I actually thought this place was a firehouse theme, but it has a more wood coffee house theme with its bookcase and very nice wood tables, I got an ice americano and a mocha and a chocolate crossiant drinks were great the crossiant lack the chocolate it was barely any chocolate, I try to go back on Sunday and it's closed . This cute little cafe on the outskirts of downtown Ballard is a great option. I enjoyed a cold brew, and it wasn't too busy when I was there. They offer a nice selection of sandwiches, including plenty of vegetarian options, along with plant-based milks and a few pastries. I appreciated the calm, quiet music they were playing, and it was nice that they had a small bookshelf for customers to browse. One of my favorite local coffee shops. Located just on the outskirts of proper downtown Ballard gives this place an excellent location. You have street parking as well as parking spots. I usually order through the drive thru, which requires you to drive around to a residential street so be cautious for other drivers in this area. However, give them a try and stay for awhile because the inside is cozy. There's plenty of seating, some cafe style with hard chairs and further in the back you can get some privacy with sofas and comfy chairs. They have quick service and I've never had a bad drink yet. I typically get a vanilla latte, mocha, or my personal fav- the blended latte with a flavor maybe vanilla or caramel. Would be a cute weekend spot to check out before grabbing brunch and maybe checking out the wooden troll at the museum across the street. Then wrap up the day by strolling the Ballard farmers market every Sunday. read more

This is a nice, quiet coffee shop. The atmosphere is calming and great location to read a few chapters of your favorite book, or meet a friend for lunch. Been here twice as of the writing of this review. Both times, the coffee was very good. I prefer cold brew, and so few places accommodate my request for cream and simple syrup. Regular sugar doesn't dissolve well in cold drinks, so I appreciate the small consideration. The people working here are among the most courteous I've encountered at Ballard coffee shops, which says a lot since I've yet to be disappointed. I was setting up at a small table in a corner within easy walking distance of the pick up station, but since it was relatively slow the young woman who took my order brought my drink to me. Another small gesture, but it's still an above and beyond effort. The space is cozy with plenty of tables and chairs. A small backroom has a comfy couch and more chairs for small groups to hang out. Add in the fact that the prices are reasonable, I can't give this place anything less than 5 stars. I have a feeling there will be many return visits in the future. read more

I used to love this place. As a nanny who has the important job of helping raise little people, it was nice to be able to go to a kid friendly coffee house and get some caffeine, interact with other adults and let the kids socialize in a dedicated space with a door that closed to keep sound out and kids in. But now they are saying they have hid the toys and will only take them out on weekends when PARENTS bring in their children. I could understand if they were thinking of revamping the space or changing the use of the back room. But to actually say they hid the toys and wait to see if a nanny would then stop ordering and leave? That's not going to fly. It's a shame because the business that will be lost from the nanny community because of this won't be good. For years, nannies and other childcare providers have visited this shop to support the business, indulge in some great food and coffee and let a few of their kids hang out. Not anymore. read more

This might be our new go to for a semi-quiet coffee with the kids. Went in on a Monday morning, empty but plenty of people through the drive through. We hung out in the family room on their comfy little loveseat while the kids played with the various toys. Coffee was great! The texture of the steamed milk was perfect and staff was nice as well. I never leave reviews but Firehouse is my favorite coffee shop in Seattle! The coffee is yum and the nice and convenient service is even better! The ambiance is very welcoming and the friendly staff make me want to revisit over a lot of other coffee shops in the area which can be kinda intimidating or overcomplicated. If I'm a sweet mood, I get a strawberry white mocha latte which is a must-try latte flavor combination, but they also can make a mean cappuccino! Ballard Firehouse Coffee is a go to if in the area. There's lots of parking which is not common in Ballard. The drive-thru windows are essential, especially when I'm in a rush or the weather is not so good and want to stay in my car. The service is always great and it is a great place to work remotely for a little bit as well. If I am in Seattle, I will make a special trip every morning I can, to enjoy a simple cappuccino with oat milk which tastes gourmet, yet local. My family members will get a mocha, a green tea matcha latte, a regular dark coffee as they use their own grinder, quality beans and it is brewed to pure perfection. The baristas are well trained, professional and very genuinely courteous. The manager is very attentive and kind. The desserts are brought in from a high end bakery daily I feel and I've tried 6-7 of them and they all are scrumptious especially the croissants and scones and breads. The parking lot is clean, safe and there's no shortage of stalls; also, you can always drive thru, which makes it even more convenient when it's chilly. People actually go here on purpose? I would have never gone to this coffeehouse if not for its location. It's right next to the Gymboree like everyone has said meaning it is filled with kids and nannies. (it's rare that the actual parents use the facility next door, well except on weekends) So you aren't going to get any hipster, pseudo-intellectual, I'm-cooler-and-deeper-than-you coffeehouse ambiance. And seriously, why would you expect that in a place like this? This is a coffeehouse you would have to go out of your way to visit. To be quite honest, it easily could have been a Starbucks franchise. Needless to say, some people actually do come here expecting more...don't. The staff are nice, quick and tend to be friendly towards children. All a plus if you are gong to be catering to the crowd next door. From observation, they are quick at the drive through but I personally don't understand drive through gourmet coffee... something wrong about those words being together. And of course they share a parking lot with Gymboree, which is basically insane. Try parking during a class change, I dare you. It's not somewhere you eat lunch. It's not somewhere you sit and write on your blog. It's not somewhere you discuss Plato. It's not somewhere you play with the kid. It's not somewhere you show off your witty t-shirt. Firehouse Coffee is a warm and convenient place to get your caffeine fix if you're in the Ballard area. Though there aren't any fire fighters just hanging around (trust me, I checked!), I still enjoyed my experience here. I'm giving Firehouse Coffee a 3.5 star rating, with half a star bump. Since it's located on Market Street, it's pretty easy to find, and their individual parking lot and drive thru option is a plus. It's definitely a neighborhood cafe, with a cushy fireplace and play area for kids. Due to the size of the furniture and tables, big groups would have some difficulty finding a place to sit if they wanted to stay longer. Some of the side tables are made for just (2) people, so that's why it's best to bring a smaller group, if possible. I ordered my normal Chai Tea latte (of course), and the taste was decent, with enough spice and sweetness to fill up my stomach properly. I'm not a huge fan of too much foam, so I felt the drink was proportioned right. If I was conveniently in Ballard, I would try Firehouse Coffee again. read more

In this review i am reaching to all the moms and dads out there who have suffered when taking their kids with them to coffee shops. This place is amazing, the kids have their own play room with toys, books, tables, sofa. I think it's the only place where i actually sat down enjoyed my cup of cappuccino while my 2 year old played with the toys they have there. Their coffee is really good and their cookies are wow, had to order a second one because i was fighting with my son over who gets the last bite (kidding). I love Ballard and i think this place is a good addition to all the great cafe and restaurants the area has; and its nice to see another kid friendly place. Us parents need these oases! read more

This place has my favorite lavender iced latte. Something about it -- coffee just has the right roast, right lavender syrup in the right ratio. I go to different cafes here in Ballard all the time depending on what hour it is and what drink I want. This is my go-to iced latte place and I think it's way underappreciated! The drive-thru is also super efficient because they have two windows. I feel bad they they've been hidden behind so many constructions projects recently and then have had to deal with this pandemic. Definitely try this place if you live nearby. I used to come here before the pandemic too to write things and they have really good sandwiches/paninis too. read more

Stopped in and was welcomed by a warm cozy fireplace - and I grabbed the cushy seat right next to it. Ordered myself their special eggnog latte and a bacon red pepper breakfast sandwich. With the drive through and one barista making drinks for in-store and drive-through customers it took a little while, but I was sticking around anyway, so no complaints here. My coffee was very tasty and I could certainly taste the eggnog, the breakfast sandwich was ok but was more like something I could make at home. The cashier and barista were friendly. There seem to be a fair amount of regulars, too. There's an incredible children's play area and tons of families were traveling through. By coffee house standards, that's a good amount of space for children's play. I think they would do well to add a couch area or two. Space is also pet-friendly :) read more

Came through here a couple times this weekend and tried their Chai latte. I have never seen the chai mix they use here, it seems all of Seattle uses the same two - one's sweet (Oregon) and one's spicy. Their's is a mix of spicy and sweet and I absolutely love it! I also like that they offer rice milk as well as soy milk. Their pastry/sandwich selection was great, and the two sandwiches we tried were tasty. I will come here when I pass through again, although I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more
