The top right garage door wheel popped off the track when the door hit a ladder while opening (oops). Called Baldwin, they answered on the first call, set the appointment for the next morning, and showed up on time. Angel was polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. He had the wheel back in its track in a matter of minutes. He then proceeded to lube the chain, wheels, springs, and hinges. He demonstrated that everything was working smoothly (and quietly). I called because I was having a problem with my garage door opener. I had spoken to another repair company earlier who said it sounded like my opener was on the fritz and would need to be replaced at a cost of $550. He gave us a reasonable and straightforward estimate of the work, and we agreed for him to come back tomorrow. Great experience and I would recommend Jake to anyone. My husband and I recently bought a house in Ventura County and the garage doors were totally shot. He talked us out of replacing the wood garage doors and suggested we just get them painted instead as he thought there was probably 20 years of life left in them. He then quoted us a very reasonable amount for three new good quality motors, three new springs (he said one didn't need replacing but we opted to have them all done at the same time while we were at it) and rollers/hardware to improve the old, existing hardware to be more effective and more quiet. I made an appointment with Jake to come to my home to look at my driveway & make a bid for a powered sliding gate. The entrance is on a curve & with a slope so there is a challenge. Jake seemed to have trouble explaining how he would install the gate. I asked about pilasters & he said that he doesn't do pilasters which concerned me since many nicer gates include pilasters. Lastly, Jake said he was busy the following week but would get back to me the 2nd week. He didn't! So I finally called him back. He said he was in the middle of a job & would then call. He hasn't. Tremendous service again by Jake. Second time I used him. Apparently my usual garage door guy wasn't properly greasing my tracks or chain drive whenever he would come by to check out any issues on both of my openers. Jake explained why I was having issues and corrected them. My carriage shredded on my track because it was basically metal on metal. Who knew that part of the system required grease? Then he looked at my springs overhead and said "there's part of your problem. Those are the wrong type of springs". After taking care of the several issues I had with both openers, all of which the other guy should have caught (seeing as how he installed the incorrect springs), Jake went back to the gate opener on my alley and gave me a tutorial on taking care of that system and chain as well. Plus he programmed two new remotes on the spot. Needless to say, I erased my former technician's name from my contacts. It's Jake and only Jake from now on.
