Reporting a very positive experience with Jay from Baldino's in Vienna: We are having a minor problem with a latch in a door lock. Jay explained the problem and potential solutions, none of which were things that were easily doable, especially relative to the minor nature of the problem (lock misaligned with door strike plate). You could tell he just wanted to help. He quickly nailed the diagnosis, something that I had not noticed in spite of being technical. I actually used Baldino's some time ago but have only just joined Yelp so thought it appropriate to finally give Baldino's the credit they deserve after a quick, professional service cutting sets of keys for me. I arrived in the US back in late 2012 and my employer had arranged accommodation for me but we had only two sets of keys. Maple Ave is just round the corner and Mr Baldino was able to cut two spare sets in no time at all. Yes, simple job but perfectly executed. 5 stars. read more

With many of the box stores and key machines getting a properly cut key seems like a 50/50 shot. However, after using Baldino's over several years for about two dozen keys, they have only once cut the key incorrectly. It would be nice if they had longer hours, but I will go out of my way to get keys from them because at the end of the day it only saves time and frustration to get keys made properly. read more

Company's emergency lockout service was a joke. Dispatchers were rude and couldn't answer any questions. It took them over 90 mins just to call me back - a simple phone call! Then, when I talked to someone from Baldinos, he said that they couldn't come for many hours... he couldn't even give me an estimated time of arrival. NOTHING! When I asked if he could get someone sooner b/c I was locked out, he was rude and demeaning. Baldinos' other services may be fine (I don't know), but their so-called "emergency service" is terrible. Why are they advertising emergency services if they can't make it to you in a reasonable amount of time? If you need someone to come quick, use someone else. Luckily, I did. The other company sent someone in under an hour from when I first contacted it. read more

As soon as my husband I entered the store, we were greeted by a very unfriendly salesman. I showed him the front door colonial brass lock and asked if there was a way to repair it. He did not answer and pulled out a catalog to purchase a new one (around $300). He was borderline hostile towards us, frowning. It was strange behavior to say the least. I asked if he could at least look at the lock and he declined. I knew Al Baldino years ago from the store in Springfield which gave excellent, friendly service. Needed to change the locks and handle set on a newly purchased home. Called the Vienna, VA, phone number. A young woman answered and set up an appointment. I asked about purchasing the hardware and some Charley bars. I was told to come in...that the store had a few basic styles in stock. When I arrived there, a gentleman told me that Baldino's didn't stock any of the items I was told they did...that the order wait time was about 4 weeks. No apology of any type for the misinformation and inconvenience. The employee never let me finish a sentence, constantly interrupting and talking over me. And, the employee constantly ignored my comments and questions in favor of the comments and questions from my son. Upon leaving the store, we drove to Artie's Lock and Key in Fairfax. They were very friendly and helpful. They had the items we needed in stock, gave us advice about how best to secure to the newly purchased home, and will install these devices in the next day or two. The experience we had at Baldino's was just awful. We will never return or recommend them to anyone. read more

This store has been my go-to place for locks and keys for many years. They are friendly, knowledgable and effficient. I've had problems in the past with other locksmiths who have cut keys for me that did not work in the lock. Since finding Baldino's years ago, I've never bothered to go anywhere else because Baldino's always gets it right. read more

I just had new Medeco locks installed in a couple of our doors. Dewey, the locksmith arrived on time and assessed what we had and explained what was available to us and what he recommended. So we ordered the locks as they were out of stock. It took about 2 weeks for the particular locks to arrive and the scheduler called us with the date of installation. We love the locks and all the keys he cut work flawlessly. I had only planned to do one door but Dewey picked up on another area of potential break in and we got a couple of doors done. The locks were very expensive -- don't think you will get Home Depot prices because these are not your standard locks, but service/labor charges were reasonable and we feel much safer with the new locks. if we need keys duplicated we have to go back to Baldino's as they are the only ones who can cut the keys for us. Highly recommend Baldino's in Vienna, VA if you need better locks. read more
