil, and sea salt.) I asked for the chili peppers on the side because I know myself. I like adventure. I don't enjoy possibly setting my mouth on fire. And a Diet Pepsi ($3.50), because balance. While I waited, I people-watched, which is one of my favorite hobbies. White Rabbit was PACKED. The patio was full. The downstairs bar was full. Upstairs was full. Couples, groups of girlfriends, older folks, younger folks, families, solo diners...everyone seemed happy to be there. The place itself is pretty small, which explains the wait. Six tables downstairs, maybe eight bar seats, more seating upstairs, and a constant dance of servers carrying food through the same front door customers use. Add the "please wait to be seated" crowd gathering in the narrow hallway and I'd describe things as organized chaos. But once I was seated, I was perfectly comfortable and out of the traffic pattern. One cool touch I noticed: outlets and USB ports built right into the front of the bar. Maybe that's common and I've somehow missed it all these years, but I thought it was pretty neat. Then my pizza arrived. Oh good lawd. OH. GOOD. LAWD. This pizza was SO GOOD! I knew from the first bite that I was in trouble. There was no sauce, which surprised me at first, but after approximately three seconds I no longer cared. The sausage was plentiful. The broccoli added texture. The ricotta was creamy and rich. And that lemon oil?! That lemon oil set it off! Everything just worked together perfectly. The Calabrian peppers arrived on the side exactly as requested. I bravely sampled a very small amount on my fork before desecrating my pizza and quickly determined that folks with stronger heat tolerance than me will absolutely love them. They were just a little too spicy for my delicate tastebuds. Thankfully, the pizza was incredible without them. And those slices? MONSTERS. I ate one and seriously contemplated a second before reminding myself that I had dessert plans elsewhere. A box was requested. Self-control was exercised. Barely. As a solo diner, I also want to give White Rabbit extra points. Multiple staff members checked on me throughout the meal. I never felt forgotten, rushed, or weird sitting by myself. Everyone was warm, kind, and made me feel completely comfortable. I really appreciated that. My total bill came to $32.44 including tip which felt really reasonable given the amount of pizza I consumed and brought home. Worth every penny. I'm already scheming my next two-hour drive back. Maybe a smashburger. Maybe those Brussels sprouts everyone keeps raving about. Maybe another pizza. Maybe all of it! I highly recommend checking out White Rabbit. Make it a destination, not just a stop while you're in the area. Don't let the size of the place or the wait scare you off. It's totally worth it. PRO TIP: If you park in the Church Street Parking Garage, look for the staircase labeled "STAIR 3." White Rabbit is literally right outside the door at the bottom. No hide-and-seek required!
