My husband and I visited this restaurant on Christmas Eve for the first time. We enjoyed the food and the service from our server Krysten was excellent. My husband had the strip steak and he said it was amazing and cooked perfectly. He also said the red sauce on the penne pasta was simple yet delicious. I ordered the salmon, and it was wild caught and very tasty. I had their fettuccine alfredo for my side and it was perfect. The pasta was done right and the sauce was not too heavy and delicious. My only complaint was the bread was not crispy and too oily but my husband enjoyed it. We will be back! read more

This is my first time coming here. A belated birthday celebration dinner with my brothers and nephew. The menu looked really great as far as selection. But for some reason we were all drawn to the giant portion of Lasagna. Salad was not special but fine for a nice fresh starter of lettuce and a decent selection of dressings. I went with balsamic vinegret. I also enjoyed their garlic bread. Nice soft and tasty, toasted on one side. But that lasagna was a Super Star. Nice large portion, covered in delicious sauce and cheeses. The pasta noodles were perfect and it was filled with the layers including lots of thick meat sauce and cheeses. I also had a homemade meatball and a sausage on the side. Both of which were really good. On this trip I stuck with Diet Pepsi and water, but in the future I'll be trying something from the bar. Food was hot and good! Waitress was attentive and prompt! Positives! The atmosphere was dark and there was a musty smell. I believe they need to replace old carpeting! We were a party of 6 and were the only patrons in the restaurant! First time here, but years ago to was the popular Four Winds Restaurant! I believe it is a much more upscaled and overall restaurant in the "Tozzi'S On 12th" Restaurant with a full bar and service and menu. Menu prices seem reasonable from $12 - $25 or so prices! From Italian to great steaks is a sample! Checkout the couple pictures I took! We arrived just before 5:00 pm and the restaurant was just beginning to fill up! Myself and, part of my family was in for Christmas, went to the Players Guild musical! We seven and three more met at the restaurant! We gave them a stir requesting a table for ten without reservations! They already had table reserved for ten, but scrambled fast to ready a table for us ten! Server was friendly, patient, helpful, attentive, and fast! Everyone was happy with their meals, but too many varieties to name here! I will generalize as to orders: at least 3 different Pastas, two different wines, good, one mix drink several colas, at least one steak, one meatless meal, for main menu! Restaurant is very pleasant decor, quality chairs and tables, high class! A bit larger dining room than most! Table are spaced for some privately talking! Noise was minimal due to arrangement and likely sound dampening! Desserts were outstanding and good variety with interesting presentations! Such as triple desert and desserts of desserts! Ask when ordering! Yummy!! Roof over the entrance and drive up! Big private parking with good handicap areas! Bar in it's own area! Meals preparation was reasonable and food served at right temperature! Salads were fresh, good, basic. Restrooms were clean and well stocked! Mens was about six standing and one sitting with was also a handicap stall! The restrooms doors were one into a small closet that require opening a second door into the restrooms! Not good for handicap or wheelchair folks! A restaurant with that many possible dining sit downs needed badly! Fast food usually have better restrooms! Overall great restaurant with most amenities being great for the price! I have tried far more expensive restaurants with less to offer than this excellent restaurant! Went to Tozzi for New Years. I got the lasagna. When our meals arrived.... finally... our son's steak was hot but all the pasta was warm at best. My lasagna was actually cold... not just room temp, but cold. The server took it back, but a few minutes later returned with a piece that was smaller, had zero meat in it and was smothered in sauce. Not really what I had in mind. For $102 plus tip for the 4 of us, I expected better. Had only a couple bites, as everyone else was already done. Highly unlikely we will be back. read more

We arrived there as a party of ten just before 5:00 on a Saturday just before Christmas. After a slightly surprised look from the hostess, when we answered "No" to "Do you have a reservation?" She smiled and said Just a minute, please. In just a few minutes they rearranged tables and we were escorted to our table. I would describe the decor as classically elegant, but a bit old fashioned, which is perfectly fine with me! The carpeting and draperies acted as good sound dampeners which made for a quieter dinner than in most establishments. Without going into detail of all ten orders, everyone including two children were happy with their meals except for one with a pasta and shrimp dish. She took it home to add her own sauce on it! (Due to the lack of any visible or flavored sauce) Desserts ordering was fun ( the kids had never experienced a ViewMaster) Pictures of the desserts were in it but unfortunately, no names were with the pictures so we were not sure what we were looking at. The lack of prices on the dessert menu caused me to to order a rather expensive "Trio Sampler" ($10.00) to share with my hubby. I thought a sampler would be a small portion of three items, but it came out on an iron stacker of three plates! Much, much more than I wanted or expected! Although very tasty! All in all, we were well pleased with our server and the food, at reasonable prices. We would not hesitate to try it again. read more

First time visit for my wife and I. We didn't care for the ceasar salad, or the garlic bread, but the calamari appetizer was perfect. She got a strip steak, and it was a strip. I think she expected a rib eye. I got the spaghetti and meatballs and have no complaints. The meatballs were fantastic. We also ordered the Magnolia mud pie, and wow. What a fantastic dessert. Service was great, we were seated by the owner, who politely accommodated our 2 small children. Our server was very attentive, friendly, but not obtrusive. I loved the ambiance and aura of the place. My wife was ok with it. My 1 and 2 yr old seemed comfortable and happy. I cant wait to try the lasagna. read more

Went to Tozzi's alone. Waited 6 minutes for someone to notice I was there and seat me. Was promised a menu but she never came back until I called her. Took a half hour to receive my appetizer. Took a full hour to receive my meal. I've been to Tozzi's before and was served HOT food. This time it was barely lukewarm. I should have figured because the waitress was serving people who came in AFTER me, before me, which tells me that my food was just sitting back there getting cold. I was never asked if I wanted more bread, or if I needed anything. I had to ask for the bill and a box. When are restaurants going to figure out that it's about CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE? Next time I, and any of my adult 9 children, want to dine somewhere, it will be somewhere ELSE. Waitress was lucky she got a 15% tip when I should have left only 5%. Very disappointed. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Absolutely terrible. Our party all ordered different things, but definitely didn't taste any of them. This food has got to be the most bland food I have ever regretted putting in my mouth. I feel bad for the servers, as they do a good job. But, spending 56 dollars on two entrees and not tasting them is a real disappointment. It pains me to talk this bad about a small business, but they deserve it. First and foremost tozzis doesn't know what gabagool is. To start we had a reservation for 7pm didn't get seated till 715pm. the food was awful from start to finish. it was disgusting I can't believe they consider themselves an Italian restaurant. I will never go here again. I should have walked out on my bill. read more

Great restaurant! The staff is always friendly and fast. The decor may be a bit dated but the quality is still there. I absolutely love their fillets. Served a bit on the rare side, they are brought out on a hot plate so you are able to cook them exactly to your liking. They are extremely juicy and tender and never does a piece go to waste. The pasta is good as well, especially their meat sauce. The bread is usually my favorite part but it can sometimes be hit or miss. It has a tendency to be under seasoned as of late, but even on the bad days it still tastes great. My biggest complaint. Since I've been going to this restaurant, we would order the Magnolia Mud Pie. Which they made and it was great. Served with hot fudge on the side, thick and hard oreo crust, really good ice cream, and huge pieces! Now, it is changed. No more hot fudge, ok sized pieces, and it seems purchased, not made. The crust is brittle, thin, and seemed to crumble when cut in to. Not to say this isn't a good mud pie, but it's not what it was. read more

Saw the article for this restaurant in the 'About' magazine and decided to try it. The lasagna was fantastic. Everything else -not so much. I used to be a server. I wasn't even a good one but I knew when to apologize. If I had forgotten a table's appetizer or a side for someone's dinner or disappeared for 20 minutes at a time, I would apologize. I wouldn't (after being asked to please take the appetizer off the check since it never came) say "Oh.", turn my back on the customer and walk away. I was told by a manager? Hostess? (She never introduced herself) that they were having computer problems and that my server was also bartending! I wish our server would have told us this. I think it would have made our dinner a little less frustrating. They did take the appetizer as well as our drinks off the bill. We appreciated that and is the only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2. The rest of the food was forgettable. The small filet was bland. Fries - meh. As I said before, the lasagna was delicious! The serving could feed 3 people. We haven't decided whether or not it's worth a trip back. read more

Yikes... I'm NOT exactly sure how this place has a 4+ rating?!?!? We probably waited 5 minutes for a soul in the entire restaurant to even notice we needed to be seated. Exhibit A was the first food item that we saw. Looks appealing doesn't it? They called it their Famous Basket of Garlic Bread or something extravagant. Mind you each piece is apparently "a basket" because my wife and I both got one with our meal. The next thing we got was 3/4th's of a cup of iceberg lettuce with a microscopic cherry tomato. One each. They probably didn't want to break the bank. Now comes our meal. My wife's meal wasn't too bad to be honest. With one caveat the alfredo sauce was the consistency of water. My meal was friggin $17 bucks and I got 6 raviolis . Along with about about a mountain of sliced hot peppers with an oil sauce. Then came desert. You have to look through some nasty, janky kids view finder toy from the 70s. Good luck trying to figure out what you're looking at. If you want to spend a minimum of $50 for an outdated experience THIS is the place for you!! read more

Had a really great experience here. The food; Steak, Spaghetti, Salad were all nicely prepared. Steak was a perfect Medium Rare, seasoned well and came out on a sizzling plate. Spaghetti tasted fresh and a light red sauce. House salad dressing was tangy and fresh. Had Chianti and was surprised at how good it was. The Service was impeccable. Soooo friendly and helpful. The salad that comes with a pricey steak dinner is noting more than than bagged iceberg with one wedge of tomato on top, that's it. Can't believe no one has reviewed this place yet. I had to visit my old stomping grounds at the Four Winds location off of Whipple and 12th. They took the crappy decorating out and made this place into something straight out of Italy! Murals, great wine-colored theme, and Italian music. Tried the Lasagna after reading the review in the Repository. I like to leave a restaurant full. I had to take a box and finish the lasagna for lunch the next day. (I was happy about that) I get the feeling that the owners would invite you into their Italian family if you were to hang around long enough. The wife (Kris?) came out and talked to us and I could tell she wasn't just faking her smile. We are definitely planning our next special occasion there, I know if we have a problem it will be taken care of! read more

How can I say this...Tozzis is more for my parents generation than mine. How was that? The decor and ambiance is a bit dated and musty feeling yet still clean. You can tell this place gets its regulars and its well regarded in its small circle. They specialize in Italian and steaks I would say, but I found that I didn't really care for either. My steak was cooked ok, but certainly under seasoned. I tried my wife pasta and again it really didn't taste much more than boxed noodles and tomatoes. I would give tozzis 2 stars for food but it makes up for it with the kind wait staff and the VERY good prices, especially the specials. You can really get a good value here. So if value is what you seek, and you don't mind sightly boring, unseasoned food this is your joint. read more

We went to a wedding recently and were absolutely embarrassed for the couple. The food was mediocre, (chicken tasted like a McDonald's chicken nugget) and the staff never once smiled. Once almost everyone left, the bride commented that she needed a box for her cake so I went up to the mini bar to ask the 2 staff members for some help. I was told, as a guest of the wedding mind you, to look under the table to see if the person who brought the cake left any and box it up myself. I was more than outraged at this. I was a banquet server for several years and would have been fired on the spot for a comment like this. Anyway, I did so and after finding nothing, I flagged down a gentleman who seemed more than happy to help. He immediately apologized and said he would return with boxes. When we returned to the cake table, someone (I assume a staff member) had taken the entire leftover cake, stand included, and shoved it into a cardboard box and thrown a trash bag (unopened) on top!!! Unbelievable.... and to top it off, the entire place smelled like a sewer. I would never recommend this place to anyone and needless to say, would NEVER go back. read more
