After a long day from the city, we really were craving pizza, and since it wasn't far from home nor the metra, we picked Aurelio's in University Park. The building and interior is so cozy, warm, and welcoming. The staff is super sweet, and patient. The service is just outstanding. The food was hot, yummy, and filled our tummies perfectly. The staff is always courteous, and being in that dining room reminds me of all the meals I had there with my family as a child. I just love being there! I went here for a birthday/graduation party. Lovely little spot. The food was delicious. The creamy garlic dressing is not too thick and covers a salad nicely. The sausage and peppers are the superstar for me. Never had them taste this great anywhere else. Baked mostoccoli was rich and gave a very home cooked feeling. Chicken was not dry. So this was a plus for me. There were multiple pizzas, but I ate too much of everything else before I got to them. So I can't provide an assessment of the pizza, except that they smelled great. We had plenty of pitchers of water at the table. There were pitchers of op, but they were empty. I am not sure if there was a specific amount of refills for the party. So I won't complain. read more

Aurelio's pizza chain has been around since I was a kid. Since then, the quality has been consistent. The sauce, fresh veggies, and crispy thin-crust keep me coming back for more. We stopped by for pizza and wine and were not disappointed. The pizza was thin and crispy and hit the spot. The service was wonderful and everyone greeted us with a warm and welcoming smile. I regret not taking photos of the beautiful fireplace and the festive Christmas decorations inside but my phone needed to be charged. I'm confused as to why this Pizza parlor has such a low rating. My Blue Island born husband talks about Aurelios all the time. I should mention we live in California , and I'm a native. Let me just say, I loved it! I loved the thin crispy, cheesy crust. In California we quite often get a supper soggy crust, with an overload of toppings which makes it impossible to eat. Then there's the sauce! I have never tasted anything so delicious. I am already craving it. My husband says, we can actually have it shipped to California. I enjoyed Aurelio's! After a three hour drive in rush hour from Wisconsin, Aurelio's hit the spot. Also, we didn't find too many other options that were relatively close to Balmoral Park. We started with the Chicken Tenders. It came with ranch. I was immediately impressed by the breading and how good the chicken was. Though, when it comes to fried foods, I'm pretty easy to please. For the pizza, we ordered a 15", half pepperoni, and half mushroom, bacon, and chicken on thin crust. The thin crust was pretty good! We obviously couldn't finish it all, and it was still good the next day. I'll admit I had to microwave it rather than put it in the toaster oven, because the microwave was all my motel had. I live in the city but my family is addicted to this place so almost every time I'm back in the suburbs we go there, and they go there about once a week, if not more. Recently ordered food for delivery. The meatball sandwiches were huge and came with chips and pickles. The anti-pasto salad was fresh and delicious and came with dressing and bread. We gave the delivery person a good tip because the food came earlier than they told us. All in all, a great experience. I will say, several years ago, there did appear to be some kind of change because their food was less than good. Aurelios as a brand is in general a good example of tasty south suburban chicago style thin crust pizza (tavern cut/ party cut). However the Crete location has in recent years changed and the quality is now terrible. Other locations i've had recently seem to be on par with the Aurelios i think people would expect. The Crete location however is way off. More agitating still is that even though the quality is lower the price sure isn't. Its a shame. This was once a top place to get this style of pizza. Of all the Aurelio's location I have tried, this is my least favorite. The pizza is off, it's difficult to describe, it's just not Aurelio's pizza, in my opinion. There are other items on the menu that are decent, the wings being one of them, but, when you go to Aurelio's it is for pizza. The service is always very good, and friendly. Horrible!! I ordered two pizzas on Super Sunday, got them home and they had black bumbles( burnt ) all throughout the pizza. I called the manager, HE DID NOT CARE!! Claims he was busy due to the game and he will talk to the kitchen staff. Like I care, what about the garbage I ordered for my party! Needless to say, I will not order another pizza from there again!! The Aurelio's in Beecher, IL. sold garbage because they didn't care and went out of business!! I have over 20 plus family members that live in the area and all of them are at my home witnessing and tasting this mess!!!! Aurelios has been one of my favorites since I was little but this location is no longer true Aurelios! We ordered two medium pizzas, one sausage, one pepperoni and both of my little ones took one look and said thats not pizza! Im not sure what is going on with their cheese but our pizzas were orange was definitely not mozzarella cheese and dried out(no sauce) it just tasted disgusting. Not realizing that I was watching, our waitress used her hands to prepare our salad, only after she had taken our order and operated the cash register.
