Food was good, but the service was terrible. My pop was gone, I moved the glass to the edge of the table - hint! And she still didn't refill it. She did not come back and check on us at all. We typically tip really good, but crappy service gets a crap tip. Hopefully she realizes that a sunny attitude and a smile get you tips. Refills on the soda, does too! read more

My fiance and I live at the apartment complex down the road on Baldwin Road from the Baldwin Cafe. He was born and raised in this area, Lake Orion, where his family loves going to this restaurant and he brought me to it and I fell in love. It's a small diner where there are booths to one side then a counter-top swivel-stool eating bar facing the open kitchen. You can watch you food being made. The food is so good! I am a breakfast person so I usually get an omelet even if it's dinner time! My favorite is their Greek omelet and they give you a choice of hash browns or cottage cheese on the side. They also have tzatziki sauce to put on your Greek omelet and it tastes delicious!! Other times I have gotten their pita sandwiches and my fiance usually gets something of the burger patty variety. He loves hamburgers and thinks Baldwin Cafe has one of the best hamburgers! Days like today with the snow we will get carry out. They don't take forever to make food and food never looks rushed or sloppy. They NEVER forget anything when you order carryout! We would also go dine in some days. Everyone is always friendly and in a good mood despite them being busy almost every time we go in to sit and eat. Some days we would walk in and get our booth or seats then a whole crowd will be in after us and many of the workers know their patrons by name. They know my fiance more than me. I don't mind if I'm not known by name, as long as we are always treated courteous and eventually I'm sure a relationship would be built. Until then I'm enjoying their food on days I don't want to cook anything so I am thankful that Baldwin Cafe is very quick drive and in the summer, a 10 minute walk. read more

Baldwin Cafe is a restaurant all towns need. The wait staff treats you like they have known you forever. The food is excellent, especially their breakfast menu. Breakfast special is fantastic. 2.99 for 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, 2 sausage links or bacon strips, and hash browns. Holy smokes! I could eat here everyday for that price. Food is like waffle house...all made on the flat top, Short order style. It's made to order and I love the small town ambiance with the old man "regulars" that know everyone's names. I went on a Thursday at 9am and there was only one table available. Fast turnover is key here and works great! I will definitely be coming back. Pretty standard diner/coney island type of menu. I wanted to give 3.5 stars felt bad about giving 3 so gave 4. German tomato soup was more like chili I've had it before when it was more like tomato soup. Weirdest thing was they had mozzarella sticks and no marinara sauce. This is the type of place where they know you by name, ask if you want the "usual" as they remember your typical order, and just, in general, make it a comfortable friendly experience. My Wife and I have finally found Omelette Heaven (remember the scene in the movie "Defending Your Life ? !!) after we searched various restaurants & diners in Lake Orion, Orion Township, Clarkston, Waterford, Auburn Hills and White Lake. I absolutely believe the Mexican Omelette is the Best of The Best, while my wife loves their Western Omelette! This place is rarely not busy! They always have great & friendly staff especially the owners Dave & Valerie! Their Chili is sooo good as are their coneys!!! AWESOME!!!! Don't miss out or blink as you could miss it. Baldwin Cafe has a fantastic turkey reuben. They grill the bread as well as the turkey. If you are going Saturday or Sunday morning, be sure to get there before 10 am. They fill up fast! They also open at 5 am during the week (not sure about on the weekend) for those who want a great breakfast before work. read more

I've been wanting to come here for awhile but the place is always packed everytime we've stopped by. Finally we got a seat at the bar/counter. A veggie omelette and hashbrowns with rye, delicious. I was jealous of those that had a booth. A carafe of coffee was their prize, no waiting for the waitress to come by to fill your coffee cup. I've eaten here 3 times, and it's been consistently good. What I really like are the prices, very reasonable for breakfast and lunch.
