Considering all the existing reviews are at least 1+ year old, it is fair for you to read of a current and recurrent custom. My experience with this location has been noting short or fantastic. No place is perfect, but service and attention has been top notch. We have been patients now for 3 years, with 2 dogs completely different breeds and needs. Service has been the same. Greeted with a smile 80% of the time; vet or assistant always explains information and I have never been made to feel like I'm bothering or asking too many questions. My only "complain" if you can call it that is that they try to add services like benadryl after vaccines or always ask if you want to trim nails or plug hairs from ears; it's not a big deal they are always polite and I decline most of the time, no big deal. Funny enough, sometimes my dogs need it but I just don't want to pay extra for it haha One big advice, you cannot make last minute appointments so make sure you plan accordingly and with time. If your pet is sick you will need to wait for sure at least a week an a half or two weeks for an appointment. read more

I took my dog for his regular check up and fecal exam this morning 8am appointment, I asked the young lady at the front desk who checked me that I could wait for him? She told me that the "doctor was in surgery" today and that pick up would be around 2 PM today and I would get a phone call. I said fine, I left and went home which is about 20 minutes away. As soon as I got home, I received the phone call that my dog was ready to be picked up? This is not the first time I was given misinformation by that front desk intake person who seemed to have some possible challenges working with people! She is not very good with her social skills!! with everything that is going on in the world today, you would think that banfield of Bowie would hire competent people to manage their front desk!!! very disappointed!!!!! read more

I have been going to Banfield in Bowie for years and have had an overall great experience. I went for my first dog, a Yorkie, until he died in 2022 at the ripe old age of 16 years old. I really used to like this place when I first moved around here. Staff was friendly detailed and seemed to really care. Now you get staff who do not seem to listen to you, and doctors who are condescending when you talk to them. My dog has had a lump on her paw for the past few months and all they say is it's an allergic reaction and send her home. Only detailed reaction I got from them was when she had something in her blood work elevated but from the rest of these reviews it sounds more like it was money oriented. I took her to a different Banfield and they were helpful friendly and seemed to care about our distress as well as giving details. Only other issue I do have about this Banfield is this. I know liability wise you have to have your leash on her but seeing her flop around while you then pull and drag her choking her is a cruel thing to do to a dog. I had to pick her up before they were acting concerned. Pretty sure you can afford a Banfield issued harness. read more

Words cannot express how disappointed I am with Banfield Pet Hospital (Bowie) and writing this review about my experience yesterday. This experience drove us away for GOOD! I recently moved to Bowie area and my previous Veterinarian gave me a quote for a procedure (roughly 800 bucks) but I could not continue due to my relocation. I took my dog to Banfield. What ensued from the point of arrival was nothing short of a Nightmare! After a quick diagnostic, Nurse Danielle and Dr. Echols came back with a prognosis. The nurse Danielle informed me that the procedure would cost anywhere from $2000-2500 for a procedure that other Veterinary Hospitals charge no more than $1000. Their responses were very nonchalant, because I asked what else can be done. The response given was appalling. It seemed as if they care more about get the profit more than the care for the pets. I did not receive any services there and they charged me the high office visit. While in the Petsmart parking lot, I called another Veterinarian (Dr. Mesfin @ Upper Marlboro Veterinary Hospital) and made an appointment for today 10.17). My experience there went exceptionally well. Every thing I could have hoped for in a Veterinarian experience was provided by Dr. Mesfin and his staff. Dr. Mesfin quoted me $900 for the same procedure Banfield was trying to charge me $2500 for. I accepted the pricing and he began the procedure. What this Vet displayed was not something Vet School can teach. He displayed compassion for my pet and he was very involved in wanting to help the pet. The service was by far STELLAR. I am happy to say that I have a NEW VET and I am happy. As I write this review, I notice my complaint is one of the many consumers who also complain about the price gouging taking place at Banfield. called on Monday and couldn't see pet until Wednesday. got there a little early and they put me in an exam room. Appointment was 11:30. I waited almost 45 minutes after that....people coming and going out staff room but no update on when they would be with us. I finally stopped someone and they said they would check.....no word. I just left. ridiculous!!!! called my family's vet got, appointment at 3:00. they immediately put us in exam room, got a cat box and water while we waited. tech came in a few minutes later and then vet. examined pet...short visit. prescribed medicine and we were ready to go! I should have avoided this place like the plague, however, I did not see the two star overall reviews due to my dog having an allergic reaction that Dr. Susan J. Jones (Banfield Pet Hospital in Laurel) dismissed as bruising. Needless to say, Dr. Echols did a fantastic job helping my dog when we arrived. Unfortunately, when Dr. Jones (from Banfield in Laurel) was called, she dismissed my dog ever having lumps and said he only had a scratch even though the notes on my dogs background said otherwise and she saw him not even a week ago. I should have taken this as a warning to take my dog some place honest and respectful rather than a Banfield facility. We would have saved ourselves a misdiagnosis, astronomical prices, and minimized the pain my pet endured. As if this wasn't bad enough, the receptionists are absolutely horrible. They were condescending, lazy, and outright rude. I was dropping my dog off and thought it wouldn't take twenty minutes, so we stood. But of course, nobody had the courtesy to let us know it would take no less than 45 minutes. When I asked about how long it would take, the blocky receptionist, Brittany G, called back and requested someone come take my dog immediately. Had she called the minute I returned my paperwork, this would not have been an issue. I'm unsure as to why Banfield hires lazy, smug, staff who act as if checking in your pet is an inconvenience. I understand COVID has changed things, but customer service shouldn't be one. I usually ONLY go to Dr. Rohan for anything but she's out currently. So they set me with Dr. Bayomi. My pup got spayed on Monday, and today she's been scratching around the wound which brought concern so I called the office just to ask if it was something I could put on it to help. They tell me to bring her in. Ok. Fine. Whatever. I also understand that it wasn't an appointment and considered a walk in (that y'all told me to do. But whatever. I digress). But why tell me it'll be quick. And I sit and wait for an hour and a half only to find out the doctor has taken a lunch and she will be seen afterwards. I understand people have to take breaks and eat. But why not be upfront and say that? Why keep people waiting? For their sake, I hope Dr. Rohan comes back, because if she doesn't, I won't either. read more

So disappointed with Banfield today. Brought my dog in for treatment on 05.19.20. Could not pinpoint what was going on with her but she was definitely under the weather. Because of Covid-19, I had to drop her off and was not present for her exam. I did send a hand written note for the doctor with my concerns. After 4 1/2 hrs she was released having blood work done and an injection for stomach distress, I believe. She was also given a Rx for an antibiotic. The doctor told me to call and bring my dog back if not any better. Long story short, I called first thing Saturday morning to explain my dog had gotten worse. I was immediately told to call around to other Banfields to see if I could get an appointment or to take her to the Dog Cat Emerg Hospital. I requested a call back from Dr Hussar. By 1:30 no return call. I called Banfield back and was told Dr Hussar had surgery so I left another message. Hospital now closed, 5:35p and no call back. Very disappointed. I've worked with my dog today and figured out what was going on with her. Unfortunately I'm locked into this contract for another 10 months. And to think on Tuesday I gave this hospital and staff flying colors. Pretty disappointed to say the least! read more

According to Kit's medical dossier that I just had faxed over, I have taken her to this location 11 times - she didn't die, so that's good news, right? She's also never gotten seriously ill or injured by being taken here, but Banfield always falls short of giving me a warm, fuzzy feeling whenever I bring in my warm, fuzzy pal. Definitely not the feeling you get from a Coca Cola Classic. Kit, sometimes known as, Kitty, Skittles, Kittiekins, Ms. Kittlesworth, Stinky, Silly and "the beefy Yorkie", is my Australian/Yorkshire terrier mix and the furry love of my life - my adopted critter of joy (see my profile for puppy pin-ups). If you ask her, Banfield is Hell and I am one of Satan's minions for taking her there; she always tries to turn around and run the second we get in the door. Next starts the shaking, scooting, and trying to hide in my lap so that no one can see her. Then, I start to feel like a big pile of steamy doo-doo for betraying her trust. No offense to the people working there, because they are very nice, but this Banfield always seems too busy to go that extra mile to be truly gentle with Kit. When I observe them with her, they are kind, but robotic in a way, due to the hordes of patients and procedures that stand in their way of being more human. I am guilty of taking Kit here for convenience's sake. I never really took the time to do the research to find an establishment worthy of mine and Kit's trust. Kit was on their wellness plan, and although I'm not sure how much money I saved, or didn't over the years, I know that any time there was an extra procedure, I was going to pay out the ass. I will never say no when it comes to something that I view as important to Kit's health and I believe that Banfield operates off of that vulnerability. Overall, I would say the care is standard, but a bit cold. The last couple of times I dropped Kit off for a check-up or appointment really caused me to question why I was still taking her here. I noticed that when I came to pick her up in the afternoon, she would shake life a leaf for at least an hour after we got home. She was completely terrified of Banfield and I wondered what was going on behind closed doors. After that, I only came in with her and never dropped her off again. I decided that the impersonal attention, the disorganization, all the waiting done just to drop off or pick up, Kit's horror at coming here could all end with us walking out that door and never coming back. read more

I came here for my male kitty, Saber Elliott, and I really adored Dr.Z . The young lady at the front desk and Reggie were kind and compassionate towards the animals, so of course two months later, I made an appointment for my female cat, Enjolique. I walked in, and there were so many people with their pets. This isn't a bad thing, but it was crowded. When I spoke with the two young ladies (definitely not the lady from the first visit) at the front desk, they were indifferent. Their attitude was "we-really-dont-care-". I'm thinking, "Why make an appointment, if I still have to wait or come back?" Finally, Enjolique and I are in a room, and Reggie helps us. Thankfully, his personality and kindness was able to ease my level of "pisstivity". I live within walking distance from a Banfield, so I made the 20 minute drive to this one hoping that I would get the same quality of service as my first visit. Unfortunately, I didn't get the same quality of customer service. Although I love Reggie and the Dr.Z., I'm not sure if it's worth coming to Bowie for the hit or miss customer service. read more

I dropped off my injured dog for a scheduled follow up appointment and was not checked in to be seen for almost 45 minutes. I called at 11 am to hear the status of his X-rays and they had not yet been performed. I was assured I would be called after they were completed and when I hadn't heard by 5:30, I called. They said to come pick him up at 6 pm and the doc would go over the X-rays. So, I showed up on time and had to wait an hour and half to see the vet. My dog was not fed nor was let out of his cage other than the time it took to have his X-ray done. He was there 12 hours. This business is always overbooked and the wait time is unacceptable. The only silver lining was one of ladies at the front desk. Tiffany has great customer service skills and genuinely cares for her customers. She's the best thing about that place. read more

No, no, no, no, no. Since we moved to this area my dog Chloe has needed some TLC twice, and Doctor Seddon at Old Town vet hospital took great care of her. However, on Sunday when she had some urinary issues there were no appointments available at Old Town. Having had some positive experiences with the Banfield vets in Virginia, my fiance took her in this morning while I went to work. First of all, they took Chloe back to a back room without my fiance going with her, and asked him to sign a consent form, allowing them to perform whatever procedure they deemed necessary. Now, he shouldn't have signed it without asking them what that meant, exactly, but they also didn't explain that they would be racking up almost 1,000$ in unnecessary medical procedures, either. Instead of simply doing a urinary analysis, which can detect bacteria and infection as well as sediments from crystals in the urine, they performed a 500$ x-ray in ADDITION TO the 40$ urine analysis and a ridiculous examination fee. I paid almost 1,000$ to diagnose and treat a UTI. This is partly my fault, as I should have perhaps taken the morning off and taken Chloe in myself, since I question everything and am more comfortable with turning down medical procedures that I know aren't needed. Banfield took total advantage of my fiance, who isn't as experienced with pet ownership. They charged us over 900$ for something that wouldn't cost more than 250$ at most other offices, and they put my dog under general anesthesia for no reason. I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

There really needs to be a "no-star" option... I just called a few minutes ago, about 8am, and asked if I could possibly schedule an appointment for today. Without asking what my pet needed to be seen for or even if he had been seen there before, I was told they weren't accepting walk-in appointments today. I could understand being booked up the day-of, but to be told I couldn't bring my pet in at all kind of goes against the whole "walk-ins always welcomed" brand Banfield spews everywhere. Unfortunately, my dog is suffering from diarrhea the past 48 hours which isn't something to take lightly. Telling me that you have nothing available for my dog without even hearing his issues is just rude. A drop off option wasn't even mentioned. I am done with this hospital and will be moving on to another location where I can get my monies worth. Thanks for nothing Banfield Bowie, you have been so unhelpful during my entire experience with you. $750.00.... TRIPLE or more for what most vets charge! Banfield was the most expensive rip off for a simple ear infection in my nieces cat. But it was on a Sunday so we made huge mistake. They kept giving me bills and each time I thought they were done...and they were after 4 which added up to the $750! Every single tiny thing they did they charged an outrageous price for. There are so many other and better reasonably priced veterinary clinics. DON'T GO THERE instead go to Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park. They are the best and reasonably priced much less than most vets. read more

There are some caring, friendly doctors and staff at Banfield. But before you purchase Banfield pet insurance check the fine print. My dog died in January and I was told I had to continue paying insurance until July. They were too busy to care for my dog during her last month so I had to go to another hospital and spend more than $600. Banfield could not even put her to sleep when I knew she was ready to transition. I was told to wait for 2 weeks! They are very busy and when you take your dog in the morning for vaccines, etc. sometimes I can't pick her up until the evening. I am very disappointed because they started out being very efficient and helpful. read more

Sadly, we have only been to Banfield once with our new puppy and signed up for the wellness plan. Our puppy has had diarrhea and vomiting since being seen the first time last week and although we indicated this concern during the initial appt. we did not have a chance to speak to the bet because they were too busy. Since the initial appt. we have tried to schedule a follow up due to the ongoing gi issue and have been told by at least 4 locations to "keep calling around." I am in the process of looking to find a new vet and cancel our wellness plan because it doesn't make sense that they cannot see our puppy for a potentially serious issue. I used to be more than happy to bring my pets (2 dogs, 1 cat) here but recently there's any entire new staff. Change can be good, but the front desk staff here at RUDE! Not people oriented and don't smile. When I was here 3-4 years ago it was a different atmosphere. My Yorkie's favorite Dr. Mallela is always Amazing & we would always be able to talk to the nurses before dropping him off. I would always ask for the receptionists Kyra or Jessica, they are both so sweet & helpful. I didn't see either of them during my last visit and tried to ask the front desk person when I was dropping off questions about the wellness plans for my pets and they looked like they did not want to engage in helping me. The drop off option is great for me and allows me to pick my fur babies up after work. I would always get to meet and talk to the nurses who would be working with my pets for the day. Now the staff is cold & seem unhappy to be at work. I want my pets to feel comfortable during their visits to the vet and I feel at ease when I can get to know the staff, as we are only here 2-4 times a year. This place is going down hill fast. read more

Absolutely terrible and only after your money as all Banfield facilities are. 500 bux later on my cat with runny nose and upper respiratory infection. Blood tests pushed on me very expensive unnecessary as relayed to me by my regular vet who couldn't see me because no appts. Available. And cat still sick after being treated. Famous tactics they use especially in Annapolis is getting you to put your occupation on forms so they can size you up to see how much they can bilk you for. DO NOT go to these unethical people. NOT RECOMENDED!! I took my dog to this hospital because she was vomiting and pooping blood. After some test and no treatment they recommended that I go to another non banfield hospital for an ultra sound because they do not have the equipment. Once at the other facility they told me that there was no reason why I should've transported my sick dog and she could've been treated at banfield. So all in all we had to go to banfield and she was finally treated after about four hours and 700 dollars later. When I filed a complaint I received a call after a month and no resolution was reached. They admitted to no wrong doing and stated that my dog could be treated at another hospital in the future. I took my cat in to the Banfield in Bowie, Md because they were the only ones open close to me on a Sunday. However, that is where the good part of this story ends. Our wait time at the clinic was completely unreasonable. After being brought into a room we were made to wait over an hour between the vet tech and the vet. They did not even assess my cat's problem, which was an extremely swollen ear. They took vitals on him and that was it. I'm not sure how, but, apparently looking at his ear and taking his temperature can lead to an assessment of needing invasive and ridiculously overpriced surgery. Banfield gave me a price estimate of $1050 to $1350 for hematoma removal surgery from my cat's left ear. This did not sit well with me so I went and got a second opinion. Turns out that I was right to get a second opinion. My cat picked up ear mites on our recent move and has an ear infection which led to him scratching at his ear and causing the hematoma. My new vet clinic did a very thorough assessment of my furry friend and explained everything they were doing and everything they might do during the surgery in depth. But, the final icing on the cake confirming that I will never go to Banfield again was the price difference. My new vet has quoted me $225 to $454 for the same surgery with a better facility, and a friendlier and more knowledgable staff. If you have absolutely no other option, yes, Banfields are convenient and have reasonable hours. However, if you have a choice, I don't recommend you choose them. They don't seem to care about your animals wellbeing, only about how much money they can get out of you because they know YOU care about your animals. **follow up** My new vet completed the surgery and all after care so far for $330. I'm sorry Banfield, but you guys are price gouging more than I could ever possibly make up. I'm honestly tempted to scan and upload my invoices because the cost difference is so ridiculous that people might not believe it. read more

Trust the reviews and the 1.5 star rating you see. We use to take our pets here. Until now. We called when our fur baby was in pain and up whining all night. They said that they couldn't see us, not even work him in for a few days. That was not acceptable to us because we didn't want him suffering for that long and wanted/needed to know what was wrong. They (the Bowie location) recommended that we take our boy to the Banfield in Laurel and told us that they just opened and are not too busy, so they could probably get us in quickly. Ok, sounded good to us, so we called that location and sure enough, they took us immediately. We went there and LOVE that location. They diagnosed him after X-rays, etc. They gave us two different medicines to keep him on for pain. But, gave us a few days supply to see how it went first before having us pay for the 120 pills to hold him the month. The problem with the Bowie location begins here. After three days trial of the meds and all was well and we wanted to proceed with getting the full prescription, we spoke with the Bowie location understanding that Doctors sometimes don't like giving pills if they didn't see the pet. So we called and asked if they had the pills in stock because Laurel was out and was ordering more and asked would they fill the prescription. When we called, the tech said let her check with the Doctor and came back and said "sure, we will fill the prescription, we just need the Banfield Laurel location to call us to let us know this medicine is what they have prescribed." I called Laurel and they immediately called Bowie and told them and I was on my way to the Bowie location to pick up his pills. Once I got there, I was told that the Doctor had changed his mind and that he would need to personally see our boy and do blood work. I said blood work was done three days ago (at the Banfield that YOU recommended I take him to to begin with) and they just called you per your request to approve the prescription to let you know ANYTHING you wanted to know about blood work, etc. We were told, sorry, the doctor changed his mind. It would not have been as bad had they not said ok and had us drive there. But, the fact they were ok with letting our baby boy suffer without these pills - do they care about pets? Is their doctor in this for the right reasons? Why tell us ok and then change their mind? They knew Laurel was out of the pill and that our baby would suffer once he didn't have anymore to take. They didn't care and played with our emotions and played with our boys health. Needless to say, we canceled our check up appointments with our other two pets that we take there and all three of our four legged family members will be going to the Laurel location, NOT Bowie! read more

The staff is conscientious and caring. I love Dr. Bobo. She is awesome. I have bounced from vet to vet for awhile, and Banfield is affordable and caring. I have stuck with them for almost 2 years now, since I moved to the area. I was at a more expensive Vet when I first got to the area, a great vet service but overpriced. So, except that my fav vet tech is at the other Vet Hospital, Banfield is for me and my Sophie. And again, just because I say my fav vet tech is at the other Vet, the staff and team at this Banfield is wonderful and it seems they don't have a high turn over, so I see the same wonderful faces at each visit. read more

Horrible! My dog has been coming here for 3 years, but today was the last straw. He has had an itchy rash on his legs, I called for an appointment and they couldn't see him for 3 days, that was OK as it's not life threatening. We dropped him off on Sunday 11th, got a call around 2.30pm that he was ready to be picked up. We arrived about 3pm and waited an hour and a half for them to bring him out. My husband was so mad we left without speaking to a Vet or Tech about his condition, just picked up the prescription, made the follow up appointment and asked the Vet to call us. The Vet called 2 days later to explain her diagnosis and the treatment. The follow up appointment was scheduled for 9am on the 27th. They called on the 24th to confirm the appointment but said it had changed to 2.15pm. I had arranged to work from home and had to reschedule calls to accommodate the change in time. We arrived promptly at 2.15pm and waited an hour and forty five minutes to be seen. A Tech took his temperature and looked him over, then left. Twenty minutes later the Tech came back and told me they would take my dog out the back to see the Vet as the Vet was too busy to come to the consultation room and speak with me. I wasn't having it. When the Vet did arrive it was a completely different Vet than the one who saw him two weeks ago, their explanation was that the original Vet doesn't work on Tuesdays! Why would we follow up with a Vet who didn't see my dog initially? In a nutshell, if you have plenty of time to spend waiting around then Banfield might suit your needs. My dog and I will be going somewhere that values our time and provides continuity of care. read more

Excellent customer service by Guillermo who was working alone on a busy day. I asked him so many questions because I'd just come off an overnight shift and was exhausted and needed things repeated. Expect to wait a very long time to see a doctor!!!!! I've been using Banfield for several years being that I have 3 dogs and they are all on the monthly payment plan. Well today was beyond my breaking point. I go knowing that Banfield always overbooks and take a LOT longer than normal vets (over 30mins minimum) prior to getting seen by a nurse or doctor and it has been this way for a while!!!! I always make an appointment knowing if I was a walk-in that sitting that long would be expected however, regardless if you have an appointment or not they see you when they want to see you. I've walked in prior to other patients and still get seen after them on many occasions which happened once again today. After checking in at 2:03pm (which is the actual time they checked me in on the computer, not the time I arrived) I finally saw a nurse at 2:25pm who did the basic heart and temperature check. Once that was complete I was told the doctor would be in for my dog's follow up. Finally at 2:50p I had enough of sitting in that little room with a terrified dog hiding under the bench. I asked "when was I going to be seen this is getting ridiculous" The receptionist came in 5mins later and said "the doctor was checking out another patient in the next room" (who wasn't there when I arrived or was put into the room). Another 5mins later, still nobody came to do the follow up appointment, which by the way would take 2 freaking seconds!!!!!! I walked out and looked into the other room, the room the doctor was suppose to be in and nobody was freaking there!!!! So once again they left me hanging!! Even after the staff and the doctor saw me walking out of banfield andafter I told them I had been sitting there since 2:03pm and its now past 3pm, I got nothing. The doctor wouldn't even look at me. No apologies, nothing. The nurse tech was the only one who I could tell felt bad but it was out of her control and there was nothing she could do. It wasn't her fault this place is being run into the ground by a bunch of idiots that don't freaking care. We pay all of this money monthly to supposedly get a premium pet care service and all they want you to do is drop off your pets. Well I don't like my dogs to be in cages all day so you can see them for 5mins. These visits are very stressful on dogs and owners and to have us sitting there like that is absolutely absurd and ridiculous. I feel like they are treating us like the caged up dogs in the back and cages us up in these rooms for a crazy amount of time so we can be seen for 2mins! Honestly, do yourself a favor & go a spend the extra $50 to see a real vet, it will totally be worth your time. Finally, I get into the room and it wasn't even cleaned!!! there was still a ton of dog hair on the floor and BLOOD from the previous animal that was in there!!! I have pictures so you can't say it wasn't there!!! Now, I am getting my dogs off this scam they call a payment plan and taking a shower to wash the filth off of me from being in that disgusting room!!! To Banfield: Why not spend the extra few dollars to get real vets and staff. It will pay in the long run. Your service has significantly declined over the years, the reviews say it all. Imagine how many haven't said anything yet. If you continue down this road, I give you a few more years before Banfield's start closing down. read more

Our dog has been coming here for the longest. We use to received calls when it was time for his annual shots. All of a sudden they stopped calling with the reminders. On one occasion he was dropped off at 7am for his appt. Called around 5pm to see if he was ready to be picked up. I was told that he had not been seen yet. When I asked why I was told that there were other pets in front of him. This was odd because he is usually ready for pick up by no later than 4pm. I finally go to pick him up right before he closed and I asked why he was not seen when he was one of the first to be dropped off at 7am. I was told they had emergencies they had to deal with before. They did not give my dog water, food or even treats the whole day! They were indifferent when I told them I was concerned and upset that he was one of the first to be there and ended up being one of the last to leave. The vet that had seen him was new. I had never seen her before. She said my dog was a little aggressive. Which is out of the ordinary for him. Especially since he had been going there since he was 7 months. My dog is now 6 yrs old. It was passed the time he eats dinner he had no water throughout the day. He was locked away for more than 8 hours! of course he would probably be cranky!! I have no idea what happened to this place but I refuse to take my dog to a place where the staff is not caring. Stay away from this location. Your better off going to a different location or going to a local vet. read more

This pet hospital sucks. I have been coming here for about three years but I have had enough. The vet techs are rude and don't seem to take their job seriously. One vet tech in particular Miranda has a sarcastic and aloof attitude. They also do not seem to give as much importance to your pet as the you do. The doctors and vet techs also give you the run around and overcharge you for mistakes THEY made. My dog had to get surgery on his tail, a small amputation. Two hours after the surgery, the bandage they put on flew right off due to how poor they put it on. Had to take him to an ER vet because Banfield was closed. We take our dog back for a check up and they suggest we put a muzzle on him so he does not get to his tail. We do that, they wrap up his tail and take him home. The next day, the bandage comes off AGAIN due to poor wrapping. At this point I am extremely pissed off because we were just there. Now today we get told that his tail is still infected and another surgery must be done. So what were the doctors and vet techs even doing? We did everything they told us to and our dog is now traumatized from the constant visits and pain to his tail. I would not recommend going to this Banfield at all, they are lazy, rude and do not seem to have the best interest of the pet in mind. Go to Laurel Banfield instead. do not take your animals here!! if there was an option to give 1 star i would!!! banfield is filled with incompetent dishonest people that truly do not give animals adequate health care. my family lost 2 pets in the matter of 2 months. every time i called to get answers on why i was given different reasons as the cause of death of both of my dogs. the most outlandish to date happened today 2/22/21, i was told my dog suffered a stroke which is a lie! the chief of staff at the bowie banfield location dr. mohamed bayomi told this lie! after looking over all documentation i have from banfield, this statement was nowhere in any of the documentation provided from them. nowhere! i asked dr. bayomi to read the notes, perhaps i missed something, it's possible, i'm not a doctor. instead dr. bayomi read me the notes that i relayed to the receptionist when making an appointment. i like most people googled symptoms my dog was showing and mentioned that i thought that she was showing signs of a stroke. no where in any of the medical notes from any of her appointments leading to her death from banfield does it say my dog suffered a stroke. my 10 year old english bulldog died as the direct result of inadequate health care provided from banfield in bowie. dru never missed a comprehensive exam! ever!! her cause of death was not a stroke. dru's cause of death was a direct result of a condition that were missed by the doctors that me and my family trusted to take care of her! my yokrie died as well. he was 11 and passed away tragically 1 month after dru. do not send your pet here. they do not care and they are extremely dishonest about the care your pets receive. stay away! read more

No help at all paid $400 dollars on Saturday dog was worst after visiting them none of the medication prescribed worked and they didn't even do x-rays for him on the initial visit but charged me $400 for some blood work when they still didn't resolve the problem... I go back the same week on Thursday they tell me I am going to have to pay another $400 to get the same blood work done and now xrays to see how the medicine effected him. If I sit there and tell you that he is worst and throwing even more than when I brought him in the first place what sense does that make to pay $400 again to go through the same process..Horrible Horrible service will never take my dog back here. I wish I could give this place less than one star. 90% of the staff lacked any type of professionalism. One girl walked in eating her breakfast sandwich and continued to eat it at the front counter. Another guy working there kept pulling his pack of Newports in and out of his scrubs...I guess he really needed to smoke. This place was dirty and ghetto. My dog was having some type of allergic reaction. Her face was so swollen, one eye was closed. She broke out in hives and was turning red and pink. As a walk in, we got there at 0845 as they open at 0900. The sign on the wall says "Sick and injured animals will be seen first to keep everyone safe." We waited for an hour before I asked the girl if my dog could get checked in as she is "sick". She said "Ah...no...that's for dogs that get hit by like a car and stuff. If you want her to be seen now that's like 60 extra dollars." After another half hour I finally said "I will pay the extra 60 for her to be seen now." She replied "Oh...I am going to check you in now." Everyone looked tired and worn out...no one seemed to have any personality or really care about what they were doing. Most of them looked like they rolled out of bed to come to work and slept in their scrubs. I will never, never go here again. BTW - We have been a Banfield customer for over a year with 2 dogs in Fort Lauderdale, FL before we moved. We LOVED them. They knew us all by name and truly cared about the girls. In fact, after we left I sent them a gift basket thanking them for all they did. Banfield...I am truly concerned about the quality of service in this area. I looked out other Banfields in the area and the reviews are not stellar...it might be time to do something about this and get some quality control happening. read more

Never, ever go to Banfield in Bowie, MD. The wait time to even check in your pet is ridiculous, it can take up to an hour to just drop off. I dropped our 2 dogs off for a comprehensive dental and got a call 3 hours later to come pick them up. Neither dog got their dental work done. I find out that our 1 dog was so stressed that he was panting heavily and his temperature was spiking to 105. They couldn't figure out how to sedate him properly. I was very upset which I told the vet. I said I want to take him home now. He wouldn't let me take him home because they had to watch him and get his temperature down, and he was mildly sedated. I told him to call me with progress reports and he said, I should call them. In other words, they were not going to bother to keep me updated. I said I would and I expected to know what was going on. Well, I called 45 minutes later, the idiot that answered, Anastasia, told me our dog's temperature was now 108. I said the vet said it was 104 when I was leaving, what was going on, I said is this information written down, please check with the vet what you are telling me is correct. She comes back to say the vet is at lunch and nothing is written down. What kind of customer service is this? They suck, do yourself a favor, never, ever go this hell hole. Oh, a week earlier, we dropped them off for a comprehensive and dental all at the same time, but whoever scheduled the appointment screwed up and only scheduled for a comprehensive. Well when we went to pick them up, the vet would not give us an ear antibiotic because we refused to pay for some additional test. Ridiculous. Stay away. read more
