Banfield veterinary clinics are found inside PetSmart locations. They are owned by Mars Veterinary Health. I use Banfield in Concord, NH and have had great experiences there. Especially with Dr. Palladino and our cat, Jessie. Dr. Palladino has been a caring, knowledgeable and authentic-passion-for-animals vet. You see, recently, Jessie developed a cyst on his head at the base of his right ear. Early on, while it was small, Dr P advised watchful waiting as surgical removal in that spot was problematic for healing. Fast forward a year and that ugly cyst had tripled in size and had to come off. Dr Palladino warned that healing would be difficult. You see, in that spot there is little skin to suture together. But we had no choice and she did it flawlessly. Thanks to her skills and a cooperative feline, the cyst is gone and benign. Pets can't communicate very well, but I am confident Jessie would speak well of his caretaker. Her assistants' follow up was timely and thorough. And Dr P's knowledge made us comfortable and confident. read more

Was with Banfield for 3 years. Loved them....until...... Maybe its Corp America, maybe its trying to do more with less staff....but they don't answer their phones.....EVER. So you have to leave a message. Then IF they call you back (which they don't always), they miss you and leave you a message...then you start over. THREE WEEKS later, still haven't connected with anyone, and still haven't rescheduled a much needed appointment (an appt they asked me to reschedule and an appt I need so the pharmacy will refill the heartworm treatment...meanwhile, I have none). Brought my dog here long time ago and got a rabbies shot. They lost ability to walk the same day. Records say my dog still needed rabies shot so what did they get? Brought my cat here as well and they died a week later after shots. Banfiled want you on a plan. Which they cram what they can into one visit if you have a plan. If you don't have a plan they will let you come back for other services because you will then pay more. With or without a plan they will up sell you anything they can find to suggest you might want to buy as well. When I started going to Banfield they had like maybe 8 to 10 animal names on the board for the day and actully cared and my pet was given great service. Now its like 30 or more pet on the board each day. They will forget stuff (undersrandably given client load per day) and then try to say you didnt keep up or you forgot. Im not the vet, they are. I dont recommend going to any of these corporate run vets. Don't be fooled that the plan will help you afford it better. You pay monthly and might see them a couple of times a year and they have TOO many clients! If you have serous issues they might refer you to a pet er which won't be covered by your plan. Son even the extra emergency visit might not be covered. Find a local vet and work out an affordable way to help your pet get what they need. Or find a vaccine clinic to get shots and other services for free. My biggest recommendation is, if you cant afford a lot and are worried about your pets care, Banfield is not your best choice. read more

We have been going to Banfield for a number of years our Penelope has a number of procedures with all success. The staff is very friendly compassionate along with the Dr's . I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for vetinary care. Cost is very reasonable with plans that can fit your budget. read more

I brought my pet to the Banfield in Loudon NH on December 23rd. The total cost for services was $691 but the girl at the front desk charged me twice. When I noticed the double charge I drove back to the Banfield and showed the girl behind the desk the double charge on my checking account statement. She insinuated that I was lying and told me that she could not refund me. I was so insulted and angry. I have been a customer of Banfield for over 10 years. I will cancel my membership and never step foot in a Banfield again. read more

The team of employees at the Banfield in Concord, NH is amazing. We have loved taking our two Goldens to them for a combined 13 years. Every Dr and tech has been superb. However, it is important to note that the Banfield plan is not managed by these kind humans. It is managed by corporate and while the employees working in customer service are kind, the policies they are trained to enforce are not. If you have a geriatric animal (or an animal of any age with poor health) please understand the cancellation fees if your pet should pass away - do not upgrade your plan until you know what that does to your plan expiration date and how it affects your cancellation fees. If you don't know when your plan expires - ask. Our experience cancelling our plan after our golden girl passed away was enough for us to not only cancel her plan, but to cancel our other plan for our two year old golden. My recommendation? Price out your local vet - it's worth it in the long run to work with people who will care for both your dog AND you right up to the end. read more

My two cats had been seen by CAVES (emergency vet) here in Concord NH. One cat had a follow-up appointment and was found to be quite sick and required hydration and needed to be fed with assistance. My other cat was equally sick with pneumonia and was not scheduled until the following Friday. When I spoke with Dr. Tibas she said she wanted to see both cats the very next morning even though she was scheduled with surgeries all day she still found time to see my sick kitties. I cannot thank her enough and the very kind and compassionate staff. read more

I have a diabetic cat and an arthritic dog that has vaccine reactions. We have both on Banfield Plans and have saved so much money. They have both been on the plans almost 5 years and we have saved over $5000. We find Banfield to be compassionate, patient and budget conscious. They are also very knowledgeable in my pets' special conditions. I love that they have extended hours including weekend hours. Since my dog needs to be observed anytime she gets a vaccine it saves me a lot of missed work to be able to do it on the weekend. Like another reviewer, I was skeptical about my dog needing prescription food. However, her arthritis is amazingly better on it and she returns to a limpy mess if we switch back to regular food for more than a couple of days. If you have time to volunteer at the animal shelter, at least in Manchester, you can order prescription food at a huge discount. That is how I can afford the food my two need. My only constructive criticism is that the vet does not have a separate entrance. I am sure this is to boost sales for PetSmart. However, if you have a sick or injured pet it can be difficult to walk past all of the customers that want to pet it or safely get it passed other pets that are in the store. It is also tough if you get bad news about your pet to have to walk through the whole store on your way out. It would be nice if they had a separate entrance/exit. Since this is likely a Petsmart problem and not a Banfield problem, I didn't deduct a star. read more

I will NEVER go back to this crazy joint ever again! Our sweet beloved 11 month old Rottweiler has been failure to thrive since he was around 4 to 5 months. We had been worrying that something was wrong but who are we to not believe the VET. So we continued with treatment with the "VET" and we have now reached 11 months and we almost put our dog down based on the diagnosis that the "VET" was giving us. Based on what the vet had said even if we did surgery and everything else based on the one test he did, we almost said goodbye because of one test. So with that being said we had an appointment on Friday to put him down and we get in there after preparing our 8 year old daughter to say good bye to her beloved puppy, "VET" decides to say no I'm not putting him down.... needless to say at this point we immediately called another vet and have since gotten the actual diagnosis of our beloved boy that should have been made at 4 months old but NO because THEY NEVER DID THE TESTING! I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I DONT RECOMMEND YOU DO EITHER! read more

Since my first visit, I've seen this hospital write a prescription for specific dog food for each of the 2 dogs I've mentioned. I'm not convinced that I need to spend as much on dog food in a month as some people spend for a monthly car payment. The veterinarian staff seem to feel convinced that they are doing the prescribing in the proper medical interest of the animals, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt; I remain skeptical towards their inability to openly suggest common shelf stock dog foods outside the prescription offerings. My current advice is this: ask the veterinarian for alternative foods, then ask again when the vet says no; ask for suggested specific beneficial ingredients and ask about the balances of the ingredients and do your homework from there. This effort might let the veterinarians know that consumers want better options than just prescribe prescribe prescribe prescribe.... read more

This has got to be one of the best, most compassionate, cohesive veterinary teams out there. From the receptionist, to the technicians, to their 3 doctors, we've never had anything lousy to say. The doctors work great together, even if they come in halfway through a case and have to work on what the last doctor did for diagnostics or treatment. Not being an emergency hospital, but a general practice, when there is an emergency they do their best to band together and help however they can. I'll recommend them to whoever asks me for vet recommendations. read more

This is the first time I visited a vet with the first pet I've adopted on my own and I could not have been more satisfied!!! The vet tech was a gem and she had a wonderful connection with my dog. She listened to all of my questions and answered them in a way I understood. I felt heard by her. The veterinarian was also wonderful. She took her time with my dog and worked well with the vet tech to figure out the best preventative care for my dog. The vet discovered that my dog has an ear infection in BOTH ears and took the steps necessary to clean them, test the infection, and proscribe the needed medication. The Vet tech took her time in showing me how to clean my dogs ears as well as walking me through the various medications that I need to administer to my dog. I never felt rushed. I felt heard. I felt that my concerns/questions were taken seriously. Bonus: my dog loved everyone! read more

While canfield clinics may be great for "routine care" they are a poor choice for dog health insurance for the following reasons: 1. When my son's dog was sick on a Sat and he called for an appointment-he couldn't be seen as all appointments were full, but they could see him on Monday-not an option. they said go to the local animal ER (basic cost $150.00) 2.IF you traveling with your dog and there is no Banfield Clinic when you need one-your crap out of luck. 3. They have other co pays and limited even for routine stuff that you need to be aware of. 4. Pet insurance is for payment of costly treatment and procedures that you should be able to get wherever you are and not routine visits that any one can afford and that are limited to a few clinics. Best pet insurance is "Healthy Paws" (go to their web site). Rated number 1 in the industry. Advantages: they do NOT pay for routine office visits BUT do pay for all diagnostic work (i.e., lab and X-rays) associated with those visits. They have NO limits per illness or injury or per year ! You can go ANYWHERE to get treated and simply send your cost receipt fast-usually mail or via email to them for reimbursement ! Cost is based on the age of your pet and the co-pay and deductible you select. THEY reimburse very fast-usually with in 1 wk ! NO pet insurance pays for "pre existing conditions" but once you have their insurance they cover any conditions including surgery, meds etc etc ! Check it out and you will wonder why you got the Banfield insurance which unfortunately is really lousy ! read more

Wonderful caring veterinarians and staff. I started coming to Banfield at the recommendation of my vet in another city. This is a well run and efficient practice. Colleen always greets us by name (owner and dog alike) and gets us started on the appointment immediately. My dog likes coming here as the staff and vets talk to her, give her a treat, and always treat my old girl gently. I am writing this now because I feel they deserve kudos for doing something simple like recommending a new food for her doggy dementia, and for always treating us as part of the family. Dr. Elizabeth E Ring is an OUTSTANDING Vet! I brought in my sick dog, and instead of going through the usual aka...your dog needs this shot, that shot, this test, that test...she actually TOOK the time to examine my baby girl. She was concerned. She LISTENED to what I had to say about my dog's change in behavior, but most of all...she SAW that my dog had an issue and decided to concentrate on MY DOG'S HEALTH rather than keeping up a shot schedule that would have stressed my sick dog. She ordered SPECIFIC tests! Not just...whatever dunno tests. The prognosis is not spectacular...and it is what it is...but I TRUELY THANK Dr. Ring for her caring, her consideration, and for putting my dog's health foremost! Last week or last year I would've given them five stars but after today I have to say 1 stars. I called this Saturday morning because my dog for the last two days has been urinating excessively, has excessive thirst and hunger. the girl who answered the phone said they couldn't possibly fit her in today or tomorrow but maybe Friday? But I really felt she needed to be seen. She then said I could bring her in at 8 AM and drop her off and pick her back up at five. I asked what would she be doing for those nine hours? she said she would be in a cage. So they want me to stick my sick, dog aggressive dog in a cage (I don't cage my dog) and some time in nine hours they will see her? no! luckily I called Russell Animal hospital and they were able to get her in within half an hour! which was lucky because her glucose was extremely high and she was diagnosed as diabetic. I don't expect to be treated like that after being a loyal customer for five or six years so I'm all set with Banfield! read more

After my cat fell violently ill I needed a vet fast! No one is as readily available, I found, on a Saturday as they are. They took me in as soon as they could, even rescheduling other peoples non emergency appointments to save my cats life. I think that was one of those most out standing things about them. Most Vets would never reschedule a exam with a client to take in a life or death situations. They did a wonderful job caring for my cat and are very convenient. I will defiantly return in the future. Don't be misled with the idea they are a "chain" or "commercial" hospital . They had the most compassionate and intelligent staff I'v ever come across. read more

Banfield Pet Hospital, located in the Concord, NH Petsmart, has an outstanding staff. Faced with a very hard decision to euthanize our beloved cat, Puss Puss, they offered us guidance and professional advice. We asked several questions, which they answered with a special kindness. Only upon reaching our final decision to have Puss Puss put to rest did the Veterinarian offer her personal opinion, concurring with our decision. The Veterinarian consoled not only us, but she spoke lovingly to Puss Puss prior to sending him on his way. His passing was handled with the utmost dignity, and the staff was extremely caring and compassionate. read more

I am forever grateful of this hospital. They have the most compassionate staff. My two dogs were hit by a car right outside of banfield and they were rushed into the hospital. They did everything in their power to save them both, one could just not make it. My other they treated as much as they could and sent him to the emergency clinic where he recovered. The doctor that was there that night, Dr. R, could not have done more or been any more caring towards us the whole time. They are not an emergency hospital and now have these 2 dogs hit by a car an hour before closing and they worked there butts off and did not stop until we left.
