Following up: I want to commend OneLife Tenleytown management for making substantial progress…read moretowards addressing many requests/complaints from the Crunch members (including me) who joined last month at the close of the Crunch Friendship Heights gym. Management reached out to me personally after my review and took time to we meet and discuss the issues noted. That week OneLife had already announced & added several classes requested by Crunch alumni, retrofitting them into time-slots that helped reduce overcrowding in the original schedule. The two weeks following, even more classes were added. OneLife also brought over some of the former Crunch instructors which helped several of us with the transition. Fair to say that we're still adapting and hoping that there's more to come, but I wanted to make a call out to the management for coming through on these additions!

I had a very disappointing experience at OneLife Tenleytown. I joined with my mother, who was…read morerecovering from an accident, and transferred from Bethesda for proximity and convenience. Within the first week, I asked to cancel because her doctor instructed her not to use machines and only do aquatic therapy. I also told Brittany, the General Manager, that I travel often and could not attend consistently. She reassured me that I could cancel at any time with no extra fee and convinced me to stay. Unfortunately, the problems only got worse. I had repeated issues accessing the gym, my membership number was changed without explanation, and my account was incorrectly charged three times in October, including an unexplained charge of $84.80 that no one has been able to clarify. Yet staff repeatedly insist on talking about penalties, deadlines, and additional fees, but show no interest in explaining unauthorized charges. Service inside the gym was also poor: very few machines for the number of people, many members sitting on equipment on their phones, no staff intervention, frequent lack of towels, and overall weak customer service. Despite trying to cancel from the first week--and only staying because of Brittany's promises--I am now being threatened with penalty fees of $278.97 and $111.27, plus another month of charges if I don't pay by December 29. I strongly recommend that anyone considering a membership here review everything carefully. The staff seems far more interested in signing people up than in providing proper service afterward.

Ok: the functional fitness area is a lot smaller than expected. It felt like the emphasis was on group fitness. The recovery options were limited to theraguns, sauna foam rollers when I visited. Disappointing: for the monthly fee, I'd expect a pool. I don't think any of the Equinox locations in the DMV are particularly stellar in comparison to other cities.

I've heard the NY ones are even better, so I'm excited to check them out the next time I visit New York! The Wisconsin one is the best one in the DMV area, in my opinion. It is brand new (about 6 months old) and offers free 2 hour validated garage parking. The DMV membership gym gives you access to multiple equinox gym, including the ones I go to: Tyson's corner (free all day parking), Wisconsin Ave (2 hour free parking), and Bethesda (paid parking). Benefits of Wisconsin Ave: - Brand New - Next to Wegmans (can grab a snack) and King Street Oyster (happy hour) - Free 2 hour parking - Large range of classes and timeframes - Great bench spot for people who WFH - Steam Room Downsides: - No pool - More limited personal trainers tiers (they're still hiring) - Only 2 hour parking (about one class + a shower could fit in this timeframe). - Traffic into DC can take awhile Why I decided to join Equinox in general: - Fantastic bathrooms - cleaned 3x/day with Kiehls products (some of the best skincare/hair stuff) - Provides measurements and fat-muscle ratios - Has Eucalyptus infused towels - Luxury aesthetic and feeling - Overall lifestyle Equinox is truly a lifestyle, not just a gym. You're surrounded by likeminded people!

Since 2006, I've lost and kept off considerable weight, gained muscle tone and enjoy a happier and healthier standard of living. I've been to other gyms and am tired of the same old "crap shoot" when it comes to your trainer and their knowledge. It is a studio and not an old warehouse - it's more personal and private, though it still has all the amenities you need to shower and secure your personal items. All the equipment (weights and cardio) are NEW, top of the line, clean and work!! I've been to too many gyms where that is NOT the case...I'm sure we all have! If you are serious about your training, your results and are tired of meat market gyms, this is the place to get serious. In the end, you have to want it and going to the same gym day in and day out can get challenging - which brings me to my final point about Tidal EPC - the owner and staff are so much fun to be around...lets face it, good conversation is not required...nor is laughter - but what a difference it makes!

I've been coming to Van Ness Golds for a while…read more Pros: Recent renovation. Locker rooms and paint all brand new and custom combination lockers are pretty cool. Theres a new turf area that wasnt there before for "functional" stuff. I think people are gradually warming up to that. The dumbbell selection and free weight area are stellar and there are multiple new and non crumbling free weight benches. The weight machines they brought in weren't brand new but they are a lot sturdier and useful than the old ones. Im glad they kept some of the older and reliable machines which us meatheads were used to and enjoyed using. I think they make the most out of the small building they're in. Staff is mostly alright. Cleaning crews are always busy sweeping and mopping stuff and they may be the hardest working people there. Cons: Multiple small things which could be improved with a bit of attention are glaring and gold's should know better. Examples: none of the weight machines and benches are secured to the ground so when people slam weights over and over the benches and machines "walk" across the weight floor. The overhead press is especially bad and Ive had to push it back into place three times now. This is an easy 30 min fix w a power drill and the appropriate anchors. The cable station lacks any of the small 2.5 or 5lb rubber inserts to put on the stack to go up by 5lbs instead of the 15 or so pounds each plate weighs. You can't buy these small inserts? The numbers on the plate stack on these stations are well worn off so you can't see what you're lifting. Again, this is a purchase for stickers, not anything expensive at all. Finally, and MOST ANNOYING is 90% the treadmills are all unbalanced. As soon as you climb on you notice you're leaning to the left or right by a few degrees and you def feel it in your leg joints the next day. Golds please please please fix this. I think mill 0029 is the only one worth using. All in all Gold's Van Ness could be 5/5 if some of the most basic things were taken care of. Because these issues have remained more than 2 months after renovation it gets a 3/5.

I especially enjoy the cleanliness of the showers and restroom areas. The heart monitor is another great addition to the gym, it gives me a clear idea on if I should increase or decrease my exercise intensity. The app is also very good. It makes keeping track of stats and workouts easy, and syncs my the Apple Watch. The staff and studio manager here are all friendly, informative, and helpful. Every staff member at the Orangetheory Tenleytown are excellent but Arbyana stands out to me the most. Her attention to the customers and vibrant energy really makes the difference between this and any other Orange Theory. Her positivity is definitely a reason why myself and probably many other members keep coming back to this location to workout and feel good about our exercise progress. I attend most classes with Coach Julie. She is a former Olympian, great motivator, and wonderful at showing examples of the workouts. I like attending Coach Aitana's classes as well. She is a great motivator and cares about members doing the workout correctly. She puts in extra effort during themed workout classes and her costumes make the class fun and enjoyable. The new coaches Oscar, Jonathan, and Mia were great additions to the gym this year too. They followed Julie and Aitana's workout methods in making the members of the gym feel like they're not left out of the workout. The workout community at this location are also very inviting and open. I can see myself continuing to enjoy coming to this gym for years to come. I enjoy coming to this location so much, I barely notice the passing of time during each session. Thank you.
