Horrible sushi. Used a lot of rice as a filler and raw sushi was so small it was laughable. The search continues...

Slow service and horrible waiter (Ken). We went there for my mom's birthday in a fun and festive mood. We waited 25 minutes after being seated just to get water. We waited another 15 minutes to order appetizers and another 20 minutes for the appetizers. The restaurant was not full, so we can't say that was the cause for the slow service. The waiter made it quite obvious that he did not want to be there. No smile, no conversation and rarely checked in on us to see if we needed anything. I would only give 1 star, but the food was OK (not great!). We ordered coffee after dinner and he gave us tea instead (huh!). He apologized and said that people rarely order coffee and the coffee machine is rarely used. We won't be back!!! read more

I like the peaceful atmosphere and my tiger roll was delicious, didn't feel too good a few hours later , a day and a half later and it became worse, feels like a stomach flu. I think some of my sushi was warm , but it was really good , the sushi was too big , had to cut it , other than that we come here at least once every four months. I'm currently feeling like death . Last time we ate here we were only customers in the place and our sushi sat in the window on the non temperature controlled bar for 20 minutes while we kept saying " hope that's not our food" ! Came here with my husband and our 25-yr old daughter. I had wok entree of chicken with garlic sauce, the hubby had Kung pao chicken, and daughter had Hot Pot with shrimp. All our dishes were very tasty. The Kung pao was not spicy at all - just a tinge of hot spice & I am very sensitive to spiciness (i swell up). But I was able to eat some of my husband's food. The hot pot had a lot of tofu and about a handful of shrimp. The chicken with garlic sauce had a lot of broccoli and the chicken melted in my mouth...delicious! The prices here are very reasonable! We weren't sure what to expect actually. We arrived at lunchtime on a Sunday to a very quiet restaurant which honestly concerned me from the start. We were seated right away and ordered crab Rangoon's (not the best I've ever had) whole red snapper which was quite a beautiful presentation but not the best I've had as far as taste, but the sauce was very yummy! We had hot and sour soup which was pretty good actually but I had to ask for crunchy wontons to go in it. It's always difficult to find a good sushi restaurant when you're visiting somewhere new, but Bamboo Bistro had so many good reviews already, we decided to try it. We were not disappointed! The hostess seated us right away, and the server was very friendly. She helped us select sushi rolls so there was enough to share. The food was delicious, and the wait staff was attentive throughout the meal - the manager was also walking around to check on tables. It was a good sign that there was a steady stream of customers al night. It wasn't a crazy rush, so good and service didn't suffer. I eat here more than I eat at home. While the front desk staff turns over often, the servers have been here for a while and remember favorite orders, are well-acquainted with the menu and are very helpful. The sushi is all we've ordered here. Again & again. But most tables have many other entrees on them that I've never ordered. If you like Asian food with excess sugar, this is your place. Sickly sweet everything. Tried it three times, each was more sweet than the last. Not a fair representation of real Asian food. Only slightly better than fast food chains. What was worse was when we made comments to our server, we were told "I'll tell the chef." Always like this place. Service was good, food was good and when it's goofy it's still good. I'm amused by the heat rating they provide on a scale from 1 to 10. Keep in mind they may use a different method of getting the heat in a particular dish. Both main dishes we asked for a 6. One was more like a whoa 8, the other was a 4/5.
