Some restaurants have great food. Some have great views. Lord Bennett's delivers both. The view alone is worth the visit. Whether you're watching the waves roll in or just soaking up the Oregon coast, it's one of those places where you find yourself lingering a little longer because the setting is just that beautiful. Food-wise, the standout for me was the Dungeness crab legs with red bell peppers and pine nuts in a garlicky white wine sauce, finished with Parmesan and just the right touch of cayenne, served with garlic toast. It was absolutely incredible. The sauce was rich and packed with flavor without overpowering the fresh crab, and the garlic toast made sure none of that delicious sauce went to waste. It's an absolute must-order. The service was just as memorable as the meal. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy making sure guests had a great experience. Staying a night in Bandon and wanted a good dinner spot. One of the higher Yelp-rated restaurants charges a $15 split plate fee, so we said "no". Lord Bennett's was still high in the ratings and since my wife and I almost always split our entrees, we went here. We don't mind a split fee in the $4-$5 range, especially when they do it for us, and many places then give you a little more of the side (in this case fresh veggies). Not only did they not charge a split fee, they split it for us. We started with a small Caesar Salad and a bowl of Clam Chowder. Both were excellent. We paired it all with a glass of King Estate Pinot Noir, one of our favorites (we're from Eugene, so we're biased). The main entree we split was the Pasta with Applewood House-Smoked Salmon. It was in a creamy white cheddar sauce with bow-tie pasta and was phenomenal. There is one other place we went that had a similar dish in Port Angeles. Fresh salmon and house-smoked is what does it, I think. Our server was attentive, but we were not rushed. She checked in periodically and never made us feel like they wanted us to just eat and go. The restaurant is also oriented to the Pacific Ocean and almost every table has an ocean view. Highly recommend. (One two-star review from a few months ago said they were "not impressed but if it were half the price it would have been good." We disagree). We felt the prices were VERY much in line with a nice dining experience, which this was. The salmon was $33, the small Caesar was $9, the Chowder was $8 and each glass of wine was $16. read more

The food was good and some flavors were really great. I loved the Asian inspired veggies and the rice was completely unexpected burst of flavors. Really lovely. The oysters on the 1/2 shell were not quite salty enough for my personal liking and quite small but were a lovely clean oyster and I appreciated that the staff replaced the puny one with two robust 1/2's. I did have to ask for horseradish and Tabasco but that's personal preference again. The staff were kind and helpful but whispering which gave off a bit of a "you shouldn't have fun here" vibe. Very much like Lord Bennett might come out and give one a good scolding if you were to boisterous. The halibut cheeks were not my favorite and I wasn't a huge fan of the wasabi style sauce they put on the ahi (it was a texture thing for me). Wow It says right on their menu that if they're busy, you should consider ordering takeout. Well, they were busy so that's what we tried to do but nobody seemed to know what was going on. Tried calling in first; said we had to come in person. Went in in person and was told to come back a little later because they were too busy to take the order. We should have just given up and gone somewhere else at that point because what we ended up with was some inferior bread, two stingy portions of really mid clam chowder, and some really nice plastic flatware, which was honestly the best part about this horrific meal and experience. read more

From the moment we walked in the door we were warmly greeted by the hostess, then the waitress and warm fresh bread once seated. A nice selection of items to choose from on the menu, full bar and good wine selection as well. We had such a wonderful meal, we already have reservations for another dinner while visiting in town. We had the Pasta with Applewood House-smoked salmon. With side veggies done perfectly. Pacific Ling Cod nicely prepared with rice pilaf and veggies done perfectly also. I believe this restaurant to be Bandon's best version of an upscale Seafood restaurant. Other than going to Bandon Dunes Golf course. Amazing view of the beach and sea stacks. Watching the ocean waves crash of the sea stacks and beach is part of the allure. We arrived about a half hour before sunset. I asked to be seated by a window. Be sure to do that. So, we were treated to a wonderful, colorful view of the sunset as it dipped below the ocean and lit up the sea stacks. Our cocktails were delicious. Crab cake appetizer was perfectly cooked with lots of crab. We split a house salad which was typical, but large enough to share and good. I had the nut encrusted Halibut. The coating was perfectly seared and halibut not overly cooked. Very savory and delicious. My husband had the lingcod. Also tasty and cooked perfectly according to him. Service was attentive and came with a smile. The staff is so friendly and welcoming there. We really enjoyed our visit and meal! Plus the views make it extra special!! read more

We have gone to Lord Bennett's for years and it has been consistently wonderful. Sunday June 7th my husband returned for dinner. Everything went as usual until the brought the bread, which was much smaller in portion. Then our meals arrived. I paid $12.00 for sautéed prawns, 3 of them. $34.00 for a tiny hard to chew steak. My husband ordered the "seafood platter" only to get 6 small clams, a few scallops and prawns with a large amount of rice buried by too many vegetables. The quantity and quality of the food has significantly decreased. It was disheartening and very expensive for a dinner thst was hardly eatable or filling. We dined at the Wheelhouse the next night and it was superior in both quality and quantity. We will not return. read more

Just when I thought my birthday celebration for my senior parents was ruined by a regrettable experience in Coos Bay (see my last review), we decided to try again the next night. This time we ventured to nearby Bandon, selecting Lord Bennett's Restaurant for the incredible view of the Oregon Coastline and sun set. Talk about a 180! From the atmosphere to the staff to the incredibly delicious food- they scored a 10 out of 10. After having a nice glass of wine, we placed our order and indulged in a special bread basket filled with French bread and cranberry pound cake. For starters, we selected the clam chowder (perfectly seasoned) and the artisan dinner salad with raspberries and feta. Our entrees were the King Salmon (Chef's special), the Ling Cod, the Grilled shrimp and a filet mignon. Each fish plate came with a large portion of fresh vegetables and a delicious rice pilaf. The filet came with fresh vegetables and a baked potato. It was wonderful! Too full for dessert, we capped the celebration with a complimentary tray of pecan pastry bites that reminded me of the perfect pecan pie. Thank you to Lord Bennett's management, Chef and service staff. You made our birthday celebration memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant to those who appreciate fine dining and top notch hospitality. We look forward to returning. read more

We have been going here for years and years when we come to Bandon. We just had a wonderful dinner, the halibut cheek special that was delicious while looking out at the wonderful view. This is a very good restaurant. It has high-quality food that is prepared very nicely. My husband had a seafood dish that included red snapper. He enjoyed it immensely. Awful dining experience colored by barking dog in the restaurant. Came here for my wife's birthday dinner. I'm allergic to dogs and have no interest in dining with them. They allowed someone to bring in their husky and lay under the table during peak dinner hours. As I'm bringing my drink to mouth, the dog starts aggressively barking at full volume startling everyone in the restaurant. As for the food... Cranberry Moscow mule: taste like cranberries. Alcohol undetectable. "Crabless" cakes: they said there was Dungeness crab inside. No evidence found. Lamb: haven't had anything this bony outside of an Indian curry house. The whole experience was utter mediocrity. The price and quality left me feeling gypped. This place is an Outback Steakhouse/Red Lobster tier establishment with a view but worse because at least Outback and red Lobster have the decency to prohibit animals in their dining space. read more

Amazing food and service. We have stayed at The Sunset Inn across the street several times and always planned on dining at Lord Bennetts and this time we did and we are both happy we did . We both had the filet mignon. I had it with scallops. He had it with the jumbo prawns and they are both fantastic. We had another great meal here. Our fish specials were delicious with 3 separate vegetables and their tasty rice pilaf. We always enjoy the house made breads brought right away and the special salad, which is enough for us to share. We appreciate that the kitchen does the split. The price was very fair, when considering how awesome this restaurant is. Had the crusted Halibut which was the best ever, with perfectly cooked veggies and a scoop of rice pilaf. 0 Stars. Worst experience ever. Horrible staff who complained as we entered. The staff verbally and insultingly complained to the bar staff who then looked at us and rolled her eyes. I then told my family to wait as I needed to verify what I saw. I told the bar staff to save it while I approached the staff lady who was seating us. I told her I saw what she did and said and she flat out admitted it, apologized and knew she was caught. I asked for the manager (knowing damn well I sounded like an uptight whiney entitled person-for which I felt horrible for in front of a bunch of patrons, but will not allow myself and family get treated like second d class citizens) ....and she said she was the manger. Shocked. Absolutely embarrassing and mortified by this behavior. I told her she knew better as the manger and it was unacceptable, grabbed family and left. Do not go here. The views of Face Rock were amazing. The server could have spent some time knowing about certain ingredients used for the entrees. The kids fish and chips looked good and my son ate the whole thing. The vegetables with my Ling Cod were tasty and plentiful as were for my wife's stuffed chicken. The presentation for the Marion Berry was very disappointing. read more

I'm wishing Yelp had a half star rating system. Four stars feels generous, but our experience was above a 3. We ordered for pick up and got the artisan salad, baseball cut sirloin with scallops and a cup of clam chowder. The salad was as described and good. They added chicken which was an up charge and not requested. We didn't have an itemized receipt so not sure if we were charged for that. The steak was great. The scallops were okay. There were a lot of sides- asparagus, scalloped potatoes (potatoes were inconsistent in texture, some were done some were not), mushroom and pea mix (very salty), and corn. I wish they had opted to just include a couple and provide a bigger portion. With just a couple bites of each it felt a bit like a potluck that was hit or miss. The clam chowder was watery and I think we found one tiny piece of clam in the whole cup. If you plan to order take out, be aware that they charge an 18% gratuity. I appreciate that they alerted us to this prior to placing our order. read more

Fabulous views, superb service, decent food. I ordered the smoked salmon pasta. It was a bow-tie pasta, which was a bit odd, and the cream sauce- such as it was- was quite thick. This dish would have been better with a thinner sauce and served over fettuccini. My husband ordered the filet mignon medium rare, which came out medium to medium well. I recently celebrated my anniversary by taking my family to Lord Bennett's. We were staying right next door at Sunset Ocean Front Lodging so it was very convenient to basically walk out the door to dinner. I really enjoyed the bread and butter, along with the carrot ginger soup. Both were excellent. Service was good too and the service was very kid friendly. The views are as good as it gets since the upstairs dining room has views of Bandon Beach. This is a great restaurant to celebrate special occasions. I give everything here a 5 except for I don't think the entrees were all that creative. The food tastes good though. read more

Fantastic halibut and the view is pretty good too. I stopped here for dinner on a business trip with clients. I had no idea what to expect because our office planned it, and boy was I surprised. The halibut was delicious and generously portioned. The wait staff was very pleasant and worked hard to serve our group well. This place is definitely in the ranks of fine dining. It was our second visit to Lord Bennett's but the treatment was the same both times. The food is absolutely the best in Bandon, but the treatment by the hostess, bartender and server left so much to be desired that the food was hardly worth the humiliation! On our last visit with out-of-state guests, we asked the hostess for a table with a view of Face Rock. She said she didn't know what Face Rock was (the restaurant's focal point!) and noted she had no other tables. The restaurant was only about 1/3 full at the time and it never got much more than 1/2 full the entire evening! Her attitude was "like it or lump it" and actually embarrassed us. Our guest ordered an Old Fashioned to drink. When it came, he asked the waitress to return it because it wasn't sweet enough, asking that the bartender add more sweetener, which she did. Later on, he ordered another and it was delivered the same as the first one and had to be returned for more sugar. His third Old Fashioned was the same result! You have to imaging that with a half-empty restaurant, he was probably the ONLY guest ordering Old Fashioned's, but the bartender simply REFUSED to serve him as it was requested. Shame on the bartender AND the server. 3 times to return the same drink is ridiculous and shows a complete lack of respect for their customers. The food was good, but with a crappy table and crappy service, it will probably be a cold day in HELL before we come back for more abuse. read more
