Question of the day: Who on earth at the Baker's corporation recruits their managers? Poor choices at the Calimesa location to say the least. We visited the drive thru today (9/17/15 at 3:28pm check #308). There were no other cars in the drive thru and the parking lot was dead. Ordered two deal of the day - which was 1/2 pound fries. Pulled up immediately upon ordering. The girl opened the window at 3:32 (whopping 4 minutes later), took our money and asked if we wanted hot sauce or ketchup. Informed her we would like curl-your-tongue hot sauce. She closes the window and opens it back up no less than a minute later and asked the same question if we wanted hot sauce or ketchup. Told her AGAIN, curl-your-tongue hot sauce. Blank stare: she closes the window again. At 3:37, opens the window, handing us our french fries with (4) packets of hot sauce and no salt, no napkins. First off, we've now waited 9 minutes in the drive thru that was empty with other patrons....for FRIES! The bag had (4) hot sauce packets only. Since the window was immediately closed, I got the attention of a manager through the tinted window. She opened the window and I asked for more hot sauce, as clearly, 4 packets is not sufficient for two 1/2 pound orders of fries that several of us are going to snack on! I said waiting nearly 10 minutes for fries was ridiculous. The manager smiled with a sarcastic smug grin and said "okay thanks" - no professional apology for the delay on behalf of the location, etc. After the crummy attitude, I said I'd be following up with the corporate office and she sarcastically said "ok, have a nice day". That woman needs to be sweeping the floor in the back with those lousy people skills. It's a shame that a chain such as Bakers employs people like this manager. I wonder if they realize what goes on. Too bad I wasn't a mystery shopper. Her name tag wasn't visible - Caucasian, straight brown hair, pulled back tight in a braid or bun, thin build, and a very ugly personality. Should be easy for corporate to identify her and do some coaching for improvement. read more

Bakers has very tasty food, but their portions have become so small it's ridiculous. Not only have their portions become small but the prices have risen. This morning I got a breakfast burrito, and it was barely thicker than the tortilla with almost no red sauce. I've become disappointed in Bakers lately. Baker's usually gets it right when it comes to quality and service, but for whatever reason, they could not get my order right, twice. I came by and placed my order which included a chicken quesadilla meal. They put the entire meal in my bag, except for, yeah, you guessed it... the chicken quesadilla. I go back the next day and request my food they missed. Yes, they gave me a quesadilla, except now they forgot the chicken. Needless to say I gave up. For one, I did not want to wait in their long drive-thru line for the third night in a row and two I was sick of eating Baker's at this point. How hard is it to make a plain, extra cheese mama burger? Obviously very. So they remember to put it on the receipt and charge me the extra 40cents but not on the actual burger. Okay okay, I'm honestly used to people screwing up that order. Plain extra cheese is some kind of foreign language. So we drive back and my bf goes in to fix it. He shows there is no double cheese. Manager goes ahead to fix it. He ends up letting my bf keep the old one and gives us a free fry. Drive home and low and behold the new one is also a single cheese. -_- really? We even tried to be positive and say there were two, but I have had their burgers for years, there was definitely one. This location is definitely a no go for me ever again. I have been a die-hard Bakers fan my entire life. When I moved out of state I was so sad, and every visit home, Bakers would be my first stop. I'd even brag to friends who had never been to CA. This Calimesa location has sadly gone so far down hill, I believe tonight was my final visit. I wasn't prepared to retire you in 2022 but after repeated visits with continuous horrid food, I cannot continue this nonsense. Bakers, your buns are stale and flavorless, your fries are terrible, the food is cold EVERY SINGLE TIME. Why? In addition to the subpar quality of the food, my order is wrong 75% of the time. Wild. Why I continued to return is because you were superior than any other fast food chain EVER and I stood by that. Now, that's not the case at all, and I wish you the best of luck in improving yourselves. I miss the old Bakers :( read more

Went to get some tacos and burritos tonight and was in the drive thru when i realized as i got up to the window I had forgotten to order the peppermint shake. I told the girl I would be happy to go back through the line as there were a couple of cars behind me but she insisted that it was no problem and they would make it for me. The food was great and I so appreciate the good customer service by this team (especially the girl working the drive thru window). In the past few months I've seen the ugly side of customer service and this Bakers in Calimesa made me feel like a valued customer and will most definitely get my return business. read more

Stopped by here on a road trip and man this food is good! The line seemed a little long but it went fairly quickly. Had the twin combo, decent price and burger was bomb. Man I see a lot of crappy reviews for this Bakers and I'd like to throw my 2 cents in... I've been going to this bakers my entire life (im 18 now) and never once have I had food served in the low quality I've seen in these review pictures. Bakers is the perfect place for when you can't decide between a burger or tacos, just get both. My fav is the carnitas burrito with a bean and cheese burrito, or a cheeseburger and shake. Really dang good food, always pretty fast given the line. It's impressive how fast the crew here can get an entire line of cars through. Just remember most people leave reviews on Yelp when they are severely underwhelmed by the quality/service, and don't leave good reviews for places that have never let them down. They were out of curl your tongue hot sauce, the combo burritos are tiny now that they changed their tortillas! My taco was cracked in half, the red burrito was split open with beans pouring out, had to eat it with a fork. Horrible experience! And now that the tortillas are cheap ones and small, I won't be returning. They had the best tortillas before, why change something that was so good? read more

Dropped by here on the way home from a short day trip and wanted to try them out. Super overpriced food and service. That about sums it up. You're paying like $8 for a "Papa's Meal", which is frankly a normal sized meal at other fast food restaurants. I got a "Double Baker" meal and the double cheeseburger is severely lacking in flavor and portion size. The patties are dry and the cheese has a really "fake" processed cheese product taste to it. The fries were average. As for service, it's also like the food. I asked for the meal "for here", and is clearly marked on the receipt as "here", but they put everything in a paper bag as if I'm taking it "to go". Not a big deal, but I don't see how you can slip that up seeing as it's not that busy. One of my buddies also requested to have his fries extra crispy, but one of the employees says that they can't do that because fries are on a "timer". Well, maybe you can, I don't know... reset the timer after the fries went through once and let them go through a second cycle? I don't know... Could be the employees here, but this has severely turned me away from visiting any other Baker's locations in the future. Pro-tip: If you drive down the 10 West another 5 minutes, there's an In-N-Out location in Yucaipa. Go there instead. read more

I'm a regular at this Baker's & the service is usually okay, food comes out pretty fast. There is this girl named Irene who has terrible customer service, she is too serious and doesn't smile enough. I stopped by at the drive thru and I got a really warm greeting from a girl named Tania. She was such a sweetheart and super patient with me, as the menu had been updated and I had a lot of questions. I hope she continues to work here because I'll be coming in more regularly again and I'd love to be helped by her every time. Good food, good prices. I see some people complaining in reviews of long lines. I repeat, good food, good prices. You want short lines, go someplace that serves crappy food at high prices. The burgers are 90+% as good as In-n-Out (which has even longer lines). The fries are almost as good as McDonald's used to be forty years ago (and way better than In-n-Out fries). They have Coke-Zero. They have a large menu with Mexican and Vegetarian specialties. If you go at a busy time, the lines will be long. I'm local, I eat here about once a week. If Bakers is wrong, I don't want to be right. They make the best bean and cheese burritos on earth. The ground beef tacos are ten times better than taco bell's. The hamburgers are decent but I rarely order one because of the tacos and burritos. The grilled chicken sandwich is very very good. The drive thru line can get pretty bad however. So bad, in fact, that going to Bakers can be a bit of a hassle(yes, I'm that lazy). The line isn't their fault though. They're always moving pretty fast. It's just that busy. In short, I really like this place, especially that bean and cheese burrito. read more

This is my favorite Bakers, since the staff are always so friendly and their food is always perfect. I like every Bakers that I have ever eaten at, but this one is the best! I stopped here on the way back from Palm Springs last Sunday, and again was delighted with the staff and food. I actually tried their Garden Burger which I approached with some trepidation since I have been a big meat eater forever. I was pleasantly surprised. Closing my eyes, I took my first bite and lo and behold, it tasted like MEAT, but of course was not. The flavoring used in the patty made it tasty and meat-like in flavor, but without that tofu aftertaste. Again, I wish that Bakers would locate a store closer to Tujunga-or anywhere in metro LA for that matter. I can only partake when I head east for some event. Christian... WOW, what a guy! This man works the night shift yet gives you excellent energy. This is who every manager wants to employ, and every father wants to marry his daughter. This man knows how to serve his customers. Offers me water while I wait and gives me a joke or two on the side, simply amazing. My husband loves Bakers but this location's drive thru is terrible. I think I had about 5 cars in front of me and waited over 35 mins in line. This has happened on multiple occasions. No other Bakers locations I've ever been to, take this long. Not sure why this locations' is so bad. read more

First of all the breakfast selection is horrible. They have no bacon!!! WHAT the!! I had their sausage and egg burrito and it is awful. Sausage is overcooked and rubbery. Save yourself disappointment and just go to Del Taco across the street. read more
