BC Combo Kickin' Corn and Crab Chowder and Wine Country Salad
    Kaitlin A.

Came here tonight for dinner. I had looked at the menu before I got there, and was unsure of what salad to order since most of them sounded great. I ended up on the combo of their soup and salad since their soup also sounded good. I was hesitant on the strawberries in the wine country salad since I know they're not in season really, but they were lovely. Everything in the salad worked well together and the dressing was nice and vinegary while still tasting of raspberries. It was very well balanced except for the ratio of toppings to greens. I feel as though there was just a little too much toppings. It could've used more leafs. As for the soup, it was a little bland, but after adding salt and pepper it tasted nice. It was mostly soup rather than crab or corn though. That was my only critique really, the temperature was good as well. It could've used some crackers on the side, but it wasn't necessary, just would've been a nice touch. Our waitress was quite nice, checked up on us and got us refills. All of our food came out together and hot. The sandwiches on other people's plates all looked wonderful, and after having a shoestring fry, I can definitely say next time I will be ordering some of those. As far as ambiance goes, it was nicely lit but still moody, which was appreciated. Very chill in there. Only reason I rate it 3 stars is because I feel as though there's room for improvement food wise, and price wise. $20+ for almost everything on the menu is pretty ridiculous. Even for some of the simple items. I don't think the food is that good, proportionately appropriate, or creative to be that much money. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I feel. I'll probably be back to try more items, I'd recommend coming here at least once to try if you haven't, during happy hour to get the best prices if you can.

I found it very challenging to find a brunch place that takes reservations and bakers crust does!! For a group of 13, I was very impressed by how easy it was to show up and be seated and how well the service was. Really enjoyed the experience and the food came out quick, drinks were refilled, and individual checks were offered too (which is always quite complicated but the waitress executed everything seamlessly!) Also I am always shocked by how good the food is. The breakfast burrito was delicious, and all the menu items are generally pretty reasonably priced!

Balsamic chicken.. ordered carry out and brought it home. Chicken is absolutely disgusting and inedible. Both like hockey pucks.

Absolutely disgusting. Way over cooked and can barely chew it. Definitely has went down hill since the last time I ordered carry out!

Came here on 01/22/2023 to celebrate my niece's 18th birthday. Our party was 17 deep and arrived at 12pm, luckily the wait was not to long as there was a big party there finishing up, so they already had a place to seat us. We all got a variety of things and I forgot to take pics of all the food everyone got, as I was really hungry and could not wait. Some of the food we ordered: Calamari, Tavern Chips, Kickin Corn&Crab chowder, Jalapeno & cheddar club, Chicken & Cheddar Panini, French Toast, Swanky Benedict, Smash Burger, Charleston Chicken & Avocado sandwich, Kids Cheeseburger. Me and my hubby also got the Everything Mary, we really enjoyed this but I was not a fan of the Everything season on the rim, this did not add anything to Bloody Mary to me except for a lot of sesame seeds in my teeth lol. Use to come to Bakers Crust all the time back in the day, mostly the Norfolk location. I always loved their Corn & Crab chowder and that was still good as ever. I had the Jalapeno & Cheddar club, with the house parmesan chips. I do love their parmesan chips, the sandwich was good, but I was only able to eat one 1/4 of my sandwich. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. My sisters wish they had gotten Julienne style fries in stead of the ones that came with their dishes but they were not offered that option when ordering, otherwise they would have. Our server was attentive and said that we were one of the easiest groups she had to handle. I really wanted a Diaboltin crepe to finish things off but decided to be good. My niece got to choose a cookie for her birthday and got the Chocolate chip. I asked my hubby to take me here for dessert for Valentine's day so I can get my fave crepe.

Fast service. Great drinks. Food is perfect and you can choose your side. Seems like they are always busy but that doesn't stop them from giving you good service and good food

Tomato and cheddar soup paired with the chicken and cheddar panini
    Amanda E.

The food here was delicious. I had the tomato and cheddar soup combo with the chicken and cheddar panini. The soup was so flavorful. The sandwich was ok, but it could've used a bit more sauce. Other than that, it was good. Our waiter, Noah, was polite and attentive. The atmosphere was nice, and the only reason I took off a star is because of the bugs. While here I saw two tiny roach-like bugs. It was pretty unnerving to see them in the restaurant. I don't know if it's because they were heading inside because it's colder, but it's still not something you want to see in a place serving food.

Food is always consistently good, service is alway very friendly, and the ambiance is casual and relaxed. We sit at either the bar, hightop, or a booth. All are great. I would recommend just about everything. We haven't tried the pizza yet but my friends rave about it! Will have to try that next! Enjoy!!! Sho

Larger SUVs and trucks may have a tough time. Our waitress was nice and went back to the kitchen to get an answer for my food question (they're white onions not red in the veggie omelet). I was also a fan of her raspy voice. Whoever did their website did a great job...at deceiving the public. The pictures look much better than how the food tasted. Maybe I should've ordered differently? I ended up getting the veggie omelet (without peppers and tomatoes). One plus was that they didn't pre-butter the toast. I liked that. Most places put gobs of butter on, that I end up wiping off with a napkin. This is also one of the few places that sell creamed chip beef (which isn't my jam but might be yours)!

Brilliant idea. The hostess took our name and phone number and we received a txt when our table was ready. The hostess was very friendly and attentive. The ambiance was amazing. They had a great seating area for patrons who were waiting for a table. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Since it was our first time at this restaurant we were unsure about what we should order. She gave great suggestions. We ordered the fried oysters, oyster burger, and shrimp with vegetables and eggs. We also ordered a pineapple crush and the localizer. The food was very flavorful and fresh. The oyster burger was very unique it had a fried oyster on top of the patty which was great. It was cooked to perfection and very juicy. The fried oysters were great as well. They came with Pita bread and spinach dip to make an oyster sandwich. Amazing!!! The drinks were on point as well. We made a special trip to Rustic Spoon for my husband's birthday because their website listed…read morescotch eggs, which was something he'd been craving forever and that we hadn't been able to find anywhere around town. It happened to be Restaurant Week, which made us a little nervous, but it ended up being totally fine. The dining room never felt overly crowded, the noise level was comfortable, and having the Restaurant Week prix fixe, drink specials, and regular menu all available gave us plenty of options without feeling overwhelming. One small note: the plastic logo cups served with the water decanter felt a little out of place. They were a bit sharp on the lips and didn't quite match the rest of the dining experience. Minor detail, but noticeable. The drinks, however, were excellent. On our server's recommendation, my husband ordered the Gingerbread Old Fashioned and I had the Salted Caramel Martini. Both were seasonal specials and both were fantastic. When we asked about the scotch eggs, our server explained they're normally a brunch-only item. We were a little disappointed (and may have made a few pouty faces while explaining we'd come specifically for them for his birthday), but we quickly let it go, it obviously wasn't her fault. What we didn't realize was that she went back and told the kitchen manager that it was his birthday and that we'd made the trip just for those scotch eggs. Since the kitchen wasn't slammed, they decided to make them anyway and surprised us with an order. We were honestly floored. My husband was thrilled. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. And the scotch eggs were exactly what he'd been hoping for! They were crispy on the outside with a rich, savory center. For entrées, his Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy with the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. My Haystack Burger was stacked and delicious, though the BBQ sauce was strong enough to overshadow the pickled green tomato a bit. The fries were fantastic - crispy, battered, and perfect from first bite to last. Our server checked in at all the right times and kept drinks refilled without us needing to ask. The fact that she went out of her way to do something special during one of the busiest weeks on a restaurant's calendar says a lot about both her and the restaurant. Rustic Spoon is the kind of place that works just as well for a casual date night as it does for a birthday dinner or a night out with friends.

Once I added hot sauce, honey, salt, and pepper, it brought the chicken to life and tasted much better. My daughter ordered the smothered chicken and biscuits, butter biscuits topped with cheesy eggs, fried chicken, and cajun cream sauce. The picture below may not look the most appetizing, but don't let that fool you because this dish was packed with flavor! The only downside was the eggs were a bit overcooked. My daughter is picky about eggs, so next time she said she'll ask for them lightly scrambled or over medium. Now let's talk about the drinks lol. I love a good hot cup of coffee and they did NOT miss with the coffee. Smooth, hot, and flavorful. My daughter also said the sweet tea was really good. I already knew this was my destination as I had been following them since they opened in VB. Upon our arrival we found the Cafe about a 1/4th of the way full so I had hopes for breakfast in a quiet setting. Even though there was a steady flow of traffic, we were able to dine in a relaxed setting without feeling rushed. I mention this because with it being a holiday weekend full of Jeepers, I fully expected them to be packed. The wait to order was too long as it left me staring at the pastry window so long I almost ordered one of everything however; I refrained from doing so but still bought 4 pastries, French toast & seasoned potatoes. Yes yes, alot of food for 1 person but I still had 2 days left in my visit and well, I have a thing for pastries. The pastries were: mango & passion fruit eclair, a pineapple muffin, lemon raspberry cake & profiteroles. I loved everything with the exception of the eclair. It wasn't anything against the eclair, it's just the mango/passionfruit mixture was just too passionate for my tastes. The muffin reminded me of my own homemade upside pineapple cake without all the brown sugar. It was light and buttery. The Lemon raspberry slice was delightful & not the least bit tart or too sweet. A mixture of both flavors without either one overpowering the other. The cake was super moist, perfect. The profiteroles were my favorite. They reminded me of that feeling I had the 1st time I tasted them while living in Italy. The choux perfectly baked and so delightfully light. The French toast was good enough without the side of syrup. The star for me of the breakfast items were the potatoes. I LOVED them. They were served HOT, seasoned just right with their insides softer that a baby bottom. I coulda just ordered 2 servings of those & bypassed the toast. All in all, well worth the wait.
