They will charge another $185 ( or more) to do contact lenses trial and exam. I was told by another eye care company that I wasn't a fit for contacts, but this doc at Battleground assured me I was. I tried 2 different pairs when I first got started and they didn't work. I kinda gave up but also had other concerns( back surgery) that were more pressing. I think the doctor made a bad choice saying I was able to use contact lenses and now I dont know what to think since they never gave me the full year that I paid for. Very disappointed.

After a few dialogues they did provide sample packs of contacts until that time. Fast forward to this year: I had a baby and missed my yearly deadline (somehow they send reminders to my husband and not to me). But anywho-another 3 month wait for an eye exam and refusal to provide any sample contacts. We now have appointments made within 2 weeks at another facility. Fortunately for them they're doing great business, however it's unfortunate for their existing and long term patients.

I'm honesty very disappointed with Oman Eyecare. When I first started going there many years ago,…read morethey were extremely friendly and I never had any billing issues. However, on 2 of the last 3 visits, I've had charge disputes which came as unnecessary surprises. When I established this latest appointment, I made it perfectly clear that I expected this visit to be covered by my insurance at no charge (since I had a previous problem with them in this regard, I wanted to make sure there was no misunderstanding). The person on the line confirmed they had my current insurance information on file, and that there would be no charge. They also acknowledged that their records indicated I visited Duke University Eye Center every year for a diagnostic eye exam, so the visit to Oman would be related to my optical Rx. Again, given a past billing issue with them, when I arrived for my appointment, I made it a point of mentioning to the desk person that my visit was to be at no charge. I confirmed the same information about going to Duke Eye Center every year. No questions or issues were raised about anything I said. Honestly, if they had mentioned there would be a charge for just having a portion of the exam performed (I didn't need Oman to replicate what I had done by Duke Eye Center a couple months prior), I would have had the entire exam done or chose to leave. The person who initially examined me had the personality of a dead fish. Totally unfriendly, disengaged, and seemed as if she would have liked to be anyplace else. Subsequently, I saw the optometrist, he went through the vision procedure, and I proceeded to the front desk to check out. All I expected was to be handed my prescription. I indicated I'd be back to visit their optical shop later, since I wanted my wife with me to choose a frame. At that point, the desk person indicated that my charge is $54. I told them that this visit was to be at no charge, as is noted on my insurance card for in-network providers like Oman. I also stated that this had been previously confirmed by them. I then got fed some nonsense about not having the "complete exam," so I had to pay for the refractory (determining the vision Rx) portion. Now, mind you, the "complete exam" INCLUDES the refractory portion. If I had been told this upfront, I would have gone through the complete exam, even though it was entirely unnecessary, or just left. Obviously, there was no question from the onset as to why I scheduled an appointment with them or that my expectation was that their service would be without charge to me. Long story short is that I didn't pay them, they stated they'd submit a claim to Humana's EyeMed Vision anyway, and I walked out of there without my Rx. In essence, the visit was an entire waste of my time. It's now been 2-1/2 weeks, and I've heard nothing from them whatsoever. So, I guess I just don't get my Rx prescription or even know what they've done with the claim. Overall, it was an entirely negative experience. I place the blame on them for poor communication, having individuals on their staff who apparently don't care about friendly interactions with their patients, and for seemingly trying to bill for services where a patient had clearly communicated their expectations otherwise.

The first time we order the glasses they came within a week but I was NEVER asked by miss 25 years to test them out to see if I could see or not and I had several other appointments to go to, After a couple of days TRYING them that is when I saw that a WALMART $20 pair was 100 times better than these, I called and left a message and after 2 hrs no one called me, So I called back and the lady in the glass section answered that is when she pulled the 25 yrs crap.I was neverl explained to that LINE bifocal lense would not go to the edge, I have had them BEFORE and they DID. But here ARROGANCE was really shining through. I complained and all I got was to reschedule the appointment. I asked to speak to the office manager right after the older eye doctor checked the lens prescription was a little off. When we told the office manager she told us they have had to talk to them before, evidently they have NO FEAR on how they treat the patient. When we talked to the male with the NEW lens order he did NOT really want to listen to us. This was right before Christmas, When we have NOT gotten the blasses well into the NEW YEAR I called and i was told another 7 to 14 days so what took about a week before was now going to take a MONTH. No explanation NO apology. So I had to go another month without seeing!!! I called the office manager again to find out was up and THEN I got the truth, the people that made them SCREWED them up for a second time and had to remake them AGAIN. The folks in the glass side new this and NO CALL NO APOLOGY. When I FINALLY got the glasses today the EYE DOCTOR receptionist waited on me. and the ones in the glass side there was both the male and female with ONLY one customer, I guess I was NOT important enough to bring to me, CHECK the fit, CHECK the lens and MAYBE an apology for it taking so long. If you need a good EYE Doctor they are GOOD, if they order glasses or contacts for YOU, AVOID this side of the office. You will not only be TREATED better but same some money and if they screw up you might get a little something for incovenience . My total cost before issurance for ONE pair of lineless biofocals was $928 and my cost was $502.40. If I had went to Visionworks I could have gotten TWO pairs for a little more AND i would have gottent hem WITHIN a week.

There is also an in house eye glass store. My surgery was done on the 2nd floor where they have a state of the art surgery set up. Staff there explained everything in detail prior to surgery and after. The anesthesiologist did a great job in making sure I was comfortable and pain free. My follow up today was also great. My eyesight is already looking great. All my questions were answered. I am highly satisfied with the entire process, including these assistance in securing financing for both surgeries. It all started with a 45-minute wait past our appointment time in the lobby, where there was a person screaming nonstop. This was never addressed by the staff, and it left my school aged child terrified--she wouldn't let go of me and just clung to me the whole time. During the appointment, the staff asked me in front of my child whether she was "jealous of her older siblings" and making up eye problems just to get glasses. This was not only inappropriate, but it made an already uncomfortable situation worse. Then, when the doctor finally came in, we were told my child needed glasses to see properly. We were told that our insurance would cover the appointment 100%, but they didn't cover anything because the office had processed the insurance incorrectly. I called multiple times, left messages, and eventually had to send a letter to get someone to address it. When I finally received the bill, the staff was extremely rude and told me it was my fault for not providing insurance that would cover the exam--despite being explicitly told my insurance would cover it fully. In the end, I'm left paying for an exam that was emotionally draining for my child and should have been covered by my insurance. The whole experience was frustrating, and I was really disappointed by the lack of professionalism from both the staff and the doctor. I would highly recommend finding a different eye care provider. We will not be returning to this office.
