Went to the restaurant on a Friday immediately after work. It was rather light with diners. However, staff was slightly scrambled, albeit very attentive. Since I was solo, I sat at the bar. I wanted to start with spinach artichoke dip. There was none. So, I ordered carrot and black bean tacos. The tacos were a good backup. Those who lean towards vegetarian would like them. I must say that I was expecting some heat from the jalapeños. For my main dish, I had the shrimp and grits. It took a few swallows before the flavor kicked in. The sauce was tasty, but was maybe a notch above mildly seasoned. I have a feeling that the tomatoes in the recipe added a little acidity. With the addition of spinach, this dish landed in gourmet territory. From what I gather, the restaurant has been under new management for a few years. It feels like they are working out kinks. Honestly, speaking, I wish I had better things to say however, I have to be honest. My reservation was at four. The doors were locked until 415 and that was because I called. I'm not really gonna talk about the ambience, because for me it wasn't there, but that is not the basis of my scoring. The old-fashioned made by our waiter was good, excellent, perfect. We wanted a margarita, but they let us know that they did not have the materials needed to make it. They also did not have the ingredients to make a few starters and entrées on the menu so their limited menu became even more limited. The food, we ordered crabcakes, and a colossal honey glazed shrimp. The crabcakes came out and they were flat, they looked like what was supposed to be one crabcake broken into three. The shrimp came out and instead of having colossal shrimp we had small shrimp, maybe even baby shrimp. We addressed the concern with the shrimp and they said they're not going to charge us for it. With our pasta came a side salad, the salad and the salad dressing, which was a lemon vinaigrette, was good. When we received the pasta, there was only four pieces of sausage, the chicken was unseasoned and the sauce was cheese sauce with hot sauce added, no other seasoning. Pros: The side salad, the taste of the salmon, and the crab cakes. Cons: Everything else. At least a fourth of the entrees on the menu were not available. The lemon drop lacked lemon and had sweet and low on the rim; the salmon size was 1.5 ounces and they had no rice or sour cream. The shrimp and grits... no flavor. That dish couldn't be eaten and the tortilla soup was grey. We really wanted to support a black-owned business but--make sure you have ingredients are available--especially on a Saturday. The management were slow to respond. It was also dark and gloomy... hard to see. His response was to bring a scented candle. Overall: Disappointing experience. read more

Get to restaurant, sign on the door written in a sharpie marker..."thermostat not working. Closed. Sorry." Never a consideration from the business to send customers a text or email to cancel the reservation the same way they did to confirm. Epic fail. Simple communication is key for a business to maintain customers. Will never attempt them again and will let friends know. Located across from the Flossmoor Metra stop, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem for those who want to feel special and sophisticated without having to spend major cash or fight Chicago traffic, long reservation lists, and crowded waiting areas. We attended for my mother's birthday, and the staff accommodated the six of us quite well despite the limited space within the establishment. I started out with a lemon drop martini, which was quite strong but mixed well. For my main course, I decided on the New Orleans pasta, which I was wary to do as I attend school in Louisiana, and hate to see Cajun cuisine butchered here up north. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this pasta was like reminiscing on the pastalaya that my close friend's mawmaw made for us when we went to visit. The cream sauce was absolutely amazing with a liberal amount of spice that has you reaching for your water glass in between bites. The sausage was great, the noodles were cooked to perfection; not too mushy or hard, and the chicken was pretty solid as well (though I'm not a huge fan of chicken so I cannot really comment specifics). The ambiance is great, the volume levels inside aren't bad at all, and most dinners come with a house salad + choice of dressing. Fresh, warm bread is also brought out with butter; though for my family of 6, it was gone as soon as it hit the table. They even sang happy birthday to my mom and presented her with a little cupcake. One downside was our wait time; nearly an hour and a half until we got our main courses, but due to COVID and understaffing (like everywhere), I'm sure they were running as fast as they could with the business of the night. My portion (drink, house salad, and main course), was about 30 dollars. I was truly shocked to see how the food was priced in comparison to the quality. I walked away feeling like I robbed the place, for how could such flavorful and well-prepared dishes be so reasonably priced? This place is small, tucked away on the main street and across from Flossmoor Station. It creatively uses the small space to get as many tables in as possible. Thankfully, it was not crowded this night as while I am a fluffy woman, I am not a very large one and would've had an issue getting to one of the tables along the wall! I wanted to try this place for a while as it is local to me and finally got around to it. Glad I did! While not a grand steakhouse, it is a nice place to grab a good meal. A friend who had been before had no objection going so that right there was a good sign! We shared a bottle of wine (half-price night so we were lucky!) and the waitress was very nice. There is a bar area so that is good and they have nightly specials. Kids can eat half price, happy hour at the bar with 1/2 price apps and more just check the day on their site. There is seating outside but very limited. The food was good, nothing to send back or take home! Meat was done just the way we both liked it. We had the filet with the veggies and they were cooked well. We did not get dessert, just enjoyed our wine. read more

Flavor and dressing perfection Chef's bruschetta introduced me to a lightly breaded mozzarella oval, excellent flavor and a perfect drizzle of whatever was drizzled on it. Lbvs. Charbroiled wings also offered extremely delicate, yet impactful flavor. Our Mixologist, Allen, is amazing! The owners are extremely pleasant, welcoming and have been there during all of my visits. However, Allen raises the bar on the overall experience. It's like going to visit a friend. Saw another table leaving with take home boxes of food while we were waiting for food that barely came. Against the law!!! Were told they were cooking more. One small amount of food was put out at a time in barely enough amounts for all of us to get any. The couple pieces of tenderloin that was ice cold was microwaved, but barely. Little scraps of ham and some chicken. No glassware to put water or sodas in besides mimosa glasses. No coffee. Two of the plates they set out had bugs on them. The advertised dessert tower was actually a couple small slices of cake we had to split and a couple tiny frozen eclairs. I know we sound stupid for staying but this was our family Mothers Day celebration, we were stunned, we thought much more food will come out and it would get better, where could we go at that point without a reservation, did we want to start yelling and embarrassing ourself and walk out full of hate and anxiety. I took my son out to celebrate going off to college. I love the fact that the restaurant was close to home and we didn't have to travel far. The establishment was small but quaint. We had the crab cakes, which were very good. They were too small for my taste but good. My son ordered a cheddar soup (can't remember the name) and it was awesome. I had the Cesar salad which was great too. We both ordered the New Orleans pasta. When they bought it to the table I thought Is this all we get for 24.00. The pasta was tasty but I expected larger portions especially with the price they charge. Overall, the food was good but I feel they are over priced. I'm so disappointed in this place. The owner the chef agreed to hosting a private party for 40 people and not one person food was cooked or served correctly. Because it was a party given by a 80 year mother for her daughter the guest didn't know what to do or say about receiving cold undone food. . Some guest never received their order and a few requests their hamburger to served with out blood and that took 3 tries before getting it right. The bathroom weren't clean at all. I didn't mention we waited 2 hours before the first order was served. The 80 year old mother did request to speak with the owner regarding the cake and icecream that wasn't served prior to the guest leaving. The owner didn't like hearing the complaints regarding the food and called the police on the 80 year old mother who didn't get the service she requested for this occasion. The owner locked the door and requested full payment for under cooked and cold food. The mother was forced to pay the full bill by the police. read more

The restaurant feels like a homie small town upscale establishment familiar to those in the area. Although the place isn't very large something about it feels comfortable and open. I started off the meal with the spinach artichoke dip and in general I enjoyed it. I was extremely satisfied with the portion size. The bread to dip ratio was perfect and there was more than enough to share with friends even with just one order. It tasted good and familiar but maybe had just a tad too much cream cheese, however this was not a significant problem. My entree was the Chicken Paillard & Linguine. And this was AMAZING. Honestly reading the description of the course did not prepare me for what I was about to get into. The chicken was seasoned well and had this distinct flavor that mixed acidity with tanginess. I can't quite describe it but I can certainly can say that combined with the white wine sauce, it was delicious. The noodles that came along with it were perfectly light and paired well with the heavier chicken. Another unique addition was the sliced zucchini that was incorporated into the pasta. At first I thought it was an odd combination but the thicker pieces of the vegetable soaked up the sauces in such an incredible way that they became flavor packets. I was very disappointed in this place. I didn't have a good experience as others have that have gone here. 1. Food. I originally ordered the french toast which comes with bacon and hash browns. The french toast was only 4 small ass wedges, which was made with regular white bread. Bacon was fine. But the the hash browns were super greasy, over cooked, and they only served a spoon full. The plate presentation is not restaurant quality here and it seriously looks like you cooked up some breakfast for yourself and served it to your family. That's cool--but when you are paying these restaurant prices, you expect more! My friend ordered the Benedict and it wasn't even hot but the plate was? We told the owner and she apologized and let us choose something different. I got the burger which was fine, it's served with ruffle chips and a small pasta concoction. My friend got the flat bread and she said it was good. 2. Drinks. My coffee arrived lukewarm and my Pepsi was flat. They also only give you a little cream with your coffee. 3. Server.
