Best Chinese food ever, both in Carson, Tahoe & Reno Area and Bamboo Garden is better that any place in Greater Salt Lake City Area, where I currently live. I wish they would build a restaurant in Salt Lake City, Utah where I live, the drive to Carson City is a little long, but to eat at Bamboo Garden it is worth the drive. Any time I make it into Carson City, Nevada, I eat at Bamboo Garden at least a few times. I only wish I lived closer. The food is fresh and service is top notch. read more

This Chinese restaurant serves Mandarin and Szechuan dishes and is as good as you would find in San Francisco and better than what you would find in Seattle! Dining in Carson City is as expensive as major Metropolitan cities, however, the prices at this restaurant is extremely reasonable; especially for the generous portions served. Our dinner, barbeque pork, sizzling duck and a vegetable medley tofu dish including rice, tea and a soda came to $30.00! The barbeque pork was disappointing but the sizzling duck and vegetable dish was excellent! The décor very comfortable and peaceful and extremely clean. The staff friendly and service prompt and excellent. I expect my food hot when served and I wasn't disappointed! Thankfully, no TV screen!! This place is fantastic and fast! My girlfriend and I came here, ordered our food and by the time she came back from the restroom our food was out. The vegetables were not over cooked and crunchy, chicken tender and flavorful and service was great! It a little off the beaten path from the Main Street of Carson City but well worth the trip. Second trip for dinner carry out. Very different experiment. Tofu and cashew, was excellent. Fresh zucchini, celery, loads of cashews in a not too salty sauce. Egg rolls have improved. The only reason I would not recommend this place is to keep it from overcrowding. The customer service is exceptional, the food is fresh and tasty, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The best Chinese food in the Carson valley! Fresh, diverse, high quality veggies and the broccoli beef was also delicious! I bet their placement next to Raley's grocery store gives them easy access to super fresh foods in a pinch. They have always had great fast and friendly service. We order the MuShu Veggie along with something else, because it's the best we have found anywhere. Instead of piles of cabbage, they include fresh Brocolli, a variety of quality mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and plenty of other Eastern delicacies from the garden. They are also very accommodating if you have any preferences (e.g. I don't like the mushrooms, so they skipped those on our last order for me). Do yourself a favor and try this place once and then go back again and again. read more

I hadn't been to Bamboo Garden in quite some time (probably a couple of years) after some disappointing meals. I am happy to say they have turned things around very nicely. I really like the fact you can get a "Dinner for One" when dining solo - as I was tonight. For the price of any entree + $2, you get said entree plus soup, vegetable egg roll, crab rangoon, and your choice of fried or steamed rice. Quite the bargain - I ordered Mongolian Beef and brought home enough for at least two more meals! I had the hot and sour soup and fried rice - everything was delicious. The fried rice had chicken, egg and I think onion in it. Very flavorful. For "dessert" both an almond cookie and a fortune cookie are provided. I'll be back! read more

Very disappointed in the restaurant. Ordered the lunch special. They brought the wrong soup, ordered steamed chicken/asparagus and it came with sauce and wasn't steamed. They changed it and brought it steamed. The chicken was absolutely so horrible I couldn't eat it. It looked breaded and came from a fast food restaurant I couldn't even taste it. So, under a recommendation from a friend that this place was above average, we decided to chance going to the Bamboo Garden for lunch. Now, I have been to many Chinese restaurants, but this place had the best decor I have ever seen! I was super excited for the outcome of this experience, and had planned to make it our new stop in Carson over Kings Buffet. Well, the start of the experience was rather poor, the waiter came over IMMEDIATELY after we sat down and wanted our food orders. Well, we had just sat down, let alone pick up our menus to look. However, (And this is just my own personal biased taste) I was dying for lemon chicken. I worked at a Chinese restaurant in the past, and the owner made the best lemon chicken I had ever eaten in my life. Well, since then I have been on sort of a journey to find something even close to his. So, curiously I had asked if I could sample the lemon sauce used to cook the lemon chicken in. The guy looked at me like I had asked him to move Mt. Everest or something, and quickly ran to get another woman who spoke better English. Well, this woman already came off to us as annoyed, and when I better phrased my question and asked, (Which personally, 10 out of 10 Chinese places I have been to since my own have had no problem letting me sample the sauce used for their lemon chicken) she gave me a very poor and nasty response, telling me that she wasn't going to let me sample it because it is uh...Handmade and baked into the chicken? Okay, so already I knew that she was about a 1 out of 5 star customer satisfaction person, and that she was full of cow manure, since I know how a lot of places prepare lemon chicken. Rather then debate the issue with her, I just ordered the sesame chicken instead. Not only did this annoy her further that I would inquire about a food and then not order it because I refuse to waste my money on something I won't eat, but my poor sister took the chance to order it so I could taste it. From that point on, we never could get her or the boy back to our table except when the lunch special egg roll and Rangoon was brought out along with our main dishes. Here is where the rest of the experience goes downhill. My sisters lemon chicken, I was so happy I didn't chance getting it. The chicken itself was like a patty cut into chicken strips. It was also way overcooked, that it took a fork and knife to even cut the chicken. The edges and near middle were super browned, and the sauce they claimed was baked into the chicken? Well, I knew better, it was indeed a sauce that was drizzled over the poor excuse for chicken. Needless to say, it too was a disappointment. (But again, that is why I asked in the first place and then made a different selection.) So my sister didn't get to eat at all aside from the appetizers. We were able to tell the lady about it, not only did she not care, she acted very insulted we would even bring it to her attention. At that point, we didn't want to chance the staff to remake her food, so we let it be. But politely told her to tell the cook he was cooking the chicken WAY too long. The sesame chicken? Not bad. The batter was falling off the chicken as I figured it would after seeing the lemon chicken. But I just mixed it into the rice and was content. In conclusion folks, the service was extremely poor. The food, was nothing to celebrate or be proud of really. Again the decor was fabulous! Too bad the service team and food don't match such a place. I had high hopes walking in, and let me tell you, there are Chinese place around with poor decor, but their food would leave you coming back time and time again to eat. Pass this one up folks, too many other great places that deserve your business and would be more than happy to make your experience great. Funny thing to note, the fortune cookie read, "A happy heart, maketh a happy countenance." Well, my tip certainly reflected that message. read more

I called to verify they deliver in our Carson neighborhood, which they do. So we planned an evening around having food delivered to the house, willing to pay top dollar for the minimum delivery fee. We called the next day to place our order and were told that she wasn't sure when the driver would be back. When we said we lived in Carson and could wait, she said that would be fine. When we said we live in north Carson, she told us that we live too far away. She then hung up on me without even waiting for a response. They used to deliver to this address, so I'm not sure what changed, but now I'm starving and have to find another food solution. read more

Bamboo Garden has been our favorite Chinese restaurant in Carson City for years. They are located in an obscure location but well worth the trip. If we go there for lunch, I usually order the Walnut Shrimp - excellent - although I always ask for more walnuts! They are so yummy! In the evening we like to order the House Dinner for two. It's a lot of food but we are able to bring leftovers home. I would highly recommend this restaurant - we have never been disappointed. read more

I went there for lunch on a short 30 minute break had my food to me in under 20 minutes. The food was great had great flavor and it was a good portion for the price. The people that work there are very nice and very quick to refill a drink if it is at half or to get you your for in a timely manor.
