Baker's Cafe may not have been the best choice for me going in with an allergy to beef. They are known for their steaks after all... Those in our group who ordered steaks were happy. Not ordering steak? Menu is small - a chicken, pork chops, maybe ham steaks or maybe pasta (depending on the night), a fish or two. Limited sides - baked potato or hash browns, apple sauce, cottage cheese, and green salad. I asked if there was olive oil in the house dressing - an Italian dressing - was told it was Wesson Oil... However, taking them up to the 4 star level would be the desserts. Not sure where they are from - maybe home made, but they were good. strawberry pie, apple something pie, cinnamon roll cheesecake, rice pudding... generous sizes, yummy, and multiple forks. Big price tag for this place - especially considering the flatware and serving pieces were either plastic, melamine, or diner style china. I really kind of felt like I was back in school. Drinks from the bar came did come in real glasses, tea and water were in plastic. Overall - the desserts saved it. read more

Two points because our server was fantastic. Canned green beans, salad was good. My steak was not seasoned. I paid extra for mushrooms and onions, you know the onions that are supposed to be caramelized and fresh mushrooms cooked in butter? I got white, soft but barely cooked onion and canned mushrooms. The only reason I ate them was because my steak was horrendously overcooked and dry like a rice cake. I ordered it medium rare and it came well done. I got $5 off, which is funny if you think about it. I had worked out in the yard and was ravenous so I ate it. I had to saw at it with my steak knife, like wood. My husband's rib eye was medium rare, and he ordered his medium. His steak was also not seasoned and had to ask for salt. Such a shame, I read such mixed reviews. I was hesitant to go until I read a review that said their meat came from a local farm. Now, farm or not, my meal was ruined. My $30 steak. I admit I did gag it down and my husband helped. I normally get my steak rare, but I ordered it medium rare because it was a thick cut of meat. It was barely pink in the middle in the thickest parts and that awful grey that overcooked meat gets everywhere else. I don't think I will be back. Our server was lovely, and she could make bank somewhere better. A place with fresh vegetables and a cook who can season and prepare steak. The cook at Baker's cannot. The location and exterior may lead one to think this is just your basic "greasy spoon" establishment. Looks are deceiving and nothing could be further from the truth! The steaks are the best in town. I have never done a review on Yelp. I was so disappointed in the dinner that I thought you should save you money and go to a chain steakhouse, there you will at least have bread with you meal. You will get your appetizer and salads with all items needed to complete the plate or bowl. Do not order the spaghetti entree as it is more like a side portion. The three stakes ordered were very tasty, but the rest of the meal was not worth the drive or cost. Go to Outback or Longhorns and save 50% of your dinner bill. read more

This is our go to steak house of choice the staff is very friendly and helpful we have been going here for 15+ years and never once had a bad dinner or service the filet minion is as good as it gets and the strips are a main staple here and not to over looked they do have a basic menu agood wine list and something for everyone be sure not to miss desert that alone is worth the trip. read more

Bakers is such a fun place, and the food is really fantastic. Everyone raves about the steaks, but the chicken is AMAZING. I never order chicken when I go out, but it really is that good. Other things to try: The Peanut Butter Pie with a side of Hot Fudge! Heaven in your mouth! All their pies are outstanding. My husband LOVES the T-Bone. This is not an upscale atmosphere, but that is what makes it fun. It is NOT stuffy and does not pretend to be something that it isnt. The service is OUTSTANDING! The Rag Top Apple Pie! The best apple pie I've ever had! Perfect on all levels, tart and not too sweet, the apples maintained their shape and the flavor was perfect...but... the RAG TOP is mana from heaven! Served ala mode with optional Carmel sauce; be sure to leave room for dessert. Yes the rest of the menu is great, especially the steaks and chops... but you have to have pie! Baker's is a Canton institution that I've been hearing about my whole life, but had never actually visited before this past weekend. I never really considered it because all the hype just made it sound out of my league. In my mind, "Baker's = expensive." So now that my siblings and I are all employed adults and my dad said he wanted to go to Baker's for his birthday, it actually seemed like a reasonable thing to do. The building is obviously new, and based on the previous reviews, I would say it's fresher, brighter (with windows) and more modern than the pre-fire days, as would be expected. So that may be a comfort or a disappointment, depending on your preferences. The atmosphere is not by any means fancy. The vibe is something of a cross between a diner and a dive. The food got mixed reviews at our table. I tried the hash browns based on the Yelp reviews, and thought they were fine but nothing special. The steak on my salad was outstanding, but the salad underneath was pretty blah. The other steaks at the table were well received, as was the shrimp. The spaghetti got a thumbs down ("worst ever"), and the canned mushrooms on the steak were also a disappointment. The most amusing thing was the enormous, whole red pepper that was given as a steak topping. Enough for the whole table to slice up and share. They do have a children's menu, but it's expensive at $8 for a meal. We were there at an off hour, so they weren't busy and we had excellent service. Overall I would say I was satisfied with my visit, but wouldn't choose to go again. I don't think the prices they charge are unreasonable for a restaurant that specializes in steak, but if I'm going to spend that much on a dinner out, I would want the whole experience to feel like a special occasion and this place just does not deliver that. read more

This is more of a review regarding restaurant policy than of the food. We were a large party on New Year's Eve and were told that because of the size, we were only able to select from a "limited menu". One chicken choice, one steak choice and one fish choice. Baked was only potato choice. We were a party of 18 and a party of 12 sat down right after us and were given a full menu option. For the price of the food, I would expect the same options. I attended a birthday party, about 30 people; yesterday, at Baker's. I was totally blown away by the excellent service. Some attendees came in later because of work schedules and other commitments. That did not deter the wait staff from being both cordial and efficient! The attendees ordered chicken, steak, lobster and scallops. To my knowledge, ALL ( about 30 people), received their meal within minutes of each other! Amazing...My scallops were not only delicious and not over cooked, but they were piping' HOT! HOW did you do that? I am an "EAT OUT" kinda' gal. I know where the really good restaurants are.... This has to be the weirdest place I've visited in a while. The location appears to be alone in the middle of an abandoned industrial park. The building itself resembles a trailer. The decor is straight out of the 1970's, with an oldschool cafe/diner feel. T The service was good and the food was far above expectations. I'm fairly certain this is my first 1 star review on Yelp, which pains me to give to a supposed "staple" in my hometown. Perhaps our experience is an outlier, but my gut tells me that's not the case. My husband and I brought my parents to Bakers Cafe 33 to celebrate their anniversary. We started with Bakers chips and queso (canned cheese at best - disgusting) and onion rings which actually were very crispy and tasty. Salad and fresh bread were fine, nothing exceptional. Out of the four people in our party, three got steaks and one got pork chops. The pork chops were the best entree but had zero seasoning, as did the steaks. None of the steaks were cooked to our request. Two were well done when they were ordered medium and medium rare. The third steak was a ribeye ordered well-done but it came out burned to a crisp. For being a steakhouse, their cook has no idea how to season and properly prepare a steak to someone's preferred taste. The charred ribeye was so inedible we were shocked it was even served to us. We understand kitchen's make a mistake but it's then the server's job to rectify the mistake. In this case, the server not only served the steak but had MAJOR attitude when we asked for a new one. This particular server didn't even serve the replacement steak nor did he apologize on behalf of the kitchen. The second server who gave us the replacement ribeye condescendingly said "mmm, doesn't that look delicious!" which made us feel scolded for even asking for a replacement steak. Not to mention, the replacement was bleeding red and barely medium, let alone the requested well-done. Again, this *could* be overlooked but the original server then returned to our table and made an incredibly rude comment to my father saying, "well, we can't all get what we want in life. It happens." Unreal. At this point we've eaten awful food with a high price tag, and we've been insulted twice. We couldn't wait to get out of there. I love neighborhood joints and we prefer to support local business - especially during this crazy COVID time - but the awful experience we had in taste, quality, and experience will ensure we never return nor could we recommend it to friends. read more

Best ribeye in Ohio and I've tried all the other places ppl claim this to be true about. The sides are just average though but maybe that is just in comparison with that amazing slab of perfectly seasoned, cooked just right steak. I order mine medium and every time it is perfect. The prices are outrageous for the food you get. We went on a Saturday night, and service was not good. The waitress took forever to get our drinks; about 15 minutes after ordering them. The steaks were not cooked to order; it seemed like all the steaks were cooked medium rare-rare. The bread is from a bag. The salads are bland; iceburg lettuce with 1 tiny cucumber slice, 1 cherry tomato, and 1 small shaving of red onion. They don't have Italian dressing, which I was never told after I ordered it, so I just got straight vinegar. They ran out of salmon and the orange roughey by 6:30pm. They don't serve salads during dinner time, so you're only limited to the entrees. Needless to say, I will never be returning here. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Bakers makes the best steak I've ever had, period. The worst meal and service we've ever had anywhere. Chicken came out raw in the center when cut. Steak salad- ordered medium well, came out rare. From the time I sent the chicken back for being raw we were treated poorly like it was somehow our fault. After asking for the steak to be corrected to the medium well that was ordered--it came back microwaved. So disappointing....we would've had better service from McDonalds, not joking... But, our friend's group picked the location -- so we decided to give it another try. On a Saturday night -- around 6:30 p.m. (prime time) -- they were OUT of just about everything including cauliflower, Baker's Chips, and breaded mushrooms -- and that was just the appetizer portion of our evening. For dinner, everyone in our group (but me) ordered steak. I was the last person at the table to place my request ... the steak salad .. and was told that the chef would not prepare it well-done, as I had asked. But no worries, the waitress, who was a bit testy all evening, returned to inform me that I could not order the steak salad -- as they were OUT of the steak that usually goes on the salad. I changed to a salmon salad, but was then told that she had to check to see if there was any salad left. What? Are you kidding me? But, yay -- about 45 minutes later -- I did get a salmon salad that was just fine. Melissa, the gal who brought bread and a smile was also just fine. In fact, she was the bright spot of the evening. I have been coming here for 25 years! Up until 3 years ago I would've given them a 5 Star rating. Over the last three years though, I have noticed a deterioration in the service and in the preparation of the food! I thought at first that it was a fluke, after all everyone has a bad day. I kept coming back less frequently because I was more and more dissatisfied! Last night's experience though was the straw that broke the camel's back! When I called ahead of time, it was curious that there was no wait to be seated on a Friday night. Normally in years past, on Fridays you always waited to be seated! Could it be that other regular customers felt the way that I did? The quality of the steak was still good, but to order medium rare and get a steak that was well done is just not acceptable! This would've never happened prior to 2012! There was also a very long delay between the salad and the main course! They were not even that busy! This has been happening more and more in recent years, so my wife and I have decided never to go back! It is sad to see such a great little restaurant deteriorate to this extent! Im charmed by the nondescript place you drive by and never notice, maybe a little hard to find; then you go inside and find yourself in a pretty special place. Great steakhouse since 1933. I haven't left the restaurant yet and I feel the need to write this review. My husband raved about Baker's after he was brought here for his bachelor party (before it burned down). Upon learning that it was back up and running, we decided to invite a friend and make the 30 minute drive for this amazing steak. We all ordered steaks and they were all ordered medium rare. This comes with a side salad and one side. My husband asked how much it would be to add an extra side of green bean. $3! For green beans. The salads that came out before dinner were bowls of iceberg lettuce with dressing completely void of flavor. When our steaks came out they were all medium-well to well-done. When we told the waitress she alerted management who refused to do anything other than take $10 off the bill "because we were still eating it". But we were not still eating them. And these were not some basic steaks. These were $35 steaks. The baked potato that we ordered as a side came out smothered in neon orange liquid cheese, the kind you get from a gas station nacho cheese dispenser. To top it off, our friend ordered a drink that was never brought to him, but still ended up on his bill. So, if you're looking to blow your hard earned cash on sadness and mediocrity eat here. And if you're looking to eat a steak cooked the way you ordered it, you would be better off going to Texas Roadhouse. read more

Best steaks in town. Simple menu is posted on the wall with some additional daily specials and an always-awesome list of pies. Go for the Ribeye Delmonico for fully-flavored steak. If you go for lunch on Friday order the fish and mac n cheese lunch. Delicious. But get there early because it doesn't always last the whole lunch hour. Service is always great by a long-time crew.
