We decided to have a light lunch here so we ordered one roll to split between two of us. The rainbow roll was delicious and displayed beautifully. The ingredients were fresh. It was a great choice for lunch. Staff was great. As we were there on the tail end of lunch, it wasn't super busy and we were well taken care of. Stopping by for dinner. The restaurant was quiet when we came in, but it got packed very soon. I noticed that they used Chinese tea cup for hot beverages. Very simple and minimalist decorations. We ordered 2 sashimi, and 5 rolls. The sashimi got to us fast, but the rolls took a while to get to us. The food was decent, and portion was a bit small with the price we paid for. We found out that there is only 1 server, 1 sushi chef, and 1 chef in the kitchen. That is a lot for 1 person to take care of. Salute for the 3 of them work hard on Friday dinner time. read more

We were excited to see a sushi place in Bandon. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. Our sushi rolls fell apart and it seemed like they either didn't cook the rice enough or they didn't use sushi rice. My tuna roll was a little "fishy" and generally not that good. The service was adequate. We were a little surprised when both of plates they brought us were chipped and cracked, and add to that that in the woman's bathroom there were no paper towels and the soap dispenser was empty. Road trip from Orange County and decided to test my luck with sushi in Oregon. Wow, the sashimi were yummy....fish melts in your mouth and almost taste the salt water in the fish as a sign of fresheness . Ordered Old Town Hamachi, local seared albacore, and new style salmon sashimi all to myself and it was good! Price was decent. Service was great, with friendly staff. I have high sushi expectations and one of them is that my sushi roll stay in form when I pick it up to eat it. They didn't deliver that, every single piece fell apart. The service was alright but cold shoulder vibes the entire time. They seem to get more to go orders than sit down tables and they will prioritize Togo orders. Rolls were only alright for the price I don't get the hype that the 'chef' guy was rambling about. We had 3 different rolls and got the tiniest little smidge of Wasabi & pickled ginger. The sushi is delicious here, the chef really knows what he's doing & is so nice! He gave us a special sauce to try with our sushi and also gave our son a little plate of smoked salmon and rice for free while we waited. So it was very odd, went in two of tables were full rest of the restaurant empty around 6pm. Then we noticed the cook is also the host, bartender, waiter, and rolling the sushi all at the same time. We are new in town and are always blown away with how friendly and kind everyone is. No exception here! Most locals probably know Archie one of the owners but we were so pleased to meet him. He treated our 16 month old to a few extra bites of salmon, rice and miso. Our little one has never eaten so much in one sitting. 5 stars from the baby yelper too! Raised on SoCal sushi, our standards are pretty high--and Bandon Sushi absolutely delivered. The sushi chef did an outstanding job; every roll was crafted to perfection, and the fish was unbelievably fresh. The service? Spot-on. Friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. As for dessert, we couldn't pass up the bear claw from the bakery next door. We had to take it to go, but wow--so worth it. Just an all-around great experience. 10 out of 10. I'm a local. My friend & I stopped in after playing several hours of pool just up the road ~7pm on Saturday, July 27th, my second time, his first. The restaurant was ~80% full. We stopped inside the entrance and waited to be seated. After noticing staff occupied, we took an open 2-top next to the wall. (*) The seats have very low metal backs and were uncomfortable. I noticed one 6-top had better back support. We were promptly engaged by a friendly server, who gave us water & several menus to consider. Specials were listed on a menu instead of enthusiastically spoken. The restaurant din was uncomfortablly loud, excited tourist enjoying themselves in a restaurant where tourist traffic is counted on without acoustic buffers in place to reduce the sound so customers can enjoy a conversation. Our orders were taken promptly. We ordered one sunomono to share and one roll each. Nothing came out for 20 minutes, similar to my first visit when I ordered the same two items, yet far fewer people were present. As on my last visit on a Thursday at 6pm, there was one staff preparing food. The good news is the food served was excellent, delicious with nice visual garnish touches, and exactly as ordered. Prices were reasonable and predictable for a new location in a tourist town. Closeout was prompt and friendly. With more comfortable seating in the dining area, a little faster order prep, and some sound absorption, this is a 5-star location. I'll definitely return in a while to satisfy my sushi craving. read more

We came late last night for our daughter's birthday. She loves sushi. We were so excited to see it finally open. I have to say everything we had was amazing. It was probably the best sushi we have ever had and we've traveled quite a bit. This is going to become Bandon's gem of a restaurant. Our server was attentive and so caring to our family and daughters. They had specials and said the menu will change periodically which I love when using fresh high quality ingredients. Despite good reviews, we were disappointed by our recent visit to this new and much anticipated venue. We were told upon being seated that they were out of chicken and albacore (this was in the height of the local season). The main menu is confusing and there were three other menus presented, one for drinks and the other two for specials and another for their fall menu. Too many choices to contemplate! Our party of four ordered drinks and two rolls to start along with miso soup, which came in tiny bowls and was exceedingly salty. The rolls were fine though they came with miniscule dollops of wasabi and a paltry amount of ginger. The seaweed salad was more generous and flavorful but was very chewy. Two of us ordered noodle bowls with pork (the only other choice was tofu) which was very sweet and the pork was very fatty. The salmon lettuce wraps were swimming in a very spicy thai chili sauce that overwhelmed the fish and were accompanied by a few limp pieces of lettuce which were not up to the task of wrapping their contents. A vegetable roll was very attractive but difficult to eat as the pieces were so large and loosely stuffed. Although our server was pleasant, she never offered to refill water glasses or collected any of the used plates between courses until we pointedly stacked them. One of our group has been to many sushi places and was vehement in his poor opinion when the waitress asked if we'd enjoyed our meal. Although I wouldn't have been so negative with other diners nearby, I have to agree that it was lackluster at best. read more

My family and I love sushi and we love the fact we have local sushi in our town. They have so many rolls it was hard to choose from but I went with the Bandon Firecracker and Volcano Roll while my wife ordered the Joey Roll and all of my kids will forever love the classic California Roll. We did not have one piece of sushi left by the end so we ordered one more to share. Our servers name was Cassie and she was absolutely phenomenal, very friendly. Always excited seeing a new place in Bandon open up. We decided to go and support the new local place with the hopes of finding a gem. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. I hope things can improve. Food presentation was lacking. The dinner special was several pieces of uneven cut tuna flat on a plate swimming in a sauce. Not very pleasing to view and lacking in overall flavor. Rolls and Poke bowl had too much sauce. Cucumber salad was tasty, but a large bowl of slices. Again, not presented well. Miso was good although rather small serving. Edamame lacked flavor but just had lots of salt on top. Staff was friendly, but food came out late and in random order. Seems they need more staff. Only get one 1st impression. I worked for a Japanese company and recently visited Japan and have been to many small and large sushi restaurants. The food options, quality, and presentation really missed the mark. read more

Food was phenomenal and so was the service! We ordered several rolls and sashimi. The local seared albacore with ponzu was delicious and a very generous portion size. The spicy garlic edamame was also very good. For people who do not like raw fish, they also offered pork and chicken rolls, which were both very tasty. Overall all the food was well seasoned and well prepared. The cocktails were well balanced (we got a Kamikaze and a margarita).
