We had mixed feelings about our visit. The restaurant is clean, modern, and has a nice atmosphere, and our food came out quickly, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, several things we came for weren't available. We specifically stopped in for an açaí bowl, only to find out they're discontinuing it. Disappointed! They also only carry one beer (Modelo), and they were completely out. We were told it doesn't sell well, so they hadn't ordered more yet. If you enjoy having a beer with brunch, don't count on it. Another disappointment was that they don't offer real maple syrup, something other reviewers have mentioned as well. On the positive side, they do have a few gluten-free options, which we appreciated. Vegan choices, however, were essentially nonexistent. We ended up ordering the gluten-free pancakes with strawberries, the corned beef hash skillet, and mimosas. The food was good, and the service was friendly. Overall, it's a pleasant place with quick service, but they seem to have issues keeping menu items in stock and could improve their selection, especially for vegan diners. read more

We had a fantastic breakfast at The Bread & Yoke! We ordered the Traditional Benedict and Western Omelette, and both were absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. Even the fresh fruit stood out. It was fresh, beautifully cut, and nicely presented. Everything was excellent from start to finish. We would absolutely recommend The Bread & Yoke and will definitely be back the next time we are in town!! read more

Came on a Saturday around brunch time and this place was super packed! The wait ahead option is pretty cool because you can join the waitlist and have a live update to see where you are in line. We were running errands in the area and found this to be helpful however, once we got there it still seemed like we had a long wait! So we got lucky and snagged two seats at the bar. The food was pretty good, I ordered the Cinnamon Swirl French toast and I love the fact that they make their own bread fresh daily! The ambiance was a bit chaotic dining in wise but I'm happy we got seated at the bar, it felt more comfortable than squeezing into the dining area. Great find. We aren't from the area & we were looking for a good breakfast place. The reviews for Bread & Yolk sent us their way. It's located in a small strip mall - not too impressive, however, once we got inside, our perception changed. Great looking interior - fresh & clean. A red rose on each table was a nice touch. Service -I'd read it was fast & that absolutely was true! Coffee is strong - how I like it. I had the strawberry crepes - 3 warm delicious crepes with strawberries & whipped cream on top ($11) My husband had an omelette with their really good homemade bread - 1 really thick slice of bread. We went for a brunch on a Monday afternoon and loved everything about the place. There was some wait time but it is quite easy to get in line from their website which we did while starting from home. They have both brunch and lunch menu and it is pretty extensive with lot of vegetarian options. We ordered Vegetarian Rueben, Chicken Strip Pita, Crispy Chicken Sandwich and cheese blintz crepes and all of them were super yummy. The staff were pleasant and attentive and the prices are very reasonable.I would definitely go again. read more

Very popular brunch spot in the Kroger plaza. Plenty parking and Krogers for browsing while you wait. We were told the wait would be 30 mins but waited an hour. When we got seated, food actually came out pretty quickly and food was good. We ordered the pitcher of juice; nothing special other than it being freshly squoze. Service was friendly and efficient. That entry way gets chaotic. Ppl wait right at the door, cluttering it. Was a lot to deal with just to get a table. Space is small but aesthetic is cute. Service is great, food is hot and comes out fast but...It has ZERO flavor. The most bland chicken strip pita I have ever eaten. I asked the waitress "do the cooks not season the chicken?" She replied back with "the only item we season is the potatoes." You're kidding me right? She did take it off the bill which was nice. But due to literally no seasoning, I can't come back. My sister & I went to the Bread and Yolk after another place we stopped at turned out not to be a sit down restaurant. We went there on a Monday around noon and did not have to wait at all. We both ordered iced tea, which was so fresh that I requested a glass of ice since the ice in the original glass had melted. I ordered the Rise and Shine. They cooked the eggs to my liking, and I loved that there was a choice of bacon, sausage links or patties. (I had the patties.) I don't know what they did to the French toast, but it was SOOO good. I only ate half of my brunch, so I was able to enjoy it another day. My sister had the waffle omelette. She was a little unsure of how an omelette would taste inside of a waffle, and whether or not she should eat it all together, but she did, and she loved it! This restaurant is pretty far from where we live (we had an appointment not too far away), but I just might make a trip out there again to try something else -- perhaps the lemon poppyseed or cinnamon roll pancakes! read more

We ate breakfast here for several years and would rate it as 5 star. And then they changed their bacon to a more thick cut style. My question is how can the new bacon be both nearly raw and yet burned? After 2 subsequent visits found the bacon to be inedible, we gave up on the restaurant. read more

The food was soooo good. I don't usually eat out but I'd definitely go there again for brunch it was delicious. I usually get sick after eating breakfast out but I didn't whatsoever after eating here, in fact I felt full and satisfied for the rest of the day. The service was great, the waitresses who served us were so kind and helpful and checked in with us often if we needed anything. I tipped extra for this. The ambiance of the restaurant was very familial and casual. Everyone who was there was chatting it up over some food and when we went around 12 it was pretty crowded but it didn't bother me. We were seated immediately and also a little further off from where most of the hubbub was. I didn't mind the noise it almost made it feel more cozy and comfortable. The restaurant was packed at 12 pm on a Friday. Our wait time we were quoted was off by 35 minutes. The hostess continued to update us about the table we were waiting on : "they have one piece of bacon left". Strange. Our waitress may have been busy, but she was inattentive. Rarely visited our table. I ordered a skillet. It was just okay and unfortunately found a hair in my meal. The homemade bread and jam was good. The restaurant is on the small side which may explain the wait. read more

I'm bummed to say that Bread and Yolk has really gone downhill. My recent visit was a letdown in several ways. The chicken sandwich I ordered was way overcooked and hard as a rock. The country omelette tasted like it was cooked in a dirty skillet, with grease running down the plate. Our server dropped off the food and never returned. We were missing silverware and couldn't even address it because there was no follow-up after the meals were delivered. When we finally got the bill and raised our concerns, the server argued with us, saying we should have mentioned it earlier. It's hard to mention anything when there's no follow-up. Please don't argue or lecture me as a customer especially when you're about 17 years old. The open-air theme is nice, but the flies are coming in, which is another downside. The staff seemed very young, so your experience might vary. Despite this, I've had very good experiences here in the past, and the place was packed, so hopefully, this was just a one-off bad experience. read more

We picked this place based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. We live a little north of the Grand Rapids area but come down this way a couple times a month, and always stop on our way home. Everything we've had has been great and there are so many options. The service has always been wonderful and we have always had a good experience.
