Just brought an oolong tea with egg pudding, it definitely taste like water and the bottom contains bunch black stuff which it looks like they didn't drain any tea out or just using bunch left over oolong tea put this drink together. I used to go to this place all the time and this is first time got the tea like that. If there is no more certain tea option, please just inform the customer instead force the drink out and provide a terrible product! Uh oh, watch out Kim Van Deli and Boba Express!! It's obvious that the Landlord of Great Wall Shopping Mall has BAMBUZLED the tenant mix by allowing direct competition into the complex*. Bad for other businesses but good for us, the customer! Normally, while traveling, I stop into BAMBU when I am in Texas and California for dessert drinks and Asian puddings. They also have a few locations in the DC area and Georgia from what I know. This is BAMBU's first Washington State location. Niceties: -Cool music and televisions to watch and lounge. -Open and modern feel of the space with an actual sit down area that Kim Van Deli and Boba Express do not provide. -A large selection of different coffees, milk teas, dessert puddings and smoothies with even more choices of add-ons (not just boba pearls!). -They do NOT use powder to create smoothies like Taro, Durian, Soursop, Avocado and Jackfruit; they use the actual fruit. Just this fact alone will steer folks away from Boba Express, which uses mostly a powder base to create theirs. -Cup holders integrated into the bag. When you get it to go, they will put it a bag that they have already set a cup holder inside. Very clever. -They will set the ice separately in a bag if you just want it for later. This will prevent melted ice water to be floating on top when you are ready to eat it when you get home. Oddities: -Cash only. What I noticed is they still tack on additional taxes whereas most places that are cash only already include the tax into their prices. The likelihood of have a ton of change back is high. Maybe this is a way for them to earn tips as many of us will just put that change into the tip jar ( ;P ). UPDATE: Thanks to Ivan, clarification...credit card machine is not yet up and running therefore cash only. That explains the oddity!! :) I am definitely coming back here often. I have tried the Taro smoothie, the Durian smoothie, 3 color pudding and the red bean/pandan jelly combo all in just the first two days of their store opening. It's refreshing and within a reasonable price range. Update: Credit/Debit Cards now accepted! ______________________ *First, allowing Fashion Hair Design to be added to the complex took away business from Lotus Hair Salon, and now this. I gather that no one included an exclusive use or non-compete clause in their leases so the tenants may also be at fault for missing this in their negotiations. Been a loyal customer for years since this place has opened. They have great drinks and desserts! As a boba fanatic, I can guarantee this place is up to par. My favorite drinks and desserts are Honey green tea, matcha mango smoothie, and smashed avocado. They also have a wide variety of toppings. Knocked a star down due to prices as they are a bit higher than other boba shops. Overall, I would say this is the best boba and dessert joint against the other 3 inside 99 ranch. read more

I bought 3 cups of the kumquat sugarcane earlier today for almost $30 (tax n tip included). I noticed the girl used only one small piece of fresh sugarcane to make my order so I was a bit concerned since this isn't typically enough for 3 orders. I was in a hurry so I didn't check it throughly at the store. When I got home 30 mins later, I noticed that the sugarcane drinks had a dark greenish color and this typically mean that it isn't fresh (please see the photo below). It taste bland, and has an odd smell to it. After taking one sip, I knew I had to throw it away and that I wasted time and my $30. My stomach is now hurting. Lesson learned. I remember coming to The Great Wall to get a milk tea from the little bubble tea shop and noticed there was a Bambu. Unfortunately they weren't open yet. But of course as soon as they did I went nuts and came here almost every day if not every other day for the first couple months. I felt like I was competing with Ken L. For check-ins. The owner and girls behind the counter are fairly nice. The drinks aren't mind blowing but they are very good and after the first 30 I had, I decided I needed a break from Bambu. But it's a nice treat every once in a while. In San Jose, California Bambu is everywhere, so it's nice to have one in the area and I don't have to travel to Cali to get one. read more

Was in the area recently, I haven't been to the Great Wall shopping center in years. Came by to check out Bambu for a coffee blended drink. It's a nice looking shop as you enter, clean and the staff was very friendly. I decided on getting the Mocha Blended Coffee drink, it was pretty good , I added boba and they gave me a good amount. Boba was nice & soft, until it freezes at the bottom of your cup. Their menu is pretty big from milk teas, hot drinks, cold drinks, blended drinks, coffees, smoothies and other desserts. I think this location has better che than one in china town. I always get summer delight. It is really good summer drink but I enjoy during winter time also. I really enjoy all the Che Desserts here. It's a little pricey, so I don't come often, but the flavors are worth treating myself. Most recently, I've been trying different milk teas at various locations to compare. At BAMBU, I have only had the Thaiger Milk Tea and the Wintermelon Milk Tea. I did not enjoy the Thaiger Milk tea as much as I wanted to. I cannot say for certain how the drink itself was made, but it tasted almost like a powder mix, and not from brewed Thai tea. Again, I don't know for sure, but that's just a feeling. Wintermelon is my favoite. I think i have not been disappointed with wintermelon anywhere. This place can get addicting on sweltering 70-80 degree weather in seattle. I have been here 3x now in a matter of 2 weeks lol I love that they have healthier fresh alternatives to most bbtea shops. Coconut water, coconut meat, basil seeds, with pandan jelly and grass jelly is some of my favs.. the shaved ice is more like gelato..very dense and sweet! Stopped by here on the way down to Olympia, and it was really crowded! Seems like there is usually a line here, but it goes quickly. I ordered the #1 Bambu Special because I was overwhelmed by all the other choices. I couldn't tell what some of the ingredients were so I just went with the special since that's usually the most popular. The dessert drink had coconut slices, longan, pandan jelly and basil seeds. The liquid itself was coconut water which was great because it was hydrating and tasty! I LOVED the pandan jelly, I had no idea what it was, and it looked weird because it was green and long, but it was so good. It had the chewy texture of tapioca and a fragrant fruity flavor. The basil seeds were my next favorite, I've had those before. I didn't bother to eat the coconut or longan because I figured the drink soaked up the fruits' flavors. Overall, I'd definitely recommend trying this place once! It's a long drive from Seattle, but there is so much to see/eat anyway at the Great Wall! read more

Where i can only imagine that the flavor is already infused into the ice.. then shaved after. Very flavorful and creamy. Second time i went.. i tried the red velvet cheese cake, and also was able to try the green tea cheesecake. What i realized is.. the shaved ice is still too sweet for me. Maybe the first time.. i know that thai tea is sweet with condensed milk, so the flavor matched. Therefore red velvet and the green tea... too sweet in my opinion. I've seen a lot of my friends post on social media when they come here but I just never got around to it, and no one has ever mentioned to me that I HAVE to try this place. When I came in, it was clean and nice inside for its location. I had ordered the Bambu Special without the seeds (only because of a temporary diet restriction) and it was delicious! Devina was the one helped me and recommend this dessert as my first and I owe it to her because now, when I'm around the area, I definitely want to come back and get one. Yummy yummy, I got this dessert in my tummy! Located in the Great Wall complex (close to the Ranch 99 Market), Bambu is usually the place where people satisfy their Asian dessert cravings. Unfortunately, it's too far away for me to regularly visit (since I live in Seattle). I've been here a couple of times during the weekend and it can get pretty packed. There's a handful of tables, which can make it difficult to find a seat. However, Bambu has some very unique Vietnamese desserts that I don't usually see elsewhere. Also, the cost of a drink is pretty inexpensive from $3.50 -$4.50. I typically get number #10 dessert (with red jelly that looks like pomegrante) because it's not overly sweet, and I like the chewiness of the jellies. The only issue I have with the dessert is balance. It'll taste amazing the first half of the way, but towards the end, it feel like there's too much jelly left over and not enough milk/liquid. I've had other order desserts on their menu, and I end up thinking the same with balance after that initial taste. The server changed me $7+ for a drink that she could not make right. I asked for no sugar and there was plenty of sugar in the drink. I asked for more coconut milk and she added milk. I'm lactose intolerant. I threw the drink away given that she couldn't get it right after 2 tries with crystal clear directions. I first fell in love with Bambu when I stumbled across it in Cali, and it's awesome to have one in the local area. They offer a wide selection of drinks, but I come here for the Vietnamese desserts! It's the only franchise of its kind that focuses on and has a nice range of Vietnamese desserts. My favorites are the Bambu Special and the Fruit Addict. The Bambu Special is very light and refreshing since it has coconut juice for a base. It also has a nice variety of toppings like Pandan jelly, basil seeds, and fresh coconut. I suppose these are pretty unique since you won't find them everywhere, but I can see them being enjoyed by others who haven't had it before. The Fruit Addict is the equivalent of a Che Thai which has the best assortment of fruits in comparison to some of their other drinks which don't have as many, or have toppings like durian/red or green bean in them which may be off-putting to those who aren't accustomed to it. I usually ask for my dessert orders with less ice since all the crushed ice can make it really difficult to eat the dessert hiding underneath. Be warned that Bambu is located in the 99 Ranch parking lot/plaza, so parking is tight and potentially accident-inducing like every other cramped Asian parking lot. read more
