Sasha is an incredible instructor; clear, patient, and highly skilled at breaking down steps into manageable pieces. She layers skills thoughtfully, building confidence while continually adding complexity. One of the things we appreciate most is how quickly she can gauge what each dancer needs. Even in a group setting, she's excellent at pausing the class to correct and clarify, making sure everyone truly understands before moving on. She also complements her classes with social dances, which give students a chance to practice in a relaxed setting, and she has built a community that is not only supportive but genuinely warm and welcoming. We look forward to our weekly escape from work, and we're always surprised by how much we continue to learn in such a short period of time. Try a class or two; you'll be hooked.

We started coming here when they opened in 2017 mostly because my wife wanted to. But it is impossible not to be won over by the place. The franchise owners Thomas and Fransiska, are champion dancers themselves and as mesmerizing to watch as anyone on DWtS. They are incredibly warm and welcoming and are constantly creating parties, showcases, and events to make it fun. We take most of our lessons with Klaudia who is amazingly energetic, knowledgeable, fun, and a perfect teacher who always knows just what to say to help us get better. She is a pure delight. Arthur Murray has a well-established structured curriculum with about a dozen levels (the highest being practically like a professional dancer) which requires specific steps and techniques to be mastered before graduating to the next level. It amazes me, but they can actually teach people to dance--not just the steps, but all the moves. We actually look like dancers now. The arrangement is more like belonging to a club. You pay for weekly individual lessons but are free to attend group lessons, which are offered 6 times a week. In addition, they host twice-weekly evening "practice parties" where they dim the lights and play 2-minute clips of all the different dances for everyone to dance their steps and just have fun. My wife can't get enough; she is at the studio 6 times a week. If you have any inclination to learn to dance, there will never be a better opportunity to do it than Arthur Murray Tenafly.

However, our instructor, Min, and the other members were so welcoming and reassured me that most people starts out inexperienced. For the hour, I was practically DESTROYED, but not at all in a bad way- similar to eating spicy food as beads of sweat roll down your face and the sense of accomplishment when you finish. We went through several songs and learned basic choreo (well, I wouldn't exactly call my movements choreo). Of course, I remember 0 steps from the class, but it was such a fun experience nonetheless. I called and explained this and they told me just to come and try it out - that I'll be able to know if I like it and keep up or not. So I did - and everyone was so encouraging and welcoming! I kept going and I can say it's because the group of dancers are so supportive. Many of the women in the advanced class are former pro dancers, dancers who are part of a company, or lifelong ballet dancers. So it's easy to learn from them. The studio is nice, bright, and large and there is a separate changing room. This is a serious school, but if you want somewhere to dance where you won't feel pressure or judgment, definitely come!
