Good selection on paint, key blanks, garden, pet and critter potions, plumbing, household cleaning essentials, lightbulbs of every persuasion, dowels large and small and just across the street in their sister store you can get glass, plexi and screen cut/ fabricated. There is such a good feeling to have a true neighborhood hardware store close by that isn't a big box seller. There is always someone on staff to help and answer nearly all your hardware questions. Granted the selection is smaller comparatively, having the ability to find what you may need quickly is a bigger money-saving. I am extremely happy to see how Baller Hardware has lasted for so long. Cool local hardware. Very well organized. They pretty much have everything you need. I go here often. Staff is all pretty nice except the dude who makes key copies. There's always a sense of attitude from him. Price, I'm not sure how they match up to Home Depot. It might be a bit more considering it's a mom and pops place. Oriah helped me this week with a garden hose repair. I struggled with the repair myself for 2 days and he said "Just bring it in." And within five minutes he'd fixed it with the repair clamp I'd bought there. I had gone into the store three days in a row trying to get the correct connection. Great local store that pretty much always seems to have what I need. Plus, they have saurkraut and pickled beets and goat-milk soap... it's just a fun store with lots of essentials as well! Everyone is easy going and helpful. I've gotten everything from batteries and drain plugs to custom-cut wood for a DIY project where the guy helped me figure out the right wood and dimensions when I kind of had no idea what I was doing. I feel lucky to have such a great hardware store nearby. The employees are always helpful and friendly, even when it's busy. Their prices are similar to big-box stores but the service is SO much better. I also love the annex across the street where they frame art, cut plexiglass and repair window screens. Their work is great, and they're fast and affordable. They just replaced the screens in two of my gigantic sliding patio doors and it took them 48 hours, plus they straightened out some kinks in the frames without my asking. read more

I love Baller Hardware and have been coming here for years. From little pest issues, a dowel I need cut, keys etc. the thing I love most are the staff. I have come in needing a nut, the poor fellow sighs and says 'did you bring the bolt?' Ah no, but without ridicule they help. I have gone in with an old tin of stain I couldn't open and they got the guys on it for no charge! As I drive away, I smile and think F**k you Home Dep*t. I tried to support a local business but instead was gutted back the lack of customer service I experienced. I called ask asked if they had anyone who could advise on painting a terra-cotta pot. They said they have people and tons of supplies. After arriving, I asked two people for help and both gave me two different options. The other just kept selling me one item and I had to stop him and say, I'm looking for information and options. If there someone who can take a moment. He gave me the same option and then asked someone to stand in his spot bc he needed to move forklift... I was dismissed. First associate I spoke to when I arrived that was called to help and stand in said area, and stood one aisle over while my daughter and I stood by the paint desk looking waiting assistance. When I went to the cashier, at the front of the store, they asked where Dave was and then Dave moved from the aisle I saw him in and then sat by the paint mixing counter with his arms folded. While I walked back to the back of the store, Dave just sat there with his arms folded as I didn't ask him for help when I first came to the store and his colleague didn't also ask him to help me. I can't believe this is the service there and most of all, I hope it wasn't because we were the only Black people in the store. Made me go to Home Depot. read more

Has a lot of stuff that you need for most things and even some stuff if you are more experienced. The only thing i think they are really missing is a real garden department (not just a dedicated aisle.) Not a big box store so the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Ok, I have been coming here for years and love this place. HOWEVER, I have been in there 3 times since the pandemic started and all 3 times there have been one or two of the senior employees with their mask under their noses. I love needed to get things and have had to move away from them, get out quickly or just leave if there was a line. I already complained to them once but it just happened again. So I'm not going back until this is over. It's not good for the customers or those older employees . I do worry about them. read more

Always write your Yelp reviews while you're dying from a gas leak... I came in looking for an extremely specific part ("Half inch appliance regulator for gas appliances - female both sides") asked for help and the guy with Ben Franklin-hair knowingly sold me a completely unrelated part. We spoke when I brought it back. This was not a mistake, this was a knowledgable employee having a little strange fun on a customer that doesn't know anything about gas regulators. I'm at a total loss - what the heck, Ben Franklin-Hair? "We actually make most of our money selling lumber to coffin makers?" I will be thinking "Baller Hardware" as I make my 3RD appointment with the gas company and live additional days with the carbon monoxide leak from my unregulated stove. read more

Three cheers for Baller Hardware! Keeping it going through the pandemic with friendly, personal neighborhood service. They will take your order by phone, pay by card, and have it ready for pickup; call when you get there and someone in a mask runs the bag out to your car. No contact! I recently built a garden gate from scratch, talked it through on the phone with Dave who cut the lumber and assembled the hardware for me. All perfect--and I could not have cut the lumber to perfectly equal sizes myself. Strong recommendation--these days I'm looking for stuff to do around the house and yard, and MUCH rather buy from my neighborhood super-service hardware store instead of Home Depot or other online sources. read more
