we paid almost $20,000 and were rushed out of the funeral home. they kept turning music on and off during the service, the staff there were very disrespectful and rude. the funeral director we planned with was great. but whoever staff was hosting us for the viewing was shouldn't work there. they have no sympathy for families or people. we were rushed to start the service when we were told it was fine and we could wait for a few more people to show up we were never given a time to finish, but within an hour after the public viewing we were being rushed to finish everything and leave. they packed everything up, turned the slideshow off as people were looking at it, refused to leave and let the family grieve alone and locked the doors behind people so they couldn't get back in. I won't ever come here for anyone in my family again. the price was obnoxious compared to other funeral homes and the service was terrible. read more

There is ample parking here and the main space was large enough to hold the large amount of people who were in attendance. Overall the staff was helpful in getting us to the appropriate place. Awful. If I could give this place negative ratings, I would. The most disrespectful, unprofessional workers ever. First of all, the men were not dressed nicely at all. They failed to introduce themselves, and the first thing they asked me was if there were maggots in the body. I prefer a funeral home that provides great services and doesn't focus on a loved one rotting and decaying in a bedroom. I felt guilty enough already after not checking in on Nana, but now the funeral home pretty much blamed me for her death. I know this funeral home will be convenient for Dale City residents, but look elsewhere if you want to show your deceased loved one even an ounce of respect. No one wants to visit this place. If you are, you're likely making arrangements for a loved one. . .having said that. . . They are friendly, clean, and empathetic to every situation. My family rolled in there with about 20+ people to discuss arrangements for my grandmother and they accommodated us all. The funeral home is beautiful, the facilities are clean, and they have so many options for everyone's taste. They were SUPER responsive to phone calls and emails (seriously, they answered at night, they answered during the day. . .I'm not sure when they get sleep!). My father transitioned suddenly on August 9, 2018, and the team at Mountcastle Turch was five stars, from the start to the end of my experience within customer service and the facilitation of the service. They were extremely cost efficient without appearing cheap. It was exceptionally clean at both facilities and always smelled fresh. This was my first funeral home experience, I initially met with Jeremy who was professional from start to finish. He was very patient and made me feel at ease with the process, and the financial aspects. My dad was an Army Veteran and he took care of all the communications between the representatives for the Army and he also took care of all the paperwork for the insurance portion. When I had a question, I would contact Mitzi who would either communicate back to me in a timely manner, and she made sure I was aware of everything I needed to bring for the cremation portion. They even allow you to provide your own urn, that you are not obligated to purchase from their establishments. I was able to have the floral arrangements delivered directly to their facility, and they held mail that was delivered to their address by accident. When I went to the visitation they had everything arranged, music set, and the media package was impeccable. Shirley made sure I was aware of all the items that I would be taking home with me, purchased in the package, she guided me through guest tokens, and gathered all the items I was to take home. Gary made sure I was aware of the schedule for the day and made appropriate announcements. He suggested I access the garage to unload the items for the light reception within their reception area. Gary and Hope were kind enough to assist my Aunt who utilizes a wheelchair. All the guests communicated how impressed they were with all of the care, media, services, and facility. Shirley, Hope, and Gary made sure the service ran smoothly from start to finish. I was truly blessed to have them as my facility representatives, as well as Jeremy and Mitzi, who assisted me through the administrative portion. They were all 5-star representatives and I will forever be grateful for their services! read more

The funeral services were okay, although expensive at $6500 for very basic services. However, they incorrectly filled out the death certificate, indicating the death of my mother as April 3, rather than July 3. This careless error caused me endless hours on the phone with social security, which debited my mother's bank account for the 3 payments it mistakenly thought it had been cheated out of; the bank then debited her account and started to charge overdraft fees. Also, because of this error, doctors' who provided services to my mother in the last few months of her life could not get Medicare to pay their bills, as the Medicare system showed her as being dead when the services were provided. Overall, a nightmare, which this funeral home did very little to correct. read more

Worst Funeral home I have ever had to conduct business with. During our time of sadness they took advantage of the situation. They were uncaring, would not refund funds due back to us, would not provide us the correct death certificate, and it got to the point that we had to advise them we were calling the authorities. It is shameful that anyone would have to endure this cruel behavior at such a time. When we first contacted this funeral home they were professional on the phone then they treated our family terrible once they had your money. They will also deny they have papers that were sent to them and try to make the mistakes your fault. They also do not follow the directions of the next of kin ...they follow the direction of the person they decide to like the most. In our opinions ...please do not do business here and go to a funeral home that will treat you and your family with the respect and dignity you and your loved one deserves. read more

Last week my Father-in-Law died and arraignments were handled by Mountcastle. They did an outstanding job from start to finish, working with my Mother-in-Law, my wife, and her brother. Everything done with a high level of respect and dignity. At the viewing they had the U.S. Flag and the Marine Corps Flag properly display at both ends of the casket as my Father-in-Law was a retired Marine 1st Sgt and retired Prince William Deputy Sheriff. The day of the funeral they the coordinated with Sheriff's Office and the Marine Corps at Quantico for full honors from both. The hearse had the Marine Corps Seal on both sides, very very nice and unexpected. Mountcastle was highly professional, and displayed a high level of class. Thanks and well done. read more

From our initial meeting, to visitation, the celebration of life service to interment they were very organized and proactive with anticipating our needs. They oversaw the planning of the arrangements for our dear mother and were in constant communication with us. "Present" in all the gatherings, yet blended into the group as if part of the family. Paperwork, obituary, flowers, printed trifolds, sign in book, photo video display, music arrangements, transportation were all handled without a glitch. Cliff Thompson was terrific and the company does a great job. We have now had two people taken there, my mother and father in law. In both cases they were empathetic, polite, and extremely helpful. Cliff did a very nice job explaining our options and answering all of our questions. The facility is beautiful and the consultation room very nice. They are experienced in workign with Arlington National Cemetary if you are dealing with a veteran, and handle all details. The past two weeks have been devastating for my family as we suffered the unexpected loss of my cousin Joel. With our hearts broken and heads in a fog we turned to Mountcastle Turch to handle all of the arrangements. I cannot begin to describe what their service has meant to us; to say above and beyond would not do them justice. They treated us as if we were family, with compassion and love. The Celebration of Life was held on a Saturday and knowing how many people we expected from near and far, they generously accommodated us by extending their operating hours. The attention to detail with all of the memorial keepsakes (memorial video, picture collages, canvas photo, tapestry photo collage, photo signing board, the list goes on and on) was unlike anything I had ever seen. Given my cousin's love of motorcycles, they provided us the opportunity to give him his final ride before his eternal rest, in a custom built Harley Hearse. With motorcade of at least 150 cars, they even made arrangements with the Sheriff's department to provide us an escort from Holy Family Catholic Church to Stonewall Memory Gardens (20+ miles). We are forever grateful to Gary Maxwell, Shirley Suggs, Matthew, April, Nancy and the rest of the staff. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! First let me start off by saying we did not proceed with them. We ended up choosing another funeral home and I'm so happy we did. This is the most difficult time in my families life , loosing my father unexpectedly and mountcastle made the experience just that much worst. So we walk in and the first thing out of the greeters mouth was "did somebody die" YES I'm dead serious. No hello , how can I help , none of that. We then proceeded to tell them our situation in which she grabbed a contract and wanted us to sign right off the bat. "Hello we are not 100 percent sure we are going with you". The last straw was her tasteless comment off "if money is an issue they do cremations online for cheap" this had had to be the most distasteful, unprofessional, inconsiderate funeral home we visited. My father recently passed away and I am very unhappy with the service we received. From the time we walked in it was a problem. He had prepaid for his expenses so my mother would not have any problems but come to find out Riley said he did not pay for everything. She left the room several times to get clarification when we would ask. They did not play the music we requested they broke a shadow box picture and didnt tell us my sister had to ask about them. They had family members at the back of the line up and some were pallbearers. They BURIED HIM WITHOUT A VAULT Riley said after we called that it was an option but DAD HAD PAID FOR ONE. When we got out keepsake necklaces they were not sealed took back all she was concerned with was a check for the cemetery she did take the keepsakes to have them sealed but they still came undone. My mother took her keepsake urn out of the box and that was not sealed. THE LID CAME OFF AND A BAG WITH ASHES WAS IN IT. Thank God she was not by herself. These things should have never happened! At least I can say after a meeting my mother had Clinton and Mr Turch apologized and said none of that should have happened. RILEY should not be dealing with families. During a hard time she made matters worse. She should have shown some compassion and made sure everything was correctly done. read more

Although the décor and setting were nice, this was a disaster from start to finish. To begin with, they could not comprehend my Son's correct birthdate. When we previewed the paperwork, we discovered this discrepancy. I provided the correct date which they incorrectly corrected. The day of the Services everything had the wrong corrected birthdate. They had to remove the pictorial displaces, handouts and prayer cards because of this wrong information. On top of this, the non-denominational Minister could not remember the deceased name. The Congregation had to correct him. Again we provided the correct birthdate and there was no follow through on their part. When we finally received his Death Certificate, it too had the wrong date. Because it had been filed incorrectly with the State, we had to provide proof of his correct birthdate in order to get it corrected. This took months and held up the release of his insurance policy for his daughter. A year later and they had not contacted us concerning his ashes. When we called, they could not find them. Once they were located, we drove from Alabama to Virginia to pick them up. Guess what? His Urn had THE WRONG BIRTHDATE. At this point, the Director stepped in and we received his Urn via USPS in October 2017 with the correct dates. I truly believed that we over paid for the lackadaisical service we received. Not sure I will be able to find the words to adequately describe the incredible support & service rendered to me by Gary Maxwell, the funeral director at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home at 4143 Dale Blvd in Woodbridge, VA. On a scale of 1-10.... a 10++++++. My husband passed away under hospice care at home on Sat 10/31. Gary was called by the case manager and he assured me in the most gentle way that he would contact Quantico Natl. Cemetery, church etc and coordinate all for me. (I was fortunate enough to have pre-paid years ago while doing estate planning) He & the staff went above & beyond in providing me & the family with so much assistance in having a memorable service. My husband's 7 siblings and my 5 siblings ( all from other states) remarked one after the other that they had never seen such touching memorabilia strategically placed from sign in books with photos on each page to a DVD playing in 2 areas and so much more...
