Food 4/5 Servix To-go only and containers 2/5 Finally made it here after a year. They open at 11:30. Food is to-go, though, you can sit at a table and eat it but it is still in to-go containers. We ordered a miso soup and sushi combination that comes with a salad, 2 tuna & 2 salmon nigiri sushi and 8 pieces of California roll. This was plenty for 2 for lunch and would be great even for dinner. The miso was ok and the sushi combo was good. The fish was fresh and tasty. The roll was good, too. I'm not especially into rolls but it is good for lunch. The salad was fresh and good sized. It came with what tasted like a mayo based dressing but I made my own with rice vinegar, sugar and a bit of sesame oil. I have to say I'm surprised it was that good. The sushi was better than expected for a to-go place. I really don't like to-go containers. I even bring my own to restaurants so I don't add to the plastic or styrofoam problem so this will be the dilemma in deciding whether to come back here. Maybe I can convince them to give it to me in parchment or in my own containers. I would love if this place would open for regular lunch and dinner service. This would be a great addition! read more

Waited 20 minutes for them to open. Sign said take out only but I was able to sit inside at a table. Sushi was OK. Nothing spectacular. And the only thing they had to drink was bottled water. The lady behind the counter was very pleasant. Otherwise I would've given it. One less star. I won't come back. read more

Hands down or should i say dashi down, the best Japanese resto in the Roseburg area. Delicious and fresh sashimi/sushi. Great flavors in the teriyaki and ton katsu. Will try the yakisoba, tempura and the other sushi delicacies we missed this time. read more

I ordered there vegetarian sushi roll. They only had 2 options for vegetarian. The sushi rolls were salty and just gross. I ended up throwing the meal that I ordered. Avocado and rice sushi rolls is what I had ordered. The service and customer service of the place was really good. The seating area was very simple and cute. read more

Since service is just as important as food quality I have to give 1 star. I approached the owner after spending nearly $20 in food at lunch time and politely asked to borrow the wifi password. She told me she could not give it out even after I told her it was for a serious business meeting. When I tried to reason with her she would not try and listen just started telling me "no English". I had an Internal debate on whether to post this but I decided it speaks to customer service. When an owner obviously doesn't want to be helpful, its tough. But then to smile and say "no English" rather than trying to understand a paying customer. read more

After experiencing fake Japanese food all around the area it was great to walk in and find Japanese people making food. The décor is a blend of small diner and Japanese cafe but they make it work. The are shoji screens on all the windows which both adds to the ambiance and makes it look uninviting from the outside. The food: delicious! We had the miso soup, inari, shrimp tempura, and a Bento box-a combination plate. My wife says the tempura is nice and light, not heavy-just perfect! We'll be back so my wife does not have to miss food from home. read more

QUICK, Take Exit 119 and turn right at the second light! Nice people, 100% hand made to order sushi and decent pricing. Sushi isn't know for being a bargain, but this is not terrible. Looks and smells fresh and clean. I was in there on a Saturday evening and they actually had to close early because they were running out of food. THAT TELLS A STORY! They don't have so much seafood on hand that it ever gets old. They sell it off! Far better to have them run out of something than have them serve you old fish. I love this little joint. read more

The outside isn't that great looking. The inside was better. Not that, that's super important, but I mean it helps. What helped was the sign though. Not a lot of sushi places around in this part of town, looked interesting enough to give it a go. I swear these people here were smart to open this place here. Not a lot of Asians here, except for family and them. Probably the only full Japanese people here to be honest, well that I've seen, it's pretty cool that there is this restaurant in the middle of American food or pizza places and fast food. So I had the Bento Box A - comes with teriyaki chicken or spicy teriyaki chicken, 2 pieces fried dumplings, salad, 4 pieces of their California Roll, rice, and of course, miso soup prior to getting your meal. The food is definitely Japanese, nothing seemed "fake" I mean its still different from Hawaii and I'm sure it's even more different from Japan, but I have to say it was really good, considering what I'm used to. I would eat here again and maybe try more sushi because the California roll is not real Japanese sushi haha, but I get skeptical with the rice sometimes, I'm guessing because maybe the water or the temperature around everything, which can affect the cooking, but they're Japanese, so I mean I'm sure they know what they're doing. The waitress was not very friendly, and a bit short when answering questions. The food took along time to get to the table. As for the sushi. Some of the items they did not make on site[the egg omlette] or were out of , which was disappointing, since those were items I was hoping to order. The rice, which is the most important part of sushi was not cooked or seasoned properly . The rice "pads', which the fish sits on, were very inconsistent in both size and shape, and there was no wasabi between the rice and fish. It seemed that some of the fish [sea clams] were not fresh or not prepared properly. Some of the sushi was sloppy in the preparation and presentation.{since we eat first with our eyes} The vegetable roll had lettuce and raw asparagus as an ingredient, and to me were very strange ingredients. I am not to sure whether I can recommend this place. But unfortunately, here in Roseburg, there are not many sushi options. Prices are a bit higher than I think a place like this can command. They charge $6.90 for a California Roll, which is higher than what you find in the bigger cities. Perhaps it's because this is a small town and there isn't a lot of competitors in the same food type. Menu was too simplified. I wanted more sushi or sashimi platter options. The place is very cozy and is very cute. Service is warm and courteous. The fish is very fresh and their rolls are packed perfectly. I would come here any day over the fast food options around here. read more

Lady kicked me out after spending 10 minutes in the lobby as she just mad dogged me then out of nowhere told me to wait outside. This place is a gem and one of the few restaurants in the Roseburg area worth eating at. I have been here four times before over a couple of years and my husband finally agreed to visit (he couldn't believe a quality Japanese restaurant could be in the parking lot of a Pay Less grocery store not far from I-5. Teach him to doubt me! He had quite an appetite and was encouraged by the quiet atmosphere with music playing very softly in the background We were the only ones there after two couples left shortly after our arrival. Every time I have visited there have been only two or three other tables occupied (out of the six...seven?) although people would come in to pick up take out. I'm surprised the place isn't packed, especially with the traffic from I-5. The rice paper on the windows had been ripped in a few places since my last visit, a result of what looked like intentional poking from some idiot. We shared a vegetable and shrimp tempura appetizer. Two large shrimp and a slice of zucchini, sweet potato and yellow radish. Hot, crispy and yummy! I had had this as an entree before and it has never disappointed. He had 3 orders (2 each) of nigiri sushi: tuna, clam and eel. Served on a raised wooden platter/block along with "wasabi" and ginger,They were delicious and got high marks from him. Our entrees were yakisoba noodles with chicken for him; I had the tempura udon soup. One nice feature was the small bottle of nanami togarashi on the table, a blend of japanese peppers, white and black sesame seeds and other spices (no salt or MSG). . My soup was flavorful and packed with some of the best udon noodles I've had, green onions and garnished with a large tempura shrimp. The chicken served with his noodles was tender and flavorful. The noodles/ slivered vegetables were too oily for me (my personal taste/diet includes little to no oil), but were right up his alley. To finish off his meal, he ordered a soft shell crab off the appetizer menu. He was a bit hesitant about ordering a half hour before closing time(8:30), but he needn't have worried. This may have been the highlight of his meal. It was crispy fried and he ate the whole thing, legs and all in about a minute and a half! This meal, along with green tea and a refillable soda was $59 The waitress was delightful and efficient -- the soft slurping on my straw in any empty soda brought her to table side almost immediately asking if I would like another. She joked with us a bit and was so gracious. My husband, who does not go out that often, stated he would eat here "morning, noon and night'' if he could, as it brought back joyful memories of his being stationed in Sasabo Japan in 1965-67. What a surprise! Recommended to us by a wine tasting room employee, we set off to find this former burger joint transformed into a Japanese Restaurant. Sitting down in one of the "booths" we ordered 2 lunch Bento Boxes, spicy chicken, California Roll, Rice, Salad as well as one of the "state" sushi rolls. They have a nice variety of rolls that are named after various states, it's fun to see what they put together. Ours was the Alaska Roll which had crab and salmon, how can you go wrong? The fish was fresh and the food was all well prepared. We had brought in a bottle of wine that we thought would go nicely with sushi, however, they had no openers. Being the boys scouts we are, always prepared, we went out and got ours and the owner went back and found us two wine logo glasses from a former festival, as she explained that all they carried was "Japanese Wine" AKA Sake and therefore didn't use wine glasses. I really really wanted to like this place. The staff here is extremely friendly & attentive, the place is very small & cozy, and after all, you don't really have many Japanese restaurant choices in the area. However, it was hard for me to ignore the problems listed below: The sashimi tasted old and unfresh. I understand this is Roseburg which may not be as easy to get fresh raw fish. Still, the quality is very disappointing even for Roseburg standard. The rolls are small, loose and the avocados look like it's been sitting around too long that the color doesn't look right. This is the first Japanese restaurant I've been to that charge you for hot tea. The best dish here is probably their Korean BBQ. The taste is not bad but it is kind of tough to chew. The staff is very friendly. The menu is the standard japanese restaurant menu. The prices are a bit high. Starving for a diet friendly meal of sashimi I used my iPhone to locate a Sushi restaurant along the 5 in a pretty desolate part of Oregon. When I spotted the place I began to worry... It has a drive through?! That is a bad sign for quality.... I parked and went in. Apparently this was once a fastfood place of some sort in the past. The new owner had done a remarkable job of redoing the interior to take away the fast food feel. The first thing that came was my diet coke, usually not worth mentioning in a yelp review... It tasted pretty bad. Should the owner ever read this... ditch the fountain and just serve soda cans. The miso started out nice with fresh cut green onion, unfortunatly the flavors finished a bit like it had come from a can... What did I expect for a dollar?! Now for the sashimi...it was passable. Unfortunately I don't know enough about local standards so I'm going to have to rate this based on my San Francisco standards... I give the food two stars and the very friendly service two stars. I have lost count of the many lunches we have had here as a family. We moved from downtown Portland, Oregon where we enjoyed all the different dinning cultures and several Sushi establishments. We were worried the Roseburg area would be void of sushi. How pleasant it was when we found Sushi-N Rolls! And they are absolutely as good as the sushi restaurants in Portland! I went here for my sixteenth birthday dinner and had a great time. 3 people, eating to the point of being full, for $60. Not bad at all. Before leaving Roseburg my dad and I wanted to get some sushi. I found the highest rated sushi restaurant in town, which was Sushi & Rolls. I am so thankful that we went! They were preparing to close as we got there, but said we could do take-out. As we were waiting for our 3 rolls and seaweed salad, Chun, one of the owner's brought us out savory tea to drink while waiting. She then stopped to talk with us for quite a while. Once we got our food we went and ate outside as it was warm. While we were enjoying the delicious sushi, Chun brought us out bowls of miso soup at her husband's suggestion. Wow!! This was easily the best miso soup I have had. My dad and I have tried a lot of sushi, and this was some of the best. We tried the 911 (my personal favorite), which was advertised as very hot, but was not too hot to handle. We also tried the spicy tuna, which was delicious, and another roll that I forget the name of. The sushi was rolled very well, and didn't fall apart at all. The seaweed sushi was crunchy and delicious. I recommend this restaurant for the quality of food, and excellent customer service. read more
