I've always been a fan of Baker's Crust bagels, especially a cinnamon raisin bagel loaded with their strawberry cream cheese. It's the perfect combination of sweet, tangy, and open gooey deliciousness! Today, Baker's Crust catered breakfast at my office, and I was excited to see a table overflowing with bagels and cream cheeses. It was like Christmas morning for carb lovers! Unfortunately, none of the bagels or cream cheeses were labeled. My excitement quickly turned into confusion when I took a big bite of what I was sure was my beloved strawberry cream cheese... only to discover it was definitely not strawberry. And let's just say an onion bagel paired with the wrong cream cheese is a combination I wouldn't recommend. The food itself was great, but a little labeling would go a long way. A simple sticker or note on the bottom of each cream cheese container and small tent cards identifying the bagel flavors would save future customers from accidental flavor roulette. Still a fan, but next time I'd like to know whether I'm biting into strawberry bliss or an unexpected onion surprise! For a side note it's so easy to order online for a quick stop on the way to work. The experience is not the start to a day that I would like. Not sure about you the reader but when I go out to eat in the morning before I have had coffee (We will get to that later.) I don't want to have to think nor be confused. I want SERVICE and facing screens on a wall (two of which didn't work properly btw) is not providing service to customers especially with a group of young men on the other side of the glass wall any one of whom could have taken our orders. Sticker shock slammed me when I saw the price of a 12 ounce black coffee... it was almost the same cost as my bagel with cream cheese. Speaking of my premium highly priced black coffee ... it tastes as if there was sweetener of some sort added in ... oh well. When picking up my order to eat in ... I repeated that I was eating in ... the young man said "let me put it in a bag for you. ' I am eating in ... don't need a bag for my bagel ... take a dime off my coffee price and save the bag. The raison d'etre for this visit ... a bagel with veggie cream cheese... well it was a very good bagel with crunch and a decent schmear of veggie cream cheese. The bagel shop itself has a huge empty except for me dining area with lots of room to work if you choose to do so but I'd pick a place with reasonably priced coffee that includes refills if I was working. Sugar in my coffee uh no ... having to order off a tablet on the wall ... no ... a good reasonably priced bagel yes... maybe call in an order for bagels and get your coffee elsewhere or better yet find a nice diner with a waitress who comes to your table. And, this starts my VA BEACH Friday ... blah ... I really don't like sweetness in my coffee and hate over paying for coffee too. Oh I am taking that bag with ... a small white paper bag just might come in handy and after all he insisted that my eat in bagel needed to be that very special bag. read more

I stopped by Baker's Crust Bagel one morning because I wanted something quick, light, and easy for breakfast. I'd seen their bagels on Instagram and they looked really good, so I decided to give them a try. I ordered the Fordy on a multigrain bagel, which comes with turkey, cheese, and bacon. Unfortunately, I accidentally selected "no bacon" when ordering, so that was disappointing. I also requested it toasted, but when I received it, the sandwich itself was still cold. It seems like they only toast the bagel before assembling the sandwich, rather than warming the entire sandwich. Even aside from that, it was just a very basic bagel sandwich. It tasted like turkey, cheese, mayonnaise, and a bagel--nothing particularly memorable or different. The ingredients were fine, but there wasn't anything that made it stand out. My biggest issue was the price. For what I received, it felt very expensive. It wasn't bad, but it definitely didn't live up to the expectations I had from seeing it online. If you're looking for a simple bagel sandwich, it gets the job done, but I expected more flavor and value for the cost. read more

It was just OK... Ex bagel baker here. You can still find fresh, kettle boiled bagels in Va Beach. I think these bagels come down from NY. If you enjoy a great bagel, I recommend you keep looking. Wife and I had lunch, lox bagel for me, BLTA for her. Food came out fairly quickly, but the coffee machine was being serviced (I have seen this same comment on other reviews) and I did not get my coffee until we were halfway through lunch. Food was just OK, nothing to write home about. And it was not cheap. These days when every dollar counts, you can do better. read more

A Monday morning I called in to order a lox and cream cheese bagel to my surprise. They ran out of locks so I ended up doing a rainbow bagel which is like my go to bagel cause it's just nostalgia for me. I ended up getting the Carnegie pastrami it's been on my radar for a hot minute so I was craving that. I really enjoyed it but keep in mind. The sauerkraut is wet and will make your sandwich or in this case bagel sandwich soggy I enjoyed my sandwich so I would've probably got it toasted knowing that next time so my bagel wouldn't be as soggy, however it was a Breeze ordering online or sorry in this case over the phone and doing a pick up order. I love that they offer gluten free bagels. It's why we decided to stop by. I had a gluten everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. Yes PLEASE! It wasn't perfect. Gluten free items rarely are. But it was delicious! it was fluffy, not as dense as most gf bagels tend to be and perfectly toasted. The cream cheese was amazing. it truly hit the spot. I like that you order on a screen and take a seat. You get a text as well as them calling your name when the food is ready. I can't speak to the regular bagels, and my husband already had breakfast so he didn't order one this time. But if you are looking for a GF bagel, definitely check them out! read more

I've been on the hunt for a good bagel with an excellent cream cheese ratio to satisfy my current pregnancy fixation and I had high hopes for Baker's Crust Bagel but they fell short. Don't get me wrong, the bagel was great! Outside was crisp but not so hard it felt like I was breaking my teeth, inside was soft and dense. We got a plain bagel with Oreo cream cheese and it felt like I got stiffed on the Oreo and cream cheese portion! It felt like it was a whisper of Oreo and the cream cheese spread was so thin - definitely not a great cream cheese to bagel ratio. We also ordered the Salmon Lox lunch sandwich on everything and the chicken salad sandwich on everything bagel. I also felt mislead with what they showed in their menu pictures vs what we actually got. The service was fast - you order on a kiosk and they call your name when your order is ready. We also tried their cookie butter latte and nitro cold brew which were both delicious! The overall space was cute and trendy. I loved the ambiance and all the cute decor. Pretty darn good. These carbs are truly delicious. I've been to this shopping center many times, but I never noticed Bakers Crust. It is the perfect spot. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Your order from kiosks. You can dine in or out. I went for a classics, bacon, egg and cheese in and everything bagel. The bacon was crispy, the cheese was gooey, the egg was abundant and the bagel had a great savory flavor. It was the perfect choice for my morning treat. The staff were n top of it. Not only Were they polite and helpful. But they were working hard keeping tables cleared and clean. Parking is easy to navigate. It's a large parking lot across the entrance. read more

It was my first time here since it been opened I had a reward so I came and it was clean and spacious and they had Kiosks I didn't use it I paid at the cashier counter I ordered signature favorite which was lox cream cheese and tomato and red onions. Wow! Love! This is going to be a new fav. The inside is very cute and modern and open. Loved the bagel-themed art, updated and clean bathrooms, coffee bar area and the self-order kiosks. Coffee is from Three Ships - we arrived around 1pm and they were out of the Nitro cold brew and several other kinds of coffee... hmmm. We went with two bagel sandwiches and and a smoothie and all were very good. -Strawberry, Banana, & Oat Smoothie - very good flavor, fresh and filling -Carnegie Pastrami - pumpernickel bagel - toasted and we "Reubened it" and subbed Cole slaw and Russian dressing and it was delicious! -Egg-sactly Right with a wheat everything toasted bagel The bagel sandwiches were HUGE. Giant portions so the prices are fair at about $9-15 depending on the toppings. We each only ate half and saved the rest for later. There is a deli area with some baked goods, chips, pasta salad, pickles, etc. to grab and take. The bagels themselves are exceedingly fair price (like $3 or so) and the schmears were also fair price. We loved the bagels we tried: wheat everything and pumpernickle. Noms. They have free wifi and had about 5 cute patio tables to sit outside if you'd like. I liked everything about this place and plan to bring friends here for lunch whenever I can or come telework here and have a coffee and lunch just to get out of the house. Stopped by Baker's Crust Bagel a few weeks ago to grab some breakfast. My favorite bagel is anything with lox or smoked salmon so as we stood at the kiosk to order, I decided on the Signature Favorite bagel which included lox, plain cream cheese, tomato and onion. As we waited, I couldn't help but notice how bright and beautifully decorated the place was. The dining area had ample seating but it did get pretty crowded on a Saturday morning. They also had an array of items for purchase such as pickles, cream cheeses, cheesecakes and an assortment of salad items along with soups from Soup Love. It took about 15 mins for our bagels to be ready and even though I enjoyed it, they added just a tad too much cream cheese for my liking. I feel like I scraped off enough to add to a whole other bagel lol. Other than that, the service was great and I'd definitely return. read more

After going months without a bagel fix, my boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try. The interior is more modern, but it's very clean and has good music playing. But let's be honest--I wasn't here for the ambiance, I was here for a bagel... and a GOOD bagel is what we got!! We both ordered the pastrami paradise, one on an everything bagel and one on a pumpernickel. First of all, they do NOT skimp on the pastrami--truly a paradise on that sandwich!! There was also so much swiss that I thought the cheese was the wrapper haha. The pastrami was amazing, the mustard and swiss were melted and warm, and the egg was fluffy. The pumpernickel bagel was so good too--crunchy and a beautiful crust. This is now our new bagel spot. Also! Three ships has a coffee shop there, sweet/quick service and delicious coffee. I've lived here for almost 11 years and I have not been able to find a bagel close enough that tastes like home. I've been hearing great things about Baker's Crust Bagel for a bit since they opened, and have heard how it tastes like an authentic New York bagel so I had to give them a try. When you walk in, there's cute bagel art and photos of the NY Skyline (which i love to see). The spot itself is super spacious. They have plenty of tables if you are sticking around to enjoy your breakfast, or a pick-up area if you chose to order ahead. You're greeted by big tablets where you order your food and drink from. They have everything from breakfast sandwiches, to acai bowls and a coffee bar. I ordered an everything bagel lightly toasted with plain cream cheese and an iced latte with vanilla syrup and almond milk. It took about 5 minutes for them to make, with a large crowd in front of me, so no complaints! With New York bagels being 10/10, I'd rate this spot a 8/10. Definitely the closest I've had to a NY bagel and I now know where I'll be coming when I'm in the mood for one! The coffee was also super tasty. We've now visited three times and have had great experiences every time. One visit we dined in and the other two were takeout. Their pastrami is next level. Incredible. I don't think I'll ever be able to come here again without getting it. It's sliced fresh to order, served thick, warm and nicely fatty. Just get it. Also loved the lox bagel. I got mine open-faced and added capers. If you're gluten free, this is the place to go. A few GF bagel options and a separate toaster! We also loved the NYC Hot Chocolate and the maple bacon cream cheese. The few things that didn't quite hit the amazing mark for us was really just the açaí bowl. Great location, the vibe is amazing!!! There is plenty of room for parking out front and it's in the shopping center on the other side of Bakers Crust. When you come in, it feels like you are kind of "forced" to order through the provided kiosks but they offer in person ordering in the coffee bar in the back (Yeah!!! They have an independent coffee bar!). I ordered a Whole Wheat Everything Bagel with Avocado and Roasted Garlic spread and my wife got a sandwich. It was $6 for the bagel and schmear and $14 for the sandwich. Feels a little steep, but the area is that kind. Overall, wasn't SUPER impressed with the Avocado and Roasted Garlic spread, had the hue of avocado, but the garlic was very understated. I visited Baker's Crust Bagel when I heard they have Ess A Bagels from Ny! I was so excited and was not disappointed. Im not a huge fan of having to order at an iPad over a person at the register which I will lean towards doing the next time I go. I got a pumpernickel everything bagel with egg salad and their pasta salad on the side. I loved my whole meal. I liked the pasta salad but I think it should more clearly say that there is ham in it cause that was a bit of a surprise. I ate at the restaurant and found it to be pretty relaxing and chill. The people who made my food were friendly and were great at accommodating for the 2 gluten free bagels I brought home to my sister. I'll be coming back! read more

I went a few days after the grand opening. I ordered via the screens so did not interact with the staff except for who I believe to be the manager and he was fantastic. I ordered the hangry eggs bagel sandwich but was disappointed it wasn't spicier (it's with jalapeño cream cheese). It wasn't spicy at all. The bagel itself was okay, a little dry. I can't speak for the main food, because I ended up stopping by to grab a couple bagels before a half marathon at the beach. I just tried the plain bagel and it is sooooooo good. I had to immediately come here and write a review. I love Ess-a-Bagel in NYC and this brings me right there. Perfect consistency and taste! I'm so excited for my blueberry one tomorrow AM!! Is it the best bagels in VB? Maybe if they get your order right. Is it slow and disorganized while 2 employees make bagels and 5 employees watch them? Definitely. Take your employees to the real Essa Bagel in NYC and let them see how a real bagel shop works. You are partnering with them on bagels great. Now get 1/10th of their speed and efficiency and you'll be good. I left after 20 min of waiting. With less than 10 orders completed in that 20 min. I've literally been down the block in line at Essa Bagel and been served and out the door before these clowns can make a bagel and cream cheese. I am currently here. Real time review. It's 11:46 am. An employee takes your order and gets your name. You pay and sit and wait. I got the NYC BLTA on an everything toasted bagel. I had a special request which they accommodated. I wanted my bagel inside out. No one but the employee that took my order was wearing masks.....not that I care, just an observation. There is plenty of parking and it is near Cobalt Grill. I got my food at 11:51. The bagel was barely toasted.....it was more warmed up. If you like it toasted like I do make sure to ask for it. There is a grab and go area with pickles and meats and salads. Sadly they don't sell pickles individually....I would have tried one. It's very casual....your food comes in a bag so if you sit and eat your bag is your plate. Self serve drinks. It's very clean and bright. They also have a kiosk to order. Looks like there is a coffee bar in the back with some "bar" seating. My bagel was good. Some things are pricy but everything is today....but maybe a bit more pricy than other bagel shops in the area. I would go back. I would like to try a morning trip. FYI....definitely all very self serve. You get your food when they call your name, get your drink and throw out your own trash. Please throw out your trash. read more

I'm so happy to have found a place that has gluten free bagel sandwiches! My husband said it was the best GF bagel he's had. The only reason I can't give five stars is the price... we got two bagel breakfast sandwiches ($3.50 extra charge for gluten free) and two small cold brews and it was $50 after tip which to me is very steep... but we enjoyed the food and I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Leaving a review because it seems like a lot of the other reviewers have never heard of a real bagel shop. You go in, you order a bagel to your likings and you get it in a bag, as you should. Simple, fast and good. We didn't have any good bagel shops in VB until now- I mean it. The food is delicious and the bagel itself was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Going to be a regular spot for me and my fiancé. Everyone who says anything differently is too picky and wants to be catered to at all times. That's not what bagels shops are for haha. Also! My best friend is celiac and is so happy with these gluten free bagels! You don't find them often. read more

When they 1st opened up I contemplated ordering a bagel for myself. I'm glad that I hadn't. I waited for kiddo to finish up with classes, be home for Thanksgiving then we would split an Everything bagel. As we ordered, I was taking with one of the employees. It turns out the bagels themselves are made and partially baked in New York, then finished off here. Their cream cheese is made on site. And boy, do they love to add lots of cream cheese to the bagel! Don't get me wrong, I love cream cheese, I was just teasing the staff about the cheese overload. Sort of, kind of, in a small way. I will definitely go back, I will just have to have them not be so heavy handed with the cream cheese. Oh!
