While getting my wedding dress, we were referred to Justin Cross at Balani for my fiancé's wedding suit. My fiancee hates dressing up or even tucking in his shirt because it's uncomfortable. After going through the process twice before with another employee (no longer with Balani), I was aware of the steps to take. I wrote her in advance, as far as the color selections I preferred. When I arrived (early) for my appointment, she was ready with everything. After down-selecting the suit swatches, lining, style, piping, thread colors. etc., she took some new core measurements to ensure a good fit. Balani is a joke. Suits made in China, disguised as Italian brand. Owner is from India, not Italy or New York nor is he italian. Everything about this company is false. The suits are made with fabric that's authentic but their salesmen, Landon, was completely ridiculous and pretentious. I felt like I was in an theatre play the whole time he was selling to me. He pretends to know a lot about what he's selling, but in reality he's like a used car salesman for suits - no authenticity behind him or his company. Nice try, guys. read more

Technically I've never actually been to the Balani store, but I just had a bespoke suit, four jackets, and some shirts made by Justin Cross who works at Balani. First and foremost, Justin has exceeded all of my expectations and is now my go-to guy anytime I need something bespoke made. He listens carefully to what you're interested in, provides a wealth of knowledge and options, and then delivers the goods! I recently visited the store to look at suits and tuxes and the experience was unbelievable and way better than Savile Row in London (or any other men's tailor store I've visited)! The store inside is amazing and very nicely decorated with a lot of samples to look at. The staff are extremely professional and spend a lot of time with clients showing them fabrics and going into every detail. I got in touch with Kristen, who booked me a convenient appointment and sent me pictures ahead of our appointment so I can look at them and have a better idea of what I want. Furthermore she provided clear information throughout the process and spent an insane amount of time with me making sure I am happy and feel 100% sure on my choice of fabric and design. With regards to the actual quality everything is hand stitched and the level of detail that goes in remind me of Savile Row and was a breath of fresh air for menswear shopping. I've found a high quality tailored suit is well worth the money. For me, previously, the downside vs buying off-the-rack has always been the hassle and amount of time involved. I stumbled across Balani advertising just when I was thinking about buying some new stuff, saw their stellar Chicago reviews, and called on a lark. I couldn't be happier with the finished clothing and the overall experience. Scheduling the appointment was simple, and Landon worked around my schedule and came out to my office to meet me. He's a great guy, and totally relaxed throughout the process, as opposed to some of my prior more 'stuffy' experiences. He asked about my needs, my style, my budget, and then led me through an extensive array of fabrics, patterns, cuts, and embellishments. He took all my measurements right there as well. As I type it, it sounds like a lot, but it was fun, and we were done in under an hour. He was great in guiding me and winnowing down the options to get me exactly what I envisioned but couldn't explain. He called me several days in advance of the estimate and said it was ready. I had ordered something relatively timeless and classic, but with a modern flair, and it was perfect! There were a couple of slight adjustments to be made, as expected, but the final fit and look was exactly what I wanted. More than the final suit though, I just loved how easy and fun the whole process was. The aftercare experience was great as well...as he followed up with me to make sure I was happy with the purchase. I am! It's a great experience, a perfect fit, and overall not much more than buying a high quality suit off the rack. Honestly, unless you need a suit tomorrow, there is no reason to not go this route. My then fiancé and I were looking for a Nehru collared suit - searching all over Los Angeles, the Internet, and even took a trip to London, but nothing really jumped out at us. We found Balani and made an appointment of Justin Cross. The store had only soft-opened and the place was fresh. The expertise, enthusiasm, and care brought by Justin and his peers at Balani made us feel we could entrust them with our (my now wife's) vision and design. We were taken through all the options, explained all the differences, and presented with a clear range of options for our budget. Once the suit arrived for the first fitting it was legit the most amazing feeling I've ever had wearing a suit. It's what a man should feel like in a tailored suit - always. It will be hard to ever wear anything less - or at least that much more noticeable. They went the extra mile to make sure I looked my best - including during the last 2 fittings where I had put on a bit of muscle (I'm an idiot for working out that much between fittings, I know) and the suit didn't fit me as it should. We did 2 rounds of final adjustments to the jacket and a few days before I took off for my wedding, we got the suit back in hand, pressed, ready to go.
