I've been with this clinic for about 5 years. They have turned into a pathetic clinic that is only…read moreout for your money. They refused to approve a prescription for my dogs worm meds. He takes them on the third of the month. His annuals are this month on the 16th. I placed the order on the 28th of the month prior to his annuals. The vet refuses to approve saying they won't approve until his appointment on the 16th. So, they're forcing him to be late 2 weeks. Yea, and of course they didn't tell me of their decision, I had to call when petmeds sent me an email saying they hadn't heard from the vet. They did the same thing with the 3 year rabies. He was due for the booster but they couldn't make the appointment until 3 days past his exact 3 year. When I got there they said they couldn't continue the 3 year booster because of that 3 days. Ridiculous. Finally, when I told them I was taking my dogs to another vet they didn't care at all. I pine for the day that vets cared about your pets.

I explained everything to dr joey and we were all on the same page that we needed to find out what was causing this condition so blood was going to be drawn to test for what she had thought might be a blood parasite and the only way to test for that was to send the blood out of town which would take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks to get the result back. I signed on the line agreeing with that and saying okay no problem. we waited while that was done she came back in and said sorry they took your results here instead of being sent out because the readings and my machine are not acting correctly we need to do another blood draw to send to the other lab. I understood ,I agreed with that ,I didn't like the fact that they are now taking a second blood draw out of my baby but hey mistakes happen. So after the second blood drawn she came back in we talked about the timeline that while we're waiting on the blood test to come back let's get him on the steroids and the antibiotic .if it does come back as the blood parasites then by the time two weeks passes waiting on the blood results he would already have the antibiotics inside him which would be the correct medicine if that's what it came back as. I gave him the antibiotics he threw it all up immediately which again is not the Vets fault and I'm not accusing them of that So we agreed on a steroid shot and an anti-nausea shot so that hopefully it would jump start his system and I could give him the antibiotics again that night and it should be able to go down. Nothing else was talked about.I am now being told that in their notes I declined all of the options when the only thing that I ever declined was the blood transfusion because they couldn't even do it here I would have had to take him to an emergency room and she told me it's anywhere from 1200 to $2,000 .(quotes were 6 to 12k) Now they called me back when they got the results within like a day I was really shocked to get that phone call because I was expecting it to be at least a week or two and she told me oh this is just the blood results panel that we got back this isn't the parasite result and went through all the numbers with me and yeah it's bad he's anemic we already knew that so we agreed to keep trying antibiotic an the steroids and make him feel better and then as soon as she got the results we would get called back and determine if that was the cause. eventually the steroids kicked in and he pulled through and now he's doing much much better a week later but we're still waiting on the results to find out what the underlying cause of his anemia is. So I replied back to an email that they sent out last night and said that he was doing better gave an update and said I'm just waiting on the results of the parasite test so as soon as you all get that please give me a call so we know what the cause is. Today casey or kay told me according to their medical notes that I declined all tests for the parasite multiple times an that what im saying is a lie and that if I want to do that blood test I've got to take my baby back up there again have another blood test drawn and sent back out which would be another one to three weeks and pay a 3rd time She was rude and she has a huge attitude when she's confronted about her note taking being wrong. Obviously they have more patients they can't remember everything and that's understandable(hince notes). But when I only deal one time with my boy my memory is 100% dont argue and call me a liar.then tells me to find another vet her an the dr think its best.all bc I confronted her attitude. I have no choice to go elsewhere.so my boy wont be risked as retaliation .she is a danger to pets for her pride being hurt from her being called out on a simple mistake she made.

The nurse was very friendly and helpful. Knowing how stressful the whole situation was she put us at ease. Dr Maney is the best. My dog was very agitated as he hates going to the vet but as soon as he met her he calmed down visibly and was relaxed after that. I liked the fact that Dr Maney didnt push her opinions but presented us with options so we could decide what we wanted to do.We ended up getting surgery done and it is healing beautifully. It was a spot on his ear and she had to take out a big chunk but you can't tell that there's a piece missing. Prices were reasonable.

After a 20-minute walk, my Cane Corso began limping in his rear legs, vomiting, and losing consciousness. I rushed him to Allied Animal Healthcare (just 8 minutes away from me), but without even examining him, they redirected me to SAVES, which was 20 minutes away. After pleading with Allied to at least check my dog, they continued to insist that I go to SAVES. Sadly, after enduring 30 minutes of traffic, driving with hazards on, and desperately trying to keep my dog awake, he passed away when I arrived at SAVES. When we were seen, the vet tech asked the basic questions, then she said the doctor will be in next to see us. But instead she came back with our quote for the medicine they were going to give us. Her coming back with the quote and us not having seen the doctor was disappointing, it was as if they had no urgency or care. Then the doctor came in and he offered no help whatsoever as to what the potential issue could have been. All that to waste $300 with no help for my dog and now we have to take her somewhere else. Don't waste your money here.

A good friend of mine recommended Dr. Aycock and promised I would have to look no further. They were right! He was so kind and polite that I liked him right off the bat. He is knowledgeable and honest and has a genuine interest in my animals. Many veterinarians seem to lose their compassion for animals after years in the field, but not Dr. Aycock. It is so obvious that he truly cares for his patients and is willing to go beyond the call of duty if needed. I am so grateful that my friend recommended him and I can't imagine ever finding a better doctor.

Edit: I did email. Still waiting for a response. I came in with my newly rescued dog expecting compassionate care and professional customer service, but unfortunately my experience was the complete opposite. First, I felt extremely misled regarding Banfield's wellness plan pricing. I was initially told the monthly subscription would cost approximately $44 per month for my adult dog. However, during the discussion, the total quickly increased to around $75 per month after being told the original plan did not include preventative medications or dental coverage. I felt heavily upsold on services that staff themselves could not clearly explain. The employee assisting me, Kiana, was unable to properly explain what was actually included in the plans, which made the entire conversation confusing and frustrating. After feeling uncomfortable with the pricing and lack of transparency, I clearly stated multiple times that I did NOT want to move forward with the monthly subscription and only wanted an in-house fecal exam completed for my rescue dog. My appointment was scheduled for 2:00 PM. I left and returned at approximately 5:45 PM specifically for the fecal exam. After arriving, Kiana placed me in a room and told me the fecal test would be completed in-house and that I would receive the results over the phone. After that, I was left sitting in the room for approximately 45 minutes with absolutely no communication. Eventually, I went to the front desk only to discover that nobody even knew I was still sitting in the room. Kiana had apparently left for the day without informing anyone I was there waiting. This was incredibly unacceptable and unprofessional. What made the situation worse was that Dr. Anderson also knew I was there waiting and did nothing to assist or follow up regarding the fecal exam. When I later asked staff for Kiana's name because I wanted to understand who had handled my visit so poorly, Dr. Anderson appeared reluctant to provide her name. Ironically, the receptionist at the front desk was the only employee during this experience who showed kindness and professionalism. I also had my four-year-old and seven-year-old children with me during this ordeal. By this point, my children were hungry, tired, and upset after waiting so long unattended. My newly rescued dog also needed to get home for her medications and dinner. The lack of concern shown by staff while we sat forgotten in a room was extremely frustrating and honestly upsetting. The situation was later blamed on "miscommunication," but I very clearly repeated multiple times that I did not want the wellness plan and ONLY wanted the fecal exam completed. There should have been no confusion. After leaving Banfield, I contacted other veterinary clinics in the area and quickly found another veterinarian willing to provide the same fecal exam for approximately one-third of the price, while also treating me with significantly better customer service and compassion. As a paying customer, I expected professionalism, communication, and basic courtesy. Instead, I felt ignored, pressured into upsells, forgotten, and treated poorly because I declined the monthly subscription plan. I hope this complaint is taken seriously so that future customers -- especially families bringing in newly rescued pets -- are treated with more respect and care than my family was. read more

This whole thing pissed me off. Will not be back. If you visit, wish you more luck then I had. Staff seemed nice but honestly a whole waste of time. I would rather have paid for an appointment and have people who value my time.

The practice has stopped meaningfully engaging with owners entirely -- exams are transactional, no dialogue, just demands. When a client questions recommended tests or pushes back on over-testing, the response is pettiness rather than professional explanation. The most immediate problem is their refusal to work directly with patients on prescriptions through third-party vendors -- apparently a corporate directive. Rather than communicating that change respectfully or helping clients navigate it, they've simply cut off personal interaction altogether. No explanation, no support, just stonewalling. VCA College Park has replaced care with corporate compliance. The people in that exam room deserve better than this.

The plans are meant to save you some money on medications, routine checkups and some major procedures. After joining the new plan, I noticed an additional charge for the previous plan. When I called them, they advised I was told incorrectly and still had one payment left on the prior plan. There was no attempt to take responsibility or make it right. A $59 charge lost them the new plan, future boarding, and a long-term customer. This completely changed my experience with this vet, and I advised them I wanted to cancel the new plan since I was still being charged for the old one. They charged me an additional $300 to cancel the new plan I had been on for two days. This vet is only about money. Whatever you do, don't fall for the monthly payment plans they offer. The "savings" are not worth it (and really don't save you at all since you still pay for medications) and they will do everything they can to squeeze as much out of you as possible.

I was told that my pumpkin was going to need surgery. I was referred to Red Oak, who was able to see us the next morning. Let me just say, while initially, calling around prior to landing at my vet of choice every person I described her symptoms to guilt tripped me and made me feel that I was at fault for her current condition as if I didn't already feel guilty. However, while speaking with Dr. Tolbert at Red Oak, he didn't allow me to place that guilt on myself. He was more focused and determined on our treatment plan. After learning the cost details I was Heavily discouraged and he was highly empathetic and assured me that he would do all that he could to help it work out. After many tears and prayers, I received the call that Yoshi was finished with surgery and in recovery and that she had done great! I know this is a lengthy review, but when I say that the staff and Dr. Tolbert were so kind and patient, it's an understatement not only was he able to assist with fixing my baby, he also went out of his way to connect me with a financial solution. He didn't have to do that, many people wouldn't, but because of his heart for his clients and their parents he did! I will take Yoshi back because the heart, patience, care, advocacy, and skill of Dr. Tolbert and the staff at Red Oak Animal Hospital.

I've bought tons of medication from them and all his normal flea and tick ointments and heartworm medications. So after $5,000 in vet bills we discover that my dog is allergic to beef. So before this was discovered I had paid $125 for chewable heartworm medication that is beef flavored. Bottom line is I went to them and they said they won't allow me to exchange it for something else. I'm livid. It's not like I asked for a refund. I asked for an exchange and they refused. I hope them denying my dog was worth losing my business. I understand everybody has policy's that they must follow but I also was a good customer and I always paid in cash.
