The Ball and Que sign out front, Georgetown
    Bruce K.

Super local breakfast this morning in this place that was filling up with people who live here in Georgetown. I an inexpensive breakfast, served by a friendly young lady with a smile. Excellent coffee, eggs, corned beef hash and toast. Perfect. And after breakfast, this was my office for an hour or two until the Sun came up. No bother and it was nice to see the flow of folks coming in, greeting their neighbors and eating their breakfast. [Review 19326 overall - 921 in South Carolina - 296 of 2023.]

    Fried chicken club with tots
    Sam T.

It's late on a weeknight and I'm driving through Georgetown. A red neon "RESTAURANT OPEN" sign gets my attention and I say to myself "Self, an open restaurant, just what I need." I bounce over the curb to get to the weird parking spot, leaving the exit for future me to worry about, present me is ready to eat. I walk in and it's a sleepy feeling diner with a large bar at the front and a pretty large dining area. I hop up to the bar and take a seat to be quickly greeted. I have no idea what they're known for so I put my faith and future in the waitresses hands. The suggestion is a fried chicken club, which I obviously oblige. Not something I'd order but we're on an adventure. As someone very close to me once said, "tots are tots are tots", and she was right. But the club was pretty good. About $15 for dinner. I'd say it was priced fairly. I'm not familiar with the culinary scene of the area, but this place appears to be a safe bet for a safe meal.

Food is ok but the service is not so great and if you are starving you might want to pick up a snack.

Really good home cooked food. Just like the small town diners everyone grew up eating in. Hard working staff.

The management did everything they could to make our order 100%... It even looks like management reached out to that guest. Some people are just miserable ....Get in the island mind set , slow down, have a cocktail and breathe in and out... This isn't a fast food chain!! You owe it to yourself to experience this restaurant.... Because that's exactly what it will be... A great experience. Here's a tip!!! If your Hangry, don't go here.. If you're hungry, Order your food when they take your drink order. You will receive great service and the location and local feel to this place is calming and relaxing!!! We will definitely be back....

We were told that they had run out of fries but could substitute gumbo so we both did. When the bill came, there was a small up charge for the gumbo which, on reflection, we should have questioned. Strangely, we never got a receipt. Update: I spoke with Janie, one of the owners shortly after posting my review. She was very understanding and gracious and appreciative for my feedback and agreed it was a training issue for the servers to provide transparency on pricing, including informing up front the price of specials and any up charges as well as provide receipts. I'll try to stop in to properly introduce myself when next in the area.

Here's a fun, original review you can post for Buzz's Roost:…read more If you're driving from Charleston to Myrtle Beach after work, do yourself a favor and skip the predictable Taco Bell drive-thru. Instead, take a scenic detour to Georgetown's charming Front Street and Riverwalk, where dinner feels like the start of a mini vacation. We pulled into Buzz's Roost around 8 p.m. on a cool, damp Friday night in May, and the New England clam chowder was exactly what the doctor ordered. Warm, creamy, and comforting, it melted away the stress of the workweek with the very first spoonful. Our blackened fresh fish sandwiches were outstanding. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the seasoning had just the right kick to remind you that simple food can still be unforgettable. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. With its exposed brick interior and waterfront setting, Buzz's Roost feels like a cozy warehouse transformed into a laid-back riverfront hangout. Friendly service made us feel right at home, and the skeeball and foosball tables were tempting enough that we're already planning a return visit. I can easily picture coming back on a warm summer evening--or even during football season--to soak in the Riverwalk views, enjoy a great meal, and unwind. They also brew their own beer, which is a nice touch. My only wish is that they offered a non-alcoholic beer on draft for those of us making the road trip and keeping it light. Buzz's Roost is more than just a restaurant stop--it's a reminder that sometimes the best part of the journey is pulling over and discovering a place you can't wait to revisit.
