I rarely write reviews like this because most businesses I deal with don't stand out like this one. I recently had William Baldwin install a carburetor he rebuilt on a ford van I'm restoring. From the first phone conversation I had with him I figured he was an "old school" guy (even though he was younger than I had thought when I did met him) When I say old school I mean he has a real work ethic (he takes personal pride in his craft, does what he says he'll do and does it right) and genuinely cares whether his customer is satisfied with the work he does, which is rare these days. How do I know this--well, he came all the way from Thomasville to Durham, installed that carb in my van in the driveway, tuned it and took the time to educate me while he was working. The van was running perfectly when he left. The next day I had some trouble (not due to his work but because I didn't clean the gas tank well enough prior to reinstallation), I called him, he answered immediately , told me to get some tools and walked me through the process of troubleshooting. He knew exactly what and where the problem was and I had it fixed in minutes. When I initially called him to explain the problem he offered to come to Durham "right now" to fix it ---that, folks is "old school" customer service you just don't see anymore. He has since called a couple more times just to make sure all was good and I was happy with the outcome--hell yes !. I plan to do a few more performance upgrades to this van in the near future (he also took the time to advise me about those) and you know who I'll be taking it to for that--you bet ! If you are reading this review and considering getting any auto performance work done, do yourself a big favor and give Baldwin Performance a call FIRST (I've done the homework for you already, believe me !) --you'll be very happy you did. I made the mistake of sending Baldwin my 440 six pack carbs to get restored with a check for $1500 which he cashed immediately back in Feb 2025. At the time he had several reviews on Facebook that were good, which I now doubt were real. I have been patient and cordial with Mr. Baldwin but after being lied to so many times and having to buy more carbs so I can drive my car, that is over. Every single bad thing you read from the tons of negative reviews are ALL TRUE. I have experienced all of them. Now he no longer responds to texts or phone calls. I have to wonder if is he is selling our carbs, pocketing our hard earned money and laughing all the way to the bank. I called and filed a report at the Davie Sheriff's office and to no surprise They have had multiple reports filed for the exact same thing. I'm a Christian and always look to the good in people so I can not fathom someone being this deceptive and dishonest with other folks. Please pass this on and make sure everyone knows what they are walking into before he has some other poor guys carbs and money. read more

Update on Baldwin Carb from 9 days ago (April 15, 2025) . Mr Baldwin called immediately after my review of their service (non-service) and assured me he was sending the Holly 390. Nine days have passed and no carb. I E-mailed Josh and no reply. So along with keeping my carb. and my money, it appears they paly games also: Baldwin assured me that he completely understood and was on my side for posting my review of their "service". I would give zero if possible. William Baldwin is a thief and a liar. I sent him my wife's 1969 Camaro carb in 2017. In early 2018 he took my money via PayPal (friends and family) because it conveniently wouldn't work any other way. Said it was done and shipping....never to respond to me again. Bad customer service did a 1050 alky carb never got out the garage sent back and he said he going to put it on someone car .took a week for him to call back in around way he said I do not know what I am doing. he sent back now I .have to fix it . I hope any potential CUSTOMERS read this beforehand so they don't become potential VICTIMS !! (12-1-2023) If I could give a negative review I would give a negative 3 . This guy is an absolute liar and thief. If I would've read his reviews beforehand I would have never wasted my time and money with him. It took him over six months to return my carb, and that was only because I had to repeatedly and repeatedly , and repeatedly call him til he answered . And it was just excuse after excuse . He setups payment thru PayPal "friends and family" so the customer can not dispute it. When I finally got my carb back , which still in itself took way too long after payment was made , it leaked worse than ever before . Come to find out it has multiple cracks he should have caught upon disassembly , or on his so called flow bench when he supposedly flow tests his products before being sent out . So I am out of product and funds. Beware, his other social media sites look awesome, but he is a phony all the way. WILLIAM BALDWIN is a disgrace to the automotive and performance industry . I purchased a carburetor from baldwin performance may 5 2022 ,was told I would have the carburetor in a few weeks he ignores emails and text if I would of read all the negative reviews On the different platforms I would've never Spent a dime With him. My husband sent the Rochester 4bbl carburetor off our 1963 Impala SS convertible to Baldwin Performance on February 3, 2017. On February 8, 2017, our credit card was charged. As of today we still have not received the carburetor. My husband has been told every story conceivable and been promised over and over that the carburetor is being buttoned up and will be shipped to him pronto. Of course, proto evidently means never to Mr. Baldwin. My husband has a buyer for the car but must have the carburetor back to sell the car. This company could cause us to lose the sale of the car which is many thousands of dollars! My husband is considering driving to Thomasville, NC, and picking up his carburetor. read more

After some miss communication and trouble getting parts for my DZ carb. William sent it to me in like new restored condition. I have now sent another one and plan on doing all of my business with Baldwin Perfomance. read more
