My 2 pound chihuahua doesn't like anyone to touch her, I knew this was gonna be difficult and I was worried for their safety. Dr. Kim came in and told me it was gonna be too difficult because she was in pain and he didn't want her to suffer. About 30 mins later here comes my sweet baby all warm wrapped in a towel being held by an angel named Amanda she was able to express the gland flush it and to top it off even trimmer her nails with all the care of a sweet mother, I will come back for her and for this reason you should bring your fur babies here too. I have a 3 month old puppy very small, very shy and scared. when I first met the lady she was very rude I can tell she doesn't like her job or even puppies at all, she didn't even do the exam at all and I paid $95 she barely examined my puppy. She began to grab at my puppy which he felt scared and he pretended to nip, but he didn't bite at all, she just got into his comfort space without slowly trying to engage with my puppy she instantly grabbed him and he tried to nip in reaction to protect himself, her first response was "wow dude I'm not going to get bit so I'm going to need to put a muzzle on you" and I was like "no you're not you will not put a muzzle on my puppy and traumatize him for nothing he did" and so we continued the appointment and after we finished, I went to front desk, I waited at the counter to pay and she instantly didn't help me she was complaining about how much stuff she had to do. STAY AWAY!!! I am very disgusted with this place! They push dangerous annual unnecessary procedures, monthly unnecessary toxic drugs, and push dangerous allergy meds. If they would have thought to test Zoe for dry eye the first time she scratched her eye, she never would have damaged it the second time!!!! A simple vitamin supplement has kept Zoe totally healthy and free of chronic ear infections, sneezing, itching for over 2 years now. We continue to be charged for a pet that passed away in July...80/mo. There is something fundamentally wrong with that. He never even has his dental exam which is the most expensive part. Each time we had him checked for an issue, we went for a second opinion. Banfield Wants to run every test imaginable at a high cost, when it is an easy solution. Our last experience was that our dogs became very sick. We ran blood tests etc with no expiation. We went to a private vet and they said that there is a common bacteria that grows in the water in Seattle and the water bowl needs to be changed daily. We implemented the change and presto, the dogs were great. We will not be renewing with Banfield after 15 years (5 dogs) as a customer. NOTE: read the contract carefully!! read more

I've been a client of this location twice due to various moves. The staff here always treated me with respect and saw me in a timely manner. My second stint at this location was only for a few months as my pup passed away. The day my pup took a rapid decline, I called and they were able to get me scheduled the next day. As emotional as the experience was, the staff treated me with the upmost kindness and care. Then, a month later I got a beautiful sympathy card in the mail with kind messages from the staff as well as my pup's paw print and nose print. This was such a beautiful surprise and even though we were there such a short time the staff still wrote such beautiful messages. Thank you for all you've done for my sweet girl. read more

I've been going to this Banfield and seeing Dr. Cantrell for about a year or two. I purchased the wellness plan because my cat needed some things that were going to cost a few hundred dollars and I didn't have that at the time. I really like the wellness plan because i can get a free dental cleaning for my cat, along with vaccinations, bloodwork and other things. I think a lot of people get the wellness plan confused with pet insurance. Their wellness plans are for PREVENTATIVE care, not emergencies. Also even if your pet passes away you still have to pay until your year is over (which is disturbing). Despite this, my cat is only 3 and has received good basic care from this Banfield location. read more

Don't take your pet here. You can see that I very rarely leave negative reviews. I think people complain too easily and never take the time to compliment. I actually have a vet that I really like at Jet City Animal Clinic. Traffic has become so bad in the last year it takes 2 hours round trip to get there. I wanted to try somewhere closer. I was also told it was cheaper. HOLY COW IT IS NOT CHEAPER HERE!! They try to manipulate you into signing up for their Wellness Plans. If you do not, they will charge you out the wazoo. They will find things I have never even heard of to charge you for. I downloaded a coupon for a complimentary exam and consultation. BEWARE! This is to get you in the door. I brought 2 cats in. My furry babies. I knew I would have to pay for 1 cat's visit, meds and tests etc at least. 1 kitty most likely has tapeworms and the other a UTI. They were semi-polite with my babies. The vet's bedside manner is rather gruff. I can't judge someone on their personality though. So after 5 minutes they pull up a bill of $275. What the heck?? "Well ma'am that is the price for NON-MEMBERS." Ok, got it. I understand that. I don't want to be a member. (This place smells bad) What I don't understand is some of the stuff they were charging me for. One of them that I contested was the "medical shave" around her vagina for $34. Really?! I nixed that. Her hair appointment is coming up soon. For only $45 more she gets a lion cut, nail trim, grooming and kitty bath! They took my little girl into another room. When she acme back they said they couldn't do the urine test (the one for $77). Why? I asked. I sh*t you not...the gal said "she doesn't have a bladder". "Oh, ok. I saw and heard her peeing this morning. Where did she store this urine?" Then she backtracked and said well maybe she does, but she is FAT and we don't have modern equipment so we couldn't find it". 1) that is VERY different than my cat does not have a bladder. 2) my cat is not fat. She is a little chubby at 11 pounds, but hardly fat. I honestly feel, with all of my instincts, that the vet DID NOT EVEN TRY to find her bladder because I refused the $34 vaginal shave. (If you can't find my cats vagina without shaving it, you may be in the wrong industry) The solution was to leave her at the clinic until they could find her bladder, bring her back another day OR get the urine sample myself. So I got to pay $8 for a CUP of non-absorbable litter (pen in photo for size comparison). I will get to lock cat in bathroom until she pees, extract pee, bring it back to the clinic within the same day the sample was collected and THEN still pay the $77 for the test. I also just saw on my bill that I paid $4 medical waste disposal fee AND a $46 office visit (so really I didn't get a free exam and consultation). I hate that I have to constantly be on the lookout from being scammed...from being eaten alive in the urban jungle. I can barely put up with it dealing with my human counterparts...but when you mess with my furry kids that rely on me to help them when they are sick...you have gone too far. Banfield is NOT a friend of the poor. Banfield is NOT a friend of animals. It is all about money. And while I understand a business has costs and needs to make money, I'm tired of people pretending they care when they really only want to suck you dry for every last penny. I do need to point out that the receptionist and vet's assistant were nice ladies. It is not their fault they work for a corrupt company. A very bad scam of a company. read more

We took our dog to Banfield pet Hospital on Aurora Ave., North to have an amputation on a cancerous tumor on her paw on Sept.1st. We took her back on Sept.3rd to have her bandage removed. The doctor told us there was nothing else we needed to do but let the wound dry and schedule an appointment for two weeks out. As soon as we got home and she put pressure on her wounded paw it began to bleed. We then brought her back the same day and instead of redoing any stitches he used staples to close the open wound and stop the bleeding. After he put the staples in she opened up the wound again by putting pressure on that same area. We brought her back on September 5th and they told us there was nothing else they could do but this was an emergency that couldn't wait three days. This is after the surgery they did they referred us to someone else. We pay over $2000 a year for health care to Banfield for two dogs and whenever there is medication or any kind of surgery we have to pay out of pocket. We've been going there for over 15 years and they have over promised and usually under delivered. After paying so much and receiving so little we are actively looking for another pet hospital that will meet our needs more equitably. The doctors involved in this fiasco were Dr. Cantrell who performed the first surgery and Dr. Kim who placed the staples in her paw. read more

I think it is important to understand the abilities of this clinic so you can adjust your expectations. This clinic is AMAZING at preventative care. And in emergency situations they have always squeezed us in despite understaffing and a full schedule. But if they refer you to a next step understand this is them telling you the capacity of abilities has run out. They do not have ultrasound machines or the capability to do emergency or large surgeries. But they will absolutely treat minor emergencies and preventative care for your babies. Seeing such terrible reviews breaks my heart, the staff works so hard and is so kind in treating your pets and doing thier best to save you money. If you require vaccines, basic testing, nail trims or general diagnosis ABSOLUTELY take your pets here. If you have more emergency needs take your pet to an emergency hospital. read more

I took my dog in because hes miserable...terribly itchy with scary lumps and bumps. Its was a 2 wk wait for even after explaining he chewed his pads off his feet. Finally day of appt due to covid you cant be in the exam room so i wrote all the issueshe had down for them beforehand. The dr. Calls me talking down to me( i went to school to be a vet tech) he tells me what i think are tumors on his penis shaft are nipples...i explain that he cant possibly have 14 nipples and they arent located on his scrotum...he says i didnt count them but thats what they are. He continues tob talk over me again and again so i hang up and go in to talk to someone and show the pictures of what im talking about assuming he isnt understanding me...they refuse to help him because i hung up. Im not even sure they looked at him...they didnt mention the bloody swollen ears or the pus coming from his penis i noticed when i got home. So because i hung up the phone (at this point never even raising my voice ) with a bad connection and a dr. Not shutting up long enough for me know for sure we were on the same page...or to tell him im coming in to show them girls at check in the photos. They refused to even write him a allergy prescription...and kicked out a digs with bloody ears and feet with pus coming from his penis , atleast 10 lumps. When you're vomiting out of your mouth because your dog is sick and vomiting out of his ass, it's time to see a vet. The staff at this Banfield location is absolutely wonderful! Amelie the Puppy has a "scaredy cat" complex and needs a lot of reassurance. This isn't farfetched especially if you consider that you'd freak out if every one of your doctor's appointment started off with a thermometer being stuck up you butt. Amelie gets over it quickly though because the staff gives her a lot of attention and reassurance which really helps the easily excitable puppy. My experiences at other Banfield Offices have been subpar where often I'd wait weeks to get an appointment I've been able to get Amelie the Puppy checked up with short notice and they've helped us tremendously with walk ins as well. The Banfield Wellness Plans are somewhat pricey. You get free office visits but still have to pay for any procedures or medications albeit with a discount (10%,15% or 20% depending on your plan). I've been to other vets and the cost of procedures at Banfield always seemed a bit higher than other pet hospitals. Nonetheless the yearly comprehensive check-ups are very good and you end up just at par after you get all the free vaccinations that come with your plan. If you are on the fence regarding getting a wellness plans there are plenty of times where it came in handy and I've personally saved a lot of money with the program. When Amelie needs her vaccination records and health certificate to travel via air we've been able to get her certificate and paperwork completed with little notice. If I had to get this done at an independent vet without a record of her health she would have to get a full check up over again and every visit would cost us all her saved up treat money. Also I can get Amelie's health records reprinted at any time. This is necessary to enroll a dog to any day care facility or training center and they are needed for every new groomer she visits. I can get her health records reprinted or even faxed over which has saved me many times where I've forgotten to bring her paperwork because I'm obviously a very bad puppy parent. The puppy plans are also a no brainer as it comes with a free spray/neuter procedure and you'll be getting double the vaccinations the first year which are free with the plans.. So when your puppy or kitten isn't the only one who needs reassurance that your favorite furry family member is going to grow up as a well adjusted young 4 legged creature, you should bring them to Banfield of Seattle. read more

Vaccinations, yes. Service, integrity, trust? Not a fucking chance. We took our pooch here (she is on the wellness plan, which we are pleased with re vaccinations), and they said she had a UTI. Strange, because no symptoms at all, but fine. We will give her medication. Did a urine culture to make sure it wasn't a more serious bacteria, went on our way. A week later, we were told to come back and get more medicine, which would run another two weeks. Three weeks total of antibiotics. Took her back for a "final" checkup today and will never go back to this location. 1. Guy who started her checkup was interrupted halfway through with someone on the phone with some project. WTF. Professionalism anyone? The chick that took over was sweet, but misquoted us on the dog's next culture. 2. First quote. 69. Second quote. 149. Third quote. 81. Oh I'm sorry, it did say 69. Don't worry, we will have you pay 69. At the checkout. 81. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? After we told the guy up front what had happened, he went in back to get "her." Turns out "her" was not the woman who had quoted us, but the doctor, whom we'd NEVER ONCE MET. The doctor told basically told us we were lying. Great wellness plan. HORRIBLE LOCATION. Learn how to communicate people. If you intend upon ripping people off, at least make sure everybody is on board so you don't all look like total morons. Negative stars. read more

If there were a negative star option, I would use it for banfield. They don't care about your pet, they're just out there to get your money. I'm now stuck with 8 more months of their banfield plan or pay $300 because the vet decided it was a great idea and was genuinely concerned that my perfectly healthy 3 year old dog has 1 "abnormality" on blood work, so she should repeat it... Twice. It wasn't even abnormal, it was the upper limits of normal. And why do you need to repeat comprehensive blood work when 1 value suggests that she was simply dehydrated? Her blood counts and liver function tests are fine. (Please don't try to write some bs response to this, I'm a medical professional and I know). When I asked her this, she fed me some bs and told me she wouldn't prescribe my dog her medication (for upcoming long travel trip) without repeating the tests. I also maybe routinely spent 5 minutes tops with the vet, they're always in a hurry and seemed to run away as fast as they could and look annoyed and half way out the door when I ask a question. Needless to say, I'll be paying off the $300 and forever cancel their plan. Never again! read more

I am very disappointed in the service or lack there of I have received from The Banfield of North Seattle on Aurora Ave. On several occasions they have over medicated my small dog which is on their pet plan insurance and has been for the last 3 years. We have a memo posted on his record about the this and we tell them every time we go in for shots to make sure he only has 1 and we will bring him back for the other later because he is highly sensitive to them. They always give him more then 1 and he gets sick for days even after we have asked then not too. The last straw was when we called them on a weekday at about 4pm and our dog was seriously sick and they told us they couldn't see him for 2 weeks. Hello! This is a walk in clinic, why cant you see my dog who is on your pet insurance and is seriously sick. They had no answer for this. I'm outraged! Cancel my plan! This is a sad one for me. I was recommended by a friend and at first everything was fine. They always pushed their "Wellness Plan" and what a wonderful deal it is. My wife finally gave in a signed up mainly because we have an injury prone dog. NOT WORTH IT!! Not only does with plan cover very little but when you take advantage of the freebies that go along with it you basically imprison yourself to the plan. We just tried to cancel and were told that we would need to pay for all the services the provided that were "free with membership". Are you kidding me? So my choices are pay you for what you said came with the plan or pay you by continuing the plan?! We love our dog and want the best treatment for her. That being said if you treat us like this how can I know how you are actually treating my dog? I am now planning to pay to get out of this and will be writing the corporate offices to voice my absolute displeasure with their organization. Its too bad it had to end like this. read more

I've been using Banfield Pet hospital on Aurora for over a decade. They've been my primary healthcare provider for three cats and a dog and I've had the wellness plan for all of that time. Yes, it automatically renews - canceling it is a short phone call. What you get for the plan is really great value for money (try paying for pet emergencies at a regular vet, or treat aging animals who begin to develop serious conditions). Those people who are slamming the wellness plan really haven't tapped into its benefits. The people who work at Banfield are fabulous. Veterinarian care is a tough job. The people who sign up for this work have a degree of patience and positivity that's hard to find. At Banfield, I've always found the staff extremely helpful, attentive and caring. They develop bonds with your pets and they always know them by name when they arrive in the crate or on a leash. Banfield has helped me go through the rough experience of putting two of my pets to sleep and their approach, empathy and professionalism was exemplary. Over the years, they've made check-in/check-out much more efficient and they do a really great job of explaining everything that you are being charged for and they really try to encourage you to use your wellness plan benefits. I'm sad to say I'm moving out of state and I won't get to use them again. I'll be finding a Banfield in my next home though. read more

Compared to all previous vets we've had I would rate this vet very low quality. They don't even remember my dog from visit to visit. However, you can't beat the prices if you're on their wellness plans and they've never misdiagnosed my pet, nor have the ever given her something that I didn't feel she needed. My dog is a pug, and if you've ever owned one you know that when I say they're high maintinence, they definitely are. I can't say the same about all Banfields. Our prevous one in CA was terrible. They constantly overcharged me and carried out services I didn't ask for (ex: $20 bucks for nail clipping!). This Banfiled, however, I have not had such issues. read more

Beware of wellness plan renewals without notification. Banfield will "work with your bank" (depending on what bank you have perhaps), renew your plan without your notification. The plan was initially under a completely different card number when the plan started over a year ago. Banfield come renewal time, never gave us a notice before taking money out of the new card, a new card number which was never given to Banfield! Again, just beware of this business practice of non consenting plan renewals. It is absolutely shameful. read more

I have two dogs, and my husband and I signed up our pets for Banfield insurance years ago. This is the third Petsmart/Banfield we have taken our dogs. I have to say, after their six month check-up the other day, I am really impressed with this location. We were able to get an appointment the same day we called. As the Banfield appointment form indicates, a staff member called me when one of my dogs needed an additional service. While this might not seem like a big deal, at another location the staff did not call me about the progress of the appointment and I ended up shocked when the bill was close to $200 (with insurance.) So I appreciate that, first of all. I also was impressed by the nurse. When we picked up the dogs (insurance puppies are drop-off appointments only,) the nurse actually came out with the dogs and talked us through the appointment. This has never happened before; we only got a report card-type print out with the dog's health summary, which came off confusing and aggravating when one of my pet's received a "good" health report while the other received "excellent." The nurse also gave us suggestions on improving their health (and nothing common sense like, "Your dogs have tarter on their teeth, you should brush them; like real advice.) I feel like the people here actually care, which is not always the case, unfortunately. So I trust them and will continue to bring my dogs here. read more

I've had good experiences here. Hannah and Rene are absolutely the best--they literally see a gazillion dogs each day, and they remembered my dog's name after the first visit--I couldn't believe it. They truly make our whole visit worth it--they are so pleasant, kind, and loving to my dog--and to all the animals that come in--but they are especially good with the panicked new pet owners, like me. We've seen a different vet each time we've been there, and they've all been good with our new dog--even when she was a little freaked out. I have taken my pets to many different vet hospitals over the years, and I also worked for a large regional chain. My experience has almost always been negative. When a co-worker of mine recommended taking our dog to Banfield, I was hesitant at first because like many people in Seattle, I dislike "big box" stores. Our Golden Retriever needed a dental cleaning and is getting long in the tooth, so we opted for the top level wellness plan, and we have been very satisfied with the quality of care and service. The cost of just a dental cleaning at many of the vet hospitals in the Seattle area easily exceeds the annual cost of the plan. It's a great value and I feel it allows the doctors to practice better medicine. Dr. Minton is so knowledgable and caring, and everyone that works there has been friendly and professional. Take a look at the care plans and do the math, especially if your pet is older. I highly recommend this veterinary hospital. read more

My family and I have used the Banfield Wellness Plan for the past 10 years. It has been very helpful to us as we have moved 6 times in those 10 years and there has always been a Banfield nearby. Luckily most of them have been great. This location has been fine to work with but I would like to call out Dr Siobhan Cantrell as an exemplary veterinarian. She helped us and our 11 year old dog deal with his cancer diagnosis and make choices that were heartbreakingly difficult but best considering the circumstances. I am certain that the other vets are good as well but we always ask for Dr. Cantrell because we have come to trust her and her opinions. read more

I have been here for 6 years I have changed location due to bad experiences then came back recently, first doctor told me to come in 10 min my dog was done. I waited 50min at the reception while the 2 girls sat there doing nothing didnt even asked what i needed. Then i called them since nobody came up to me. The girl said she didnt know i was waiting for my dog. I mean poor customer Service. Then still decided to take dental cleaning for my dog scheduled it a month earlier they call me week prior to ask me if i wanted to do it in another location bc it was better for them that way. I mean im not sure why they would do that. Thats a nice way to say dont come back we dont want your service here. i can def feel that i was never welcome here and how can you feel comfortable and how will they treat your pet on the back especially with covid. We cant see whats going on and its frustrating. They lost my trust and its hard to trust any other banfield bc of some bad apples. Anyway luckily when i called banfield in Bellevue they were nice enough to accept my puppy there. I do not recommend this place. Avoid at all cost. They dont care much about your pet! read more

I can't even express how happy we are that our three furkids go here. Over the years they have helped us with our cat who had cancer and did everything they could to save him before we finally decided to let him go when his quality of life was so diminished and there was no more hope. *****Just last month they saved our most beloved dog when he swallowed a rubber bone he found at the dog park. They not only stayed after hours (they finished the surgery at 11:30pm and had not only worked a full day but opened the clinic the next morning) and performed the surgery themselves because they knew we would have some difficulty paying the exorbitant price at the emergency clinic (which we would have paid), they called us almost every day during his recovery to check on his progress. They act like every animal is their favorite but we knows ours really are! ;) I couldn't ask for better vets to take care of our boys, even their sub vet is fantastic. A few years ago our dogs tail got de-gloved and they were going to dock it which I adamantly refused...a border collie without his tail? No way!! They talked me through treatment and although they advised me not to do the homeopathic remedy I said I was going to try they gave me a lot of information on care to provide. After many months when my dog went back and my dog's tail tip had regrown using my methods combined with theirs...they apologized for doubting and said they were going to share what we did with other patience. A human Dr would never do that but they did here... quality people, I tell you, they are quality. Leah who runs the office is also wonderful and we always know she will answer any and all questions with her good humor and a smile. The wellness plan pays for itself and in the case of us losing our pet or having to re-home one due to work/travel issues they have quickly and effectively terminated our account. Anyone who says they haven't been able to cancel must have been a complete (you know what) here on the phone to them. Be courteous people...it goes a long way. Lastly, go with your gut - these are your pets and go for a free first appt (which is awesome) and check them out. If you don't like them, go to someone else. We will continue to take Ocho, Hank and Ivan here as well as our foster dogs. read more

i want the world to know that bruce at banfield animal hospital is letting my cat die...he promised me he would help. they knew and know the backstory...that i am poor and not able to find a job with 2 college degrees and 30 yrs. of work experience, that my husband works two jobs, that my cat has not been able to eat, drink, sleep, or go to thebathroom and when i took my cat in a few days ago, they said that even though i am paying 45.00 a month, they cannot even tell me what he needs to try to give a report to animal organizations unless i pay up. they lied just toget me in to see if i really had any money, which i do not. 45.00 is all i can afford to give them. so, dr. kim only gave him eyedrops for his eyes even though he was lethargic...this is with the plan, mind you, and then dr. cantrell, who is an evil witch...wouldn't even give him bloodwork until i pushed and then they found an infection but she said, "i do not know what the infection is. how would i know?" and when i asked her what the eye drainage is, she said, "how would i know?" and then when they said they could not do an xray that was supposed to be covered by my plan b/c he was too squirmy, i asked them, "what am i paying for?" they got mad and mademe out to be the bitch even though my cat is dying and retaliated against me just b/c i pointed out their disgusting, sub par care. i will make it my mission to bring this to the media, starting now!! and today, bruce shut the door and locked me in a room and proceeded to tell me "not to be emotional and get it together rebekah" when i was crying b/c they would not help my cat. yep. he did. i also mentioned that instead of giving me a guilt trip about bringing my dying cat in today, he could have actually acknowledged that he told me saturday to bring my cat in today. i could not bring it in saturday b/c they waited until 2:45 p.m .to say that they had an appt. at 3 p.m. that day,knowing that i live in west seattle and do not have a car that day. so, i could not do it. when i got in today, he said, "unless your cat has a blockage, there is nothing we can do for your cat (even though i am paying 45.00 a month or the plan) and even if he did have a blockage, there would be nothing we could do for the cat." huh? the cat is dying...he is not eating or drinking...so i said to bruce that i do not appreciate the fact that my cat is dying andand he is doing nothing. he said, "i am going to have to ask you to leave" so he got mad when i said i was recording him. then everyone stood there and demonized me, the most loving and passionate cat owner ever, and told me to get out. then he followed me into the petsmart store when i was trying to go to the bathroom and the petsmart employees said, "the bathroom is for customers only' so i guess the no-class, no ball disease of being a-holes also extends to the petsmart staff. i will make it my mission to bring down banfield and use my 30 years of activism and journalism skills to do so. also, i want to mention that i told him i would sue him, which he asked if it was a threat? i said no, not at all! i am going to do it!! and i will, for sure!!! b/c this cat is my life. also, he took the cat back without letting me go back there, which i found very unethical. i want all of my money back as well. read more

I've trusted Banfield for the past 6 years with all of my pets, each on the comprehensive wellness plan. I have a 6 year old dog, 2 year old cat and a new 5 month kitten. I have always had a pleasant experience with the staff and veterinarian here and have no complaints. I brought my new kitten, Benji, to the veterinarian suggested by the pet rescue for his initial vet exam, since they said the vet would be able to make sure his past health issues are resolved. That was a bad experience noted in another review, and needless to say I wish I hadn't wasted any time and had brought Benji directly to Banfield for his initial exam yesterday. Today, Benji's symptoms were getting worse and I did not want to wait until after the holiday to treat him, so I came into Banfield without an appointment. They were completely booked and were not really accepting walk-ins, but saw my concerns and made time to fit us in. They did a great job in gathering pertinent health information, making a diagnosis and creating a comprehensive treatment plan, giving me peace of mind tonight that Benji is going to be okay. I just want to say thank you Banfield, and to keep doing what you're doing! Your love of animals really shines through. I also really appreciate the affordable prices and the wellness plan. Paying the monthly fee is negligible with all that is included in the wellness plan and I highly encourage everyone to look into it. read more

What a fabulous experience. I have a dog that --Value Pet--labeled as aggressive. They even wanted to put her to sleep to exam her routinely. Knowing this Shortens a dogs life I was greatly worried about this and opted for an alternative. Well--I found "The Vet Team" Danica the Practice Manager, Dr.Kim, every single person we have interacted with has been fabulous! They played with my animal child like their own, gave her fabulous care, explained every single thing. That was just the start of our experience. We could not be happier !!! read more

The people here are very kind! I bring my dog here and at the location in Bellevue. Thinking of switching them over to the Seattle location for convenience. The pet plans they have are very helpful if you are on a budget. My only complaint is that their computer systems are slow so checking in takes a while. I think the people who work for this company would appreciate a software revamp as well. :) read more

On January of 2017, I brought my then 7 year old dog here because I suspected that she was pregnant and she was seen by both Dr. Cantrell and Dr. Ottinger. They both diagnosed her as having a phantom pregnancy and suffering from pyometra and therefore needing immediate surgery that would cost $800.00 (with her Banfield wellness plan) and was told that surgery would be done at another Banfield location by Dr. Ottinger next day (vet's convenience, not the patient's). Well, it turned out she really was pregnant. To my horror, I came home from trying to gather funds for the surgery to my dog trying to resuscitate (licking and pawing at it repeatedly) a dead puppy that only God knows how long she'd given birth to alone. I called Banfield and asked Dr. Cantrell how was this possible with hers and Dr. Ottinger's diagnosis and she said she was sure it was pyometra because she squeezed my dog's teats and pus came out (I guess it was hard for her to tell milk from pus). I asked if I could bring my dog back to the clinic and she told me no because it was the end of the day and they were closing in 10 minutes and to just bring my dog to the Blue Pearl hospital next door in case there are other dead puppies in her womb. Thankfully, that was the only puppy she had but faced with the thought that maybe it was the pyometra that caused her to have a stillbirth and not having immediate cash at the time and not trusting anybody from Banfield anymore after TWO of their vets misdiagnosing hers as pseudo pregnancy, I took a chance at calling the Seattle Animal Shelter Clinic and even though their schedule was packed until the next month, when I explained about the pyometra issue, they scheduled my dog for the next day. They even had both their two vets present during her surgery (not mentioning their names in case Banfield tries to recruit them). Huge relief when they called to let me know everything went well and my baby DID NOT HAVE PYOMETRA! So, hats off to you, Banfield, FOR THE MOST NUMBER OF MISDIAGNOSIS IN ONE PATIENT!!! And the icing on top of the cake? The shelter clinic only charged me $156.00 for my baby's surgery. Banfield, you have no idea how much stress and trauma you caused me from this experience. To this day, I still blame myself over and over for not being there for my baby giving birth unattended and alone. My babies are nothing but a a dollar sign to you. I've been faithfully giving you my money every single month (for no less than 3 babies all the time) since 2003. Thank goodness, I now see the light. Never again. read more

Our puppy has been on Banfield's wellness plan and has been a patient for the last 3 years. Today was officially the last straw. The Aurora Banfield says walk-in's welcome and I understand that it is on a first come first serve basis. But they also say that they will see all sick and injured pets first for the safety of everyone. We brought our precious little mini dachshund into Banfield and she was in severe pain. We were afraid that she had broken her back or had a herniated disc. We were right and Banfield was NO help. A doctor wouldn't even come out and LOOK at her. They said that they could maybe see her in a few hours without defining what that meant. They were very non-com-ital and we basically had to beg for more information on where to bring her. Seriously? You'll serve sick or injured dogs first? I would say that that shows their commitment to care in a nutshell. A doctor would not even come out and SEE her for one second. As a pet parent, this was very heartbreaking for me. She is like a child to me and to feel no support from a place where she is supposed to receive great care was an awful experience. I have never felt so helpless in my life. Thanks Banfield, we are taking our family else where. read more

My dog has had other vets that gave him such a horrible experience that he ends up shaking and terrified by the time I'm there to get him. But the vet nurse and vet that took care of him at Banfield was so sweet to my boy that when I came to get him on his last visit he was really happy, tail wagging, smiley face and all. :) I'm happy to find a vet that treats my baby well. read more

My dog's care was botched here. I would have appreciated, and emptied my bank account for, a more alert and pro-active vet and office staff that would have given Jessie the care she needed before it was too late. After recently stumbling upon this site, a tremendous guilt hit me that I waited so long to tell my story here. Even three years after her death, I continue to learn, and the feedback from vets who knew Jessie in Seattle and Portland, as well as veterinary oncologists in both states was so unanimous, that they encouraged me to file a complaint with the Washington State Veterinary Association, even though we accurately suspected it may be a case considered "aged or outdated" by the Board. I filed the report, and am writing this review as part of my responsibility as a pet owner. Jessie should not have been allowed to be just another Banfield dog that slipped through the cracks. She was admitted to Banfield with symptoms I reported that included vomit, extended fatigue, dark stool, dizziness/light headedness, loss of appetite, and difficulty breathing at times. Blood tests showed a hematocrit of 26.9 (normal range is 37-55), although no number values were given to me at that time, and only represented as " a little low". She was put on antibiotics for what the vet determined might be a bladder infection. After consult with my regular vet (who had recently moved out of state and wanted the actual test numbers), my call to Banfield with that request took five days for a return phone call. During their tardy return call I reported Jessie's worsening symptoms, but I allowed the Banfield vet's lack of urgency talk me out of mine. When Jessie collapsed a week later, I called Banfield, and they said it would be a two hour wait. They never referred me to somewhere else I could take her. Upon admittance to an emergency hospital at the recommendation of my doggie day care, Jessie's hematocrit was 22. Blood transfusions began soon after admittance and cancer was confirmed. The intake report noted that no follow up tests of any kind were either taken or ordered by Banfield at any time. Cancer can be tough to detect, and doctors can misdiagnose, but Banfield's errors in Jessie's case contributed to the delay in proper intervention and treatment that would have given us more time together. In addition, poor and inaccurate medical records and intake histories were kept. They were also lacking and inaccurate in client communication and education. One vet told me regarding the care she received at Banfield, "Given her symptoms, the blood tests, her breeds, and her history, five fire alarm bells should've gone off right from the start". While the vets try to do their best and are now, hopefully, more on-guard for stuff like this, I'd still be wary. Anecdotally, in talking with pet owners and others in the veterinary community in other states, it seems Banfield has systemic problems nationally that allow for too many oversights. The clinics seem to follow protocols that can serve more towards profit than the best interest of the animal, and do not take into account each individual case, or how far an owner will go for their pet. Talk with others, and do a good internet search. Most likely you will find better care elsewhere. Banfield may be an option for basic shots when you first get your pet, or may be conveniently located, but chances are they will let you and your pet down at the time when you need them most. read more

I brought my kitten here twice and the first time saw Dr. Cantrell and the second time saw Dr. Kim. I think Dr. Cantrell did a good job of helping me understand the urgency of my kitten's illness although he was ultimately misdiagnosed. I don't think this was her fault as the radiologist made the recommendation. I was told to come pick up my kitten to take him for emergency surgery and of course rushed over. I had to wait a couple minutes before I frantically told them that I was told there's an emergency and I needed to get him now. It seemed like the urgency hadn't been communicated with staff. When I brought my cat back to talk about end of life care and a follow up (after many conversations with vets at AMC, as well as lots of diagnostic tests, a surgery and hospitalization) Dr. Kim didn't seem well informed on the notes sent by AMC. I had even called ahead and talked to a vet tech about the appointment and to ensure they had all of the information. I was already emotional about my very sick kitten and exhausted from two weeks of nonstop care and decision making and Dr. Kim got on the phone and told me he could put him down today. I was expecting a bit more conversation and sympathy. We talked about scheduling the euthanasia and he said the earliest they could fit in his euthanasia was on Tuesday (this was Friday). I said I was thinking Sunday would be more realistic given how quickly he was declining and that we were having a hard time keeping him comfortable any longer. I understand that there were scheduling challenges but when I pushed him to be a bit more considerate about this hard decision and got emotional he quickly said he would look into other scheduling options and put me on hold. I waited about five minutes and then someone from the front desk came on to schedule us for Tuesday. No acknowledgement that Dr. Kim ended our appointment abruptly and without checking if I had other questions. The person at the front desk was kind and we scheduled for Tuesday. She said that I could call around to other Banfields for earlier appointments. I couldn't quite imagine calling a bunch of vets begging them to make space in their busy schedule to euthanize my sweet kitten. I was honestly just shocked at how dismissive everyone was. I hung up sad and upset. Also, during our appointment I asked Dr. Kim if I could take off my cat's cone and he seemed to not know when his surgery was and said if it was past ten days it would "probably" be fine. Did he not look at the incision? This was the main point of our visit. Overall, not great nor compassionate care. We took our fur baby to Animal Medical Center in Shoreline for his end of life care and it was phenomenal and caring, plus reasonably priced with a paw print and everything (Banfield said they didn't even do clay paw prints). I will not be returning to Banfield for my other cat and hope that they can improve their communication and care. read more
