I would give Bambu about 3.5 stars. This is bubble tea deluxe! I got the Bambu Special which contains Fresh coconut, pandan jelly, longan, basil seed and coconut water. I'm used to just having the tapioca balls at the bottom of drinks like this but this contains fruit, seeds, tapioca and jelly if you want to customize it that way. The Boba Tea drinks that I usually get are cold. I'm not sure if what I had actually qualifies as boba in a basic sense but my drink was more luke warm instead of cold. I'm not sure if that is intentional or not. Maybe what I got was a more authentic experience that what I realized. Case in point with Banh Mi. The sandwiches I had the meat was usually warm and then I had cold meat in one and was later told that was more authentic. Or with pho. I usually like chicken in my pho but was told that beef is what traditionally goes with it. I guess I don't know my Vietnamese cuisine very well to know what is actually authentic or if I got something that went awry. In any case my drink was relatively enjoyable up to a point. If I go back I will read the ingredients and menu carefully to see if they offer the kind of boba tea I enjoy. read more

Oh my. It's probably good that this place is 30 minutes' drive from my house or I would be a pudge muffin coming here all the time. I love Vietnamese desserts (especially chè). The Bambu special is really good, not too sweet, very refreshing and not as heavy as the other drinks/desserts with coconut cream in them. The Bambu special has coconut slices, longans, pandan jelly and basil seeds. Next time I am going to try one of the other 23 (!!!) types of chè listed on their menu. The smoothies and bubble tea looked great, too, but I can easily get those at the ubiquitous bubble tea shops. The store is inside the Great Wall Mall and parking is free. I felt pretty productive as I hit up Ranch 99 for groceries, Hue Ky Mi Gia for noodles, and Bambu for dessert. There are a few tables and chairs inside, and a couple of benches outside in the mall. They were very busy and the line was long but they worked quickly as my order came out within 5 minutes. They take credit cards. I hope they open one closer to Seattle soon. read more

Did you know that Bambu Desserts and Drinks, uses only fresh young Thai coconuts and not canned coconut juice? They actually open the fresh young coconuts at the store and drain the juice every day. They also use the young coconut meat and you can taste the difference. I have been here a lot but never wrote a review yet. This may not be the best time because I am sitting here dreaming about the sweet smooth goodness of Bambu and was wishing it was open right now. Bambu is located in the Great Wall Mall. Use the second (Southern) entrance if you want to park close to it. The parking situation at the Great Wall Mall varies but generally there are a lot of cars in the lot. On the weekends it will take longer to get a space so plan accordingly. I have had many different kinds of wonderful Vietnamese Che over ice at Bambu. They have a great selection of Milk Teas, Smoothies, Cold & Hot Drinks and Blended Coffees too. On the menu board you will see a large selection of their offerings and you can add additional items for fifty cents to any beverage.. My favorite things here vary. I love the smoothies the most but also like the milk teas. I like to add some extras to them. Here are some of what I have had recently. SMOOTHIES - Red Bean (4/5) - Coconut (5/5) My Favorite Smoothie - Taro Coconut (4/5) - Jackfruit and Coconut (4/5) MILK TEAS - Coconut Milk Tea (5/5) - Jasmine Milk Tea (5/5) My Favorite Milk Tea - Lychee Milk Tea (4/5) - Mint Milk Tea (4/5) - Black Milk Tea (5/5) I love the taste of the fresh coconut meat here. It is some of the best I have had. I love coconut so the last time I was here I got a coconut smoothie with fresh coconut! It was fantastic. After living in Seattle for 3 months now and having tried 16 of the drinks at BAMBU, it's probably time to write a review. I first had BAMBU on the East coast at the city of Brotherly Love and let's say, it was love at first sip. Pandan jelly was the deal maker. I've never had it before but the taste blew me away. (Step aside boba!) One could say, I must be mad for having 16 drinks but remember, this happened in a span of 3 months and I had shared them with another person. You could say this is what I pulled at Boba Guys in SF. But I'd argue that was way more extreme. Now, let's cut to the chase, shall we? #62 - Durian Smoothie - Ahh the King of fruits. This was pretty authentic and you can tell they used real fruit, it was pungent, strong and the flavor was straight on. I'd recommend it if you could tackle this beast and overcome the scent. #6 - Fruit Addict - Che Trai Cay - This one is a complete full on dessert. It's filled with Coconut Milk with Jello, Lychee, Longan, Jackfruit, Palm Seed, Red Tapioca, Coconut Meat and Pandan Jelly. Flavors are pretty interesting. The combination of coconut and pandan is perfect. #14 - Dau Do Khoai Mon Banh Lot - It's similar to #6 just with less toppings. It's pandan jelly, red bean and taro. Sometime less is more. Soyfu - The tofu in here is so soft and silky, it's almost like flan. It's less of a drink, more of a dessert. #71 - Taro Coconut smoothie with boba - Definitely one of my favorites. If you want a sip of Southeast Asia, this is it! Doesn't get any better with taro and coconut! #10 - Hat Luu Su'o'ng Sao Bahn Lot - A drink made for the jelly lovers out there, think pandan jelly, grass jelly and red tapioca. Wasn't my favorite due to the red tapioca but the grass jelly and pandan was decent. #1 - Bambu Special - The classic! Can't go wrong with this one. I would say it's a good intro to their desserts if you're new to BAMBU. It gives you a little taste of all their toppings. #18 - Khoai Mon Dau Xanh Banh Lot - Another favorite of mine, taro, green bean and pandan jelly. It's almost the same as #14 but different types of green bean. Sapota smoothie with mini boba - I've never had Sapota before and let's say it tastes as if jackfruit and apricots had a baby. Again, they use fresh fruit and you can definitely tell the moment you sip it. #63 - Jackfruit smoothie - It's not as strong as I hoped it to be but maybe it's hard to get ripe ones to Seattle. Still not too shabby though, perhaps on a good day, you'll get a great jackfruit in your drink. Basil seed fruit tea - DO NOT order this, this was probably my least favorite drink out of all. It was so watered down that it just tasted like sugar water... This took away one star for this review, otherwise I would've given 5. #66 - Soursop smoothie - I hardly see soursop offered so extra points for that! If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it! It's not too wild like durian, it almost tastes like pear or melon but way better. Passion fruit juice - Those pesky passionfruit seeds.. otherwise it's quite a refresher! Strawberry Tea - If you're seeking for a light drink that's not too heavy or more towards a meal then I'd get this one. Not only is it refreshing but there's fresh strawberry bits!! Overall, BAMBU is worth checking out as long as you know what to order. There's something for everyone here. Vietnamese desserts? Check. Fruit smoothies? Check. Milk tea? Check. Boba? Check. Coffee? Terrible customer service and horrendous quality! I would rate this place a ZERO if I could! My brother ordered a smoothie and mentioned at the store that it tasted like plastic, but he is hard to please, so we paid it no mind. In the car ride, he mentioned it again, so after getting home, we tasted it, too, and felt something in our mouths. So, we put the smoothie through a strainer AND FOUND PIECES OF PLASTIC WRAP IN THE SMOOTHIE. LIKE, WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So we called Bambu and told them about it and NO APOLOGY. All we got was an, "Okay, thank you." AND THAT WAS IT. ARE YOU FOR REAL?! Congratulations Bambu for making your way to Washington! I first encountered Bambu in California and I thought it was a California thing. However, I saw this location inside the Great Wall Shopping Mall in Kent. I was slightly shocked but at the same time so excited because Bambu offers really great drinks/desserts! There are a few bubble tea places inside Great Wall but I can guarantee that Bambu will be the main attraction. It hasn't been open for too long and there are already a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon. Now that there is one in Kent, I can freely enjoy Bambu whether I'm in California or Washington. I decided to give this location a shot. The place is pretty small with only a few tables inside. The menu is the same as other Bambu locations. The price is still around $3.00-4.50 per drink. I brought my brother here so that he could try the goodness that Bambu offers. There was quite a line (understandable) but there were two people working at the cash register so it went by pretty quickly. I ordered the Bambu special for my brother and got a green bean milkshake for my partner (his favorite). What is different about this location compared to California is that they use the number system. You are basically given a number and when they call it you can come pick up your drinks. I waited and found the numbers to be out of order. A couple numbers that came after me already received their drinks before me which I thought was slightly unfair. Finally, my number was called and I picked up my drink. Not that it matters too much but the presentation here was not as beautiful as in California. The Bambu special has special layers to it and I felt the one in Kent delivered a drink with everything all jumbled up. However, all the components were still there: pandan jelly, coconut, longan, and basil seeds. My brother took a sip and like most people, thought it was strange in a good way. Then it slowly grows on you and you're hooked and want more! I'm not sure if this location also makes pandan jelly fresh each day, but the pandan jelly still tasted great here. Nice and soft and chewy! The green bean milkshake was a little disappointing. This location gives much less than that of the California location. Usually they fill it all the way to the top of the cup (including the round lid). However, they only filled it to the top of the cup leaving the round lid with nothing. I felt slightly robbed but the quality was still the same. All in all, although I am slightly more biased towards the California location, I'm glad Bambu has come to Kent and now everyone can taste the unique drinks it has to offer. read more

I stopped by Bambu to try out their desserts after going to IKEA because I normally have no other reason to be in the area. Bambu is inside the Great Wall Shopping Center, so if you're using a GPS and it brings you there, just go inside and you'll find Bambu on the right side of the "mall." The menu was large and I don't know anything about Vietnamese drinks/desserts, so I was a little overwhelmed, but decided on #6 because it's one of their signature dessert drinks and it sounded like it had a good sample of most of the ingredients available - lychee, palm seed, young coconut, jackfruit, longan, etc. The dessert looked awesome when it came out, like a Christmas drink, but I unfortunately wasn't a fan once I tried it :/ Maybe it was my fault in choosing one with so many ingredients, but it was too sweet and I didn't like all the flavors mixed up in one cup together. I drank less than half and had to toss the rest. Sad. Service was good though and the quality of the drink was fine too.. I guess I just can't recommend this place because I didn't enjoy it myself. If I ever find myself at Bambu again, I'll definitely just stick to a regular bubble tea - I'm pretty sure I'll like it more than any dessert here. read more

I heart che! I could seriously eat this everyday if I could. Good thing I don't live close by or else I would get fat eating this all day, everyday! But it's so good and worth making the trek here from Issaquah. I will drive here just to get che. Sure, there's che spots in Seattle, which is closer, but none of them compare to BAMBU. I've tried #3-che 3 mau (3 color che) and #2-che thap cam, but my favorite che of them all is #4-che suong sao hat luu-this has grass jelly, red tapioca, pandan jelly, jello, and mung bean. I usually substitute the mung bean for red bean instead. YES, you can substitute different stuff in your che! They also have milk teas, smoothies, cafe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee), and of course Vietnamese che desserts. The girls that work there are pretty nice, and your order comes out pretty quick. They have several tables that you can sit down and enjoy your meal. You can also request take out, and they'll pack the ice separately, so you can add it in when you get home. read more

Having tried this chain in California I was happy to see one open in WA & not too far from my house too!! Possibly dangerous for my waist line, so I must behave! LOL Definitely as good as I remembered, and the service was great too. I am a pandan fan, so this is extra awesome to find a place that has it. If you've never had these types of drinks it's like boba on steroids (well, depending on which type you get) due to all the extra yumminess inside your cup. I love it cause it satisfies my desire to eat something for dessert (the yummy add-ins) with the refreshment of a sweet & tasty drink. This place opened up in July. Tried it just now and I was curious. Because I don't like the tapioca ship 2 stores down in thr bldg. My bf wanted a halo halo fix. And just to are surprise there menu considered 24 variety of different types of the similar Filipino dessert halo halo. It was awesome. Under each dessert titles is a brief description of what toppings is combined together. It was very useful also the canvas pictures where also useful in picking out a drink. The vibe was very chill. Bambu is a great place to get delicious Vietnamese desserts! Each dessert has different options of jelly and other delectable Noms to appeal all type of tastes and textures. I'm a huge fan of the texture and consistency of the jelly here. It is never too soggy or crunchy. It's always just right. I love to get the #10, stab the crushed ice block until it explodes which makes the entire dessert chilly, and slurp shamelessly through a straw. Yasss! The Vietnamese coffee here is also a hit. It is more on the bitter end which means it's not overflowing with condensed milk. It is a good compliment to the desserts. This place is always busy as it is located at the Great Wall shopping center. The staff is friendly and efficient. I never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my order. There is limited seating options during busy times. I typically order to go to avoid trying to fight the masses for a seat. I prefer slurping my #10 in peace versus In a crowd of Vietnamese people. If i could put negative stars I would. Sooo disappointed . I always get the same drink, which is the BAMBU favorite. In the BAMBU favorite is Red tapioca, grass jelly, pandan jelly, coconut milk. That's it. I got the same exact drink today but it had white chunks in it. First I'm like did they put coconut shredding in here... and then I was stirring it and realized it was like cottage cheese. Aka they gave me bad milk. This is not okay please check your milks date or even make sure that your milk isn't sitting out . My mom also got a che 3 Mau and hers had little chunks too but wasn't as noticeable and she drinked it. Which will probably cause a stomach ache later. It was too late for me to even go back to even get a new one . Which I probably don't even want a new one. When this place opened up, everyone wanted to try it out. I came here a few times every few days because my friends ALL wanted to try it and I just couldn't turn away from che and bubble tea. Now that it's fall, we've all reverted to pumpkin spice lattes and boots with the furrrrrr! My go to for Che is #6- this has jackfruit, lychee, palm seed, red tapioca, pandan jelly etc in a coconuty-condense milk-y half and half mixture. It's pretty good, you can choose to get it with crushed ice or no ice. If you like it sweet, say no to the ice! If you just love ice, by all means add it on! I have my days, for the most part I say no to ice and just drink it up with the fat straw. So, the abundance of jelly and topping choices rocks my socks. I'm not even going to sit here and list them all BUT I appreciate the variety just because you can add on whatever you want! I like to add grass jelly, granted it's from a can but still! Their che isn't super sweet which is why I don't want the ice to dilute it even more but I think the sweetness is spot on. Any sweeter it would be kind of tough to enjoy the fruits and jellies. I've tried the jasmine milk tea, it's decent but I prefer Boba Express next door- their grass jelly is also better as well. I wouldn't come here to get boba, that's my opinion. My friend got a fresh taro smoothie which was blended with real taro. I hate taro but this was actually not bad! I got a fresh mango smoothie from here which I liked, but my boba stance still stands. I will say that the avocado smash is DELISH. I swear to you, I think they give you 2 or 3 avocados per order, it's very thick and with the toppings, I can sit get through all of it myself in one sitting. Avocado smoothies/ desserts is an acquired taste, it's not sweet! I asked for more condensed milk when I ordered mines last time but if you're that person who loves avocado smoothies, I dare you to try it! This also comes with crushed ice and an array of tapioca pearls and small jellies. It's more a more savory dessert, I like this once in a while :) Oh! I also tried their special - young coconut with basil seeds and longan. Ok, this one is def an acquired taste. If you hate weird textures, this is not for you. I'm only basing this off of one of the dessert drinks I got. It was kinda good first few sips, but it's really pretty dang sweet stuff. I don't really prefer it. I kinda felt like my tolerance for sucha sugary drinkable item is like maybe a quarter of the cup. I will try #1 if I'm ever around (Which is almost never). The Original Yogurt Slush Combo wasn't my favorite though, only because I don't like yogurt too much, but for those who do like yogurt, this would be a good one to try. I tried the #6 on the dessert menu, and really liked it; it was better than I thought it would be. I've had this kind of dessert many times, but homemade. But the one here was light and not too sweet; really good and fulfilling. And the passionfruit juice was so tasty, with real passionfruit pieces in it. Banh Trang Tron: Presentation looks OK but I think the quality has gone down hill. Mango in picture looks good but it was old and bitter. Peanuts were burnt---reference picture and also the rice paper was old and salty. And the quail eggs are from the can and tasted sour(I tossed it out immediately). Either this is after 3-4 months of closure with low sales and I got the old batch. I am going to pass on Bambu moving forward. Go to the new boba shop down two shops for the quality tea. read more

Went to grab a dessert drink after dinner at Bambu. My first time here I wanted to try something different. My friend ordered me the Bambu Special (fresh coconut, basil seeds, lychee, and jelly). Pretty delicious combination just seeing those things in the same sentence. At first sip, the taste blew my mind! A nice cool drink that tastes good, not too sweet, and contains fresh fruit and jelly. Make sure to grab a straw (thick straw similar to a bubble tea straw) and a spoon. Once you drink most of your slush and juice, take the plastic top off, and use the spoon the eat the fruit!! I was pretty satisfied with me first experience here. I would choose getting one of those over bubble tea. Better taste, fresh fruit and a perfect sweet and cool taste in this hot weather. I highly recommend trying one of these drinks!! read more

There is so much hype about this place that I have been wanting to check it out myself. I ordered the #2 which is like the Vietnamese Che 3 Mau, #6 a similar version of the Che Thai, and tried my friend's #1 drink. The #2 was a bit overwhelming for me half way through. The combination of the beans and coconut milk was too much for my tummy esp. after a full meal. The #6 was really refreshing because of all the fruits that are in it. I had a sip of the #1 and that one doesn't have the milk so it is probably the best after a full meal. The basil seed also gives the drink a unique texture. The place is spacious and clean but the legs of their tables are uneven. Maybe they should invest in more stable furniture. read more

Wow I've never seen so many options of Che before. There are so many choices, I end up not choosing any...but that's okay! I favor the teas more so and that's why I end up either getting rose milk tea or jasmine milk tea. Honestly both tastes pretty much the same so I end up interchanging the two often. It just depends if I'm feeling fancy that day then I'll opt for the rose. Both aren't too sweet and neither have a weird aftertaste which make them very safe choices. The interior is nicely decorated. It could use more seating however, especially on their busy days, but that doesn't matter to me because I never linger in there anyways. By far the best location I've been too. I was really excited when they opened a location in Edmonds..but they don't have a large variety of drinks like Kent does. They also don't have desserts like shaved ice and Vietnamese side dishes. This place is inside the Great Wall Mall and is always pack whenever I go. So far their consistency is alright--they messed up on my drink once. I usually get they raspberry tea with basil seeds. It was pretty bland, sadly. However, my bf always gets #10 and it's always really good. Whether they do mess up on my drinks, I'll reach over for his! I have weird cravings and Bambu does the trick! To be honest, Bambu really only deserves a 3.5 stars. The drinks here are just a bit too pricey (but I suppose other boba places are about the same). What I do LOVE about Bambu is that they ask you if you want the ice separate. This is by far, the best thing ever! I find it unique that they offer such thing when you have it to-go, but to me it helps with not diluting my drink and/or they aren't gypping me of my ingredients in an ~$6 drink! They messed up on my drink once, but it wasn't all that bad. Suggestion is to make sure they understand what you are modifying in your drink. If this place wasn't so far from me, I would probably order all the time! PRICING Slightly pricey in comparison to the other bubble tea and drink options offered in the area. There is a bit of quality to back it up, but I've definitely had other drinks and desserts that cost less and tasted better. The serving size is also not as large as one would think (unless you're getting the Yogurt) based on the price since the medium drinks are at a similar price to a large drink in other areas. QUALITY They stay true to their motto when they talk fresh since you'll likely see the pulp of any fruit drink you ordered. This can also be taken in a negative light since drinks that involve fruits like passion fruit also tend to have a heavy amount of seeds in it. Now with that being said...the yogurt is absolutely amazing and is a MUST. Be careful though, this can legitimately count as a meal since it's very filling and packed full of sliced fruits so get this option knowing you will spoil your appetite. SERVICE Well...it's a hit or miss. Sometimes they're nice and sometimes they're rude. Although most people come in for a quick drink or take-out dessert, the short interaction that occurs can still mean a lot to some. OVERALL It's good and if you're in town, GO FOR THE YOGURT. Of course this is my favorite dish so some may disagree, but this is essentially my pick when I think of a menu option that gives people the best bang for their buck. My husband and I are big fans of bubble tea. We get our weekly, yes weekly sometimes twice a week, fix at either Oasis or Xiu Xian Tea. They're both awesome and I would totally still go there to get bubble tea. .. BUT, Bambu is the first place I've tried which has all these specialty drinks and toppings that I would never even dream of mixing together. The result is very unique and refreshing!
