I got to sample some Balic wines at a street fair a while ago and enjoyed it so much that I knew I would have to visit the winery at some point. My SO and I stopped at Balic while we were in the area and the winery is a bit small, but very nice. We were early, so we had time to chat with the owner for a while before people started showing up. We got to sample every wine and ended up leaving with a case for an extremely reasonable price. You cannot buy Balic in stores, but you may be lucky finding a restaurant that carries them exclusively. This is a must while travelling south, also, try the blackberry wine because it is exquisite. read more

MAYS LANDING: not far from the Shore Points of Ocean City and Atlantic City is Balic Winery Inc., a peaceful vineyard right on Route 40. We met Bojan, the owner, at Super Pet Expo in 2022 and 2023 and were impressed with their huge selection of wines and free samples! He is very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. We ended up going home with a case and knew we had to visit their property soon. We finally made it! They are one of the largest winegrowers in the state, also one of the oldest, and they are dog friendly! They love dogs and if you are lucky, you can meet the winery dog, Mariah! In general, dogs must be leashed in all areas. They have over 25 wines and offer a wide range from red to white, dry to sweet, and some fun berries and flavors thrown in there. There is an indoor tasting room, outdoor picnic tables, a large deck, and the vineyard to spend some time. Bring your own food and spend a relaxing day with the pup. read more

We were in the area, had some time, and decided to taste some wine. The winery's tasting room was very nicely appointed along with information about the wines and of course prices for bottles or cases. I got the impression that the "winetender" didn't really want to give out samples but it was a Saturday and there were people at the bar clamoring for a taste but he had no choice but to serve them. Apparently someone at the bar started shouting at the winetender and a verbal altercation ensued. Meanwhile a manager came in and entered the fray saying, "This isn't a 'tasteria'"and other choice invectives. What I determined was that these people were trying too much wine and not buying anything. After the argument the whole place got quiet and there was a definite negative vibe in the room. By the way the wine actually isn't bad and we took some home with us but exited as soon as we could. read more

The wines here are delicious, everyone who works here is super friendly and knowledgeable, but this definitely isn't a place to hang out. On the upside: As mentioned, the people here are amazingly kind and knowledgeable about their wines. All of the tastings are free and they're super nice about letting you try anything and everything. If you tell them what you like, they'll recommend you great wines that suit your taste. And while the wines here are fruity and delicious, they are also quite cheap! (On average, bottles were around $13-$15). On the downside: Nobody wears a mask inside. When I first arrived with my family, another large group was also inside - none of them were wearing masks either. They have outdoor seating that overlooks the vineyard, which is quite beautiful. But the outdoor seating area is full of flies and makes the time there not as enjoyable as it could be. Perhaps they have just started the outdoor seating, but the chairs were quite dusty and there were a lot of cobwebs on the patio as well. Overall, I'd come here to purchase wines as they are so tasty (I loved the red velvet and the huckleberry. Cab was also pretty tasty for the price) but I would much rather take it to-go to enjoy elsewhere. read more

Loved our visit to Balic Winery! I'm not much of a drinker, but I love Balic wine. They have a large variety including many different fruity wines. My favorites are the huckleberry, pomegranate, pumpkin, and cranberry. They are so tastey, tart, and healthy too! They have a little pamphlets that explain the health benefits of each of their wines. They also have more traditional wines for the average wine drinker, so they are great for groups as well. We started off up front with their daily free wine tasting and then we enjoyed a bottle outside with some snacks. I love how they encourage you to bring your own food and they even offer recommendations for local spots that deliver. We took a walk around the winery and it's so peaceful and private. It's not too far from Atlantic City, so you can visit both if you're passing the area. They have a discount if you buy 12 bottles. Make sure to take some bottles to go as well! read more

Friendly approachable wine tasting for free. You really can't ask for a more pleasant experience. A large selection of fruity sweet wines. Our personal standouts were huckleberry, black aronia berry, and raspberry. Pumpkin was light and delicate, and can be served warm with cinnamon. There's a 15% case discount, which the owners are kind enough to apply even if you exceed 12 bottles. We bought 16 this trip (12 the last time) and for $205 all-in, were extremely satisfied. If you're lucky, you scan say hi to Mariah, their lovely pup. She was lounging in the gazebo when we stopped by on Thursday afternoon. read more

I thought I left a review but apparently I wanted to keep this one to myself. This winery has been a favorite and must stop enroute to AC for over 10 years now. It is no wonder they have been in business over 50 years! When I was younger the fruity pomegranate and blueberry wines were my must haves. Now I go for the nutty Almanaque. **Push a green bean Almondine over the edge of awesomeness with a splash of this. The cream sherry is another perfect cooking wine! A very famous bam shelf uses this one! I crack up reading the reviews here, it's about the wine not whether the owner kissed your whiny want something for nothing @rse. But to each his or her own and for the record I've always received warm and gracious hospitality when I visit. read more

I finally visited Balic last weekend. I've past signs for years and am so glad I finally went in. The owner is a cool European guy who is really passionate about his wines. He lets you sample any wine for free. You can't buy a single glass here but you can buy by the bottle or a case and he will ship your case if you are out of town. I really loved the red velvet red wine but the big specialty here are the fruit wines. They aren't a sugary type of sweet like other wineries. You can really taste the flavor of the fruits used to make the wine. No food is sold here but there is seating both indoor and outdoor and you're welcome to bring your own food in. I can't say enough great things about this winery! The owners are so nice and sociable, and they're willing to spend time helping you figure out what suits your taste. I am a big red wine drinker and typically I am disappointed with the reds that wineries have to offer, but ALL of the red wines here are amazing. I especially loved the Alexander the Great and the Country Red. The wines range from dry red all the way to fruity and bubbly, so there's something for everyone. Others in our group really liked the Cabernet, the Cream White and the Strawberry Spritzer. And at a reasonable price of about $13-$17 a bottle, you can buy quite a few and not break the bank. The winery has both an inside air-conditioned area as well as a back patio with a beautiful mural on one side and the vines on the other. The winery is bring your own food and has such a relaxed and nice vibe to it, you can easily spend an afternoon enjoying yourself here. We just stumbled upon this winery earlier this summer, but it's surely our new favorite and we can't wait to go back! read more

I have been a customer for over 20 years. Was a frequent traveler to Atlantic City and always stopped at Balic usually on my way back to Maryland. Ownership has always been cordial and pleasant and remember those of us who are frequent customers. I have also ordered online and via phone. My favorite wines include the Blueberry, Pomergranate, Strawberry Spritzer, and Napoleon. It is a great winery with great people and great environment. Really a disgrace to wineries not only due to the sub par quality, but because of the over blown prices (you should never see a $16 tag on any NJ vino) but then again they do ship ingredients from other regions here. Unfortunately this is a region that doesn't have the climate or soil to support promising grape vines and this place is a clear example of the ca ca posing vineyards in our fine state they we have no choice, but to except. You could take that trip to Virginia or west coast or better yet pile in the car/mini van and head to the finger lakes for ice wine. It's true that any wine tasting event given ample amount BOOM will be a good time, hell I'm a living testament to quantity but compare to western regions NJ just doesn't compete and I'm really sorry to say this, but it's the truth. I've sampled almost all NJ vineyards and found Balic to be the least satisfying of the unfortunate group. Does this mean all hope is gone for NJ wine, no perhaps expectations may need to coincide with reality or pray to the gods of vino to help deliver a grape or grape combo that works here. read more

With so many selections, there is something for everyone. They have drys, sweets, seasonal, sparkling, and even champagne. And the best part of our visit is visiting with the owners. The reason why this review is a three stars was because the service wasn't too friendly and the cleanness was questionable...the wine were great!!! I brought the blueberry and Pomegranate, it was the best. The place had dead flies on the counter, next to open crackers that customers probably consumed. It looked like the fly died from over eating. Came here with a bachelorette party, as a part of a scheduled tour...they knew we were coming. The person doing the tasting was INCREDIBLY rude to us. As soon as we came in, we were told that we needed to whisper, because we were too loud. No one was screaming or yelling, we were talking, as a group of girls. We asked her to describe the wine we were tasting, and she literally put her hand in my face and told us to wait, she would be back to "deal with us". She made several comments about how there were too many of us. Again, they knew we were coming. It was made abundantly clear that we were not welcome, which is a shame, because all of us were looking to buy bottles of wine. read more

We found this place quite by accident on the way home from Atlantic city. I know that sounds strange but I had seafood on my mind and was on a mission. I looked up seafood on my GPS and passed this place...so we stopped. Sounded like fun. We tasted a few types of wines, bought a few and were on our way. They have a beautiful golden retriever that roams the property, on-site owners who are doing the wine tasting, complimentary cheese and chocolate covered pretzels. The tasting is free and they have about 15 different kinds of wine. I really liked Alexander The Great and their Pino Grigio/Sauvignon Blanc blend. I don't know about the winery itself - but based off the tent at Lenape lake wine festival I would never go or do business unfortunately. Please choose wisely who you have be the face of your business - the lady was horrible. A group of girls asked if they could try all the wines and instead of kindly saying no - she YELLED at them! She said "NO , are you kidding? I have all these people to serve I can't be having you taste all the wine" which I get but Jesus Christ she was sooooooo mean about it. She turned around, mocked the girls and laughed about it. So AKWARD. Not to mention she wasn't even pouring or helping with the wine lol.. what a shame read more

We are on town for a bridal shower, party of 5. We called in advance and asked what was the limits on how many wines we can taste. The man says you can taste as many as you like and a party of 5 is great. When we got there, we were told we cant not taste all the wines. We were shoved out of the counter so the two old gentleman can service the white people in back of us. They were served more than 5 drinks each. We got ignored and made fun of because we asked for a wine they didn't sell.(tootsie roll flavor). All five of us were prepared to spend more than 50 -100 a piece. Now here goes the older white gentleman start arguing with one lady in our party because we felt treated as if we did something wrong. Some of the ladies still bought a few bottles and went outside so we can open and enjoy the wine. So I walked back in got the glass I used for tasting, This white man accused me of stealing a 25 cent glass. When I told him I'm using the glass because we BOUGHT BOTTLES of wine and were still going to taste the one we bought, he again started yelling and accusing me of stealing in front of all the other white customers he treated with more respect and dignity than me being of Puerto Rican and my friends of Black & Asian descent. So basically this is the worst winery if your are of a different color race other than white!! We all probably had more money to spend than any of the white customers. So if you want to be treated like a thief the minute you walk in the door then this is the place to be. Racist people have no business opening a business where they know they will only treat one race better than the other!! read more

The owner, Mr. Boskovic was absolutely amazing ! He was very knowledgeable about his wines. He has a great array from dry to sweet. Whites and reds. I'm a dry wine drinker and loved his "Alexander the great (red)" and "Napolean Bonaparte (white)". Even having a dry palet, his huckleberry and Aronia berry were out of this world (both filled with antioxidants). No charge for tastings. We brought our dog with us and he was very welcoming. Even gave my dog, dog food while we tasted our wines. Highly recommend dropping by here and tasting some wine. Discounts on cases as well !! read more

The worse service I have ever received at a winery. On our return trip from Atlantic City, we decided to stop there. I wish we would have saved the gas. The lady that served us was completely rude. We asked about the tasting and she just handed us a wine list and looked at us. We tried to get her to explain the tasting. Her response was that they don't do free tastings and you can only taste if you buy. We explained we never had the wine to even know if we would purchase any. She just looked at us. My husband said we don't really like fruit wines. She responded by telling us that grapes were fruit. We left the business without doing a tasting or purchasing anything. read more

Very strange odor inside the tasting room. They give free tastings, but really hustle you out. I felt like i was irritating the pourer by asking to taste more than one. Wine prices are on par with other wineries in the area. A lot of fruit wines, not many dry wines. I wouldnt come back. read more
