This place is incredibly over-priced. I believe they don't place prices on anything for this reason. I was living close by and was in desperate need for milk and cereal for the morning. I kid you not, it was nearly $15, and it was quite ridiculous. They charge $3 if you want to take out of their ATM and have a $5 limit on purchasing with a debit card. I understand the charge for using the ATM but I feel $3 is extreme. I'm sure they think they can con tourists out of their money and assume if you're living in the Balboa area you can afford these things but there are a lot of college students/post grads who rent the beach houses during the fall and spring when the prices drop. The staff is friendly but it doesn't make up for the high prices. The only reason why I keep going back is for convenience of location. *Since posting this, Armit S. on Yelp contacted me to tell me I'm an idiot for writing how I feel about this location and goes on to be vocal about how people who vote one star are dumbasses in his own review: "Those 1 stars are from dumbasses who can't afford there own mistakes and complain about others who are doing their day when they themselves are the problem)." This doesn't make sense to me at all. I can't afford my own mistakes apparently (whatever these may be) and apparently I am a problem. I have a feeling this person knows the family who owns the business (a family I've never had a personal issue with) and likes to make excuses for their high prices. This only makes their business look worse when someone takes the time to contact you and call you an idiot. Negativity and then mentioning a location is never good marketing.

BELL OF BALBOA! This has to be the nicest liquor store/deli on the peninsula! Honestly! They've just remodeled the store a few months back to include new fridges and a great deli section featuring Boar's Head products! SWEET! The have sandwiches, hot dogs, fresh cheesecake and much more in the deli section! They use local bakeries such as Cesi Bon for their sandwich bread! The service is great! Always greeted with a smile! They have a wonderful beer and alcohol section! A great big parking lot which is important on the peninsula! The place is clean and well kept! You can't go wrong! --Flat Tire or a Tall can?-- -Great fresh products! -Clean store and parking lot! -Service with a smile *B

I had the Fun Zone (pastrami sandwich), and my boy had the Wedge (italian meats, tomato, lettuce). The pastrami and the italian meats were delicious and high quality. Thank you for using Boar's Head meats! The bread on the Wedge (sourdough) left something to be desired, however. Next time, I think we will go for the rye. Solid sandwiches in terms of taste. They were a bit small, though, especially for $8 each. Maybe I'm just a fatty :-)

Expensive place with no labels. Smells like trash in there, however, the only good thing I have to say about this place is the pizza.

When the two hours were up, we were finishing our last glass when Gabe came over and aggressively started clearing our table and telling us to leave. When I explained that we weren't aware of the time limit, instead of simply explaining the policy, he was condescending and said, "You should know this. Everybody knows this" His attitude was completely unnecessary and incredibly disrespectful. He also appeared to have been drinking himself, which made his behavior even more uncomfortable. It's one thing to enforce a policy it's another to treat paying customers like they're being kicked out of the place. A simple heads-up when we arrived would have prevented the entire situation. My bf spends hundreds $$$ at this place. This was such a bad experience!!! I am very disappointed.

The restaurant is really nice with indoor and outdoor seating. The service is meh. Not too excited to order at a counter and then if you need anything you are forgotten. You ordered food and drink at the counter, paid the cashier, took a table number placard, found a table, and waited for your food to be brought to you. Not anymore; you're shown to a table, where a server waits on you, then serves you. The Breakfast Burrito was my favorite, while my wife loved their quiche. They baked and served yummy dishes and pastries! But the restaurant changed hands, and a restaurant conglomerate from S.E. Asia bought the small chain from a local owner, and took over ownership. They changed the food service style, food specials, the ambiance, and our old favorite dishes. I know, "Change with the times!" But we're creatures of habit, good food, good service, and good ambiance, and Zinc has lost all three. We no longer go to Zinc, nor do we recommend it. We give it two stars.

I had a lottery ticket I needed to cash in (I won $10 and 2 free tickets) so my Dad and I walked in and I handed the ticket to the gal behind the counter. She told me I'd be getting $10 cash. To which I said, "$10 AND 2 tickets, right?." She responded by saying, "No! $10 is all I'm giving you." So I pointed to the ticket where it clearly said 2 Tickets. She then showed me the print out and said VERY rudely, "do you see what it says? It says $10 and that's all you're getting!" So I took my ticket back and told her, "ok, well then I'm going to take this somewhere else." As my Dad and I were walking to the door she said, "oh my god, you're such a fu*king bit*h." Now I understand the market is going out of business later this month and maybe they no longer care about their customers that have kept them in business for all these years, but I couldn't let this slide without saying something. This cashier had a rotten attitude from the second we walked in the door. I probably could've dealt with that and shrugged it off but being called a f'ing bit*h by her is not only grossly inappropriate, it's extremely offensive and beyond unprofessional. I will never go back in there or give a dime of my money to them again. If i could give them 0 stars, I would.
