Murdered my dog pretty much. They gave unnecessary vaccinations and kept suggesting procedures and x-rays that costs $5000. Pulled out his teeth and then claimed a tooth fell out and I would have to pay 2,000 to pay more (Like, what are you talking about?) . Every time my dog would recover, he would get sick after seeing them. They would try to promote their medicated dog food as the solution. They just make animals sick so they can get paid a lot of money. Would never recommend this place. Like any vet services, this place is expensive, but that's to be expected. What I do like about it, is that it is located inside a PetsMart. So I can always pick up treats, toys, food, or get my dogs groomed (which I do, here, monthly). My Rottweiler has really bad anxiety and it's been hard getting her to be seen because she's afraid and won't even let them examine her ears. But Banfield has been able to successfully build a good relationship with her and today she had an amazing visit. She was scared and cried the whole time but they worked with her to make her comfortable they didn't give up on her and for that I'm forever grateful. They will NOT let you get out of the wellness plan before a year. They never answer their phone, the 24 hour line is only useful for things you can search on Google. They increase your rate every year and again still charge you out of pocket for small "recommended" tests/medicine. Take care of your family pet and look elsewhere. read more

We got our dog Zeus in May and started using Banfield off a recommendation. Overall, I'd say our experience with Banfield had been decent. We have the Early Care Plus plan and it's not too bad in terms of price but I felt like I should have received better coverage for our plan. I have had a few instances of having to pay a couple of hundred dollars when taking Zeus in for things here and there which isn't ideal. Generally speaking staff is helpful and friendly. Unfortunately when you call for appointments, pet pick ups etc. it is often the case that the line is busy or you go to voicemail and have to call multiple times. This place is awful. Do yourself a favor and take the drive to the orchard park location as they are WAY better. This Amherst location is terrible. They have sent me home with medications they were unable to give my cat without even telling me. I get home and open the bag thinking it's just her flea medicine and instead there's multiple syringes of medicine they expect me to give her with NO direction or heads up. They never answer the phone and never return my calls. The staff is rude almost every time I go there. They all seem annoyed to be there. My cat is leash trained and I have always brought her in on a leash. Well last time I was there they sent me home and made me get her crate. Would've been nice to know before I drove there since it was never an issue before. Most recently, I called trying to bring my cat in for an appointment because she is very sick. They didn't not return my call. Their voicemail box was full when I tried calling again. The orchard park location even tried contacting them on my behalf to see if there was an appointment available and they didn't even get back to the orchard park location. So terribly managed. If you care about your pets health, take them elsewhere! read more

I paid for the insurance plan but they never answer the phone and the website says my local one has NO appointments for the next 60 days, the next nearest is over 50 days, and I can get something in 3 weeks if I'll drive 90 miles. My cat is suffering, old, diabetic, and I can't afford the tests at another vet that would be covered under my plan. While I'm sure they are kind to the animals, they over medicate, their health plan isn't worth what it costs. Don't pay for the year in advance, they will not give refunds. They take your pet into a back room and bring it back when they are "finished", leaving you sitting in a tiny room just waiting. The staff is kind to your face, but in the phone extraordinary rude. The person I spoke with did not listen to me. I was simply trying to get heart worm meds. Since my puppy is still growing it's obviously a single dose not a 6 pack. I asked if I should bring the dog in to weigh her to be sure the dose was proper. They told me that she was 26 lbs the last time she was there. Probably not over 44. I said she was weighed 3 weeks ago by the rescues vet and she was 35 lbs. she said it's still the lower dose if she was just weighed a week ago. I said it's 3 weeks ago. She said it won't matter. I said I want the proper medication dose so my puppy doesn't get heart worm. Told her she wasn't listening to me and then she hung up. Banfield pet hospital is the most disorganized incompetent place. We had a appointment for our dog on Saturday at 9:30 A.M. and told us to come back three hours later. We still waiting over seven hours in 92 degrees weather wasting our gas trying to stay cool. In addition, they over book the appointments at this location. We had breakfast, went to stores and lunch trying to past the time waiting for these Bozos to get their act together. Never, again I going to come back here my time is too valuable to me and I will never get it back. Banfield is only good for annual visits and vaccinations. Every time we have an issue that needs immediate attention, we have to either wait a week to get an appointment or else go to the emergency clinic (which we've done). They aren't able to give special care and attention when needed because they are taking care of way too many animals. read more

In the past 3 years service has really gone down hill. I had put off taking my cat in until I could get an in room appointment with the Dr. Which I finally got. However my work schedule changed and I needed to reschedule for work, but was told there are no in room appointments apparently. My mother was just there with her dog for an in room appointment, I specifically made an in room appointment but suddenly they aren't a thing and the exam rooms are just for owners to wait in. I just cancelled the appointment indefinitely. I said I'd try back at some point in the future when I could be in the room with my pet. I didn't ask anyone to call me back, I didn't ask anyone to contact me further, I didn't need any more communication at that point. But Banfield calls ME BACK, to make an appointment. at one point I said I didn't think the conversation was going well, I wasn't being heard. I tried to explain further about my cat's history, why I was making the in person appointments, the woman talked over me, rushing the call (that I didn't ask for), interrupting me "I don't need any back story I have a lot of patients to call and I'm just making people's appointments" says the woman. There was a little more back and forth before a said I'd already called another vet for a checkup, and before the last syllable left my lips and "okay great! Have a nice da..." Hangs up on me. Considering there is conflicting information depending on who you talk to and that no one seems to really know exactly what's going on. I guess I can understand why she was confused and felt the need to take time out of what she said was a very busy day, to call me for an appointment I had already told the front desk I didn't want anymore. I understand usually bad reviews are posted if people had a bad experience which happens in any business. They have only given us excellent care. This location is great. Every banfield is really. Ive been to a few in various states. The staff here is so patient and have answered all my questions during the years ive been coming without ever rushing me or making me feel like i asked a dumb question. Dr schell is great. Very knowledgeable and shows a lot of compassion. You can tell she cares and isnt just moving on to the next pet. The entire staff goes above and beyond all the time. I work in customer service and know how difficult it can be. Aside from the friendly staff, the banfield plan is great. I paid roughly $35 a month and had yearly shots covered. The deal is actually worth it. You get a small discount on the extras like heartworm etc. There is also an app on your phone where you can see your pets medical records and invoices. Max (my 5 year old pup) and I have stopped in here many times for a nail clipping and ear clean. I haven't taken him to see any of the vets. This review is based on the customer service given to us by the techs at the counter. They are fantastic! Always greeting their new arrivals right away. I am the annoying client that just pops in to see if they have time for a quick clip. The longest Max and I ever had to wait was 15 minutes. They have never turned us away even though I am fully aware they can and at some point I expect to be because they always seem to have every room there filled by appointments. I had a negative experience with Banfield. My dog was getting UTI's frequently and I was being treated poorly as if I as doing something wrong. When I took my dog to a different vet, it was shown that she was getting frequent UTI's due to a poor spay surgery. I requested my dog's records to be sent over to the new vet and they would not send them over. I would NOT recommend Banfield. read more

I switched to the Orchard Park location due to the manager Judy I believe that's how you spell her name. Were going on two years dealing with Banfield, the first year we spent it with the Amherst location and now were with the Orchard Park location due to the confusion with Judy we had. I came with my mother just because the way she spoke to me over the phone I knew it was going to be a problem! I then came with my mother and I don't know if it was because we were minorities, or because I was speaking with her and I'm a young man but she just blew everything out of proportion and made it seem like I was yelling when I was there for my dog having massive bumps on his rear for the last year. He had these bumps since the beginning of our first day with the Amherst location and nothing was be resolved but I'm getting charged every month automatically for there services even if my dog doesn't need to go. I just felt nothing was being solved and wanted to speak to a manager and she (Judy) just came out and was like didn't we just speak on the phone I told you everything already and she was just coming off so hard not letting us talk! Once my mother tried to speak she made it seem like we were ganging up on her but she just wouldn't let me speak when I'm only here for my dog that my mother has co-owner ship to. We have been here since our Penelope was a puppy. From puppy stages to adult stages, Dr. Minko has been an amazing vet. She also sees our older dog halo who is a Maltese, and she is very gentle with the both of them. We always try to book with her and I appreciate her care for our pets as she seems to genuinely have their best interests. Another thing that is nice to know is that Banfied`s prices are very reasonable too! I have seen too many past vet clinics care about money first, before your pet`s wellbeing, I have seen past Vets prescribe too much medicine, so your pets health declines quickly because these Vets feel that sick animals bring in fast money, I have seen past Vets go with the status quo on medications when other medications are much safer for your pets health & longevity. If only I would of found Banfield Pet Hospital`s care years ago, my Mulan would of easily been able to live at least an extra two to three years of a longer precious life!
