However, I don't feel I should change the number of stars on my rating. as I am still out the money l had to pay for the failed bone graft which could have been avoided if a more experienced doctor had done it. And I have been without a useable front tooth for over a year. His apology did not give my money back or time back. I went in for a routine cleaning, but the dentist insisted on taking X-rays before even looking at my teeth. It honestly felt like they were more focused on upselling than actually helping me. I was told I couldn't get a cleaning unless I agreed to the X-rays, even though I just wanted a basic checkup. It's my body and my choice--I get that X-rays may be necessary if there's an issue, but why force them when there's no reason to believe anything's wrong? read more

I have been coming to this office since it was run by Dr. Baldwin, and she helped me recover my oral health after years of issues and trauma. I have since moved away from the area, but I have stayed with this office since I have never had such wonderful care, and Dr. Tuck is continuing that standard. I recently came in early for a crown after a night with little sleep and some nausea and as soon as I sat down, he could tell I wasn't quite well. I tried to be cheerful and brace myself, since that's what I've always done, but he had a chat with me and gave me the option to cancel and reschedule. I really struggled w/the decision, but in the end decided to reschedule. He didn't charge me for cancellation and when I came back he did the crown and there was zero pain during or after. He did a better job of taking care of me than I was able to! It is rare the doctor that will place a patient's wellbeing over procedure. I will forever be grateful and I can't recommend him enough. I had a unique and fantastic experience with Dr. Tuck. I am new to the bay and came to Dr. Tuck on a dental emergency due to my temporary implant/crown coming loose (this work had already been started and was being completed in LA by a different doctor). Long story: Dr. Tuck found that gum tissue had grown around the implant and therefore the temp crown was not fitting back in properly and becoming lose. He called a couple of periodontist and tried to schedule immediate appointments for me to no avail. He even called my doctor in LA since my implant work was so close to completion and did not want to interfere with the process. Ultimately, Dr. Tuck carefully, effectively and gently was able to place the temp crown back successfully. I have never experienced such a personable and caring doctor. read more

I have been going to this dental office for years (under Sarah Baldwin) and always considered this the best dental practice I had ever gone to. This is an office seemingly run by MBA and attorney types. The office has chic interior decoration and a team of young receptionists. We all know who actually paid for those. Up until late 2023, they were still charging an extra $10 infection control fee per visit. I do not know of any other medical offices that charge such a fee. Did they not sanitize the equipment, not wear masks, and not clean the office prior to coming up with this money grabbing fee? A patient, more aptly a customer, has to sign a ton of legalese filled documents for a simple filling, releasing the dentist of any liabilities. Many of the terms and language in the document are only fully understood by an attorney or medical staff. Again, like the $10 infection control fee, pretty unusual. The doctor is always in a rush, friendly towards some 'customers', and not so others for whatever reason. They make most crowns in their office, which is fast and cost saving for them. They charge the same amount as professional dental lab, but without the benefit of dedicated, experienced, artistic and professional color matching done in a dental lab. They seem to see customers as wallets and potential plaintiffs. As things are in today's society, image is everything. They seem to be doing good business because of the chic office decor, large staff body, an upper-crust feel, and a Piedmont address. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Tuck for decades. As a youth I had poor oral hygiene which caused massive cavities and landed me in a dentist chair for major fillings in high school. That dentist was horrible and I had a fear of the dentist ever since. My sister recommended Dr. Tuck to me years later and I explained upon arrival that I have anxiety about procedures and especially when having to be injected with numbing agent. Dr. Tuck assured me that they would pay attention to my needs and felt confident I wouldn't feel the needle stick before work began. It was true!!!! I never felt the prick. If the procedure was long we would take breaks and the staff were always helpful and pleasant. As a result, I have been a loyal patient ever since. I would travel for hours to receive services and cannot recommend his practice enough. I will add that I smile - a lot- and people always compliment me. This is in large part due to the hygienist great work. As an adult I can take pride in my smile and that is because Dr. Tuck prides himself in working with only the best. Absolute scam artist. Went in for an exam and after 15 min of looking at my teeth and taking photos he tells me I have numerous cavities everywhere, but wouldn't give me an exact number. Just kept pointing to the photos to show me every dark spot (which I thought looked like shadows), saying there's decay here, here, here...I have had two cavities my entire life, and was last at the dentist a year ago. I found it hard to believe I'd developed eight+ in a year. I trusted my instincts and went to another dentist who confirmed my suspicions - Tuck was just using scare tactics and possibly altering the lighting in the photos (some of the spots were actually just coffee stains!) to make a dollar. There was good and then there was bad. The dental hygienists (Kimmy) that took my X-rays, and did a light cleaning (because my teeth were sensitive and needed lots of work) and the dentist I spoke to were really great. The problem was when I called to make appointment I spent 15 plus minutes giving all my insurance information to person who set me up on the system. When I got to appointment woman said they did not have the information so I had to look it all up and provide it all again. Then I had to provide it a 3rd time on the tablet intake sheet they had me fill out. Once out of exam they told me that my benefits don't start for a year and I pulled up my information AGAIN and it said right there that it started on the first of the month. The woman gave me 2 quotes, one for benefits starting in a year, basically full price, and one if benefits had started on the first. Woman at desk said she would call insurance company to check so we scheduled 2 additional appointments. I called back before 5pm and another woman (MJ) told me I should call insurance company and if I cancelled the 2 appointments for the deep cleaning I wouldn't get another appointment until April. She could put me on a waiting list but no guarantee. I told her to forget everything and cancel all appointments and I would go somewhere else. read more
