We went here for an anniversary dinner. The atmosphere is dark and cozy, more like a pub. We sat at a table next to the bar. The ceiling looked like old decorative tin tiles. We had the crab cakes appetizer. I had a salmon dinner, my husband the sirloin tips. Our meals were very good. We had delicious desserts à la mode, one was like a moist chocolate brownie with Icecream and strawberries, one a fruit creme brûlée. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. He took our anniversary photo for us. We will like to come back again. Only other comment I'd give is that the stand alone tables, inside, seemed rather close quartered when all seats were used. (Edit, to say that we appreciate Kismets Landing had a bad night last night and because they reached out to make things right. Not everyone does this, so it is appreciated. We will return when summer winds down. So, please give them some grace.) My earlier post: First of all, we did make reservations since it is summer and quite busy this time of year; and let me say I have been to Kismets three times before and I was very happy. We have recommended it to several people we know, and brought our friends to dine last night, July 2nd. We were so disappointed. And we were embarrassed, having talked it up to our friends. Things started out okay; our waitress seemed young and possibly inexperienced, but we were okay with her lack of personality (no smile, no enthusiasm.) We had wonderful Brussels sprouts appetizer and the sushi roll was perfect, very beautiful to look at and equally delicious. I won't fault the guy who made them. But to begin with, we were given the small containers of wasabi and pickled ginger and chopsticks but no individual plates to enjoy the appetizers or sushi, and our waitress was not anywhere to be found for at least half an hour, but probably more. Our dinner finally arrived one hour and twenty five minutes after we had been seated. It was mostly good, but the huge lag in time and apparent indifference of our waitress really took the shine off the entire experience. My kismet tips had lovely flavor but was not evenly hot; for instance, some of the mushrooms were cool to lukewarm. My greatest gripe is the absolutely terrible service though. I cannot comprehend how the owner could be present in that room the entire time we were there and hardly looked at us at all and apparently was unaware of how poorly we were treated. (Was our order lost? why on earth did it take so long to be served?) read more

My husband and I love the food here...it's our date night restaurant whenever we are in town. The staff is friendly, the food is fabulous. It's nicely decorated and comfortable. Linen tablecloths, and the copper ceiling an elegant touch. Not at all what you'd expect. The bar is a center attraction, and if you're seated near by, you can watch the sushi hors d'oeuvres being assembled by the chef, beautiful plates, such an art! The Brussels Sprouts and Beef Tips appetizers are my favorite. The meals may be a bit higher in price, but it's well worth it. read more

My boyfriend and I were helping my Mom move, and stumbled across this gem when everything nearby was closed. We arrived starving and grumpy. It was a delicious and unexpected treat, that we absolutely needed though we didn't know we needed it. The owner and waiter were both really helpful with helping each of us choose the best dish. We shared a ceviche (tasty but not special), we all LOVED our entrees, and my glass of Chardonnay was exceptional. The chicken piccata was the standout dish. The bartender was also making the most gorgeous looking sushi rolls, which we will try next time. It's right on the water. There isn't a view from the restaurant, but it would be a perfect post dinner walk on dock for a date night. read more

The fish was good, but skimpy. the fries were like frozen shoestring fries - very disappointing. Coleslaw in to-go container, bland and also skimpy. The pride here is in the sushi, no doubt, other elements need more attention. I had the salmon belly on crispy rice, a small salad, and the ribeye steak medium. A lot of attention went into the sushi; certainly prepared with love and it was great! The crispy rice seemed a bit heavy for my taste but no deductions. The ribeye, although satisfying due to my need for dead cow after a few days of seafood, was too lean and chewy to make 5 stars. Same for the mashed potatoes and the side of diner-style veggies, which I felt were a bit unimaginative... The service was excellent, super attentive, and my server and everyone else asked me how I liked it. Well, I liked it.... good choice for dinner when in Reedsport! read more

Kismet's Landing is a great addition to the Reedsport restaurant scene. The entire building has been rehabbed and the interior has been tastefully decorated (site of former Waterfront Restaurant). Walls are a nice shade of blue with black wainscoting accented with black and white photographs; ceiling is of stamped copper, and tables are covered in black linen. We were there (as memory serves) on March 27, May 1, May 27 and May 30. Food always excellent - our favorites are the Kismet Tips and the chicken and or pork tenderloin Marsala. Also enjoy sushi and specialty cocktails such as the Northwest Huckleberry Drop. Owner Mia super friendly and a special nod to server Terra. read more

Last night was the third time we've been to Kismet Landing. Each visit was outstanding. The two times before we were part of a group of friends and sat in the large back room which accommodated us well and was quiet enough for conversation. We all loved it. Last night we celebrated our 45th anniversary and sat in the main dining room, which is very pleasant. We had the most wonderful waiter; he and the owner seem to work together seamlessly to make your drinks and take care of your every need. We started with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts which was an appetizer I remembered fondly from a previous visit. I'm usually not a fan of that vegetable, but I would order them time and again! I chose the Kismet Tips which was delicious, and my husband had the Petite Beef Tenderloin Steak with Mushrooms and his was done to perfection. Sides of vegetables and mashed potatoes were good too. We shared New York Cheesecake with fresh strawberries for dessert. It was made fresh in house by the owner and it was a lovely ending to our meal. I'm an experienced home baker and cook so I will admit, I'm sometimes hard to please; no worries at Kismet. The food is excellent from start to finish, and the service impeccable. We live in Florence, but we will certainly be back and we'll likely bring family when they come to visit. This restaurant is such a gem, and not to be missed. read more

Arrived on a Sunday not too many tables occupied. Waitress was great in the beginning with drinks and Apps . Entrees took a bit longer than anticipated. Chowder came out hot . Fish came out hot but slightly greasy. Fries came out warm if not cold pending on which side of plate. Coleslaw came out Warm which was not great. As more tables were filling up the one waitress was not enough. She went from real happy to pissy in like 1 hour .. May be back for sushi . Otherwise probably not. read more

In all fairness, we chose to eat at Kismet's on Valentine's Day. That being said, they greatly overextended themselves on that night. Perhaps reservations should not have been given for the back room. They obviously did not have the staffing in front or back of house to appropriately care for customers, and that will hopefully be a learning experience for them. It was an expensive reminder for me, and a clear warning about trusting this establishment in the future. It took over two hours to get our food. What we got was overpriced (for what it was) and underwhelming. Service was scarcely present, and at the end our server chose to shame us for expecting better instead of simply apologizing. That, actually, was the worst part and something I am not likely to get past. There are other restaurants in town (a fine alternative right next door) and I'm thinking they will be a better choice going forward. read more

Hands down the best sushi I've ever had. But it doesn't stop there... delicious main courses. My favorite is probably the locally caught salmon or black cod. But honestly, it's hard for me to get past the sushi, LOL. Kismet roll is always a winner and the Avocado Crispy Rice is topped with their house made garlic chili crunch, which is addictive. We are so fortunate to have Kismet's Landing in our area. Every time we have gone we have had an exceptional experience- beautiful ambiance complete with huge colorful local dahlias, wonderful service and great, fresh, beautifully presented food! Last night was no exception, although this time we were a large party of 12 celebrating 2 epic birthdays! We were so kindly accommodated (with advance notice, of course) received excellent service and everyone enjoyed their food and drink. We shared the brussels sprouts, albacore ceviche and beef tips appetizers which were devoured and created at least one new brussels sprouts devotee! Our entrees ranged from fish and chips to burgers, pork tenderloin, king salmon and smoked chicken linguini. The ginger pear martini is a favorite. Bravo! Thank you for such a great time! read more

I went to Kismit's Landing with a group of local neighbors to memorialize the loss of one of our friend's chickens. As with any good wake, a few good stories and a couple of drinks makes everything seem better! The inside is upscale and somewhat elegant looking. They have a nice copper ceiling, cloth napkins, table cloths, and are generally just a nicely decorated restaurant. It has the ambiance where you could go out for a special occasion, and is one of the nicer places in Reedsport. The group ordered crispy brussel sprouts which were delicious, and California rolls which I didn't try because I don't like them, but others said they were good. We also had drinks. I tried the Huckleberry cocktail and enjoyed it. (It's pretty sweet.) For my lunch, I had the smoked chicken linguini, which had a nice Alfredo sauce and a great flavor. It was a nice serving amount, so I took about half home for the next day's lunch. My friends ordered various items including salads, fish & chips, and smashed burgers and everyone said they enjoyed their meal. The service was friendly and attentive. The prices are slightly high, but not outrageous for today's market. Lunch will range around $20, dinner up to $50. Overall, we gave Iris the chicken a good send off, while enjoying a tasty meal, a few good drinks, and a lot of good laughs. Cheers to Iris in that heavenly coop in the sky! We had a wonderful experience here for our anniversary night out. I had the salmon and my husband had fresh halibut. Both of us give our dinners a 5 out of 5. Fish was cooked to perfection with a coconut rice and fresh veggies not over cooked. The pie for desert was home made by the owner and was delicious . This was our first visit to Kismet's Landing and it won't be our last! Twenty-five years ago, which was the last time I was in the building, it was a dark old bar. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautifully updated decor. They definitely thought out all of the details. We ordered two cocktails--the Northwest Huckleberry Drop and the Lemon Lavender Mojito. The Mojito was so fragrant with the mint and lavender garnish. We also had two sushi rolls--the California and the Kismet. Both were unique, fresh and were elevated with a PNW flair. Updated: 12-28-2024 Sushi was old, my coconut shrimp dinner came out over cooked close to burnt. Took 1 hour 50 minutes to get our order. Couple came in about 10 minutes after we did. They got their order finished eating before ours came out. Service was poor, had to ask for sushi setup after sushi was brought to our table. Server asked if we wanted refill on our coffee, 20 minutes later she came with coffee. Not a good experience. Will not be back. I was so excited about a new restaurant in our area.
