Given it was a Saturday evening there was plenty of outside seating compared to Tony's down the street and much less of a wait. Even though we were dining in, all the food came in to-go boxes with plastic utensils which I find wasteful. They didn't even have salt shakers to use in-house. We had to ask for salt for our fries and all they had was single use salt and pepper packets. A little surprising! The batter was a little thicker than I prefer and even cooked to a deep brown (not burnt) there were clumps against the fish that was still uncooked doughy batter. Stopped by for lunch on our way down to the Redwoods. There's plenty of parking right outside in the lot. The restaurant overlooks the water so there's a nice view from inside. The restaurant itself is small, clean, with a good amount of seating. We came in when the machine was broken so they only took cash. Thankfully, there's an ATM in the Bandon cafe down the street so it wasn't much of an issue. I ordered the dungeness crab and shrimp sandwich at market price which was around $21. A little pricey for a sandwich, but worth it. The sandwich was packed to the brim with fresh crab and shrimp. You have the option of coleslaw or fries. I chose the fries which were fresh and flavorful with a nice crunch. The sandwich was extremely filling and can easily be split between 2 people. I've been here at least 10 times in the past 10 years and I can tell you every time I come here I'm always happy that I did. The food is delicious and particularly this day, the customer service is fantastic. We were customers of the day and that was at about 11:15 AM. We normally don't eat at this place early and we had stayed at a really good hotel approximately a block and a half away called Bandon Marina Inn. I never even knew the Inn existed, but found it on Expedia. It was a five star stay by the way! I have brought my four daughters and stepson to this place multiple times, and we always love the freshness and quality of the fish and chips, including the fried clam strips. They always have a good selection of drinks, including beer and gourmet sodas. They also have clam chowder which I haven't tried yet, but I'm looking forward to having it. The young lady, the service today was welcoming and chipper. Fantastic customer service skills! Our food was made in less than five minutes and we pretty much had the place for another five minutes until the next customers arrived. We usually hear an evening and they do close early, so pay attention to the hours in the winter. Fish and chips we had was the cod and they are always amazing. The coleslaw was actually good as well with a nice vinegar bite to it. The fries were perfectly cooked and a nice crispness to them. And the claim strips or spectacular. It took 50 mins to get our order. While we waited others who had ordered after us got their food right away. When my husband went inside to inquire where our food was they found found it o a shelf. What a find! We each had the Lil' Matey and it was fantastic. The fish was light and airy with great flavor. The fries were perfectly cooked and, for a bonus, they dipped perfectly in the clam chowder which, on its own, was perfectly executed. The menu says the Lil' Matey is perfect for the smaller appetite but that undersells it. It was more than enough for this healthy eater and his growing child. I had to decrease my rating. Let me tell you what happened. I'm a tourist that comes through here at least once a year. I'm coming through right now to get a nice ling Claude sandwich. I walk inside and there's only about three customers total. They're competitor a few steps away has a full house. I go inside and walk up to the counter because there's absolutely no line. I see two young ladies and a young man in the back standing together chitchatting. Young man is cleaning his bare hands on his shirt while the other two young ladies are just chitchatting and talking. They're not doing business and they gazed over and looked at me. Is the only customer waiting to order because it doesn't even look like they're cooking any food because they're in between customers then they look back and just keep chitchatting again. They make me stand there for a little while so I decide to just go walk over to the competitor that has a full house. I want this youth to understand something: buying a house and doing all this stuff is getting more difficult but the way that you handle customers is Paramount. You may be able to socially isolate the other areas, but if you continue to treat customers the way you did with me today you're not gonna have any customers. But wait! Compared to your competitor you don't really have any customers and you're losing a lot of money and on top of that with minimum wage and everything you're costing the owner a whole bunch of money for what? So that you can have a high paying customer walk-in and you just look at them and don't even give them a common courtesy saying I'll be right with you sir. Goodbye. read more

We first discovered Bandon Fish Market two years ago and it was on the list to return to when we came back to Bandon. We learned our lesson from last time of ordering WAY too much food and limited it to our favorites this time. We split the halibut fish and chips as well as the salmon chowder. More than enough food to share for us. Their coleslaw is one of my favorites and we figured out last time that we preferred the salmon chowder over the regular chowder because it has a little bit of a spice to it. With another 1.4 hr to Florence for lunch we gambled on time here Yes took 18 mins but our party of 8 all got their orders at same time and it was fabulous. The local rockfish was fantastic and perfectly fried and crunchy on the outside but moist and flavorful on the inside, while the fried appeared to have a handmade breading and were also really good. The tartar sauce was slightly watery for my liking but still plenty flavorful and wasn't overpowering, good compliment to both the fish and chips. The smoked salmon shower I wish I could have taken a quart or more home, it is the perfect cold day on the coast kind of meal even by itself. The staff was friendly and helpful, even provided me with a free icepack to keep my leftovers preserved on the way home. We were unfortunately quite disappointed with our lunch last weekend. We ordered a halibut and a cod (& chips). The counter service was friendly, but service was very slow. We waited over 30 minutes for our name to be called. The fish looked pleasing, but there was no flavor. Shockingly little flavor if I'm being honest. And it wasn't one fish or the other...we each tried both types but neither one had any taste, almost like the batter hadn't been spiced at all. I ended up saturating mine in vinegar first and then tartar. (My hubby desperately resorted to dipping his in ketchup.) The cod meat was moist, but the more pricey halibut was somewhat dried out. The fries were good though, as was the toast. As for seating, minimal inside tables, more outside and along the pier. We've had so many good and great fish & chips along the coast, but unfortunately this lunch won't be on that list. The breading is perfect and the fries are slightly battered and fried to perfection. The cole slaw lacked a dressing so it just tasted like raw cabbage. I'd opt for a different side next time. Update at 45 minutes now. Waiting. Ok , it the end result, it was an hour. One of the locals waiting said it was normal. This is a spot where you and others are claiming a table or bench outside but your partner won't deliver the meals for an hour. By then our beers were warm and people asked if you are going to eat or what. The tables and seats are all unclean concrete that you have to just overlook No one wipes up the old ketchup. U get the image. The owner Mike B reads our Yelp. So I suggest a better organized kitchen. Maybe more equipment. From order to service an hour is silly. And the girl could have warned us.
