I purchased a new used car that only came with one fob. I like having two, just in case. When trying to find a reliable locksmith, many that I called, they never got back to me. These were mobile locksmiths. I called the dealership but they were about $100 more than the prices I was quoted by the mobile locksmiths AND they told me it would take about 2.5 to 3 hours to cut and program! On Baldino's website they had 3 options for my fob. Naturally I chose the least expensive. Why pay double when you don't have to? They do ask for your VIN number so you are assured that you are ordering the right key. Which is reassuring when spending this amount of money for a key. I ordered the key online and when it arrived at the store, they gave me a call and I was able to come in the same day and I was out of there in 20 minutes! Great job! If you need a car fob DON'T go to the dealership. Go to a locksmith and the great thing about this place is that they have various locations. read more

I don't think I could be more angry with a business as I was today... Although, I have to admit, I didn't get past the receptionist. The phone is answered simply "Baldino's". Not "can I help you", or at least let me know I have the right place. Sounded like a Pizza joint. Explained my problem to this bored hostile voice (and she just sounded so "Baltimore")... and all she says is... "It'll cost $220.00 for us just to look." What I needed was my recently deceased mother's rolltop desk unlocked as the key was lost. A tricky job, I know, but she didn't have to give attitude. I was referred by this place by the management of Mercy Ridge but I'll spread the word to the other residents and fast. A nice local business that you can tell really cares about their craft and excellent customer service. I had to get a duplicate car key and really didn't want to go to the dealer because I knew I would be overcharged. They explained all my options (key to unlock, key to unlock and drive, key that can do all that plus more), how they worked, and how to save money. They were able to take care of my lock and key needs in a timely manner, but I was originally quoted $35, when I came back I was charged $42.52. They claimed it was because they cut me a replacement key and repaired the lock; but when he quoted me the original price he told me that he would cut me a new working key to go with it. $7.50 to cut a replacement key that Ace Hardware was able to cut for $2.50 is just crazy, especially when the job was quoted as a whole at one price, then I was taken advantage of when I went to pick it up. read more

We needed to change and re-key all the locks in our house. This was the first time I had done this. My husband was out of town and my best friend was visiting. We decided that we were up to the job. After installing a new front door lock and deadbolt we took out the cylinders on the rest of the doors and brought them to Baldino's to be re- keyed. The gentleman who helped us was very nice and took care of us right away (while we enjoyed a FroYo at TCBY next door!) We did have one pesky old screen lock that was difficult to reinstall once we got home. First it got stuck and we had to disassemble the innards of the lock in order to get it out. We went back to Baldino's with all the pieces and screws in a little bag. I had actually broken a piece inside the lock trying to dislodge it. Again, the gentleman was great, fixed it for us- no charge- and showed us what to do to get it in correctly. This time we got it in right, but the lock would not lock. Once more, off to our helpful locksmith. By now my friend had left (and my husband due home soon). I explained what I had done, step by step and the mystery was solved! It turned out that the lock had originally been installed upside down! Who would have guessed! So I went back home and turned the cylinder upside down. It worked! What a sense of accomplishment! Seriously, the gentleman at Baldino's couldn't have been more helpful and courteous. He was patient and respectful, never making us feel like we had no business changing all the locks in the house! A bit difficult to get thru the receptionist. Had to send a picture of my handle and lock and had to call back twice to learn it was going to take over a week to order it. Hmm Front door unlocked. I dont think so. So I purchased a Kwik Set lock and handle. My repairman arrived in a timely fashion and was quite pleasant and knowledgeable. However be prepared for sticker shock. Roughly 15 minutes to install new handle and lock and rekey lock. $ 270 later... Certainly a lot more than I expected. $50 + just to rekey lock. Get prices first read more

Baldino's might be able to do simple stuff, but I would not recommend them if you need a knowledgeable locksmith. I used this company to replace my front door lock and it failed within a few years. I just hired a true professional locksmith (Kwik-Key Locksmiths) who noted the junk quality of the lock this company installed. He also fixed the alignment problem left by the previous installation. It is worth a few more bucks to hire a true trade craft professional. You truly get what you pay for. read more

They were initially difficult to communicate with as I thought they were a local (Timonium MD) firm. But having 17 locations and a central dispatch in Virginia made it confusing as where and when they were coming. I never got the 30 minutes notice of the arrival. But then...
