WARNING about this business. It's one of the worst services I have experienced. My dad died few days ago and was sent to this funeral home, sadly. Went to see my dad and to my shock his body was shown at a table, covered in an old blanket, his hair tangled, his body wet from the fridge that if you love your family members it will cut you deep to witness. The tall guy the owner is the slimiest, the most UN-COMPASSIONATE human beings I have come across. When asked why didn't you clean my dads face at least, he answered by saying I didn't pay for that and raised his voice, threatening me that he will call police to remove me from there, while all I did was asking a question. He even made a remark about me not speaking good English and how I have to learn English before I talk to him. If you have an accent don't go to that racist guy. There was another older "gentleman " if I can call him that, I said can I talk to you about this since the taller empty vessel there was agitated, and the other employee said no I'm not talking to you. PLEASE, if you love your family members don't take them to this funeral place. I will make it my mission to warn as many people as I can to stay way from this family business. I may even go across the street with a sign to warn poor people, especially foreigners, to stay way. Don't get fooled by the smiles these are cold, narcissistic people with no compassion for the dead or alive. They were patient, compassionate, and guided us through each decision, ultimately helping us set up a very reasonable prepaid plan. We have also attended several funerals at this location over the years, and the staff has consistently been professional, courteous, and respectful. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and able to accommodate large gatherings. My sons and I spent time with a funeral home representative in Fairfax and felt like that there had to be another facility that would be more family friendly and less business like. We scheduled an appointment with Mike Post and we were very pleased with his assistance in making our selections. He was honest with us and very much approachable in person and on the phone....always available to talk. We had so many questions and he had the answers for us. He was also very, very patient with some of our questions. When it came time for the service, Mike had it under control. Everything was in it's place...even the American Flag was provided to us since my husband was in the military. I did not know that they would do this....we loved it. Our Mother passed away this past June 2013. We chose Baker-Post to perform the cremation services. They came to pick up Mother the day she passed away. When the cremation was completed, her ashes were placed into a temporary plastic urn container - awaiting the more formal urn. And they stepped up to the plate and transferred the ashes from the temporary urn to the formal urn - once they received it - even though we had purchased the urn from Stonewall Memory Gardens. Stonewall is supposed to service their own hardware, meaning handle the transfer - and they refused to do so. The staff at Baker-Post Funeral Home saw a bad situation, stepped in where they did not have to - and took care of it for us - at no charge. Truly a professional and class act. read more

I would like to comment on Baker-Post Funeral Home's handling of my father's funeral and cremation; in particular, my identification of my father's body in 2016. My oldest daughter accompanied me to the viewing, for emotional support; at no time did I want her to actually see her grandfather's body, as it had been six days since the death. When I arrived Mike Post did not greet us with any compassion, and he did not express any sympathies to me or my daughter on our loss; he simply noted that there would be papers to sign, gestured toward a door, and said, "It's in the back, on the right." I thought by "It" he was referring to an office where we would sign papers before I identified my father in what I believed would be a viewing room. So I walked through the door, with my daughter behind me, and realized that the "it" to which he was referring was my father, who was on a gurney at the back of a large reception room, a few feet from a table on which a coffee maker was brewing coffee for an upcoming event. This was not only a shock, but one of the most disrespectful stagings I can imagine for anyone-- especially for someone who served his country during wartime and who retired as a U.S. Marine Corps Colonel. I would like to express my disappointment, on behalf of my entire family, in Baker -Post's handling of this occasion, as well as several other matters (for example, their decision to not bring floral arrangements that had been sent to the family to the ceremony at Quantico National Cemetery, citing a policy that the number of arrangements at a service were limited-- even though the Cemetery assured us this was NOT the case). Baker-Post made a difficult time more traumatic by simply withholding common decency and respect; I consider this establishment a disgrace to its profession. read more

I would like to comment on Baker-Post Funeral Home's handling of my daughter's funeral. In particular, the assigned Funeral Director was not available during set up & only later seen fraternizing with the "estranged" husband in the back of the room much later. His inattentiveness & lack of compassion only made a difficult situation more traumatic when approached by family members of the deceased about matters such as (absence of) sign in book, prayer cards, or disbursement of flowers (they sent). Many of these family members travelled as far as New England to pay their final respects to a 35 year old mother of 3 who left us too soon. A close Aunt to the deceased was so distraught over how we were treated sent a private email to the owners (2) expressing disappointment on behalf of the entire family. They were not present the day of the Service nor had we any contact with them prior to. Rather than show some sign of compassion, decency, or respect and address the concerns with the author directly they immediately shared the email with the Funeral Director in question, their son. You can imagine our shock, 2 days after we said goodbye to our daughter, when we received his angry telcon wanting to know who she was and debate her comments. She gave the 1st of 2 eulogies following the Pastor, had he paid attention. Mike Post further added fuel to the fire by "blasting" a reply, adding several recipients, in the vain of how dare you criticize my son and we have a relationship with the other family outside of the business. Of further note he stated at his direction all interactions were "memorialized" including telcons, conversations with Pastor, and the day of the Service. Sounds like something that should be disclosed and other customers made aware of. I end restating the comments of another posted review: I consider this establishment a disgrace to its profession. read more

He was extremely kind and caring and just a blessing during the emotional experience. He was really able to make a tough situation easier to deal with. Most expensive cremation service in town. I have been calling funeral homes all day to get quotes on direct cremation here in the Manassas area. There are at least 4 funeral homes that provide direct cremation and Baker-Post is the most expensive of them all at over $2000. Ridiculous rip-off when competitors are charging $900 for the same services. It is very important to cost compare death expenses to avoided getting ripped off in your time of grief. My father passed away suddenly in late December and I have nothing but praise for the way Baker Post assisted in everything from retrieving my father's body, working with my family and kindly getting my father presentable for a small family only viewing prior to his cremation. They were spot-on in every way; generous, and gave "over and above" service. More than one issue stood out as wrong... the staff came across as cold and clearly the owners primary concern is solely in profit. My sister passed away on 26 January. This is the first death that had happened in my family in the United States, so I had no idea what to do. I called a few places, and I was not impressed after speaking to the Funeral Directors on the phone. My other sister and I needed to find a funeral home fast, so we could bring out sister from Japan. I checked out a few reviews on Yelp, and decided on Baker-Post Funeral Home. They met my expectations, and even more. They were very sympathetic and understanding of our pain. Additionally, I didn't feel like they were just trying to make some money off of us. I felt like they genuinely cared. They helped us choose the right flowers, caterers, and funeral options. I am a huge techie, and I thought it was great that we could webcast the funeral to our family and friends who weren't able to make it. I am big on getting any questions answered promptly, which they did. I could email or call, and I would get a response in less than 30 minutes. Even if I asked the same question again, the Funeral Director didn't seem annoyed or frustrated. Even when my parents' wanted to visit my sister for a second time before the funeral, the Funeral Director didn't look irritated. He accommodated us, and we were able to visit with my sister more than once. The day of the funeral arrived, and with it, came a huge snow storm. The funeral home still kept the funeral going. They even offered to reschedule it, but we decided to go ahead. Two hours before the funeral, we were informed that the Chaplain who was going to speak at my sister's funeral wasn't going to show up. We freaked out because we didn't know how we were going to find someone in such a short time. The Funeral Director contacted his minister, picked him up, and everything went ahead as planned. The webcast was great, and we felt as though, everyone was there without them actually being there. I saw it the next day, and the webcast was clear and shot beautifully. They also made a life tribute video of my sister's life, and that was more than I could imagine. Everyone was impressed and kept saying that my sister's funeral was beautifully done. The flowers were gorgeous, and it showed the integrity of the funeral home for dealing with companies who produced amazing work. I hope that a tragedy never hits the people I love. However, if it did, this would be the place that I recommend. The place is beautiful, and the people there are amazing. I am so glad that out of all the places I could have chosen, I chose this place because my sister was taken care of, and so were all of us who she left behind. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Baker-Post team. True compassion and professionalism from start to finish. I was looking at several funeral homes in the area as my father was terminally ill with cancer. I knew upon my first visit to Baker-Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center that they were the right fit for our family. Not more than a few days later, my father passed and the Baker-Post team was at our door within 90 minutes of hospice alerting them. It happened early in the morning hours, so we asked them to arrive before daybreak, if they could, to avoid having neighbors aware of everything so early on in the process. The funeral home is an hour from our home and they made it happen. The 2 gentlemen who arrived on scene took such care and precision when taking my father out of our home (which included bringing him down 3 flights of stairs in a narrow town-home stairwell); we were all very thankful. By 10am, Mike Ward with the team had contacted us to setup a time for us to come up to the funeral home. We were in his office by 2pm, handling all of the business we needed to for arrangements. They took care of everything from cremation, to the digital photo slideshow, we were able to provide music from my father's ipod to play, programs, paper photos in frames, and even provided us with a live stream option so our family overseas could "attend". My father was an incredible musician, he was a teacher in the community and his passion was playing the drums. Baker-Post allowed us to setup his entire drum kit for the service - it was perfect. The payment process was a breeze as well, they clearly laid out the policy and what we could expect to pay by when; we never once felt like it was about the profit with Baker-Post. It was compassion first, throughout the entire thing. The service was absolutely beautiful. To Mike Post, Jenn Kakar, Joe Dougan, and especially Mike Ward and Bobby -- Thank you from the bottom of my family's heart for being with us during this difficult event. Words could never express how eternally grateful we truly are. My brother died very unexpectedly and we were referred to baker post. They did a phenomenal job. They made a terrible situation a lot easier to deal with. We got exactly the service we wanted. They were very upfront with the pricing and there were no surprises at all with the final bill. Their pricing was also very fair and competitive.
