On arrival we got a miso soup followed by avalanche of different meats and vegetable. Try the soju shots with beer or on the rocks a traditional drink which pairs incredibly with the bbq. The atmosphere, food and service was incredible and very unique all sides of house made pickled and Kimchee vegetables where amazing, my wife was in Korea in February and said this was very authentic and brought back K Vibes . We tried Sumin's a couple of weeks ago and shared a dish called Bulgogi with Beef, steamed rice, hot and sour soup with salad. It was really good and we went again yesterday expecting another good meal. Hubby ordered Yokisoba noodles with beef and I ordered fried rice bowl with 2 egg rolls. The beef in his dish was tough and chewy and not as flavorful as he thought it should be. My fried rice was cooked kind of weird with mixed vegetables and didn't have cooked eggs. The egg rolls were fresh but seemed more like spring rolls instead of egg rolls with pork. We probably will not be coming back again. read more

Tried the new Korean bbq option. Make sure to tell your server that you would like to cook the food, like most Korean bbq places. She just started cooking everything at the table without giving us the option. Grill heat was on low with too much meat on at once and all the meats were just steaming, grey and gross After a few minutes of not enjoying the bad stir fry experience I asked if we could cook it, like all the other Korean bbqs I have been too. We turned the grill heat up and cooked a few items at a time and it ended up being great. Glad we spoke up, but overall not the best Korean bbq experience. While visiting my daughter who lives in Reedsport, Oregon, we decided to try Sumins, what a mistake! My granddaughter and I got the Katsu Chicken, so overcooked you could not eat it. I stopped here two times, once for lunch and the other for dinner. The first time we sat at the bar and I ordered the Deluxe chef's sushi and my husband ordered the Rainbow roll. My husband does not like seaweed and they were able to accommodate his selection. The service was amazing! We even took 3 more friends for dinner. Living locally, this has been the last sushi place for me to try. I've heard mixed reviews from other locals so I wasn't sure what to expect. Walked in just before 1:00 pm on a Thursday with my daughter. sat ourselves and waited for about 5 minutes to be acknowledged. Then I proceeded to go to the counter to order but was told to sit and someone would be with me shortly. another 10-15 pass and she waved at me. Then proceeds to go to a table that just sat down ignoring us. I then stand and tell my daughter we are leaving and the waitress starts yelling dont leave and tries to block me from standing. I brushed past her and yelled back that I don't like waiting 20 minutes to watch every other person be attended to but my daughter and I. No review on food as we never tried it and never will. Didn't even get a chance to try the food because the service was incredibly rude. I walked into the restaurant and a couple walked in behind me. They were seated first and I was just stared at by the server. I had to walk up to the cash register to ask for a seat at the sushi bar, where I was treated like I just barged in and interrupted their flow. I sat there and watched the waiter hand menus to the rude couple and serve three other tables without acknowledging me or handing me a menu. I won't be back at all just for that treatment. read more

I ordered Pho and pot stickers The best that I could figure was that they put some beef into hot water and then added a pack of dried noodles. She delivered this to my table. It was just a bowl of hot water and noodles, with pieces of beef. 5 minutes later she returned with a plate of cilantro, sprouts, limes, peppers and some sort of spice. I understand the cilantro and stuff, but was pretty confounded as to what I was supposed to do with the wet spice...or even what it was! The whole mess was bland and tasteless. The homemade pot stickers were overly salty.. AND no one ever came back to my table to give me a drink refill. These people have absolutely NO IDEA how to prepare pho. read more

The food here is soooo good! We couldn't decide where to eat in this small town, and ended up here. I'm so glad we did. Their dishes are packed with vegetables and the portions are huge! We ordered fried dumplings, kids beef teriyaki, teriyaki salmon, bibimbap, yakisoba, chef's special noodles, sushi and shashimi, kim chee and an extra spicy bowl of champong (seafood udon noodle soup). Went here for dinner last night & had the best service. We got 3 rolls to split between the 2 of us and our eyes were bigger than our stomachs!! Out of all three rolls, the veggie was definitely our favorite, but the Kamakazi and the Mango did not disappoint either! This is such a cute restaurant, the ambiance was low key and family friendly. Let me start off by saying I have been to Sumins a handful of times and I enjoy the food! However, today, I stopped in, and twice I was given dirty utensils. First a dirty spoon,so dirty that I wiped stuff off with the my napkin and still stuff remained. The second was a soy sauce bowl had old food stuck on it! Now the spoon was wrapped in a napkin, so I could forgive that, however, the bowl was brought with my food and very notable. I walked both back to the counter to get a clean one, and was kinda just blown off. Sure they gave me a new one, but it was like, almost, that this happens often. The waitress was like eh yeah, sorry, and shrugged it off. Needless to say, kind of curbed my appetite, especially since we are in the middle of a global pandemic, I had thought that cleanliness would be a top priority. Very disappointed read more

We have gone there twice while traveling through Coos Bay. My wife really enjoyed their sushi and she is quite discerning. I can no longer eat sushi due to a health condition and had to have a combo bento box. It was good, generous and flavorful. There was a sweet sauce on it that most people would like (mostly on the chicken) but I overwhelmingly prefer savory flavors. The beef had a nice smoky flavor that I enjoyed. The fried rive was generous and moist. My wife ordered me brown rice for my health but I think fried rice is better with white rice. Also, I enjoy the kind with egg, carrot and pea in it and the stir fried brown rice didn't have that. I am giving them four stars based on their overall quality but my criticisms are based as much as anything on my dietary restrictions. I can't blame them for that. read more

This was our first time to Sumins and we were very pleased! We both got the bentos which we felt were awesome value. I got the beef bulgogi and DH got the short ribs. Both were excellent. As was the California roll, tempura,-and house made potstickers that came with the bento. Their miso soup was definitely not from a package.
