My daughter got her master's degree in June. I rushed to Ballard Blossom on the eve of the event to get a flower arrangement. The store was closing and I picked the most beautiful arrangement I saw. It was one created by a talented young man who worked for you. The arrangement was tastefully designed with warm tones and symmetry. It was truly a reflection of joy. I learn today that you fired that employee, via text, mind you. It is quite sad and disturbing that you fired such a talented person, and in such a way. It is particularly troubling that you would fire a black, gay employee to boot. There is no place in Seattle or anywhere else for bigotry and racism. I've used Ballard Blossom for 40 years. Sometimes they're great and sometimes I feel a bit ripped off. It varies considerably. Ordered 3 arrangements for a funeral and they were all nice but the quality varied a lot. One was great, one was good and one was less than expected. The top one and the worst one were the same arrangement with some minor substitutions. I will continue to use them but their quality could use a critical look by management. This is not the first instance of inconsistencies but it was the most obvious. I know you can do better Ballard Blossom because sometimes you do. read more

This company has exceed my expectations in floral delivery and customer service. If my experience ( which ' I'll detail next ) is what they do daily for every customer , they got my business forever. I learned my niece had a horrific accident and was flown to harborview medical center * in Seattle Washington. I began to check yelp for local florist and many populated the search . I came across " Ballard blossom " .searched the website viewing arrangements ,found one and called to see if they served the area ' I was told they could accommodate the order and delivery, was also , told that they would verify with the hospital before delivery and I would recieve a notification of the order going out and once delivered.about 20 minutes after placing the order I got a phone from them explaining that they contacted the hospital and currently my niece could not have flowers in her room and that they would recheck the next day with the hospital to see if things have changed . Being in southern cali ' I had to trust this would happen , the next day , I got another call and they stated the delivery was going to happen , but before the delivery was sent " my niece was released from the hospital . I get a phone call that aftetnoon , from Ballard blossom * that they contacted the hospital and had found my niece was released and did I have a secondary address . I provided the address and was resured that after mothers day deliverys my order would be taken to the new address . Well I got that shipping and receiving notification this afternoon . No other florist I've used has gone to the trouble to provide excellent customer interaction. I ordered flowers for delivery to my hotel. I was going to a dinner and wanted to have a beautiful gift for the host. What was at the hotel was a very stiff sparse arrangement mostly made up of baby's breath, baby roses and 2 daisies. Looked like I had spent less than $10 rather than $85 I had been charged. i was very embarrassed to show up with what I had. Next day I saw her standing arrangements at Pike Place market for less than quarter of what I paid I gave the florist the benefit of the doubt and wrote them asking how I could've been more specific about what I wanted. No response. Don't know if they saw me as an easy out of town target or just don't care. I would not recommend. read more

The employee was very professional to deal with on the phone, and the delivery was accomplished exactly as I instructed. The order and delivery confirmations by email were a nice touch. The recipient, who I am sure has received a fair number of bouquets in her lifetime, reported to me that the flowers were "the most beautiful and fragrant flowers I have ever received" and "exceptional." I was able to swing by yesterday to take a look for myself, and I will have to say that this is what one calls a truly artisan bouquet. Caveat - this review is based on only one experience. I am giving a three star review because Rebekah screwed up my order, and Rachel provided excellent customer-service after the fact. I met with Rebekah months before my wedding, and we discussed my floral arrangements while she took notes. I showed her images, discussed the plans and details, and I thought we were on the same page. The day before my wedding, we pick up the floral arrangements, and they look nothing like what we had discussed. The "purple" roses were pink. (Rachel clarified later that "lavender roses have a pink tint" so it was plausible that there was a lexicon issue. I asked for literal lavender, though.) They were the wrong shape, had the wrong flowers, and just looked wrong. In an effort not to succumb to bride-zilla cliches, I decided to leave it alone instead of melt down in the store. By the time we got to the hotel to put them in the refrigerator, though, I couldn't stand it. I thought it would get better, but they were just wrong. I called a dear friend and she let me go through her garden. We picked all of the ugly pink roses out of the bouquets and added foraged flora until they started to look like the photos. I called Ballard Blossom on the same day, and a very polite clerk listened and told me someone would get back in touch with me the following week. That did not happen, though, and when I called back a couple weeks later, I was able to speak with Rachel. She spent a great deal of time with me, and I appreciate that. I fully own I did not take my order back for them to fix it, but I didn't trust that they would do a good job. I didn't want to risk another let down. When Sarah and I spoke, and I was able to show her the original image that I showed Rebekah, she refunded my deposit. I do believe that she did right by me and my particular situation. While I do think they did the right thing, I am not confident in the execution of a custom order from BB. I will most likely not return with a custom order but would buy a pre-made arrangement if I happen to be visiting someone in the area. read more

I ordered a wrist corsage for my 6 year old. It was very pretty but it fit my adult wrist. When I ordered the child size corsage, they said they'd leave long ribbons incase she needed to tie it tighter - which did not work. I ended up having to sew the elastic band tighter last minute to keep it from flipping over on her wrist. Also, they didn't cover the medal flower holder with anything - like floral tape. It was scratching my daughters arm up so we put a bandaid on her arm and duct tape over the scarp corners of the medal. All the time I spent fixing it, I'm should've just made one myself and saved the $25. I have been impressed with bouquets from Ballard Blossom in the past, but was disappointed this time. read more

The fact that they were never received hurt the relationship, as the other person never knew I'd made the gesture. I found out by accident yesterday. The kicker - after years of giving them my business, BB wouldn't honor their mistake - they reluctantly honored 50% if it, making me pay for 50% of the replacement flowers. I was informed that it had been my responsibility to ensure that they arrived. Really? I thought that was what I was paying for. I've never posted a review on Yelp before but the experience I had 5 minutes ago deserves one. I went in to buy my lovely wife some flowers for Valentines Day. I picked out an arrangement that, to me, looked great. I paid the full price (wasn't cheap) and arranged to pick it up tomorrow morning. I guess I'm not a keen judge of the health of orchids because the woman I bought them from called me an hour later and informed me that their "plant person" (the resident expert) saw the arrangement and said the orchid didn't look to be in good health. She helped me pick out a new flower over the phone to replace the inconspicuously dying one. The point is, I'm a dude and apparently have no idea what a healthy orchid looks like. Very nice variety of plants, bouquets and gifts. We stopped by here on the way to the hospital to visit a new addition to planet Earth. However, the timing was the day before Valentine's Day, so you can imagine the chaos. The store was packed with men of all ages coming to gather their required token for sex. We snickered, since we never really participated in the sex for chocolate and flowers routine. It's easier just being a hussy! And more fun. But aside from that, we had a fun time looking at the beautiful plants, garden gnomes, and stuffed animals. We settled on a lovely azalea plant that was trained to grow like a tree. It was very reasonably priced. So much so that we splurged on a stuffed toy too. The staff roaming the store was especially friendly and helpful, even in the environment of count down to cupid's curse. However, the poor woman working the register seemed to be completely new to the store and to using a register. We took pity on her since we were fairly sure some of the other clients may not. The flowers have always been vibrant and beautiful no brown anywhere and everything always still alive and fresh. The roses were all turning brown around the top as they opened and the filler in the arrangement was a bunch of cheap greens and flowers that shed very badly as soon as I set the arrangement on the counter. This was a Saturday and by Sunday afternoon my counter top was covered with droppings from the arrangement and the roses were drooping. How disappointing and I did not have the heart to tell my friend who I am sure paid a hefty price for the arrangement. My future mother-in-law ran around Seattle the week of our wedding to look for the perfect flowers for our ceremony. It wasn't your usual wedding ceremony - it was a Thai water ceremony. The MIL wanted flowers to cover the basin of the water bowl, all the while laying on top of a small pedestal. This meant the flowers had to have a particular circumference and the arrangement needed to consist of flowers that could be thrown in a wreath shape. Of all the places she contacted, only Ballard Blossom could envision what she was talking about. On the day of our event, she went to pick it up and could not stop gushing about how perfect it it was! Our ceremony pictures were that much better because of the beautiful arrangement.
