Chestertown Animal Hospital - Blood from a shot on her little arm

Don't trust this place or the vet!! They gave my kitten an bad infection!!!…read moreWhen I initially took my kitty in for pre spay shots, my kitty was extremely calm sitting on the table as they overlooked her and handled her. They even mentioned how well mannered she was. They took her in the back for shots and came out and said my kitty bit a vet tech and they were going to have to report us to the health department. Mind you my kitty has never shown aggression before. They also mentioned they had an hard time giving her the shot (finding the vein!) She had a bandage on her arm and when I took it off she was bruised and a nice amount of blood on the bandage. That's alot of blood for a little kitty arm! Of course a cat will bite when you mishandle them like that!!! Not only do they charge an astronomical amount for the spay ($1000+) but they also gave my kitty an infection in the process (caused by them!) and had me pay for it! My poor kitty was extremely lethargic and sickly for over 2 weeks, we were so scared she wasn't going to make it!! They acted like I was the problem, again. I have to pay for their mistakes and they almost killed my kitty. This was nothing but a nightmare and now I tell everyone...stay far away from here!!!

Dr. Scofield did a perfect job on recent surgery for my small dog who also has a heart murmur. She was very reassuring and everything turned out better than expected. She listens and works with me which makes me feel like we are a team helping my dog live a healthy happy life.

We were roomed quickly and waiting a reasonable length of time to see the doctor. He was excellent as was our tech. They made a stressful situation way more bearable. I would definitely come back if another emergency arises (hopefully not). Prices to be expected with it being an ER vet. Clean too! Thank you guys!

STAY AWAY! THEY ALMOST KILLED MY CAT!!!…read more We brought my sick cat in on a Saturday because we suspected he had a UTI. We were told he did not have a UTI, was diagnosed with FIC, and that there was little that could be done other than reducing stress. On Monday, my regular veterinarian learned about the visit and strongly urged us to bring him in for a follow-up. After examining him, they diagnosed a severe UTI and told us he was in very bad shape. His testing showed blood, pus, and infection in his urine. Had my veterinarian not insisted on seeing him, we likely would have followed the ER vet's advice that his symptoms would simply "come and go" and not seek further treatment. It's frightening to think about what could have happened if we had waited. When I contacted the ER clinic regarding the misdiagnosis, I was told that the test results were "open to interpretation." That response is deeply concerning given the seriousness of my cat's condition. Our visit left us with a misdiagnosis, $500+ bill, and cat that almost died. Please learn from our experience and don't let our story be yours...It may save your pet's life!

My cat, Garrus, has had several urinary track blockages over the years, and when he had his third…read moreone the vet suggested it would be best for him to have a perineal urethrostomy (PU) rather than going through the unblocking process again. I live in Montgomery County, where the cost of everything is approximately 10x what it is anywhere else, and there was no possible way I could afford the anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 that it would cost for him to have surgery in MoCo. The vet who'd recommended the surgery in the first place gave me the contact information for this clinic. I was very surprised and a little skeptical that they would only charge $975 for the surgery, but they were able to fit him in later that same day considering the urgency. Originally, they said he would go home later in the afternoon, but they changed their mind and decided to keep him overnight at no additional cost due to it already being mid-afternoon when he had the surgery. Overall, it was a very good experience, and I highly recommend them. Their costs are much lower than anything you can find closer to the DMV, but their work is still very high quality. My cat didn't have any issues after the surgery, and several weeks later he's well on his way to going back to normal.

Don't let the name fool you, they don't just do spaying and neutering. Our cat ate some yarn and…read moreour vet recommended surgery for removal just in case. Our own vet wasn't able to perform an object removal surgery. With the vet surgeon they recommended and also calling around to several places most wanted anywhere from $5000-9000, which seemed outrageous to me. Luckily one vet surgery office overheard me saying "we can't afford that" and recommended calling Spay Now. They were able to fit us in day of and it only cost us $715. They told us it might cost more, but they charged us the lowest possible price first, then after an exploratory surgery to cut open our cat, the surgeon called us personally and told us she was able to push the yarn into his colon and wouldn't need to do any other surgery. The surgery itself was slightly cheaper due to a military discount and we loved how the vet called us personally and answered any questions we had and also that they could fit us in so quickly. I would definitely recommend them if you don't have great pet insurance or if you're wanting to price shop. They gave me a price range on the phone. Worth every penny!
