I am so glad that I called the location in Reston Virginia ( across from Home Depot) and was able to bring an extra key fan to get programmed by Ben Dart. Not only was Ben very knowledgeable about the process , but he also sat in my warm car after a huge rain shower to get my extra key fob reprogrammed In approximately 15 minutes From start to finish. I received excellent service from a gentleman named Snake. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and extraordinarily customer service oriented. I am so glad that I dismissed the review with the poor rating because an employee wasn't wearing a mask. If one is so concerned with mask wearing then wear one yourself while receiving exemplary service! If I could give 10 stars I would. Snake assisted me with not only ensuring that keys that were being copied would have the best chance to work and with educating about another lock issue that needed to be addressed. Good old fashioned personal service goes a long way in building strong customer relationships. read more

Must have hit this place on a bad day? Walked in and the guy never greeted me. After standing awkwardly for several seconds, the guy stated he would be with me momentarily. I had my own truck key and Fob (purchased online) but I still needed it to be cut and programmed. Apparently he wasn't happy that I didn't purchase the items from his store. He gave this long story about the quality and said he can't guarantee that the key would work. When it came to programing the Fob, he told me what times of the day that he would program the Fob.. Decided to take my business elsewhere. Literally walked across the parking lot to Home Depot. While waiting for my key, I casually told my story to the employee by the key counter. He laughed, cut my new key and said "have a good day." Did I mention he said "no charge"! Key worked perfectly. I hear good things about the Mclean location, so maybe try them first before the Reston one? Good luck. Maybe I'll give this place another shot later down the road. I dropped into the Reston location to get a vehicle key fob cut, using a key fob I purchased on Amazon. The guy working there was great. Very professional. Didn't give me grief about bringing in my own key fob or try to upsell me on programming it. Just did a great job cutting it and charged me a reasonable price. read more

GO TO HOME DEPOT INSTEAD!!! This place is TERRIBLE- the new key they gave me was wayyyyyyy too thin, looked not at all like the original. This place is an embarrassment. Btw I've been here on more than one occasion (poor judgement on my part), and the person working has extremely bloodshot eyes- and looked super sketchy. I needed to change the lock on my mailbox, and Baldino's was very helpful -- and by far the least expensive option. I had called a locksmith referral service who explained that it would be $25 to come out and "assess" the situation, and after that, he would quote me a price. That seemed a bit much when there are 1000s of these locks all over the place and people must need to rekey them occasionally -- they should have been able to give me a ball park number at least for the installation. The reason they don't (in my opinion) is that they want a chance to upsell you. The person on the phone said that they would evaluate the security of my current lock. It's a mailbox lock -- I just wanted a different one so that an old roommate couldn't get in to it. I neither needed nor wanted a security evaluation! Baldino's on the other hand, said "bring in a picture." The replacement lock was under $30, and I changed it out myself in less than 10 minutes -- now that I've done it once, next time it will probably take me 3 minutes. As long as you have a key for the old lock, there is NOTHING to it. One screw and a clip (plus a hammer to bang the cylinders in and out). Mike, at Baldino's, was very helpful, honest and nice. He was familiar with my specific lock and told me exactly how to change it (yes, the lock came with instructions, too :). I didn't feel ripped off -- how wonderful! read more

Pro: This place actually exists, unlike the vast majority of locksmiths listed in the area. Cons: I drove by twice during posted business hours. Both times, the lights were on but the door was locked, with no indication of when they'd be back. I can understand they might not have someone to sit there all the time, and might be out on a call... but posting hours and just not being there during those hours is disrespectful to your potential customers. They wasted my time. How hard would it be to put up a "Will be back at..." sign? Also, this place seems far more focused on ink cartridge refilling than locksmithing. The big letters in the window are all about ink, and only small letters indicate it's also the locksmith. For a moment, I thought the locksmith was gone, replaced by an ink guy, and they hadn't changed the marquee yet. They might be perfectly good locksmiths, but I don't know and can't recommend them. read more

I needed a replacement key for my Lexus, or so I thought. The cover had cracked and fallen off. I called three places prior to Baldino's and got quotes ranging from $70 - $220. The friendly man that I talked to here immediately said that I just needed a new cover. He gave me a brand name and said I could get it online for about $10. Problem solved, tons of money saved. I'll certainly call them again next time I need lock and key service because they clearly care about the customer, not just the money. read more

I used them recently to have the locks on my new condo replaced and serviced. Frankie the service guy was on time, friendly, and explained in detail what he fixed and how to maintain my locks so they'd last longer. I was able to pay with a credit card which was good since I didn't have any cash on me. Don't know if I got a good deal or not since this was the first time I have ever used a locksmith, but the price did not seem exorbitant. Dustin at Baldino's Lock and Key in Reston is my new hero! I had lost an entire set of keys, including my Prius FOB car key. Luckily I had a spare. After many wasted hours and money at a prominent local Toyota dealership trying to get a second key made, their techs failed and blamed it on my "quirky" car. Dustin told me he could most likely program a new key. Even better, he said that if he couldn't, there would be no charge for the new FOB he ordered. Dustin ordered the right FOB. I went in today and it literally took him 30 seconds to program the key and it works perfectly. I wish I had gone to Baldino's first instead of trying the dealership. Great service from beginning (quote) to end (install). They called before they arrived and installed 2 locks on 2 separate doors. The quotation was actually higher than what I paid; the locksmith they sent out found a creative way to save me money so that I wouldn't have to buy an entirely new lock for one door and vacuumed after the work. He even gave me advice on other locks in the house. I didn't call anyone else for quotes, so I have nothing to compare the price to, but it was reasonable and now my damn cat can't let himself and the dog out while I'm at work! read more

Don't use these guys. Deceptive bait and switch. Was told one price on the phone and a much higher price when the locksmith got to my home. I had made detailed notes from the phone quote but he would not honor it.When I called and spoke with the manager afterward to complain, he just said sorry - with no offer to make it right. Jeez. So much for caring about repeat business and bad Yelp reviews. (this was not emergency service either - during the day during the week). Maybe this is the way it always goes, but the guy disappeared for 20 or so minutes in his truck to rekey my lock - so hopefully he didn't make himself a copy of my key and keep it. I just moved into a foreclosed home and needed some keys made and locks replaced. So I called Baldinos. The girl who answered the phone was very rude and condescending. She mocked me when I tried to describe the kind of locks I wanted installed. She was rude when I told her that key I currently had didn't have any special identification words/numbers on it. I read her what little was on the key and she said "Well that doesn't help me now does it?" So I told her nevermind and called up Spencer's Lock & Key instead. They need to get someone more customer-friendly to answer the phone. read more

This place sucks. I went here after purchasing a replacement car key (which wasn't cheap) and the guy there completely messed it up and made the replacement unusable. He made a point to say there are no guarantees if they mess up. I should have left but I thought an actual locksmith might have better skills than the workers at Home Depot. Anyway, I went to Home Depot right next door and got a replacement that worked first try no problem. read more

I called their office just before lunch time on a Tuesday, asking for a lock to be put in for one of my inside doors. They asked me a few simple questions and scheduled an appointment for between 2-6 PM. Their guy, Jay, called a little before 2 and said he would be there by a little after 2. He showed up on time, was very pleasant, and listened to what I wanted to do and why. He then quickly laid out what he was gong to do, and within about ten minutes, I had a new lock on my door that was keyed to all the rest of the doors in my house. It was so nice to deal with a company and a guy who made things easy for once, compared to many of the vendors I deal with out there. Thanks very much, Baldino's. I recently used Baldino's in Reston to copy a key. The level of service I received was excellent. I had gone to two other places previously to have my key made. Both times the key didn't work. I then went to Baldino's and explained my predicament. Tim, the manager at this location, made a copy and said that if it didn't work to come back and he would make it right. He said that my key was not an original it was a poor copy. He spent extra time on it but it ended up not working. The next time I went back he decoded my key and gave me two different versions, because my key was such a poor copy. He said one of the two would be like a new original and the other one would not work. He did not charge me anything for this additional service. Needless to say one of the two fit my lock and worked perfectly. I was really pleased with Tim's commitment to customer satisfaction. THANK YOU! read more
