Be careful of the pet protection plan... 100% not worth it, it auto renews which I explicitly said I didn't want and was presented to me that it does not. While I do take the responsibility for not reading the fine print: I don't appreciate the high pressured sales pitch and manipulation tactics. I stopped going there months ago. They are only about the $$, they are trained to upsell you, manipulate the final price at every turn. Find a better vet that cares about the pets and not $$. read more

A was adopted by a stray kitten a week ago (lol) and wanted to get him to the vet asap to make sure he was healthy. Well actually, I thought he was a she haha. I love that I was able to book an appointment online for 2 days from the day I found him (found him on a Saturday, booked an appointment for Monday). Their hours are convenient for busy moms like myself who are juggling work, taking kids to practice, etc. I like that they offer wellness plans where you pay monthly and it covers unlimited vet visits. I don't like that it's a year long contract, though. And even if your pet passes away, you're still obligated to pay off the contract. That's pretty cold if you ask me, but I digress. I did have to wait a bit to be seen, but it wasn't too bad. The vet was extremely friendly and helpful. I had never dealt with such a small kitten before. My other cat was 2 years old when we got her. So the vet gave me lots of tips and advice which I found very useful. Overall we had a good first experience and hopefully we continue to have positive experiences here. read more

Worst experience hands down when I went the other day. I spend $100 a month on a vet plan just to go there the other day and spend $544. I was given no determination on what the illness result was just given medicine that's meant for diarrhea instead of vomiting which I brought my pet in for, given a cd of the X-Rays but they didn't even work on the cd so Basically who knows if they even did a X-ray. Blood work was just thrown at me on a piece of paper and the doctor didn't even come talk to me after words just had me pay my bill and go. If I truly could get a refund I would because this experience was the worst thing I have ever experienced and it did not help my pet at all. We ended up going to the pet ER. read more

I have been taking my two pups to Banfield in Abingdon since they were 8 weeks old. We went initially with a "free exam" coupon and we fell in love with Dr. Lewis and the staff. We purchased the puppy wellness plan after weighing the cost and it has been wonderful and has given us peace of mind, especially since one of my babies has developed some skin allergy issues. Ok since April my German shepherd puppy has gotten all of his shot up to today. Explain to me why when he was 10-11weeks old we all know puppies are in the biting and chewing stage which is normal. The vet at the bel air one told me that I needed to get him to stop doing it ok that's fine since then I have been working with him to get him to stop. He doesn't do it with everyone he sees or at home. The second visit he had to get more of his shots they decided to distract him with a king and peanut butter inside of the kong so they could do the things they needed to do. This time today they decided not to do anything to distract him and the vet pinched him hard enough to do the booster shots and my puppy turned and mouthed her. Needless to say he didn't leave marks and didn't draw blood either. So the vet decided to tell me that I wasn't training my puppy not to bite. I'm sorry but he is being trained to protect not to be a gentle giant towards strangers. And maybe if you were nicer about pinching him maybe he wouldn't of mouthed you. After the entire conversation with the vet over my puppy mouthing her hand she had the nerve to tell me I needed to find a another vet. Because my German shepherd puppy did that to her. Do not take your puppies here if they are still in the biting and chewing stages. They think everyone has the money for puppy training and obedience school. I have raised many German shepherds and they all grew out of the biting and chewing stage by the time they were a year old. read more

Avoid!! This place is very disorganized and loves to give you one quote then raise the price when you go to pay. We had a few masses removed from our English mastiff and during the whole process all they seemed interested in was selling us more services. I had 3 separate quotes and none matched the final bill. On top of all that the work done looks rushed. The incisions where poorly sutured and appear uneven. We are going to follow up with another vet, no chance in hell I would ever use these folks again! read more

Don't know why I'm paying $180+ a month for pet insurance, to be told they're fully booked for 5-7 days every time my pet has something going on (non stop diarrhea today) . I've been told this multiple times this year. Instead, being told to shell out hundreds of dollars at the ER- which i have- or to call around to other Banfields to get an appointment. The last time I even brought my dog into this Banfield (our home Banfield) was early this year, ONE time. Equally as hard to get appointments at the other ones. Don't get me wrong, the vets and techs are great! I've been with Banfield for years now but lately this is seemingly not worth the monthly insurance. Disappointed about how it was handled today. My dog has non stop diarrhea for 2 days, I'm very concerned, yet no help or empathy, just 'we're booked for 5 days'. Over this bs. Got 3 pets here and have been upset about this non availability all year, thinking about canceling. read more

Avoid going to any banfield. I've been to numerous locations and they all seem to care about money. I've been to more than one with all of my pets and I have only liked one vet and yes she's at this location and she is fantastic and really does seem to care BUT to me banfield is just a money pit. I use to live in NJ since my boyfriend and I were in the military and stationed there and that's where we took our cat to get spayed. Which was a complete nightmare. Not only did the vet poorly stitch her closed her stitches came open. she wore her cone constantly so it was not do to excessive licking..so I bring her back with a hole in her belly to only be forced to hand her over the counter at check in since so many people were there waiting for a room and as I was waiting I could hear my cat screaming in the back. Now I'm angry because they didn't tell me what they were doing to her so after 5 mins they bring her back with an old dry towel wrapped around her that felt like a used dish cloth and was wrapped so tight she could not walk. The lady then tells me they put in stitches again...that means they literally held her down and stitched her shut again which was traumatic for her. Oh and then the old rag they decide to wrap around her only ripped out her stitches again so I ended up just loosely wrapping her in actual bandages to help her heal and she's perfectly fine. We also have three dogs and apparently all three of our dogs have tick borne diseases??? My boyfriends dogs went to the nj location where they told us that one has lymes and the other has another tick disease. So that was $800. Then later I got my dog who now sees the vet at this location but they wanted to do a teeth cleaning on her since I'm paying for the highest plan because she had to have X-rays in the past. So this plan includes teeth cleaning which I would never do at her age considering she's so young and her teeth are pearly white and it would be unnecessary stress. Seriously she's only one and doesn't need to be put under for a teeth cleaning. Despite her age and the fact that her teeth are perfectly fine they called asking to schedule her an appointment for it. They don't think about the dogs wellbeing just the money. So instead of going to this location I scheduled an appointment for bel air since they actually had an opening vs this location being booked out till April. So I got same Day appointment with bel air after calling but we ended up waiting so long and as we were waiting a dog was having a seizure at the groomer there and the vet literally said "oh great" and didn't even rush to go see the dog. So after a while of standing there we get a room where the vet was nice but really awkward. He then decides to give my dog 6 different shots because he wanted to put everything on the same schedule even though she wasn't due for them yet. Then she gets her heart worm test and then proceeds to tell me she popped positive for lymes disease...which is funny because the last time she was at the vet she got the lymes disease vaccination. So he then tells me well she has no symptoms so just be sure to watch her...he also stated they either have it or they don't. So he told me he could treat her or bring her back when she starts getting symptoms...who says that????? Does my dog have it or not?!?!! I know tick illnesses are becoming more common but what are the odds that all three of my dogs have it???? It's BS. So I told him I know those tests are sensitive and are not completely accurate because my boyfriend and I read about them before. My boyfriend and I also apply flea and tick preventative regularly and they do not roam free wherever they please. We live in a development where they have to be walked. So the vet asked if we want to do other tests to narrow down what she may have...this makes no sense to me considering the test they used could not give a definitive answer yet they were able to tell the exact diseases my other dogs had?? I'm paying $62 a month just for my dog and they just want me to keep buying other services. So now I'm suspicious and plan on taking my dogs to an actual vet to get proper tests and competent staff. I would rather pay them a lump sum vs large monthly payments. Oh I also cancelled my cat's plan months ago but I still continued to get charged and when I called back they said they had no record of me calling.... which is also the same thing they told my mom since her dogs were under the plan too. Seriously don't waste your money here. If you care about your pets go somewhere else. read more
