    Desayuno las palmas

This is probably my second time at las palmas, I had a lulo shake and the breakfast las palmas which consist of rice with eggs mixed, steak and arepa. Is a great place, family friendly and the staff is nice. I would come back again and try again other things on the menu.

My husband and I went to try this place out yesterday. Being honest I was not impressed at all. I read the reviews before we go and was expecting way more than what we got. The empanada was okay, for entree we both decided on carne assada that came with salad, rice, beans and plantain, I asked that waiter to switch the plantain for fried cassava and she said that she couldn't. ???? The food was just regular. We also order pork crackling that was way over cooked and over seasoned. The place it is simple which is no big deal but wasn't clean the way it was supposed to be and a huge spider jumped on my lap while I was eating. The waitress was very attentive only down side was she looked not to be familiar with the menu. In my opinion the food is WAY overpriced for what we get. This being said we will not be back. That being sad we won't be back.

    Chorizo was meh! Flavorless

I have no idea what type of bakery this place is portraying to be. But with 100% certainty they are NOT Colombians! And therefore you will not find any good empanadas, pan de bono, arepas, or even good cafe con leche. The empanadas were disgusting and very tiny! I couldn't determine what was inside them. The cafe con leche was horrible!!! It was like hotel American coffee! How on earth can people give this place more than one star is beyond me! Then again they have nothing to compare it to so to them this is probably an amazing bakery. NOTHING in this bakery is Colombian so don't be fooled. They microwave EVERYTHING! And please do not order any coffee, it sucks.

The coffee at in Columbian restaurant is worth the trip

This is my ideal breakfast spot, which is ideal because it's right across the street from my home. I recommend you either be familiar with Columbian food or adventurous, because the menu is comprised of dishes and ingredients slightly foreign to someone raised on a typical American diet of chili dogs and chicken nuggets. For a simple breakfast, you can't beat the freshly made empanadas and a cup strong Columbian coffee. Since it's a bakery and a restaurant, there is a large selection of fresh baked breads, cookies and pastries. I recommend a piece of Tres Leches cake.

Food was good, never would have known this place if it was not for Michael on help. We ate around 2pm today and I am not hungry at all. Bathroom was clean that is a plus in my book. We got a dozen empanadas to go. Only down side for us was no tea or non sugar drinks, but I did have mango juice and it was delicious. Blink and you will miss this place just follow the directions on yelp. I LOVE YELP.

Wow, we made a great decision trying Mama Juana Latin Fusion. We had an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the host, we knew this was going to be something different. The host asked, and was genuinely excited when we told him it was our first time in. When the waiter arrived, he was excited to tell us about the menu, as well as the food itself. He enthusiastically explained that while they had Mexican dishes, authentic Latin food was their real specialty. He made great recommendations and took great care of us throughout the meal. We chose to try the empanadas (1 cheese, 1 chicken, and 1 steak) and some cheese dip with chorizo. Both were exceptional. Full of flavor. My wife and I agreed to split 2 entrees, and that was another good decision. I had the Cachapa with shredded chicken, and she had the Venezuelan Arepas. Neither of us had ever had these dishes, but both were amazing. We were stuffed, but no way we couldn't take a desert home for later. The flan and the Tres Leches were both AWESOME! If you are on the fence, just try this place. You will be glad you did! They take a tremendous of pride in the quality of the food. The restaurant was very clean and had a great ambiance.

We went on Monday, not a busy day in the middle of the afternoon however our server gave us some the best experience. He was very knowledgeable about all the items. He made great suggestions and was attentive. Our only complaint was the yuca. It was very bland. Flavorless. Everything else was very flavorful. The beef you could tell was marinated as well as tender. It just fell apart with the pull of a fork. The Cubano was great as well. I had the Tampa cubano that added the salami. We will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes. We love that there was a variety of items to choose from .

Well, I did kinda...I have passed this…read moreColumbian "bakery" for many years without a second thought and I sure could kick myself for not trying it sooner! The Columbian Bakery+Restaurant has operated in this same storefront for around 20 years but I have never stopped in. I am not particularly familiar with Columbian-style foods and I did not feel there was anything that I would like from their "bakery". Boy, I do not think I have ever been more wrong about anything in my life...memories of past boyfriends start to creep in slowly-haha! I am currently obsessed with Statesville's Columbian Bakery+Restaurant! Yes, I said it! Not slightly obsessed, completely obsessed! I have patronized this business twice this week already and I plan to go there again before the weekend is over! The food is amazingly and authentically appetizing! To date, I have experienced the yummy goodness that is their Beef Empanadas, Tostones, Maduros, and my current foodie crush, Pan de Bonos. Each and every food item is fresh made to order except of course, for the bakery items BUT the bakery items are fresh made daily. The Beef Empanadas are a little meat-filled hand pie and they are so delicious! The pie consists of a thin cornmeal-type crust wrapped around the meat filling then deep fried. The meat filling is finely chopped or minced beef with small bits of potato (another reviewer said, beans, idk which it is but they're delicious) mixed in. It sounds heavy but it is actually quite light because the consistency of the filling is so fine and the outer crust is so thin. These yummies are so good, you cannot eat just one! The Tostones are smashed and fried green plantains. These are a salty side which taste like potatoes and they pair very well with the empanadas. The Maduros are fried ripe plantain chunks. I have had these before at other Latin restaurants and I do love them! The maduros from Columbian Bakery+Restaurant did not disappoint! They are just as good as any I've had and maybe just a little better because they are so fresh when you get them! These are a sweet side with just a hint of tartness. They pair well with any of the spicy foods served at this restaurant but I always eat them as a dessert! My favorite, the Pan de Bonos, are a bakery item but I was lucky enough to stop by when pan after pan of these little delectable puff balls were coming out hot and fresh from the oven. Yesssss! Who doesn't love a light and fluffy cheese bread ball?!? Cheese and Bread! Sign me up every time! But not to worry these addictive little things reheat really well in the microwave. I know because I ordered a dozen on my last visit! I cannot wait to go back to this Columbian paradise right in the heart of Statesville and try out more of their food offerings! The Columbian Bakery+Restaurant is active on social media, both Facebook and Instagram, so check them out! Be forewarned, they post videos of their yummy goodness often! They, also, have an online menu app.colombianbakerync.com for your browsing pleasure. You're welcome! I think I see a trip to Downtown Statesville in your near future! @columbianbakerystatesville @downtownsvl #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocalbusiness #shopsmall #shoplocal #eat-local
