    Hinkle's Bear Claws
    Danielle G.

The Bear Claws are just as I remembered them going to Hinkle's as a child. We also picked up a half dozen cake donuts. Our favorite was the glazed chocolate. Great service at the Sylvania location. We will be back the next time we are in town!

Serving Toledo since 1989 Scott Nugent's Bakery Unlimited remains the West Side's destination for Donuts even today, locations on Secor and Sylvania open early with dozens of choices loading racks and shelves daily. A third generation Baker with and Glass City native, father Dave passing his knowledge on early, Nugent's prowess is on display in everything from Cakes to Muffins and Hinkle's famous Bearclaws, novelties such as a glazed Kronut lined up next to toothsome Fry Cakes. Fair priced and baked fresh, both a Maple Frosted Persian and yeasty Cinnamon Roll still warm, Bakery Unlimited's Fritter is unfortunately in dire need of Apples while a Cream Cheese Muffin only finds Blueberries penetrating ¾ inch down. Hard to botch a Buckeye, good Chocolate and smooth Peanut Butter gone in two bites, both Twists and Rings with Pink Frosting outperform most, though East Siders are better off staying close to home where Don's Donuts offers better for less.

Items at the Dragon's Roost on Sylvania & McCord. These are baked good items from Bakery Unlimited.

My review is based on buying items prepared by Bakery Unlimited at the Dragon's Roost, a new coffee shop and game store on Sylvania Ave & McCord. This shop sells a bunch of their items. I tried the "bear claw" and it was delish so I bought one for $2.00. It is not what you normally think of a bear claw. It is not a giant pastry but instead a long thin pastry (very flat) and could reasonably be a bear's claw (just one claw on its paw) with white frosting. It's really good!! Also, the recipe comes from an old Toledo bakery that closed 15 years ago (the coffee shop owner told me) and this bakery won the bake off that granted them the secret recipe. Then I got a brownie with white frosting and marshmallows + a brownie with chocolate frosting. WOW THEY WERE SO GOOD I COULD NOT STOP EATING. Like WOW. If this is but a sample of their items, I can't wait to visit the main store.

The entire top layer of the roll has split and separated from the rest of the roll.

Amazing, Decadent pastries! Donuts possibly the best in town. One complaint: not much actual apple in the Apple fritters.

Eloped in August and needed a cake to celebrate with family afterwards. Eston's was very easy to…read morework with and the cake turned out exactly how I envisioned! Not to mention the flavors we got were incredible. Lately I've been trying to come up with a reason to order another cake because it was so good!

I have had nothing but great experiences with Eston's! I found them at a wedding expo where we…read moretried samples. They did the cake for our wedding and cheesecake for the grooms "cake" (my husband's favorite). We had no issues and the cake was beautiful, exactly what we wanted. This was in 2017 haha. I only wish they were closer to my home, and I would order all the time, but honestly for special occasions I make the 40 minute drive! Call ahead to order and you won't be disappointed. I also had them do my gender reveal cake recently and it was cute and delicious. My SIL who isn't even a fan of chocolate was impressed and asked where it came from. I sent them the gender info via email and they were so kind coordinating what flavor cake we wanted with what would work to show off the color even doing a test run ahead of time with frosting and calling me back to let me know without ruining anything. You see horror stories online and they did such a good job! Very communicative via phone and email. Yum yum. Will be going back for my daughter's first birthday cake.
