So I've used them and had insurance through them my whole dogs 7 years. They would not refill her allergy medication over the phone. We did not want to bring her in due to the fact it's for allergies and not something that is needed to be seen. My dog gets it every year and due to the fact we are moving and I informed them of it the flowers she is allergic to are all around due to the fact my mover is not here yet. Nope we need to see her. Well that's fine I will cancel all her payments going towards your shit hole people. Just another customer lost for life. Also they do not have people to stay over night now when you leave you your pets at the hotel at Pet smart. Don't use the big company's help out your local vet that's what we will now do. Do not sign for the Wellness Plan. You become tied for the whole year. If you move to another town and if another state that does not have a Banfield hospital, you still have to pay but will not get a service since the Doctor only can prescribe medication for the state where he/she is licensed. So, you have to go to the local vet clinic and pay additional fee, despite that you have a wellness plan with Banfield. Very unfair. read more

We have been taking our 3 Dogs to Banfield for years and even our Cats when they were still alive. The Vet we normally see seems to be on the ball and knows what she is doing. Have had another vet at Banfield who suggested treatment without knowing that our Dog cannot be put under for procedures. Anyways, as others have mentioned, one of the biggest issues is getting them to answer the phone. Today it says they opened at 7AM, you call and it says they`re closed? I have dropped my Dog off in the past and called for hours on an update an no one would answer the phone. They did properly diagnose my Dog with CHF and got her on the correct med dosages as well...We had a cardiologist confirm and they did get it 100% correct. Just wish you could get in on short notice when there is a more pressing concern than just a regular check-up visit. Considering, I do not like dropping my Dog off anymore and with her CHF condition, it tends to stress her out and make her shaky. Taking her in again today, will see how this one goes. read more

Banfield is Welcoming, Bright, Friendly and Convenient. All staff members welcome your pet your name making you feel at home. The wait time to see the Vet is never more than 5 minutes. And you are in and out in less than 20 minutes. The Dr. and staff members are all knowledgeable as well. The program Banfield offers pays for itself - Ask about their puppy program! You are able to see the vet whenever about what ever at no additional cost. Also there are Banfield locations virtually everywhere in the US so if you move you don't need to worry about finding a new vet facility. I highly recommend Dr. Light! He is the vet my puppy sees and he is simply the best! Personable, knowledgeable, funny and takes the time to really get to know you and your pet! He makes not coming to the vet not only easy but fun! My whole family and dog look forward to seeing him every visit! read more

I went to banfield because my Boston terrier (12 years old) looked like he was in severe pain. I was told to leave him for a few hours to be checked. They called me 20 min later to let me know he is fine just has anxiety. I should buy him a pheromone collar. He still looked in pain so I brought him to a real Vet with actual schooling and education and found out he was suffering from a slipped disk. This is the second time they have misdiagnosed my pet. They should be ashamed that their vets don't have the proper education to do the job they are suppose to to protect our pets not allow them to suffer more. read more

Banfield Pet Hospital is great! We've been taking our cat, Xavier, for over two years now. The service and professionalism is always worth it. They are located in the back of the PetSmart on Jefferson road, so traffic isn't always optimal with Buy, Buy Baby and The Christmas Tree Shop flanking it. We pay for the pet insurance plan that allows multiple services like check-ups, dental cleanings, etc to be covered an not paid out of pocket. We have saved thousands on services, just by carrying the policy. Any pet owner should have one, if they regularly take their pet to the vet. Banfield has from what I've found to be the best veterinary services in Henrietta/Rochester. Our cat is 12 yrs old and has kidney issues, so he is on special diet food. They are always in stock. He recently needed to have some dental work done and I was very fearful of the cost/benefit for a cat his age. The staff and doctors took extra time to verify that the anesthesia, pain medication, and antibiotics would have little to no affect on his kidneys. They also did a great job in explaining the whole procedure and where, if any, extra costs may come in with the surgery. The staff are very prompt with follow-up calls, even for general check-ups. As with any specialty services like this, you need to make sure that you are informed to a point that your comfortable and educated in the decisions you make. If you don't ask if there may be extra costs or what specifically will be done, you may be surprised by a price increase. I'm a huge fan of Banfield Pet Hospital and would recommend it to any of my friends. If there was one thing that I'm not a big fan on, is the location, but they still get 5 stars in my book if they continue to be great. read more

So our littlest baby (5 month old kitten) somehow injured her rear leg and was limping and obviously uncomfortable. We brought her to Banfield and they were wonderful with her. The vet, whose name escapes me unfortunately, and the vet tech were both superb. Kitty had a more thorough exam than most physicians give their human patients!Complete check on every joint range of motion. etc.. Even though they were extremely busy, the appointment was not rushed in any way, and we were given a few options on how to proceed, everything carefully explained to us. And the next day ( as usual) we got a follow up phone call to check on our kitty. I couldn't ask for better care or customer service! read more

My biggest challenge is they never answer their phone . My dog was spayed there and I had to call back to get update and I had to keep calling for an hour before anyone answered the phone and when they did I was put on hold for 20 min and then I got switched to voicemail again. So I immediately drove over there and there were two ladies at the front desk just chatting as I heard the phone ringing. Then 3 days after the surgery I noticed leaking and they told me to call them if that was seen. Again left messages and never heard back and tried to get in touch with someone by calling back for almost a half an hour. No one answered during that time. I can appreciate if they are busy but when there is an emergency a prompt call back would be appreciated and I just don't understand why there is no one answering the phones when there are clearly people staffed at the front desk. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. I adopted a feral cat and called my regular vet to have him neutered. Unfortunately, their surgeon had retired so I called around and found Banfield on Jefferson Road. I made an appointment for an initial visit and shots which was pretty pricey compared to other places. I then made an appointment for my cat to be neutered. I arrived on the morning and after many attempts to try to upsell their services, I was told that the neuter would be close to $400 !!!!!!! I asked why they charged so much compared to other places and was told that the cheaper places did not use anesthesia WHICH WAS A BOLD FACE LIE !!!!! This place doesn't give a crap about your animal ... they only care about MONEY!!! I left without leaving my cat there and went home. I did some more research and found out that The Humane Society will provide a general check up, ANESTHESIA, the neuter and a nail trim for $65. If I needed the shots that I already paid well over $100 for, it would cost me an additional $10. What kind of place are these people running???? I have read other reviews and wished I had done so before making any appointments with them. A few days later, I received an email from them asking how my appointment was. SERIOUSLY???? read more

BEWARE!!! If you move and the location is no longer convenient for you they will charge you the remaining wellness plan amount. Now I have to either drive an hour or pay $400 to cancel my plan. Also if you have a healthy pet the annual wellness cost is much cheaper at your local vet and additional services are more expensive here. It will cost me an extra $150 to get my dogs teeth cleaned here at Banfield as opposed to my local vet which now looks like I have to drive an hour each way to get it done. I find the prices to be reasonable plus, they offer the option to pay for a yearly plan with monthly payments which makes financial component that much reasonable. I have 4 small dogs and 2 cats and they all go to Banfield, I have 4 well visit plans for 3 of my dogs and 1 cat. We go to Banfield because they except the Care Credit card and we can make payments on the card. I am there A LOT and I think over all it's a good place to take your pet if you have lots of fur babies. I really like the staff and I love the vet,but they have given shots and done services when I didn't want them to . I understand, it gets crazy busy there and no one's perfect but if you are asked to DROP OFF your pet and you tell them you want to Talk about a service/shot,then you pick up your pet and now you have to pay for something you wanted to talk to the vet about...REALLY? ?? I DO NOT LIKE DROPPING OFF MY PET !!!/or/WAITING IN THE STORE till I can take my pets in a in an examination room. My pet is afraid as it is and I have customers from Petsmart coming up to my pet and loving my pet ! I want to wait in a room till we can see the vet ! My fur babies are my kids and I feel like it's an assembly line,"get them in/get them out!" Also,the communication with the staff at Banfield is poor. Not only have my pets been giver services and shots when I have said I wanted to speek to the vet first,I've made appointments for 2 pets but when I go for the appointment they only have me down for 1 Pet! They did fit me in with 2 pets but I mostly saw the vet tech. I feel they need to work on the QUALITY OF CUSTOMER SERVICE and NOT SO MUCH on pushing services and filling up the daily schedule! We recently started coming to the one in In Henrietta. My puppy is seven months old now and we wanted to find a quality vet to take care of him and our other dog who is going on 5. We really appreciate the staff and the courtesy calls after the visits. Our vet before this would not call after to find out how everything is going. I like the value of the service provided it is exceptional. Before we found Banfield hospital I hated seeing the bill for my 5 year old We bought the pet insurance plans for both dogs and I'll tell you I couldn't be more satisfied. Brutis and Wolfgang like going in there. I have saved about $1000.00 with both plans. Before I took them there I didn't realize the extra shots that were included in care of dogs. I appreciate the staff and doctors for taking the time to explain the things that go into the packages. I will continue to go in the future. read more

My 13yr old cat went in for a teeth cleaning on Friday and was diagnosed with Hepatic Lipidosis. Her Vet sent me home with instructions to IV hydrate and force feed my cat and she would check with me on Monday. This is after I have spent 650+ this month alone to see what was wrong with my beloved cat and was told it was her teeth and hyperthyroid causing her weight loss. After doing everything I'd been instructed to do my cat kept getting worse. On Friday when she was supposed to have her teeth cleaned I insisted they do an X-Ray and bloodwork and that's how Maddy was diagnosed! After several attempts Sat. to IV hydrate my cat I failed and called Banfield. Dr. Akers was there and saw my cat. He is amazing. His knowledge, compassion, and care he gave me and my cat was outstanding! I went back today for help again and he was off so the tech called him on his day off and he instructed her! Can you believe that! A doctor showing such terrific care he would call on his day off to help me!! WOW. All I can say is the care I recieved at Banfield was unlike any experience I have ever had at any vet. I would recommend anyone to take their pet there. The staff was so wonderful and Maddy is not out of the woods, but I will be having her vet fax her records to Banfield Monday. Thank you again Dr. Aker's! You truly are an amazing vet!! read more
